After update hella damaged

wel it is not completely broken, it just trows up a bunch of warnings...
(i have reinstalled twisted, twistedweb2 and hellanzb but it doesnt fix it)
when opening:
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/twisted/internet/_sslverify.py:4: DeprecationWarning: the md5 module is deprecated; use hashlib instead
import itertools, md5
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/twisted/python/filepath.py:12: DeprecationWarning: the sha module is deprecated; use the hashlib module instead
import sha
/usr/lib/python2.6/site-packages/Hellanzb/Util.py:33: DeprecationWarning: BaseException.message has been deprecated as of Python 2.6
self.message = message

Those are just warnings that this won't work when python3.0 comes out.  Until upstream (or someone else) releases a fix, there is not much that can be done about it.  Do a google search and if you find one then post it to the bug tracker.

After updating os to OSX 10.9.1 I can't open any new pdf files.  I get a message saying It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognise. I can still read older saved files but no new ones arriving by email.  Also can't attach a pdf to an email to send out.  Any help would be appreciated.

Back up all data before making any changes. Please take each of the following steps until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
If Adobe Reader or Acrobat is installed, and the problem is just that you can't print PDF's displayed in Safari, you may be able to print by moving the cursor to the the bottom edge of the page, somewhere near the middle. A black toolbar may appear under the cursor. Click the printer icon.
    Step 2
There should be a setting in its preferences of the Adobe application such as Display PDF in Browser. I don't use those applications myself, so I can't be more precise. Deselect that setting, if it's selected.
    Step 3
If you get a message such as ""Adobe Reader blocked for this website," then from the Safari menu bar, select
    Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Security
    and check the box marked
    Allow Plug-ins
    Then click
    Manage Website Settings...
and make any required changes to the security settings for the Adobe PDF plugin.
    Step 4
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, move to the Trash any items that have "Adobe" or “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari.
    Step 5
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it, if it's present. The same goes for a plugin called "iGetter," and perhaps others — I don't have a complete list. Don't remove Silverlight if you use the "Netflix" video-streaming service.
    Step 6
Do as in Step 4 with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari.

  • Parental Controls Broken After Updating an Application

I'm using Parental Controls (remotely) under 10.5.4 to manage what applications can be opened in a small lab. This works well until I need to update an application on the lab computers. I'll use Firefox as an example, but this happens with all applications.
    - I have a version of Firefox on all lab computers (3.0) and Firefox is allowed under parental controls. Everything works.
    - I update Firefox to 3.0.1. (In this case, I simply overwrote the older version of firefox, but I get this problem when updating applications with installers.)
    - If I remotely look at the Parental Controls settings for the lab computer, I can see that Firefox is still allowed (checked)
    - Now, on the lab computer, I log into the managed account and try to open Firefox, I get a warning about the application not being on the allowed list.
    - I log out of the lab computer, and again, access the parental controls setting remotely. Now Firefox is Not Allowed (unchecked).
    - I check the box to allow Firefox
    - Now when I log into the managed account, the new version of Firefox opens.
Some fixex / workarounds I have tried:
    - After updating Firefox, I remotely accessed the parental controls settings and first disallowed (unchecked) Firefox, close parental controls, reopened it, and then allowed (checked) Firefox. When logged into the managed account, opening Firefox produced the not allowed error. When I return to the Parental Controls settings, Firefox is now Not Allowed (unchecked). Checking the box to allow Firefox fix the error.
    - I've tried restarting after updating Firefox and it did not work.
    My guess:
I assume that Leopard keeps a list of applications and versions installed on the computer. Parental Controls allows a specific combination and any update will break the parental controls. To allow this updated application to be opened, its old entry in the list must be updated to reflect the new version. The only way I have figured out how to do this, is to try and open the updated application and fail. Then I can finally allow the updated version.
Does anyone know of an automated or scritable way to do this. I have tried working with lsregister, but have not had any success. I need a way to force Leopard to reload / refresh its list of installed applications, with having a user logged into the console.
For a different solution, does if you can send a UNIX command to machine sitting on it login screen, that will cause the machine to login as a local console user. I could then send "open /path/to/updated app" and a logout to force the application list to be refreshed.
Many Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi! Did you ever receive any feedback on this issue?
I am interested since I have noticed the exact same frustration with Parental Controls since updating to 10.5.
While a very good idea, I think the parental controls, especially with respect to permissions about applications is utterly useless at the moment. It is completely stupid that I have to reset the permissions for applications each and every time I update an application. I have three children who use the computer and I don't want them using every bit of software on the eMac. They are naturally curious and will click on programs that can do damage without realizing is.
I have also turned off any parental controls regarding web browsing but my children still hit many sites that are blocked by Parental Controls. I do have a linux gateway that does the filtering quicker and better.
If anyone at Apple is listening ... please spend some time to fix this for the next update.
    Thank you.

  • After Update to iPhoto 9.4.3 some pictures shown black

I'm working in a iMac with OSX 10.9.5. I've just updated my iPhoto with a newer version of iLife 11 to iPhoto 9.4.3 step by step as described here from Old Todd: running 10.9.5 OS X and iLife 11, now can't use iPhoto The capacity of the iPhoto library is around 180 GB with around 25.000 Objects. First everything seems to be fine. I could see all rolls, albums, calendar etc. But than i discovered, that in some cases, I could see the thumbnails but when I do a double click on it, I can only see a totally black frame. When I'm going to export that frame and look for the result, the original picture was exported correctly.
So, I tried to repair permissions and rebuild database. But this won't fix it. Than I tried to recreate thumbnails. After that, she the application is still open, everything seems to be fixed. But when I quit the application and open-up again, the same problem appears. Sometimes I can see the pictures for a second and they seemed to be squeezed somehow. What can I do? Any idea?
    Thanks for helping.

I suggest that you read Terence's post in this thread and try the fixes he suggests

Re: After Update to iPhoto 9.4.3 some pictures shown blackin response to frank251 | This helped me
There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
    1. Permissions in the Library: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
    2. Minor Database corruption: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
    3. A Damaged Photo: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). (On iPhoto 11 this option is under the File -> Reveal in Finder.) Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
    4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/ Library/ Caches...
    5. A corrupted preference file: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help: As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

  • After updating to iOS 5, my Iphone 4 is not reading my SIM Card.  I went to ATT and got a brand new SIM Card, and it still hasn't worked. Can you help??

After updating my iphone 4 to iOS 5, it refused to read my att SIM Card.  I went to the Apple store (Lennox Mall, Atlanta Georgia) for help, they told me that it was an Att problem, and needed me to get a brand new Sim Card from Att.  I went to Att and replaced my SIM Card to a new one.  I later returned to the Apple store, but the phone still didn't work.  The apple techs blamed the att network, and stated I needed to go home and wait for 24-48 hrs, and retry the att network again, and hopefully the phone will work.  The next option they gave me was to pay $200.00 to get a replacement because my phone was out of warranty.
So I basically I have a phone which has never been dropped, not abused, no water damage or what so ever.  Prior to my IOS 5 update, it worked perfectly without any problems.  Now, that its not working as a result of either Apple's or Att's fault, no one seems to be helping or standing behing their product.  Both parties are blaming each other for the problem.  Can someone help??

I've seen a number of reports of this on here. In most cases where people took their phones in to the Apple store, they were given a replacement, even if the phone was out of warranty.

  • Pages 5.1 not responding after updated from AppStore

I've update my Pages app to v.5.1 in my MacBook Pro and I can't open it after updated. When I open it, it still not responding all time. I've replace Pages app with older version and it can open but I can't open my newer version document that I've edited on New iMac. Anybody can help me? I have to use an iCloud beta now. Thank you

In Pages 5 .plists are now stored within the application bundle.
I will resist telling you to trash any because I am not sure if there are consequences doing so. With Pages '09 it was fine, but they weren't part of the application.
You can validate fonts in Font Book:
select all the fonts > Menu > File > Validate Fonts > turn off or remove those that report errors etc
Also try starting PAges holding down the shift key in case it is simply a damaged Pages file.

  • Photoshop CS2 problems after updating to 10.4.5.?

Anybody notice Photoshop CS problems after updating to 10.4.5.?

Hello I had the same problem
I found the following information that helped me.....
Program errors occur when software conflicts arise due to an updated operating system. You can resolve these errors when you also update the driver software that causes the conflict or when you update the operating system. Program errors can also occur because of a damaged Photoshop preference file, or if there is a problem with a phone or internet connection. The Apple Disk Utility fixes file system errors that can also cause program errors.
Error "Could not complete your request..." or "Could not create a new document..." (Photoshop CS2 on Mac OS X v10.4)
    Issue
Adobe Photoshop CS2 returns one of the following error messages:
"Could not complete your request because of a program error" when you try to open a file.
"Could not create a new document because of a program error" when you try to create a new file.
    Solution 1:
Install the most recent update to Mac OS.
    Solution 2:
    Re-create your preferences files.
    1. Hold CommandOptionShift when you start Photoshop.
    2. Click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
    Solution 3:
    Disconnect your Internet connection.
To disconnect your Internet connection, do one of the following:
If you are connected to the Internet via a telephone modem, then disconnect from the modem.
If you are connected to the Internet via cable modem or DSL, then disconnect the ethernet cable from your computer.
    Solution 4:
    Use a disk repair utility.
Restart your Mac in Single User mode and run fsck -fy . For more information about the fsck command, please visit the Apple website at http:/docs.info.apple.comarticle.html?artnum=106214 .
    Solution 5:
Ensure that all your drivers are compatible with Mac OS X v10.4.
Determine if your printer and video card (and any other peripherals you might have) are compatible with Mac OS X v10.4, and visit the manufacturers' websites to update the drivers.
    Solution 6:
Re-create your printers in Mac OS X.
To re-create your printers, first delete them and then add them again.
    To delete your printers:
    1. Open System Preferences from the Apple menu.
    2. Select Print & Fax, and click Printing.
    3. Select each printer in the list and click the delete key (the minus key).
For instructions on how to add your printers again, see "Setting up to print to a printer" in Mac Help or search Help using the phrase "add a printer."
The one that fixed it for me was solution 6 -- re-creating my printers
I don't know why but it could be worth a try
    Good luck

  • After updating Camera Raw to 8.2.0.94 cannot open .NEF files

After updating my camera raw plugin today to 8.2.0.94, I can not open .NEF files from Nikon 7100
I receive "Could not complete your request because an unexpected end-of-file was encountered." error.
Photoshop CS 6, MacBook Pro OS 10.8.5

That error message usually, practically always points to a damaged or corrupt image file.
If you used Nikon software to copy the files to your Mac, be advised that said Nikon software is notorious for damaging files in the process.  Use the Mac Finder or, better, Bridge to download your images.
A faulty card, a failing hard drive, a bad USB port or cable can also be the cause of damaged files.
I have never seen or heard of that error message being generated on a Mac by a faulty Camera Raw installation or anything other than a corrupted or damaged file.

  • Experiencing issues sending/receiving MMS messages after updating to iOS 6

I, like so many others, have been experiencing problems sending/receiving MMS messages after updating to iOS 6.  Other than that, I really do like the new update.  I have an iPhone 4S with Verizon.  I have been to Verizon, and the issue is not with my plan; it is definitely with the update.  My friend updated her phone also, but her phone is just the iPhone 4.  She does not experience these issues.  Is Apple aware and trying to fix the problem?  It is soooo frustrating!  I cannot send/receive picture messages, nor can I send/receive group messages.  ---  Has anyone come up with a solution to fix it yet, or is it something that Apple will have to do?
    Thanks in advance.

I also am having the same problem. I can't send a pic to anyone who doesn't have iMessage. Also, I don't always get the alert when I have a new message. I never had this problem before I updated to IOS 6. I have AT&T & an iphone4. It's isn't jail broken. I've been reading forums for a couple weeks now and apparently it has something to do with the apn. And I don't know how or even if I can change it. Then I also read it might have something to do with a damaged SIM card. And it might have been damaged when we updated. But those are just theories.

    Hello there, Prashanthds96.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great steps for troubleshooting issues with an iPhone not turning on:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.

  • After updating to Yosemite, MacBook Pro freezes every 5 seconds and is unusable.

Macbook pro was working perfectly fine for first day after update, but after a day it freezes and shows the rainbow wheel every 5 seconds so that I can't even use it. I've noticed when it logs in and I have two options of my accnt and guest, then when I put in my password it takes a while to load with a status bar. Then it will freeze after log in.

I have dropped my Macbook once about 5 months ago
Apparently, you suffered internal damage which is now showing up.
    What do I do?
Take your MBP to your local AS or an AASP.
If I take it to the Apple store, it will fix things obviously, but will I be charged or what..?

I recently got a 2010 Macbook Pro off of ebay and it was on 10.6 so I decided to update to 10.10. After updating it told me to restart so I did. Well after restarting the spinning wheel froze so I restarted it again. It does the same thing. I googled around to see if anyone had the same problem as me, plenty of people did, they said that they found the recovery partition and the Mac started working again, so I tried finding the recovery partition by pressing shift, option, and r (or something like that) and it turns out I don't have one. Then I tried Internet Recovery and that was a bust too, so now in stuck with a $700 paperweight. I'll post the sspecs on my Macbook below -

Do you have a back up? What version of iPhoto do you have? Assuming 09 or later:
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

After updating my Mini (mid 2011) OS to Yosemite, Adobe Illustrator CS6 has launch error: To open Adobe Illustrator cs6.app you need to install the legacy java SE6 runtime. I attempted to install but each time Java SE6 runtime is downloaded it shows up as a damaged file. Now what?

    you can go to:
