AIX6.1+HACMP+DB2 9.1+SAP ECC 6.0 High Availablity Installation

Dear All,
This is to request you that anyone having a sure shot Installation guide /Solution to Install SAP in High Availablity using following platform.
1. AIX 6.1
2. DB2 9.1
3. HACMP
4. ECC 6.0 SR 2
Note: Not Failover by scripting. High Availablity like Microsoft MCSC. Complete installation on Virtual host, IP and Shared File system/stirage.
Please....................................................
Regards

Installing SAP NW07 SR3 with DB2 on AIX HACMP
Scenario:-
DB will run on Node A
SAP CI will run on Node B
If node A fails DB will failover to Node B
If node B fails CI will failover to Node A
Shared SAP and DB filesystem are in SAN
Filesystems will failover accordingly
Requirements:-
SAP NW07 SR3 DVDs
AIX Node A
AIX Node B
HACMP supports node failures. We are not using HACMP to probe Application (SAP/DB) failures. i.e. if SAP or DB process crashes HACMP will not failover the resource groups.
/etc/hosts should have IPs of both nodes
Assumptions:-
PRD = PRD
Node A hostname: dbserver
Node B hostname: ciserver
Shared filesystems
These filesystems can be moved/ failed over (unmounted /mounted) from one node to another.
/usr/sap/PRD
/sapmnt/PRD
/db2/PRD
/db2/db2prd
/db2/PRD/sapdata1
/db2/PRD/sapdata2
/db2/PRD/sapdata3
/db2/PRD/sapdata4
/db2/PRD/log_dir
/db2/PRD/db2dump
Users and Groups will be created by SAPINST.
Please make a note of the UIDs as we have to use the same UIDs and GIDs on other node as well.
User Home directory:- For prdadm please use a home directory on shared disk
For e.g. /usr/sap/PRD/home/prdadm
Use Distributed Installation option in SAPINST
Installation steps:-
Node A:
Mount SAP filesystems
Mount DB2 filesystems
Check /etc/hosts that IP of both nodes are available
Ping both nodes and check the IP address
Check output of command ifconfig u2013a and confirm that both IPs are available
Start SAPINST with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME option.
For e.f.    ./sapinst SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=dbserver
Step 1: Global host preparation (this should be easy to finish)
Step 2: Database instance installation
During this step note down UIDs and GIDs created by sapinst.
During this step please choose /usr/sap/PRD/home/prdadm as user home for prdadm user.
With SR3 DVDs db2 software will be installed in /db2/PRD/db2_software
Step 3: Install SAP Central Instance with SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=ciserver
Stop / Start SAP -> Login and confirm SAP instance is running fine.
Shutdown SAP and DB2
Add entries in .rhosts in home directory on user prdadm and db2prd
For example in /usr/sap/PRD/home/prdadm/.rhots
<IP Address of Node A> prdadm
<IP Address of Node B> prdadm
<all possible IP address> prdadm
Similarly for /db2/db2prd/.rhosts
<IP Address of Node A> db2prd
<IP Address of Node B> db2prd
<all possible IP address> db2prd
Node B:
Move SAP resources from Node A to B (i.e. SAP filesystems should become available on Node B)
DO NOT MODE DB RESOURCES, Let it stay on Node A alone.
Create /db2/PRD and /db2/db2prd directories (this should have some free space, 10 GB is good to go)
Start SAP installation under Distributed installation option
Step 1:  Global host preparation
Temporarily change /etc/hosts and make the IP of dbserver same as ciserver.
dbserver line should be written above ciserver line
i.e. u2018ping dbserveru2019 and u2018ping ciserveru2019 should return same IP address on Node B (NOT NODE A)
Step 2: Database instance installation with option SAPINST_USE_HOSTNAME=dbserver
During this installation, make sure UIDs and GIDs are given same as in Node A.
You can confirm the UIDs from /etc/passwd   and GID from /etc/group
Also, make sure you specify user home for prdadm as /usr/sap/PRD/home/prdadm
Once installation starts ABAP Load and one or two jobs are completed, please cancel the installation.
as db2prd
db2stop force
db2start
db2 connect to PRD
It should be successful. This confirms the DB2 is setup properly.
db2stop terminate
db2stop force
rm u2013r /db2/db2prd/*
rm u2013r /db2/PRD/sapdata1
rm u2013r /db2/PRD/sapdata2
rm u2013r /db2/PRD/sapdata3
rm u2013r /db2/PRD/sapdata4
rm u2013r /db2/PRD/log_dir
rm u2013r /db2/PRD/db2dump
Retain these directories so that you can mount the shared filesystems from Node A to Node B during failover.
Change and correct IP address in /etc/hosts of host dbserver, which we changed temporarily earlier.
Failover DB resources to Node B
Check if all DB2 filesystems are correctly available.
On Node A, check and double confirm that there are no files/directories under /db2 and its subdirectories. i.e. all filesystems have come to Node B.
In our case there was one filesystem /db2/PRD/db2prd which did not come to node B and we had to struggle a lot to find the same.

  • File system for SAP ECC, EP , BI and CRM installation on Solaris/DB2

    Hello,
We are going to implement SAP ECC 6.0 with EP 7, BI and CRM on Solaris operating system with IBM DB2 database.
All these applications are going to be installed on single server, as being a basis person, I know this is not all recommended.
But due to client's requirement and keeping cost factor in mind I need to install all these application on single box.
Now here I need your help. as I basis person, I know the required Solaris file system for SAP ECC 6.0 but not having any Idea about other application like EP/ CRM and BI .
If anyone able to help me with required Solaris file system. it will be great help.
Please let me know if there is any query.
    Thanks.

    > But due to client's requirement and keeping cost factor in mind I need to install all these application on single box.
Why not using Solaris zones/container? This decreases the administrative amount tremendeously since you will deal as with "single machines" but they all run together on one box.
    > Now here I need your help. as I basis person, I know the required Solaris file system for SAP ECC 6.0 but not having any Idea about other application like EP/ CRM and BI .
So you'd need to read the installation guides

  • SAP NetWeaver 7.30 High-Availability installation without MSCS

    Hi all,
Do we have any option to install SAP NetWeaver 7.30 High-Availability System on the third-party cluster solution, except for MS Cluster Service?
I tried to install the first cluster node without MSCS configuration, however, sapinst.exe checks whether we already set up MSCS on this node, then installer aborted.
I'd like to know the way to disable this checks. (Or, way to mimic the installer as if MSCS cluster configuration was done.)
    If unavailable, I have to install MSCS first, and SAP NetWeaver, then also have to uninstall MSCS instead of out cluster software;
It seems to me no sense.
    Best regards,

    Hi Peter,
    Thanks for your quick response.
It is disappointed for me that HA Installation is tightly combined with MSCS.
Do we have a way to migrate from other installation scenario to High-Availability?
For example, once we install ASCS instance as distributed system, then migrate
it for High-Availability usage, leveraged by profile updates and so on?
I'm not sure how High-Availability installation is different from other installation
scenario except for installation path and hostname to be used for connection.
    Best regards,

  • SAP ECC 6.0 and EHP5 Installation with DIMP functionatilty

    Hi Frineds,
We are installaing ECC6.0 and EHP5 fresh installation and looking for DIMP functionality too active in the system.
If we do only installation only  Central Application Usage type then we can directly install EHP5 system  (Central Application consist of SAP_APPL & EA-APPL).
But My question can we get the DIMP also after this installation type or we need to first install ECC6.0 and then upgrade EHP to get the DIMP function..I have not seen this answer any where in the guide or in SDN...
    Thanks.

    Hi Manas,
ECC-DIMP is a add-on to ECC so you can install this add-on or perform a delta upgrade.
Relevant installation and support packages are available on SAP Service Marketplace.
Check Note 874473 - Release strategy for ECC-DIMP as of ECC 6.0
    Many Thanks.

  • ECC 6.0 SR3  Master Installation

I've downloaded the latest version ERP 6 (SR3), the master installation  BS_2005_SR3_SAP_Installation_Master (DVD label D51033511).
When execute sapinst the menus for ERP installation only shows the options : RAPID CONFIGURATION and SOFTWARE LIFE CYCLE OPTIONS. Where is the options for install Central system, Distruibuted system or high availability system ?  I cant to find how to begin the installation.
The last week I've installed ERP 6 SR2 with master installation BS_2005_SR2_SAP_Installation_Master and its working OK.  The same occurs with SRM, SCM, etc on SR3.  Have SAP changed the master installation ?
    Thanks in advance
    Fernando

If you are installing on Windows 32 bit.
    Go to this menu path,
SAP ERP 6.0 Support Release 3 --> Software Life Cycle Option > System Copy> Choose your DB engine--> Source System Export >Central System> Database and Central Instance Export
If your environment offers 'only' 32 bit support, you have to set up your
IDES ERP 6.0 ECC 6.0 system not as a normal installation but as a system
copy. And that means, you have to modify your DB-Export-DVDs on disk (see
description below). The 'System Copy' option allows - due to a missing IDES
JAVA-AS Export - to install only the ABAP-AS, a 'double stack' system is
not possible. The standard JAVA AS - if required - has to be installed as a
    separate instance.
How to prepare the three Export-DVDs for an installation as a System-Copy
in order to use 32 bit hardware:
Copy all three DB-Export DVDs to disc. They have the structure
    - DVD1
    EXP1
    DATA
    DB
    - DVD2
    EXP2
    DATA
    DB
    - DVD3
    EXP3
    DATA
    DB
    EXP4 (not relevant)
    EXP11 (not relevant)
Now move all files from DVD2/EXP2/DATA to DVD1/EXP1/DATA
Now move all files from DVD3/EXP3/DATA to DVD1/EXP1/DATA
    Now modify file DVD1/EXP1/LABEL.ASC
Change the text line in the file with an editor from
    SAP:ECC:600SR3:EXPORT(1/11):Installation Export:CDxxxxxxxx_1
    to
    SAP:MIG::EXPORT(1/::*
Now start sapinst from the Master-DVD with the option:
SAP ERP 6.0 Support Release 3
    Software Life-Cycle Options
    System Copy
    <Database Software>
    Target System Installation
    29.10.2008 Page 3 of 4
    Note 1244548 - IDES ERP 6.0 ECC 6.0 SR3
    Central System
    Based on AS ABAP
    Central System
    and Next
This option allows still an installation on 32 bit hardware and/or 32 bit
    operating systems.
When SAPinst asks for the 'Installation Method' choose
'Standard System Copy / Migration (load based)'
When SAPinst asks for the 'Migration Export' choose
    the path to ../DVD1/EXP1'
The next steps are the same as for the 'normal' installation and described
    in the standard installation guide.

    Edited by: Manjug77 on Oct 29, 2009 2:45 PM

    Hello Manjunath.
This looks like a configuration problem.
Please check if IP_NETWORK is set to the name of your network adapter and
if your IP_ADDRESS and IP_SUBNET are set to the correct values.
    Note:
    - IP_ADDRESS is a new IP address that is not used by any machine in the network.
    - IP_NETWORK is optional
If you still get the same error debug your db2mscs.exe-call:
See the answer from  Adam Wilson:
Can you run the following and check the output:
    db2mscs -f <path>\db2mscs.cfg -d <path>\debug.txt
I suspect you may see the following error in the debug.txt:
    Create_IP_Resource fnc_errcode 5045
If you see the fnc_errcode 5045
In that case, error 5045 which is a windows error, means
ERROR_CLUSTER_NETWORK_NOT_FOUND. This error is occuring because windows
couldn't find the "public network" as indicated by IP_NETWORK.
Windows couldn't find the MSCS network called "public network". The
IP_NETWORK parameter must be set to an MSCS Network., so running the
Cluster Admin GUI and expanding the Cluster Configuration->Network to
view all MSCS networks that were available and if "public network" was
    one of them.
However, the parameter IP_NETWORK is optional and you could be commented
out. In that case the first MSCS network detected by the system was used.

    Hinnerk Gildhoff

  • SAP ECC 6.0 SR3 Cluster failover not working in AIX with DB2 UDB V9.1 FP6

    Hi Gurus,
We have installed the SAP ECC 6.0 SR3 High Availability  with DB2 UDB V9.1 FP6 in AIX cluster environment.
After installation we are doing the cluster fail test.
    Node A
    Application Server
    Mount Points:
    /sapmnt/<SID>
    /usr/sap/<SID>
    /usr/sap/trans
    Node B
    Database Server
    Mount Points:
    /db2//<SID>
The procedure followed to do the cluster failover:
We have down the cluster on Node A and all the resources of the Node A has been moved to Node B.
On Node B when we issued a command to start the SAP. It says u201Cno start profiles foundu201D
WE have down the cluster on Node B and  moved the Resource from Node B to Node A .  There the db2 User IDu2019s are not available. We have crated the user Idu2019s manually on Node A. however it did not work.
Please suggest the procedure to start the sap in cluster failover.
    Best Regards
    Sija

    Hi Sija,
Can i have detailed scenario in your cluster configuration.
Means you are saying that going to start cluster package manually, if it is right please make sure that you had the same copy of start, instance profiles of NodeA to Node B. Means you need to maintain two startup, two instance profiles for both nodes. In a normal situation it will picik the profile of node A to start databse from A node. But in a failover situation it will not pick node A profile to start, it should pick Node B s profiles.
Just make a copy from node A and change the profile name accordingly to Node b. Then try to restart.

  • Installation Cluster SAP ECC DB2

    Hi experts,
I´m installing SAP ECC with DB2 in a Windows MSCS environment. I already installed all the critical components in the cluster, and now I need to install the CI. I´m using only 2 nodes. I have the following doubt:
Do I need to install a local CI in the first node and the local DI in the second node and that is enought in case of failure?
    Or
Do I need to install a local CI in the first node and then a local CI in the second node too?
In this context CI and DI is the same?
Because in the installation guide the paragraph is a little bit confuse:
To protect system components that are non-SPOFs, for example application servers, you have to install them as multiple components. In this case you must install at least two application servers (one central instance and at least one dialog instance) on two different hosts.
    Thanks a lot.
    Kind Regards

    Hi,
    >> Do I need to install a local CI in the first node and the local DI in the second node and that is enought in case of failure?
How did you started the installation? You should perform the steps, under "High-Availability System" So, you will install ASCS first. Then, database instance, ERS, Central instance and Dialog instance

It means that you should have 2 application servers. If one fails another will take all the resources and continue to the service. In short you will anstall 2 application servers in the HA installation.
Read and follow the installation guide, very carefully.

  • Remoted DB2 connection from SAP

    Hello Experts,
We have a requirement to connect the remote DB DB2 (No SAP) which is on I series from our SAP ECC EHP 5 system so I made a below entry in table DBCON -
    Database connection - PRMS_TEST
    DBS                            - DB4
    Username                   - SAP
    *Password                    ***********
    Connection Information - AS4_HOST=S1031993;AS4_DB_LIBRARY=RMTLIB
but while doing the test connection, it gives the below error-
    B  Loading DB library '/usr/sap/ECD/DVEBMGS00/exe/dbdb4slib.so' ...

    My SAP environment is -
    SAP - ECC EHP 5
    Kernel Release 720 patch 90
    OS     - Red Hat Linux 5.5 - 64 bit
    Database - DB2 (DB6)
Kindlly let us know if I have to put the file dbdb4slib.so in kernel directory and from where I can get this file and if my DBCON entry is correct ?
    Regards
    Saurabh Mishra

As per note 663756, I can use the DB2 CLI driver as I am on Kernel release 720 (see below) -
If you use a DB2 CLI driver client, the following changes are required in
the procedure described above because the CLI driver does not support DB2
    CLP and BIND commands:
o The CATALOG commands are omitted.
o The target host and port must be entered in the table DBCON.
For example, the CON ENV row looks as follows:
    DB6_DB_NAME=HOSTDB;DB6_DB_TYPE=DB2/390;DB6_DB_HOST=<hostname>;
    DB6_DB_SVCENAME=<portnum>;
o The BIND commands must be executed by a runtime client.
Alternatively, you can use the DB2Binder utility from Note 784264
    to bind the CLI packages.
Is that mean that I need to only maintain the DBCON entry as all other commands are omitted for CLI driver and license file is mandatory or temp license will work ?
As per note 784264, I checked my CLASSPATH directory and it contain the JDBC driver file -
