Am I safe to sell my phone?

I dont want to sell my phone, and find out AT&T somehow wont let me get a new Iphone. I just started my contract a few months ago.
If I have to extend it, thats fine. I just dont want them to say, NO you cant take advantage of the pricing since your not due for an upgrade.
Any thought?

My guess is that you'll be fine, but that's all it is - a guess.
Are you wanting to sell the phone so you don't get stuck with a old iphone that has no value?
If that's the case, I am betting that the first gen iphones will retain their value well after the introduction of the 3G model. Too many people are not willing to pay the extra money for the increased fees, need an unlocked phone under a different provider, etc.
They are still a very hot commodity on ebay and Craigs List often selling for way over the purchase price - and I don't see that changing on July 11.
So why not hold onto your phone until you are sure that you can get the new 3G?

Probably safer than giving them the IMEI number.
Just use a buyback service like Glyde or Gazelle.

  • After buying out of of my edge Contract can I sell the phone to my friend? Would it be unlocked?

After buying out of of my edge Contract can I sell the phone to my friend? Would it be unlocked?

Yes, after paying full price for your phone, you can do whatever you would like with the phone.
Whether or not it will be unlocked depends on what you mean by "unlocked" and what type of phone you have.
Phones sold by different manufacturers utilize different radios/technologies and may not be fully supported by phone sold by other providers. For example a phone sold by a GSM provider would not be compatible with a CDMA network. A phone sold by Verizon MAY have partial compatibility with a GSM provider in the US even though the manufacturer states the phone would ONLY be compatible with the Verizon network.
Your friend would certainly be able to get ALL functionality on the Verizon network with your phone, though.

  • Microsoft to Give Incentives to Retail Workers Who Sell Windows Phones

Hopefully this will get Windows Phone some love in VZW stores being today the sale forces do not get any incentives to sell Windows Phones.
Included in the plan are sales incentives for retail workers, aimed at getting them to finally start recommending Windows Phone as an alternative to Android and iPhone. The amount of payments are $10 to $15 per handset sold, depending on the number sold, for some handset models.

Let me guess, after the Nokia Lumia 900 became AT&T's best selling smartphone, Verizon decided that it's worth it to invest in the Windows Phone platform.

  • Hi. My ex girlfriend used her apple id and icloud to register my iphone. and now i want to sell my phone to someone but i cant reset all the contents and password because i dont know her password. we dont have anymore communication right now.  please help

Hi. My ex girlfriend used her apple id and icloud to register my iphone. and now i want to sell my phone to someone but i cant reset all the contents and password because i dont know my ex password. we dont have anymore communication right now.  please help. thnx

No one here can help you, nor can/will Apple. Unless you can get that info, you won't be able to restore the phone, to sell it, or re-activate it.
You need to somehow get back in touch with your girlfriend & obtain this info, or all you'll own is a paperweight.

  • HT4993 If I buy a sprint iphone with a contract,  but I want to sell the phone to a sprint store, will I be billed?

If I buy a sprint iphone 4 with a contract, and I want to sell it to a phone store, will I be billed in the future??

Your contract with Sprint has a termination clause. Read it. If you terminate the contract early, you will have to pay to do so.

  • Hi. I want to sell my phone how can i prevent anyone from recovering my photos and vids??

Hi. I want to sell my iphone but I don't want the buyer or anyone to recover my pics and vids and everything isthis possible? How can i abandon the phone? And how can I prevent the buyer recovering my pics and vids and data?? Thanks

    Two different things -
The phone is different than your Apple ID
Ergo - if you turn off Find my iPhone and restore as new from iTunes to where there is the Hello screen - it essentially has cleaned out your information - can some one still get information from files on the hard drive - probably but the expense to get that (not knowing what you have on there) versus benefit - would deter most people. AND it would mean taking the phone apart - I would not worry too much about that.
I would not delete the Apple ID - you can use that to sync your next phone with the backup

  • Is it safe to sell a MBP on Craigslist?

I am interested in selling my MBP on Craigslist in the Bay Area. With all the laptop crimes etc is this safe? What's the best way to do this?

    I haven't used Craigslist.
I get the impression that it's intended for more local trades, but I am in Alaska.
Anyway, I have never had any problem with electronics sales when I've followed these guidelines:
    1) Use PayPal when possible to be assured that the money is legit and not counterfeit (such as fake money orders).
    2) If you accept a money order or check (please don't accept checks), then cash them at the bank they are drawn against. This assures you that you have cash in-hand. If you deposit them at your bank, and the funds are later found not to be sufficient (or some other problem arises), then they will pull the money out of your account. By cashing it at the bank that it is drawn against, then you know you have cash, and you know instantly if the funds are available.
    3) Always get payment before you ship. Get that money in-hand first. Only ship after you have received the payment and are sure that the money is good (see number 2).
    4) Ship with delivery confirmation. If possible, insure your shipment. I usually place the insurance option as a responsibility of the buyer (expecting them to pay the insurance cost). But, always make sure you get a delivery confirmation attached to the package when you ship. You want to be able to prove that they received it. And, if the potential loss / risk of shipping without insurance is significant, then pay to insure it even if the buyer won't.
    5) Talk with the buyer several times during the transaction. You can usually get a feel about a person through the course of continuing conversation. Pay attention to how promptly the individual responds to your messages. Pay attention to any story line, and make sure you don't find inconsistency's in their messages. Most conversations will have some discussion to them, watch for inconsistent stories (even if the inconsistency is about what they did today and has nothing to do with the sale). Inconsistency can give you a clue that the person is not 100% truthful.
I've passed on many potential sales (or purchases) because the buyer (or seller) demonstrated a slight inconsistency that concerned me. For example, one flag that I remember was when I was talking to a guy about a portable computer he had for sale. He told me he purchased it from a store, then in a later message told me that the one he was typing on at the moment was acquired in a trade. But, he had previously told me that he only had the one computer.
Buyers will make similar slips on occasion. They might discuss payment options, or reasons for using a certain type of payment, or they might discuss their address / residence / shipping location, and later say something that doesn't fit with their previous statements. There are any number of things that could come up in casual conversation. Just watch for stories that don't fit together.
    Bottom line:
Always make sure to receive payment up-front (and have it in your hands physically before you ship), and always make sure you can prove that they received the item you shipped. And make sure you are comfortable with the person before you enter into an agreement.

  • Safe to use Mr Phone USB charger with iPhone 5S and iPad mini?

    Bought this on Amazon.
Mr Phone: Original MrPhone (2400mah) High Power Rapid Charge USB Mains Adapter for Apple iPad Mini/3/2/1, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 10.1, Galaxy Tab 7.0/7.0 Plus/10.1, Lenovo IdeaTab S2110A/S2109A, aPad/ePad Android Tablet PC , TomTom, Garmin, Galaxy s3, Iphone5, iphone 4s and many other devices that can be charged via the wall socket
    http://amazon.co.uk/dp/B00CH3IU2S
Is it OK to use with an iPhone 5s and ipad mini?
My worry is it'll damage the battery. It charges sooooo much quicker than the standard charger.

Who knows ,if you want to charge faster get the Apple 12w charger that is compatible with all iOS devices
Then you don't have to ask is it safe ,it's made by Apple for their devices

As stated in your first post - this phone was given to you by your brother.  So no you actually haven't spent any money on the iphone or Apple.
    You can't quit trolling now.

  • HT201441 if the owner sell the phone to me without logging out the i cloud. and i cant contact the owner. what can i do?

This owner sold me an iphone 4, and it is logged in to his icloud. I wasnt able to contact him. What can I do to activate the phone?

    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5661
It seems that article was updated by Apple.
http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5661If you no longer have your iOS device
If you did not follow the steps above before selling or giving away your iOS device:
Ask the new owner to erase all content and settings as described above.
If you are using iCloud and Find My iPhone on the device, you can erase the device remotely and remove it from your account by signing in to icloud.com/find, selecting the device, and clicking Erase. When the device has been erased, click Remove from Account.

  • Is it safe to sell my iPhone with the SIM card installed?

I sold my iPhone 5 and forgot to take the SIM card out. I deleted everything off it. Do I have anything to worry about?

You should have removed it. You cannot delete anything off the SIM, and the iPhone does not write anything to the SIM, however it does contain your wireless account info. But, since it is gone, not a lot you can do about it, but if the card is not active and disabled by the carrier then the person buying the phone will not be able to use it anyway. They will have to get their own and will get rid of that one.

  • Is it safe to sell yet?

Ok, I bought a new iMac, the Duo Core 2 version, and I want to sell my old Power PC iMac. I put in the installation disc and reinstalled everything. It came to the LET'S GET STARTED screen to start configuring everything after reinstalling the OS. Is all of my information now off of the hard drive?

    Hello,
If you first erased the hard drive, or chose to perform an "Erase and Install", then yes you are fine.
If you didn't do either of those, or you performed an Archive and Install or Upgrade Install, then you should do it over again and erase the drive or perform an "Erase and Install" from the options provided.
Now, even if you erase your drive, it is still possible for special tools / programs to recover your information. You can never eliminate any possibility someone recovering information. But, you can make it more difficult.
If you simply erase the hard drive, that is adequate to protect yourself against most users. Only the malicious would bother to try and recover old files with special programs or tools.
If you wipe the hard drive (can be done from disk utility - under security options), you can make it more difficult. There is a 7-pass erase and a 35-pass erase. The 7-pass erase could take a day. The 35-pass erase could take a few days or considerably longer depending on your drive / capacity.
Even the 35-pass erase is not 100% secure. But, it is reasonably secure against all but the most determined.
In-short, erasing the drive is probably sufficient. But, the other methods are more secure (although not 100% secure).
    I hope this helps.

  • HOW CAN VERIZON EXPECT TO SELL 4G PHONES WHEN THEY ONLY RELEASED ONE SO FAR?

I don't get it but why is Verizon even selling 4g service when they only have released one 4g phone...the HTC Thunderbolt so far?  I think they jumped the gun on wanting to be a provider but not having the goods to do so.

what happens when you change the subject line in an existing thread - let's see  Answer:  It does not change the subject of the original post (thread).   Too bad,  i  hate all caps posts -  other than vision issues - which happened once when I asked why , and should be addressed on the client screen using the accessibility options available on most system.  I just find it plain rude to post that way.  So if you don't have problems seeing,  be polite!    If you want to yell at a Verizon employee, do it privately.   IMHO,  This here is not a place for disgruntled customers - it's for customers who want to help each other with genuine technical and Verizon policy issues.   These issues are best addressed in a constructive, civil manner.   The final redress for any individual vs. a mega-corporation is  a,.  not doing biz with them,  b.  filing a complaint with the relevant federal, state or local regulatory agency.   And of course,  via the press or an independent website.
Now, onto the question,   there's no reason to push the limts of technology on a device with a tiny screen and limited silicon horsepower.    Watching HD video on a 3" screen with earbuds, is not my idea of a good time.   And how fast to I need to download two minute mp3's.     For on-the-go business people,  fast mobile , wireless connectivity is a great tool. Wi-fi is not a true mobile technology - it's wireless in your living room.   At least I ranted in lower case. albeit a long-winded rant.
