Ajax stopped working properly!!

hello
the two pages in question are, http://www.southmoorac.com/matches.php ,  and http://www.southmoorac.com/matchresults.php
they have been working fine, but i have just installed cs4, and have been trying a few random things.
both pages are child pages from a common template, so they both have this code:
<script src="scipts/callajax.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="scipts/callajaxresults.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
on clicking the rellevant radio button to trigger a data sort, matches.php goes through callajax.js , and matchresults.php goes through callajaxresults.js
the problem is, if i click the sort data radio button in matches.php, it looks for a function in callajaxresults.js. - this function obviousley doesn't exist, so it throws up a page error.
it's as if it doesn't even look in the callajax.js file.
if i was to change
<script src="scipts/callajax.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="scipts/callajaxresults.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
to
<script src="scipts/callajaxresults.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="scipts/callajax.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
the problem is reversed. the matchresults.php stops working correctly.
so i'm pretty sure that the problem lies with
<script src="scipts/callajaxresults.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
<script src="scipts/callajax.js" type="text/javascript"></script>
any ideas?

I understand and agree that one would think so, but this will only work with javascript 1.8 (I think, but as no browser supports 1.8 yet!), and then only if one uses namespaces.
The problem with using 2 functions with the same name, is that it may work 100 times without a problem, then suddenly start using the second version, for no apparent reason.
As I said before the script does not matter, this is only a way of loading the javascript functions etc.into the browser, (you could use a function within a function).
