After iOS 6 Update, cannot connect to iTunes store, PassBook doesn't work and my carrier is set to "EE" instead of Orange-UK. Help appreciated!
I have an iPhone 4, 8gb and have just downloaded iOS 6...
I am so disappointed!
My iTunes store fails to open or connect to anything. Passbook fails to launch properly- asks to connect to iTunes store, then fails because that doesnt work either.
Where my carrier in the top left is meant to say Orange (I'm in the U.K) it now says "EE". I'm frustrated. This took over an hour to do and it's done nothing but mess up my phone. Please sort it out!!
Ok, I've just done that. An error message came up, with half an email address so I changed the year date back and opened passbook.. Then it asked to connect to iTunes, it didn't display the "cannot connect.." message, just showed loading and the wheel going around for ages. Regretting this update, so much hassle. Thank you for your help so far though. Seems like so many people are having the same problems :(

I have tried numerous times to connect to ITunes Store to update my current apps and continue to get this message. Apple has determined that it is not a device problem or an Apple problem. It has to do with ITunes. Can anyone help?I am having no problems downloading from the app store today. I just tried it again. However, I read some of those other discussions as well and there have been times when the iTunes or App Store has been out of commission. Don't hold your breath waiting for Apple to acknowledge it because that is not going to happen. That is not how they operate.

I just updated the iOS6 and that is when I started having problems. I get the message when I tap App Store and iTunes app. I get email messages but when I delete them they come back. I open them up but does not connect to the internet properly.

Demo, thank you for your help. After posting this question, I finally found another thread on this very topic that was more than just another request for help with the issue, but had no responses. In my case, the answer by synyster156 resolved the problem. Prior to following synster156's instructions, I closed my browser so that no programs were connected to the internet. I don't know if this was necessary, but anyway, it worked for me.
- In Win 7, go to "Start>All Programs>Accessories>" right-click on "Command Prompt" and select "Run as administrator".
- In the Command Line Interface window and at the propmpt "c:\windows\system32>" enter
netsh winsock reset and then press the enter key.
- After this command is run, you should get a message stating that windows has successfully reset the winsock catalog.
- To complete the rest, close out any open programs/windows and "Restart" your computer.

App Store Updates (but only Updates) cannot connect to iTunes Store
The App Store icon on my homescreen shows I have 6 updates waiting to download.
When I go to App Store > Updates it says "Cannot connect to iTunes Store".
I can browse online with Safari so have internet connectivity. Every other tab in the App Store (e.g. Top 25) connects and I can download new apps. I can also access the iTunes store by using the iTunes icon - I can view and download anything from iTunes. The ipod touch can therefore connect to the iTunes Store, but for some reason the App Store Updater cannot.
I'm using OS 5.1.1, have searched the forums, shutdown and restarted the ipod, checked the DNS, logged out and in of my iTunes account, used different wi-fi networks, but no progress. I closed all apps, double tapping home key from home screen, turned set date and time automatically off, clicked set daate and time, changed year to 2014. I then opened updates on apps and got the security message, went back to set date and time, turned on set automatically, opened app store back up (did not force close after security message) , got to loading and had 21 apps to update
Not sure what caused this initially; but some things I had done in the past were, I had set date and time auto off, I had changed the date and time numerous times in a row for the game deer hunter reloaded to get gold, most of the time stopping around August each time. Other than that, I have not made any major changes or added any apps when it stopped working. -
Problems with AppStore updates (Cannot connect to iTunes store)
My iPads cannot update apps via the AppStore. Selecting update in the AppStore generates a "Cannot connect to iTunes store" error. This appears to be related to my home network since I can update if I connect to other wifi networks. All of my iPads are wifi only.
Interestingly enough, I can connect to the iTunes app directly... The problem is when I connect via updates. Likewise, none of the other computers (both Mac and PCs) have any problems connecting to the iTunes store.
I have searched in vain for any firewall considerations that I should accommodate.
My network uses a Linux box as the router/firewall. It is running iptables (managed by firestarter) and safesquid as a proxy server that is set up to run in transparent proxy mode. I have checked all the logs and can't see where this is causing a failure, so I am at a loss.
Does anyone know what ports the AppStore would need for updates? Does anyone know if a transparent proxy would be a problem for the updates?

After OS4 upgrade cannot connect to iTunes Store???

I upgraded my 3GS software to OS4 and since then I am unable to connect to the itunes store from my phone. I can connect to the internet using Safari and i can access the store when I connect my phone to my laptop. But when i try to connect to itunes store just from my phone through wireless, it just says "Cannot connect to itunes store".
My internet connection/Wifi is super, there are no problems there.
Pls help me out with this glitch. Its annoying!
Thanks a ton!I think this might have something to do with using 2 iPhones on 1 computer. My boyfriend and I each bought an iPhone 4 yesterday - mine works fine (I was the first to connect to iTunes). My boyfriend connected his to iTunes after me, then when he disconnected from the computer and tried to access the iTunes store through wifi it came up with the "cannot connect to iTunes store" message on his iPhone.
I created a new user on our laptop and downloaded iTunes again. I connected my boyfriend's iPhone and restored to factory settings and this seemed to do the trick!!!! Hope this helps! -
I cannot use iTunes anymore. My computer becomes extremely slow or just freezes. I notice the problem started after I updated iTunes to a new version. I have tried uninstalling iTunes completely from my computer and installing it back, but problem continues. We iTunes launches, it tries to connect to iTunes store, but it doesn't seem to be able to do that either. I can't sync my iPod or play back my music, please help.

itunes store, software update, my olympus firmware update software, even the network "connection assistant" cannot connect to the server. I am told "the network connection was refused" or "cannot connect to the server". I tried the DNS link and it took me to the apple homepage, but fully functional. Firefox and Mail work just fine. Help?

Hi again,
Make sure that you have a Wi-fi / 3G connection and these are turned on.
Try resetting your Wi-Fi router by turning it off and then on again.
Check and verify that Restrictions on your iPad is turned off (Settings > General > Restrictions).
Tap Settings > Store on your device and sign out, then sign in again.
Tap Settings > Store > Apple ID > view Apple ID and turn off Genius for Apps.
Turn off and on (restart) your iPad.

Everytime I try to download an update or just a new app, I am asked to put in my password. I do that and I get a message that says "Cannot connect to iTunes Store". I have gone and changed my password and updated my info and I still am getting the same message. This just started recently.
