After upgrade Freetalk no longer supported

I've had a Freetalk 1200 for years and it's worked great. After the last Skype upgrade it quit working. I contacted Skype that they tell me it is no longer supported. Any ideas?

The upgrade is provided by Freetalk pushed out by their servers not by Skype. My Freetalk still works fine as I'm using it right now. If your Freetalk device is not working properly try to reload it. If the device constantly reboots and cannot be reloaded then it has become defective. Whether it is failed hardware or software in the device (firmware), if it cannot be reloaded then it is defective and there is no other way provided by Freetalk to recover the device. You would then have to get a replacement though I'm unsure if they are producing the device any longer.

• After upgrade can no longer connect to Mac from Windows

I have a wireless network (Linksys) with 2 iMacs, Ubuntu Linux and Windows XP workstations. I have file sharing between the Windows and Mac computers. After upgrading I can no longer see the shared folders on the upgraded iMac from the Windows box. I cannot even ping the iMac by node name, but I can ping it by IP address so it is recognizable on the network. I cannot connect by IP address, however.
I have file and printer sharing enabled on the Leopard iMac. What can I do to restore the former connection?

Thank you! That partially solved the problem. I can now see the Leopard Mac and can open my user folder on it. However, the subfolders give an error saying they are not accessible - permission denied. I have gone through the folders and set all of them to Shared, but this did not make them accessible.

• After upgrade I no longer get prompted for a password to get out to the internet. It just won't connect.

After upgrade to 28.0 the initial password request, needed by the company firewall, is never popped up. Any site I try to connect to will timeout. I tried all existing passwords, and even completely removed and reinstalled Firefox. Still no prompt. If I open Internet Explorer I can get a password prompt there, and after I enter it I'm good with my firewall for the day, so I know the firewall is still acting the same way as before. I'm set to remember passwords, and my homepage is set to open http://www.google.com. So that's the site that used to hold the firewall login ID and password. Any ideas?

A firewall should never require a password, only a proxy would require such an authentication.
It is possible that your security software (firewall, anti-virus) blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox and the plugin-container from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full, unrestricted, access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

• After Effects CS6 no longer supported?

I just finished a chat with a customer service representative.
I own a perpetual license of Adobe Production Premium CS6 that I've been using for a while. Then I made the HUGE mistake to move to CC and try it out. My subscription has ended and I decided to move back to CS6 (took me forever to convert all my files to CS6 compatible though...). All my apps are working really good... Except of After Effects.
Every time I open the program it opens a window message that reads:
RENEW YOUR SUBSCRIPTION
Go to the Subscription Manager to renew your subscription for Creative Cloud and continue using your product uninterrupted...
The customer service representative told me that I do have to renew my subscription or buy a new license... is that for real?
So in the end... even if I own a perpetual licence for a lot of the programs I use on my everyday life (Premiere, Photoshop, Illustrator and After Effects) I still need to pay rent to be able to use After Effects? Can somebody please give me an answer? I'll greatly appreciate this.

Unless your license was acquired as part of some special educational or other similar arrangement, if you paid full price directly for the license you should still retain the license and the ability to make full use of it. You might try contacting Adobe support again to get clarification.

• After upgrade Calendar no longer has repeat function

I have great trouble with Calender and Contact list. Just upgraded to Maverik. Seems every upgrade is downer for me.
Calender gets many duplicates, No longer has Repeat function which makes the calender almost useless for me.
Cannot use Cloud as I get 3 gb use overnight with no idea for what . on limited ATT 5 gb hot spot.
Only have Google Mail. Does Google cause that?
Contact list gets up to 5 duplicate entries.
Impossible to delete all the duplications unless I spend days, Then they just come back.
Long time Apple user getting discouraged with Apple, So many settings and complexity no without Jobs--I miss him.

You don't see this when creating a new event?
Contacts – Resolve Duplicates
Try deleting Google Mail and see if that helps.

• After upgrade system no longer boots, and (apparently) no USB

So I've got Arch installed on my mom's computer. Apparently she did an update and now this: http://imgur.com/AQBZLQV
ERROR: Unable to find root device 'PARTUUID<stuff>'
It drops to a shell, but the shell doesn't work. Possibly because it's a USB keyboard? The keyboard works in the BIOS just fine, but when it hits that screen - nada.
Of course, she's not *that* savvy, so I don't think she paid any attention to what exactly was updating. So far the only information I've got from her is that she updated, restarted, and death.
I'm assuming it'd be possible to get back in there and rescue it with a disk - maybe grub got pooched? I actually had similar problems when I initially set up the machine and forgot some steps...

hey bro, I had to change my hooks in mkinitcpio.conf. Might be a different problem. might be related.

• After upgrading to 5.0, it states my charger is no longer supported?? It worked before upgrade.

After upgrading to 5.01, my Ipod states my car charger is no longer supported and wont charge...

I'm experiencing a similar issue with the charging cord that came with my product from Apple. Once I plug it in, it will charge for about 6 minutes, then "not supported for charging" message comes up. I unplug & replug about 10 times to get an adequate charge. I first noticed this about a little over a week ago after the first round of updates.

• After upgrade to Mountain Lion I get the message "AppleWorks 6.app ...no longer supported".

After Mountain Lion upgrade, I get this message: "You can't open the application "AppleWorks 6.app" because PowerPC applications are no longer supported". How do I access the considerable data I hhave in AppleWorks?

Here is a post that I assembled for a similar question:
Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta. Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion). While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
Workarounds:
1. If your Mac will support it, restore OS X Snow Leopard;
2. If your Mac will support it, partition your hard drive or add an external hard drive and install Snow Leopard into it and use the "dual-boot" method to choose between your PowerPC software or Lion/Mt. Lion;
3. Upgrade your software to Intel compatible versions, or find alternative software that will open your data files;
3. Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels:
Full Snow Leopard installation instructions here:
http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1365439
NOTE: STEP ONE of the instructions must currently be completed on a Snow Leopard or Lion Mac and the resulting modified Snow Leopard.cdr install file can then be moved over to your Mountain Lion Mac for completion of the remaining steps.
NOTE 2: Computer games with complex, 3D or fast motion graphics make not work well or at all in virtualization.

As iMac user upgraded to Mountain Lion lost all Legacy connection with years of Apple/Mac data storage. How can recovery since every default says "no longer supported, After years of Mac software use now it is not accessible ??????

Please provide more details. What version OS X were you using?
Are you saying that Mail faIled to upgrade and you lost your old mail?
Are you asking about PowerPC applications that require Rosetta to run like AppleWorks and Microsoft Office 2004?

• After upgrading to Lion, not able to use Quicken 2007. Get the following message: PowerPC applications are no longer supported. Anyone has a solution?

After upgrading to Lion, not able to use a PowerPC Application (Quicken 2007). Any solution?

Quicken Essentials 2010 has less features than Quciken 2007. Keeping track of investments is one feature I need and Quicken Essentials does not include that function. I may have to consider others financial software, such as iBank4, Money4, iFinance, and Money Well.

• Can no longer connect to certain shares after upgrading to 10.8.4

After upgrading to the latest version of Mountain Lion, I can no longer access certain shared volumes. I have one machine running 10.4.11 and I can connect to its hard drive. Another machine on my network runs 10.5.8, and I can now only connect to the built-in hard drive. There are also 2 Firewire drives connected to that (10.5.8) machine that I can no longer connect to.
When I use "Connect to Server" and enter the AFP address of the 10.5.8 machine, I get a full list of "available" shares, but if I select one of the FireWire volumes, I just get a spinning "rosette" for several minutes and then a failure message. I also have an OS 9 machine that I can no longer connect to on the same network.
I already read the "Connecting to Legacy Systems" notice and still no joy after following the instructions.
Can anyone help?
Thanks!
Jon

No NAS other than an Apple one includes native support for AFP. They all use an open source package called Netatalk that is junk. Many years ago Apple deprecated the old security modules that Netatalk uses.
The easiest solution is to hack up Lion so that it will connect with the old security protocol. Do a search for "lion dhx2" or something like that. Another option is to update your NAS to a version of Netatalk that includes support for DHX2. That is easier said than done. Netatlk isn't as "open" as other open source packages.

• After upgrade to IOS 8.3 iPad Air no longer connects to iTunes

Today I upgraded my Macbook Air to Yosemite 10.3 and my iPad Air to IOS 8.3
After upgrading the iPad I was asked to connect it via cable to iTunes in order to allow for wireless sync.
When plugging the cable in, the iPad starts sending endless alert beeps and the top line of the screen is shaking. On iTunes the error message "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected." appears with every alert beep from the iPAD. No matter how often the OK button is pressed, the message appears rightaway again.
I made a full backup of the iPad Air before upgrading to IOS 8.3 but I am very reluctant to reset the iPad as the same error might come up when connecting the iPad after reset to iTunes and then I would not be able to restore it at all.
Does anyone had a similar experience and/or is there any known workaround?
Many Thanks for any suggestion.
G.W

Thanks for your further consideration, much apreciated. I tried a different cable, different port and did reboot and soft reset. I also did reset of settings on iPad, just in case.
As I can with no problems use the same USB cable and USB port with my iPhone to connect to iTunes, the issue must be somewhat with the iPad Air and iTunes on my Macbook Air. I also can connect the iPad with the same USB Cable to iTunes on a different Macbook with no issues.
I think, best is to do a full backup on a different machine and then setting back the iPad to initial state, followed by a restore.
This I can (hopefully successfully) do with iTunes on a different Macbook.
Many thanks for you kind support.
