Hi Debasisha,
The steps for to do Alert Framework configuration

Step2. Ensure you are in change mode, by default it in Display mode.

  • Alert Framework Configuration

    Hello,
Can anyone tell me if it is necessary to use BPM in order to trigger alerts with the alert framework?
    Thanks
    dizizmi

    Hi again,
I am having a problem with the alert configuration.
When I try to access the Alert Configuration link in the Runtime Workbench I get a message stating that SSO is not active in the system. I then press the button to logon and enter the user XIRWBUSER and password but the system is not able to give me the access.
I have already done a search in SDN an one colleague add the same problem and the way he solved it was configuring the SSO. I think that there should be another way. I already checked on notes 750287 and 813703 but still have the problem. Any ideias?
    Thanks in advance

  • Should alert framework configuration be transported?

We have configured alert framework in our development box and are questioning whether or not <u>transporting</u> the configuration is <u>standard practice</u>.
We are concerned about transporting alert configuration as we are not aware of a way to distinguish if the alert message is from our development box or production box.
    <b>Questions in summary:</b>
1). Is transporting alert configuration standard practice?  Advantages?  Disadvantages?
2). Is there a way to configure in alert message what system the alert was generated from (XI development or XI production)?
    Thanks in advance,
    Michael

    Hi,
After creating the Alert configuration , and alert caetgory in Development System , you have to transport it to production system.
because all alert configuration details in SAP Alert management in development system, not in production system.
How to transport Alerts see below link

  • Reporting agent functions

can any body xplain how to schedule tasks thru "reporting agent". pls xplain in detailed steps.

    Hi,
The functions of the reporting agent are triggered by Information Broadcasting.
The Reporting Agent was not developed any further. It was removed from the current version of the Data Warehousing Workbench. You can now only reach the Reporting Agent using transaction code REPORTING_AGENT.
    Effects on the Dataset
A migration of Reporting Agent settings and Reporting Agent packages by broadcast settings is not planned.
No more new developments are being made for the Reporting Agent. The Reporting Agent functions are now covered by Information Broadcasting, SAP NetWeaver Portal and the Alert Framework. The Reporting Agent has been removed from the Data Warehousing Workbench. You can still maintain the Reporting Agent settings using the REPORTING_AGENT transaction. These settings can be maintained for queries and Web templates from SAP BW 3.x only.
    General Practices with Migration
The system does not support the migration of Reporting Agent settings for information broadcasting.
The Reporting Agent is a tool used to schedule reporting functions in the background.
    The following functions are available:
    ·        Evaluating exceptions
    ·        Printing queries
    ·        Pre-calculating Web templates
    ·        Pre-calculating characteristic variables of type pre-calculated value sets
    ·        Pre-calculation of queries for Crystal reports
    ·        Managing bookmarks
Note that you can only use the Reporting Agent if you are working with queries and Web templates in the SAP BW 3.x format.
As of SAP NetWeaver 2004s, the Reporting Agent functions are covered by Information Broadcasting. We recommend that you use Information Broadcasting instead of the Reporting Agent.
For more information, see Information Broadcasting.
    Use
           1.      You make settings for the specified reporting functions.
           2.      You assign the individual settings to scheduling packages for background processing.
           3.      You schedule scheduling packages as a job or within a process chain.
The last two points do not apply to managing bookmarks.
    Structure
The Reporting Agent interfaces are made up of two tree structures in the functional areas Exceptions, Print, Web Templates, and Value Sets.
    ·         The left-hand tree gives you an overview of the available objects as well as the settings that have already been made. To give you a better overview, you can filter according to queries with settings in the Exceptions and Print functions.
    ·         The right-hand tree gives you an overview of the scheduling package and manages the background processing.
In the Bookmarks functional area, the Reporting Agent scheduler interfaces are made up of a single tree structure.
    Integration
The following graphic gives an overview of the different functional areas for the Report Agent and its integration:
    See also:
Defining Exceptions Settings and Exception Reporting
    Defining the Print Setting
    Defining the Web Template Setting
    Defining the Value Set Setting
    Defining Crystal Reports Query Settings
    Managing Bookmarks
You have defined and actively saved one or more Reporting Agent settings.
You have created one or more scheduling packages.
    Procedure
Select the setting that you want to schedule in the left Reporting Agent Settings tree in the Reporting Agent Scheduler.
Use drag and drop to assign the setting to the corresponding scheduling package in the right-hand tree.
If the selected Reporting Agent setting from the Exceptions or Print function areas relates to a query with variables, you must select a variant of the query so that the scheduling package can be scheduled.
You are in the view  Change in the right-hand tree of the Reporting Agent Scheduler. From the scheduling package context menu, choose Assign Variants The Variant Catalog. dialog window appears.
Select the variant you want and choose  Select. The system adds the selected variants in the right tree in the Reporting Agent Scheduler in the Variant column.
If you want to create a new variant for the required query or if you want to change variants already created, you have the option to process the variants in both the left and right-hand tree in the Reporting Agent Scheduler.
Select Maintain Variants via the context menu of the Reporting Agent setting. You the see a screen on which you can process the variants for the selected query ( Create,  Display,  Change).
Select the required variants as described above.
    Choose Next.
You use this function to monitor and change the time and date settings on the mobile device.
    Prerequisites
You have assigned the mobile device to a particular time zone.
The synchronization service has been configured.
    Features
    You have the following options:
    Parameters for TIME_AGENT
    Parameters
    Description
    Possible Values
    AGENT_MODE
    Activate or deactivate monitoring
    ON, OFF
    AGENT_HISTORY
Activate and deactivate the log function for the time and date setting
    TRUE, FALSE
    AGENT_HISTORY_INTERVAL
Define intervals for logging (in minutes)
    AGENT_REPORT_ON_FIRST_CYCLE
    Or AGENT_REPORT_ON_SECOND_CYCLE
Define synchronization cycle for sending data if the device is used by multiple users.
Set at least one of the parameters.
    TRUE, FALSE
    AGENT_TRIGGER_ON_SYNC_COUNT
    Or
Define the number of synchronization cycles run before data is sent to server
    Any integer
    0 – Never
    1 – With every synchronization
2 – With every second synchronization
    AGENT_TRIGGER_ON_SYNC_INTERVAL
    and AGENT_TRIGGER_ON_SYNC_INTERVALTYPE
Determine the intervals (type and interval) with which the data is sent to server
    Interval type:
    M – Minutes
    H – Hours
    D – Days
    Interval:
    Any integer
    0 – Never
1 – In intervals of one minute, one hour, one day.
    Activities
You define the values for the parameters in a parameter set (see Defining the Parameter Sets). Use the TIME_AGENT type to monitor the time and date settings.

  • Reporting Agent - Alert Views & Alert Details repeating twice

    Hi All,
I have configured reporting agent settings for a BW Query. The exceptions will be communicated through email. The email has been configured to output Alert Views & Alert Details. However when we recieve the email, the alert views, details as well as the URL is repeating twice. Is there a way to correct this issue. Also URL sometimes is not full, it truncates for some reason. Please advise.
    Thanks a ton.

    Hi,
Reporting agent is available and can be used in BI 7.0 with running reporting_agent transaction but SAP recommends to use information broadcasting instead reporting agent.
Note that you can only use the Reporting Agent if you are working with queries and Web templates in the SAP BW 3.x format. As of SAP NetWeaver 7.0, the Reporting Agent functions are covered by Information Broadcasting.

  • Reporting agent in BW 3.0b- Job log message is-No alert data found

    Hi,
I am using reporting agent in BW 3.0b to send and alert email to the user.
There is a query in which I have used one restricted key figure to calculate the exception. I am able to display this in the report. In Bex analyzer I am getting the value.
But When I schedule the package for Reporting agent I am getting in the job log as " No alert data has been found".
I searched sdn before posting and did not get proper solution for this.
Could you please let me know the use of expception in Reporting agent in BW 3.0b. Do I need to write any user exit for this???
    Reards,
    Raghu

    Hi,
You can define threshold values (exceptions) for a query. Data that varies from these thresholds is highlighted in color or marked with icons. You can use these exceptions to identify deviations from expected results at a glance.
    Defining and Changing Exceptions
    1. In the Exceptions screen area, choose New Exception in the context menu. An entry with the default text Exception <Number> appears and you can edit the description directly.
2.In the context menu, choose Edit. The exception editor appears; it displays the relevant parts for the definition on tab pages.
You can also call the exception editor from the Properties screen area by choosing the Edit pushbutton.
    3.      Make the required settings for the definition of the exception. For more information, see Definition of Exceptions.
    4.      Choose OK. You return to the query definition.
    5.      Choose Save Query.
    Removing Exceptions from Queries
           1.      In the Exceptions screen area, select the relevant exception and choose Remove in the context menu.
           2.      Choose Save Query.
    Result
You have defined or changed an exception for a query. Execute the query. The exception is evaluated online. The cell areas that are affected by the exception appear highlighted in the appropriate color or, where applicable, with icons in Web applications.
You can display the exception descriptions and activate or deactivate the exceptions you want.

  • Alerts not working with direct agent?

    I'm aware of
this issue with the SQL Intelligence pack and direct agents, which I'm also experiencing, but Alerts don't seem to be working with my direct agents either. I switched the handful of servers I had reporting under the old gateway model to direct agents
last week, and added 6 new direct agent servers, I know some of those new servers have the same hotfix alerts that I'm seeing from the old ones, but I have not received a new alert since 11/26 when I switched everything over, and when I login to the portal
    and view alerts I receive:
"No gateway or SCOM management group detected. Op Insights required a gateway or SCOM management group in order to analyze data and generate alerts"
Followed by a link to the deployment guide, when I read the deployment guide for direct agents there no mention of an SCOM deployment requirement.
Any suggestions? Is anyone who is configured with direct agents successfully receiving alerts?

Indeed. Configuration Assessment 'alerts' are disabled with Direct Agent. Please look at the answer given here
https://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/azure/en-US/8241918e-41f4-4429-9a5f-962e96908878/repeated-closed-alerts-emails-on-closed-alerts-in-opsinsight?forum=opinsights with regards to those 'alerts': we are moving away from 'alerts' for configuration-related
issues, and replacing them with those 'Recomendations' shapes (like the SQL Assessment). Those weren't 'alerts' in the first place - those were *proactive* recommendations. For new accounts with only Direct agents, those are not even produced and those screens
are unavailable. We think of 'Alerts' in the SCOM sense: server is down, needs immediate action even at 2am.
In this sense, we think of 'Alerts' as something that should be user-defined and based on searches where you can determine what to alert for, against any type of data - see this idea here

  • Alert framework and RWB

    Hello everybody,
which mechanisms do we have to notify agents of errors in RWB?
    Is this the alert framework?
    Regards Mario

Yes you have to create the RULES in the runtime workbench <i><b>Alert Configuration</b> </i>, than you can see the alerts in the <i><b>Alert Inbox</b></i> or configure from transaction <i><b>alrtcatdef</b></i>.
Please look for this in the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/5b/5d1741b393f26fe10000000a1550b0/frameset.htm">Offical SAP Help</a>

  • Using Alert Framework to send email notifications when Process Chain fails

    Hi Everyone,
I've configured ALRTCATDEF in Solution Manager, selected the alerting option for Process Chains in - RSPC > Attributes > Alerting, but it looks like whenever any process chain fails, an email notification will be sent to the same recipients.
Is there anyway to have an ALRCATDEF - alert category for different process chains, so that different recipients receive notifications for different Process Chains.
    Thanks,
    Ken

Interesting....I was actually hoping for different recipients for different process chains.
    E.g. for our
CRM process chain - Support Team 1
FI process chain - Support Team 2
and so on and so on.
I think the only way may be creating a custom process type and implementing a class for this process type that calls function SALRT_CREATE_API. Then adding this process type to the process chain, with a different variant for each.
However if anyone knows a way to do this in a SAP standard way using the Alert Framework, that would be great.
    Cheers,
    Ken

  • Follow Up Actions - Reporting Agent

    Hi BW Gurus,
I would like to know what are following up action is available in Reporting Agent
    Thank You

    Hi Luis,
    There are 4 steps.
    1) Send Mail- alerts user by e-mail; for example you can send e-mail saying sales qty target were missed
    2) Alert Monitor entry - view results in the alert monitor; you can also give an URL for the alert monitor
    3) Export - Send Data to a work flow for follow up action
    4) RRI Interface - if an exception happens you can jump to another query for a more detailed display using Go To option

  • Question about Alert Framework in Solution Manager

    Hi all,
We are planning to use Solution Manager as Central Monitoring Server, so I want to know what the advantage to use Solution Manager is, especially in Alerting.
We can define auto-reaction methods for monitors to send CCMS alerts to Alert Framework where the alerts can be forwarded to the personal responsible via Email or CCMS.
Is there any difference when using Solution Manager? Which additional functions dose Solution Manager provide in alerting?
In normal SAP Alert Framework, you can only define one receipt for escalation. Can Solution Manager support multiple level escalation? For example, an alert is sent to A, if the Alert is not confirmed by A, then the alert is forwarded to B automatically. The same way the alert can be forwarded to further persons.
    Any idea?
    Thanks!
    Regards,
    Hui

    Hi Hui,
On my opinion there is no any advantage in useíng SAP Solution Manager as central alerting systems in respect to RZ20. The arguments are as follows:
    - in SAP Solution Mnager you have performance restrictions on number of alerts to be displayed in one screen caused by the fact that the alerts are displayed in HTTP format
    - All the customizing in SAP Solution Manager for System Monitoring is Solution specific and not transportable. It means that if you have got corrupted your system monitoring session (that happens not seldom) your settings are lost. If you have created another Solution for the same systems you have to perform customizing from the scratch
    - Customizing is also not very esay to do. I would do recommend to use "User defined Alerts" Please have a look at the SAP Note 1023959 fro this topc
    - SAP Solution Manager does not provide alerting mechanism -> you have to relay to ALM in any case. Here by the way to your second question I would say that it is possible implement exactly process you have described. In the ALM category you can use button escallation to define another person that would be informed via e-mail in case the first Recipient have not completed alert from this category within predefined time
+ The only feature that is unique with System Monitoring with SAP Solution Mnager is the possibility to change threshold values for all the MTEs / MTE Classes that are defined in User Define Alerts an one button click
At the conclussion I would say that there are some custommers that are using SM as monitoring platform But more pragmatical would be to configure RZ20 with help of Rule-based alerts and self- defined system groups and use ALM as alerting infrastructure. In this case you can save in plain XML file your Alert configuration and export it in any other system. ALM has on my opinion enogh functionality for alerting

  • Trapping AF errors using Alert framework in XI 3.0 SP13

    Hi
I am trying to setup alert categories and rules to trap AF related errors - like a SOAP receiver adapter failing to call a webservice etc...
I came across earlier threads that mentioned, alerts will not be triggered involving AF in SP13 - in other words, one has to be on SP14 inorder for the alerts involving AF to be triggered - irrespective of all the settings being done to trigger alerts in SP13 ( End-to-End monitoring, SXMSALERT_PROCESS_DATA_GET etc )
Is the above statement true ??
Thanks for your time in advance.

here is an extract on how to do
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/e5/5d1741b393f26fe10000000a1550b0/content.htm
Configuring CCMS Alerts for the Adapter Engine
If processing of a message on the Adapter Engine fails, the message state is changed to faulty. To notify administrators immediately of such processing failures, they can be propagated as alerts to CCMS. As CCMS is the SAP standard interface to third-party monitoring tools, these failure events may also become visible in non-SAP monitoring tools.
    Configuration Steps
To make use of Adapter Engine alerts, you must configure the connection to CCMS as follows:
    1. Make sure that the J2EE engine on which the Adapter Engine is running is configured to be monitored by the central CCMS system.
To do so, execute transaction RZ20 on your central monitor server. There, the J2EE engine should be visible in the CCMS monitor under SAP J2EE Monitor Templates ® All Systems. If not, follow the steps described in the Supportability Setup Guide for SAP NetWeaver 04 on SAP Service Marketplace at service.sap.com/nw04operation ® Cross-NW.
    2. Check whether the Adapter Engine is configured to report errors to CCMS.
To do so, start the Visual Administrator and select service SAP XI AF Core. The value of property CCMSEnabled must be set to true (in lower case letters). If it is not, change the property value to true and restart the service.
To verify that the setting is effective, select the Visual Administrator Monitoring service. Under Root ® Applications, you should see a node for the Adapter Engine.
    cheers,
    Naveen
