Agent uninstall

We did a trial of ZCM about a year ago for the patch management piece of it and ended up selecting another vendor so the server VM we were testing it on is no longer available. We loaded the agent on a handful of workstations at the time and forgot about them after the trial.......fast forward to now and I'm having an awful hard time getting them removed. I've tried unregistering (zac unr -f -s) and doing a local only uninstall with no luck because I don't know the password. I've tried running the cleanup tool as well but again the lack of the password is holding me up. Is there any way to get these agents removed without completely hosing the systems? I've seen some mention of using msiexec /x guid but I'm unaware if self defense was enabled when these agents were deployed or not and don't want to run the risk of making the situation worse.

I made a little progress with this.....running that command did remove casa but I was still left with ZESM. I don't have anything Novell Agent related listed in Add/Remove programs, but the ZESM service is still active.

  • View Agent uninstall failed - View Composer guest server service

    Hello,
I tried to uninstall the View agent 5.3, but the installer hanged on stopping services... portion. Looking at the services.msc, the Horizon View Composer Guest Agent server service was still running. Trying to stop the service manually results in the prompt to stop a dozen more services related to OS. Looking at it, I found that View Composer Guest Agent server has inserted itself as a dependency for BFE, Netlogon, and TCP/IP Protocol Driver services, which also, in turn, makes every services that are dependent on those three services to be dependent on View Composer Guest service.
I am seeing this behavior all the way up to 6.0.2 Agent (not sure about 6.1 Agent). Why is View Composer service inserting itself as a dependency for critical OS services? I mean, really VMware? REALLY??

Thanks Mike and theinfraguys for your suggestions. My problem is resolved.
The solution which worked for me has no logic but it solved my issue.
When my installation stopps at “CcmUnloadWmiProviders. Unloading WMI providers” step client.msi.log file have incomplete entry as “C:\Windows\SysWOW64\C”
At this time I have to restart WMI service and service will not stop correctly so I have to forcefully kill Winmgmt process and setup will continue.
I have to follow same process for upgrading SCCM client.  During client upgrade some time I have to kill ccmexec process too.

  • ZCM Agent uninstall ask for password

    Hello,
It appears that since we upgraded ZCM 11 to SP1 it is not possible to uninstall ZCM Agent anymore without an error (with the cleanup tool or the standard way to uninstall).
ZESM always ask for a password. The fact is that there is no password policy in the Zone..
    What's wrong?
    Thanks in advance.

This was a bug in the core uninstall fixed in 11.1a following the reboot. In the forthcoming SP2, there will be a zone wide agent setting that controls the uninstall password (and agent self defense) regardless of the ZESM license or enable/disable state.

  • Lack of trained support agents!

    Hi all
To start with im a pretty savvy computer user.
When contacting BT and asking about thier unlimited BB i was told by the slaes rep that he had downloaded 500gig a month without restriction and i would not need to worry about a a fup restricting my speed.I asked this because my previous supplier had implented a fup on my line then tried to troubleshoot speed issues for 3 weeks before realising and  telling me about the fup.
Imagine my amazement then to get a restriction for downloading more than 50gig(about 2 years ago)
Until the last 3-4 weeks i have suffered with speed issues constantly(23 mnoths). In those 23 months it has taken over 50 phone calls,3 engineer visits,5 conversations with managers, about 15 promised call backs of which over 10 didnt happen.
An example of 1 support issue i had personally and seems to be typical of the way tech support operate.
This support request was about net protect plus picking up flase positives.
After calling support and going through the issue i had with the first support rep which took about 10 mins and 5 explanations i got transfered to the security department.
The support rep i spoke to here wanted to remotely connect to me to start with after i explained loosely what the issue was.He then asked me to try launching the game.I replied i cant as the file is quaranteened in net protect plus.He then loaded the mcafee interface and could niot find the quaranten section.(A TRAINED SECURITY SUPPORT AGENT!).He then asked me to try launching the game anyway. So i went to the website i use for this(metaboli a legit subscription based service)and nothing happened.NO WARNING from mcafee that it has blocked anything and the game did not launch. Then with out asking me the security support agent uninstalled mcafee restarted my system and asked me to launch the game.HMMMM i thought at this pointas i needed to be connected to the net to launch the game.I expressed my concerns at this point and was told it is ok windows firewall will be on by default.I there fore decide to try to launch the game. When launching i explained to him as this game was downloaded it might take 5 mins to lunch the first time as it would need to unpack files.Ok he said.I then went to grab a cup of coffee.
When i returned the so called securtiy support agent decided to go and surf the net with my computer. That is bad enough that he is using my connection and computer to surf but is made a whole lot worse when you bear in mind he himself has just uninstalled my security software so there is none installed.I was furious at this point and rightly so!!!.Shortly after i returned the game launched fine and the agent then reinstalled my mcafee. He then asked me to try and launch the game a 3rd time which i duely did and yet again nothing happened.NO WARNING from mcafee and the game did not launch. He then loaded the mcafee interface put me on hold for 4-5 mins and asked his supervisor to have a look. The supervisor then found the quaranteen section and the file was picked up as an artemis......The supervisor then tried to send it away to mcafee but the file was too big.He also told me it must be a virus as mcafee had given it a name and not to play it.I then asked why mcafee had given me no warning at all and was told it was not possible to get mcafee to notify me.
After this conversation i decided to check up on the virus name etc to find out some info.I found that the artemis name given to the virus is a prefix for when the scanner thinks a program has been acting in a suspect manner and it might be a flase positive. If i goto the settings in mcafee and turn off scan for unknown viruses the scanner ignores the game and allows it to launch.
Im somewhat perplexed as to why
1.A so called BT trained security support agent would act in such a manner and put a customers computer at risk like he did
2.why does BT net protect plus not notify the end user when items are blocked(not during a virus scan)
3.Why is there no way to add exceptions
I complained after this and was offered 1 month free time but It really amazes me that a big company like BT have not after all the feed back left on these foums actually done something constructive with thier support service. It is a complete joke at best when SO CALLED TRAINED agents can operate and do act in this manner.
I had an almost identical situation today with support india so it would seem BT have learnt no lessons since my original complaint some 8-9 mnths ago. What is the good of complaining if you are not going to learn from it.Do bt really think customers like to complain just for the sake of it????I have far better things to do with my time so come on BT please sort it out!!
sorry for the ammount of text but i felt i had to give my complaint some context

    Hi bifta,
First of all welcome to the forum.
I am glad you were able to find a solution to this though I am sorry for the problems you've had with the helpdesk as they weren't able to get it sorted on their end.

  • ZCM Agent 11SP3 Cleanup tool

    Hi,
I am having some issues with ZCM 11SP3 Agent uninstall as this leaves folders behind. So I try the Agent Clean up tool 11.2.5 but it fails and seem not supported any more.
Does anyone know if there is a new version of clean-up tool for ZCM11SP3 and later.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,

Make sure you remove CASA as well.
I'm not sure if the tool removes CASA by default.
    This can cause logon issues.

  • SCCM Agent upgrade 2007 to 2012 Problem. UAC in ..\CCM\Cache folder

During the migration to SCCM 2012 R2 from 2007, i am using Software Update SUP to deploy the new agent, which will uninstall the old sccm 2007 agent from machines, and install the new SCCM 2012 R2 agent.
I test it in two or three machines and everything just works fine. The machine gets a software update (SCCM 2012 R2 Agent), uninstall sccm 2007, and install the new agent.
When i start testing in larger scale, i notice that some machines are not getting the new agent, and hanging in the removal of the old agent. The CCMSETUP.LOG file is stuck in (MSI: Action 9:09:35: SmsSwDistCacheDirDelete), while the (client.msi_uninstall.log)
    shows :
[9:14:18] ERROR: Unable to enumerate files in C:\Windows\SysWOW64\CCM\Cache\7f2916ad-688e-4497-87fa-6e31d3d0d631.1.System (0x80070003)
[9:14:18] Unable to delete folder C:\Windows\SysWOW64\CCM\Cache\7f2916ad-688e-4497-87fa-6e31d3d0d631.1.System (0x80070002). Retry after 1 seconds
    and that's it.
Hint: if i go to that machine and manually tried to open C:\Windows\SysWOW64\CCM\Cache folder, it prompts me for admin credentials (UAC prompt), if i deleted that folder, the SCCM Agent 2007 gets removed successfully, and the new SCCM 2012 R2 Agent gets
    installed successfully.
Question: since i cannot do this for all machines in the organization, and i need the deployment to go smooth without any actions, why CCMSETUP is unable to elevate to admin right to get rid of the UAC prompt when opening that cache folder?
    ammarhasayen

I can't imagine this being a UAC issue as the Windows Update Agent runs as local System which is not subject to UAC and effectively has God rights on the system. I suspect something else is preventing the folder from being deleted like your AV. You should
run procmon during an installation to see exactly what is stopping the folder from being deleted.

  • Too many alerts after reinstall agent

    Have an issue:
About a month ago we turned off our Hyper-V server without getting it off from AD or DNS. Few days ago we put HDD from its server to another (the same model) and turned it on. Server works OK, but SCOM wend billion of alerts from the host. Tries to uninstall
and install agent (uninstall from scom console, then uninstall using msi from host) and added to scom console - still it generated a large amount of alert (mostly old). Don'no what to do.
    SCOM 2012 R2, Host - W2k8R2 /w Hyper-V Role

    Hi,
If those alerts are coming from rules, then we can use below script to delete them:
SCOM 2012 script to close old alerts coming from Rules

After delete them, we can check whether new alerts come out.

  • Outlook Anywhere Loosing connection : Outlook Event id 26 and Exchange IIS HTTPERR Log : Connection_Dropped_List_Full at the same time

    Hi,
I have a Windows 2008R2 Updated / Exchange 2010 SP3 Rollup 7 (Role CAS,HUB,MBX) with only external users connection : ActiveSync, EWS, OWA, Outlook Anywhere.
4 processors and 24Go of memory are allocated to the Exchange server VM (VMWare).
Netscaller is used as reverse proxy in DMZ.
There is around 500 users connecting with Outlook Anywhere to Exchange. Users are using Outlook 2010 or 2013 with last updates and cache mode enabled (owner mailbox and delegations). Users are location all around the world (around 50 sites). So no users
    is domain integrated.
Users are complaining about disconnection, and Outlook freeze (Outlook is not responding). This happened at any point of time during the day, and for different kind of actions (Outlook is just open, Try to press Send button, try to press Transfer button).
The freeze happened randomly for users. I have seen the problem, and Outlook sometimes freeze during few seconds, sometimes during 5 minutes without any reason. (no file copy, no action asked...)
I noticed that freeze are matching with the Outlook event id 26  on the workstation (Connection to the Microsoft Exchange Server has been lost. Outlook will restore the connection when possible). Also, at the same time, I can see around 200 lines in
the IIS HTTPERR Log (Exchange Server : C:\Windows\System32\LogFiles\HTTPERR) the following lines:

What has been already checked :
Check IOPS: seems to be normal
Check Processor consumption: seems to be normal
    Netscaller TimeOut = 8h

Bandwidth of client internet connection : Traffic do not increase when the problem happen
Firewall TimeOut : seems to be ok
Firewall Protocol Filter : seem to be ok

    Hi,
Thanks for your answer. Here are my comments :
    1. Disable IPv6 then restart your Exchange server
Already done since the install of Exchange.
    2. Confirm if there is any NLB device in your environment, please remove NLB firm client server
There is only one Exchange server in the Org. So no NLB installed on the server (NLB is used on the Netscaller used as a reverse proxy). In Addition, the article apply for Windows 2008, or the server is installed with Windows 2008 R2.
    3. If there is a proxy server configured in IE, please uncheck it
I guess you are talking on the client side. There is no proxy on the client side, Outlook Anywhere connect directly to the internet.
    4. Collect more error logs in Event Viewer in Exchange and collect the IIS logs in
    folder “c:\inetpub\logs\logfiles\W3SVC1”
the error I reported in the description is from IIS, and always appear when end users report a problem. In W3SVC1 file, there is also errors, but those one appear even if Outlook clients are working fine. So I cannot isolate any specific
error. The most common from W3SVC1 log are :

  • SCCM Client Install Loop

    Hello,
I am using SCCM 2012 R2 with CU3 and I identified an issue for some SCCM clients installed on 2012/2012R2 servers.
The client keeps being resinstalled everyh 5/6 hours.
I believe it's because of the ccm evaluation failing.
I found could find the following infos :

I used the client Push to install the client so I first deploy the version 5.00.7958.1000 then install the update CU3.
I already tried to uninstall/reinstall the client but it's still the same.

  • Problem upgrading from SCOM 2012 SP1 to R2 (near impossible to uninstall SCOM agent from Management Server)

I'm trying to upgrade our SCOM 2012 SP1 environment to R2, but I have a heck of a problem getting there.
We currently have an test installation with SCOM 2012 SP1 with Management Server and Console on a single 2012 Standard server. The database are located on a remote server. The R2 setup stopped mid way through the setup, because the SCOM 2012 SP1 agent is
installed. And I could NOT remove it my any normal means. I've tried "misexec.exe /x productcode", the setup, powershell uninstall and so on. Nothing works, because the management server installation is blocking the uninstall. The uninstall says
I have to remove the management installation first. And that's not gonna happen.
I had to follow this guide to finally getting through the setup: http://www.opsman.co.za/forcibly-removing-a-scom-agent-that-cannot-be-uninstalled-by-normal-means/
In addition to searching for the agent msi install key in registry, and deleting everything. After I did this, the setup is working, and the SCOM management server, console and DB are up to date. However, the Microsoft Monitoring Agent are STILL there in
Control Panel. And this can NOT be the most healthy way of getting through the setup.
I'm about to upgrade to R2 in our production environment with 3 management servers, and I would hate to go through this sketchy process there as well. Just for the record, I have no idea why the agents are installed on our management servers.
Any of you have tips as to how I can get rid of the agents more gracefully?

    Hi
    Thanks for the replay guys!
None of those links touch my problem I'm afraid. I have followed the Upgrade guides you pointed to, step by step. But the setup does not Complete. There's problems during the actual software Upgrade of the management servers (3'rd step in the Upgrade page).
I've dived into the Application logs and installation logs, and as far as I can tell, it stops because it has trouble upgrading while the server has the 2012 SP1 Agent installed. I do not remember the actual error text right now, but I can get it in a few
    days.
Anyhow, the setup DID move on once I removed most of the registry information of the agent installation. So. that leaves me to the conclusion that the agent IS in fact stopping the setup. Either the agent are malfunctioning, or the setup do not expect the
agent to be present on the management servers. I suspect the latter to be the the most plausible. At least until Yan Li told me this was normal.
So, I'm not sure what to think. I'm pretty much forced to remove this agents, as this is the only thing allowing me to continue the setup. At least untill I'm told otherwise. But I hate to do it this way. It's so dirty. The registry is pretty much cleaned,
but there's still Application files present, and the agent is still in the Control panel and can be started. It's not something I would like to do in our prodution environment.

  • Desktop agent keeps initalizing, cannot uninstall either

For a few weeks now my Desktop agent keeps initalizing and it kicks me out of the supervisor console. When I try to install another version it says "A conflicting application has been detected. See product documentation for a listing of valid configurations.
There is not an option in add/remove to delete the program either
Used the documents that cisco has on their site to manually uninstall and they do not point me to a useful solution
deleted the folder that contains agent and it cannot install a new copy
    Update
By deleting the supervisor console it removed the agent, this did not fix the issue after reinstalling
    Any suggestions?

Hi and Welcome to the Community!
    I suggest this thread:
    http://supportforums.blackberry.com/t5/Desktop-Software-for-PC/Cleanly-quot-Starting-Over-quot-with-...
It starts with a process for cleanly starting over, and there is some discussion, and there is also a post (15) with links to older Desktop Software versions, if those are needed. Note that this is not, by any means, guaranteed to work...but it has worked for many to resolve issues they are having.
Sometimes, if an older version won't uninstall, installing a newer version and then removing it will complete the removal of the old one as well.
    Good luck!

  • SCOM 2012 R2 Agent Deployment - Uninstall Old and Install New

By chance anyone come up with a scripted method for removing an existing SCOM 2012 SP1 agent and installing a new 2012 R2 agent? While I've come across a few scripts I'm trying to kill a few birds with one stone. This is a cross-domain attempt where the
SCOM servers sit in one domain and the member servers are scattered across multiple domains. Member servers range from Windows Server 2003, 2008, and 2012. In most cases the servers have the 2012 SP1 agent installed and in some cases there are multiple management
groups from previous SCOM standups. In addition there's a separate DEV SCOM 2012 R2 environment to manage DEV/QA servers. Active Directory Integration is configured and I have the necessary security groups created. There is a group policy created which is
filtered to just that security group. So the plan is to simply drop the servers into the correct group and have the agent installed via group policy start up script. ADI should have DEV servers appear in DEV SCOM and PROD in PROD SCOM.
Although there are ways to facilitate agent deployment via the console I need to perform a staged migration against a ton of server so as to not impact the existing production environment. So I'd rather do this remotely to pre-selected servers. This process
should involve removing the existing agent, installing the new one, and if possible removing any existing management groups. So far I've come up with the following:
    Uninstall SCOM Agent:
    %WinDir%\System32\msiexec.exe /x <path>\MOMAgent.msi /qb
    Install SCOM Agent:
    msiexec.exe /i \\path\Directory\MOMAgent.msi /qn /l*v \logs\MOMAgent_install.log USE_SETTINGS_FROM_AD=0 MANAGEMENT_GROUP=<MG_Name> MANAGEMENT_SERVER_DNS=<MSDNSName> ACTIONS_USE_COMPUTER_ACCOUNT=0 ACTIONSUSER=<AccountUser> ACTIONSDOMAIN=<AccountDomain>
    ACTIONSPASSWORD=<AccountPassword>
    Remove Management Group via Script
    http://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/Remove-a-Management-group-336c849a/view/Discussions#content
I'm guessing this wheel has already been invented or maybe there's a better way. So I'm open to ideas or suggestions.
    Any responses appreciated.

Wow! 4 days and no responses, not good Microsoft SCOM Community. So here's a status on this issue.
As stated I have Active Directory Integration configured which means:
I see the OperationsManager container in AD: dev_scom
I see the HealthService SCP and separate OU's for each of my management servers.
I have an ADI security group containing my management servers and scom action account.
I have an Agent security group which will contain servers the scom agent will be deployed via group policy.
I also have an AD LDAP query set to target the SCOM agent group.
    (&(objectCategory=group)(name=DSCOM_ADI))
I finally get the script to install via the following steps:
    Reference:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc754995.aspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc770556.aspx
    http://blog.coretech.dk/msk/install-a-scom-2012-agent-silent/
    1. Launch Notepad ++ and enter the following:
    msiexec /i
    \\server.yourdomain.com\opsmgragent\%Processor_Architecture%\MOMAgent.msi USE_SETTINGS_FROM_AD=1 MANAGEMENT_GROUP=DEV_SCOM MANAGEMENT_SERVER_DNS=YourSCOMsrvr1.yourdomain.com ACTIONS_USE_COMPUTER_ACCOUNT=0 USE_MANUALLY_SPECIFIED_SETTINGS=0 ACTIONSUSER=svc_dscom
    ACTIONSDOMAIN=yourdomain ACTIONSPASSWORD=YourPassword! AcceptEndUserLicenseAgreement=1 /qn /l*v c:\scom2012r2mmainstall.log
    2. Save the script to a name of your choice. For me it's installdopsmgragent.cmd. Watch the extensions as you may end up saving it as installdopsmgragent.cmd.txt.
Note: Make note of this steps in the reference articles listed above:
"In the Add a Script dialog box, do the following:
In the Script Name box, type the path to the script, or click Browse to search for the script file in the Netlogon shared folder on the domain controller."
It's been a while since having to use a startup script so it took me a minute to figure this out. "getting too old 'fer this..."
    3. Copy the script to the Netlogon folder which is located in the following directory on my Windows 2012 server: E:\SYSVOL\sysvol\yourdomain.com\scripts
    4. Launch the group policy management console, create a new policy, edit it, and navigate to the following location:
Computer Configuration > Policies > Windows Settings > Scripts (Startup/Shutdown)
    5. Double-click Startup to open the Startup Properties window.
    6. Click Add and browse to the location of the script which you copied to the Netlogon share.
    7. Click OK to close the Startup Properties window.
    8. Close the Group Policy Management Editor.
    9. Link the policy to an OU containing the servers.
    10. Add the SCOM Agent group to the Security Filtering area of the group policy. I also remove Authenticated Users.
Note: make sure you have a few test servers in your Agent security group.
    11. Drop to a command line and run gpupdate /force. You can also use gpupdate /force /sync but you will have to reboot the box you're running this from.
    12. Log into one of the servers you have slated to deploy the agent to, drop to a command line, and run the same gpupdate command.
    13. Follow this with a gpresult /r command to ensure that you see the policy applied in the Computer Settings area.
    14. Reboot the server and you should see the startup script run.
    15. Log into the server and launch the Control Panel.
    16. If all went well you'll see the "Microsoft Monitoring Agent" icon.
    17. Launch Event Viewer, navigate to the Operations Manager events node located under Applications and Services Logs and validate the logs.
    17. If all didn't go well check the error log located, for me, on the C:\scom2012r2mmainstall.log
My issue: I don't see the management info in the Agent properties.
I installed this last night and waited until the next day still no changes. Event logs show the following:
Event ID: 2011 The Health Service did not find any policy in Active Directory
Event ID: 2003 No management groups were started.  This may either be because no management groups are currently configured or a configured management group failed to start.  The Health Service will wait for policy from Active Directory configuring
    a management group to run.
I see the HealthService is Running in Task Manager on this server and of course I don't see anything listed in the Management Groups registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\HealthService\Parameters\
I don't want to manually add the management group info. Checking as I may have missed something in one of the switches.
    Any responses appreciated.
