AMD's "in box" windows 64 drivers

I'm a little confused by the info in this link    http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/DevelopWithAMD/0,,30_2252_875_10454,00.html
First, are all the drivers in the list "64 bit drivers"?  Or does it just mean the drivers are compatible with the OS?
ATI has "in box" drivers -- same question as above -- 64bit or merely compatible?
And VIA lists KT800 chipset drivers as in box -- is there any need to install the hyperion pro drivers?
Thx,  mark

Also companies tend to send fully functional drivers to Microsoft to include them on Windows CDs and Windows Update page. So the drivers in this beta are some older build of Catalysts, in 64-bits.
ATI will release official 64-bit drivers when the final version of Windows XP 64 is out. And I think that only then the situation could be analyzed. It is now to early to base your buying decision on beta OS and beta or no drivers.
For sure a lot of users would like to se that ATI and Creative and others release their beta 64-bit drivers to public. I would also like to see them as I think it wouldn't hurt anybody and would make a lot of people happy. But if we have to wait for the final version, so be it.
I wouldnt rely on ATI releasing drivers when XP-64 is out of Beta.
In April 2003 they issued a press release detailing their support for AMD64 in both windows and linux.
There have been mainstream non-beta 64bit linux distributions in existance for ~4 months (ok, in reality there have been less general non-beta 64bit distributions for opteron around for nearly 8 months) and ATI have not even so much as announced a release date for their in-house binary drivers in 64bit (JFYI, porting a well written glibc program to 64bit involves adding -fpic -m64 as compiler options for the *SAME* source code; I imagine the effort for 64bit development in windows is equally trivial), so I am tempted to assume ATI have no clue.
Whilst we will no doubt see some future optimisations through making use of 64bit words and the additional registers; there is *NO* functional difference in assembler code between x86 and x86_64!!!, all the compiler needs to do is be aware of the linking methodologies, the different register count  and the use of 64bit words and addresses.  There should be no development time per-se to make equally functional software for the x86_64 platform.  Of course, it is rare to find windows kiddies who actually write clean code ;P
Further note : the in-box ati drivers for winXP64 beta do not appear to support DVI output on ati radeon 9600pro (I had to change to an old analog cable to get video out) and do not appear to support direct3D at all.
I feel it is safe at this stage to recommend nvidia as the card of choice for 64bit in the forseeable future; which is a shame since ATI are IMHO technically superior, but their driver development team have consistently been a let down throughout their entire history (the last two years of XP drivers notwithstanding).
I have just made the painful descision to ditch my powercolor 9600pro bravo edition (radeon 9600pro) for a leadtek a380 ultra TDH (5950) since I have not recieved a single indication from ATI after 38 emails over the past 4 months which would lead me to conclude that they have 64bit drivers under development, let alone intend to provide any at launch time.
btw, all of the drivers I have inspected to date that are included with winXP-64 report themselves to be windows ia32 executeables (all of the ati and soundblaster drivers and some of the wireless network drivers) when inspected with the "file" command under linux, so I suspect MS have some whacky means of piping drivers through their WoW subsystem.

  • Windows drivers on Snow Leopard to use TV tuner stick.

While I know that there are ways to run a windows app on a mac through vmware and crossover, is there any way I can use a hardware (ENTER USB TV Tuner Stick with a 'Xceive XC2028 silicon tuner' chip) which only has windows drivers on a mac?
    Neerav

i found one opens source software call MythTV which supports my chip but the installation is super complex.
i've a set top box which has a tv out and a composite video out. i use the composite video out to watch on my lcd tv. and the tv out is directed to the tv tuner. this tv out is just an extra split of the tv in that my router gets, just incase someone wants both the signals.
is there any way i can make my mac read a composite signal and record it? i've usb 2.0 and firewire 800 port on my mac. that way i can just leave the set top box on and when i want the mac will just record the on going channel for the duration i mention.
    please advice.

  • 15-n067sr problems with AMD Radeon HD 8670M (windows 8.1 x64)

    Hello,
below i'll explain the problem i'm experiencing.
I've decided to install Windows 8.1 x64 to this notebook model (15-n067sr). The problem is that ATI drivers which i download from HP support site doesn't allow me to install Display driver, it only installs OEM profile or something like that + Installer. No display driver, no CCC, not anything else. And it doesn't matter if i choose quick install or personalized. I've tried deleting all the ATI, Intel and chipset drivers and reinstalling them one by one. First chipset, then Intel and then ATI and still Installer won't let me setup any data which is needed for correct performance.
Anyway, i tried to install 14.9 Catalyst from AMD website, also tried beta drivers and actually they install correctly and i can switch between 2 video GPU's and everything seems fine EXCEPT ONE THING : the notebook won't come back from sleep mode , hybernation mode or when the display switches off. I've tried to manipulate with energy options , but still no result. With AMD display driver installed (from official website) the notebook never resumes correctly from these modes, i guess they just don't work at all, display just becomes black and nothing else happens.
    Yes, i've updated my BIOS.
No, with these drivers from HP i can't switch between GPU's and only Intel GPU works actually, i've checked that in TechPower GPU-Z.
I guess i've tried everything possible, but if you can think of any other solution - please let me know, because i can either play games normally and use both GPU's but it's impossible to work with notebook, because sleep and hybernation modes doesn't work, either i can work without any problems, but my AMD GPU isn't avalible.
    Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your post, I will do my best to assist you!
I grasp you are having a difficulty with the switchable graphics on your notebook. You have tried uninstalling and reinstalling and using updated drivers but to no success.
Here is a link to the recommended drivers for your system.
HP Pavilion 15-n067sr Notebook PC Drivers
Download and  save the Chipset, Intel and AMD drivers and save them on your desktop
    Delete all three drivers
    Install the Chipset driver
restart your notebook this is an important step
Now install the Intel driver and   if prompted restart the notebook and finally install the last driver.

  • AMD R5 M230 ON WINDOWS 7 X64 DOESNT WORK

So I just installed Windows 7 ultimate x64 on my lenovo g40 with the amd radeon r5 m230. I installed the drivers of  the graphic card but the system does not recognize it. I looked on the device manager and it shows this:
-AMD Radeon R5 M230 with a yellow triangle.
-Standard VGA Graphic card -working fine
I saw a thread that said that I should install the intel driver and then the amd driver but when I try to install the intel vga driver it shows this:
"This system does not meet the minimum requirements to install this software"
I have tried installing the amd drivers and nothing works. The aero does not want to work.
    What can I do? Thanks

    hi zamter52,
Just to verify, do you have the G40-30 or the G40-70?
For the G40-30, this is uses an Intel Celeron N2830 processor, in whicn you need to install this graphics driver:
Intel VGA Driver for 64-bit Windows
If you have the G40-70, this is either powered  by an I3/i5/i7 processor, and you need to install this graphics driver:
    Intel VGA Driver for Windows 7 (64-bit) - Lenovo G40-70, G50-70
    or
Intel® Iris™ and HD Graphics Driver for Windows* 7/8/8.1 64bit
When finished, install the AMD R5 M230 driver:
AMD VGA Driver for Windows 7 (32-bit, 64-bit) or  try this AMD R5 M230 driver directly from AMD website and observe.
Let me know how it goes.

  • Can new windows drivers be installed without updating to leopard?

I was wondering if the new windows drivers on the leopard install disc can be installed in windows without upgrading tiger on the other partition?
I want to upgrade tiger to leopard but want to wait till i have more time to complete the process, but i do want to check out the new windows drivers now.

How would you extract the drivers from the Leopard disk?
Normally, you create/install the Boot Camp assistant, which extracts the drivers.
Anyone with Leopard installed can always supply anyone else with a new drivers disk, and, I would expect in time that the Windows system itself would be capable of obtaining the drivers. After all the main problem is that manufacturers have not yet written drivers for Windows on a Mac. Once the Mac hardware becomes "standard" there should be no problem using Windows update directly to get new drivers.
This is what I am expecting to happen with my 64-bit Vista install on this box.

  • Where are the Windows Drivers?

    Hi,
When I run Bootcamp 2.0 And try to partition the drive for Vista bootcamps says..."After you have installed and set up windows, insert your Mac OS X Leopard install disc to install additional drivers and other software for windows."
So I went looking on my install discs. I cant figure out where these Windows drivers are. Anyone know?

You can also find the drivers in the boot camp download page. Depending on your flavor of Windows (32bit or 64bit), you'll download different updates for Boot Camp 2.1.
    Go here - http://www.apple.com/support/bootcamp/
On the upper right corner of the screen you will see the Software Updates section. Click on the appropriate link to download the file you need. The files that you download are Windows executables and should only be downloaded in Windows. They can also be run directly from the website, but clicking the Run button (instead of Save) after you click the appropriate download link.
    Hope that helps!

  • Oh my lord, where can I get windows drivers for Macbook Pro?....

Does Apple really not have any place that I can download Windows drivers for the hardware in my August 2010 Macbook Pro?!?  I am trying to use windows through bootcamp, and I am having tons of trouble.  I know there are supposed to be drivers in the OSX DVD that came with my computer, but that is all the way back in Maryland and I go to school in Tennessee.
<rant> Sorry if I seem irritated.  I just got over a total hard drive crash in this computer that isn't even 2 years old.  I have drives that are almost 10 years old in my PC desktop..  The drive that came stock with my Macbook pro was a total piece of crap in comparison to the cheapest notebook drives at Best Buy.  Really Apple?? 5400 RPM 8mb Cache Hitachi drive?? *Pukes in mouth* </rant>

Sorry for the rant.  This is what happens everytime I have tried.  I actually have a booting Windows 7 partition on here already but it is barely running on the stock/generic windows drivers that are just there to get the OS through install.
I have an OSX 10.6 disk, but it is 10.6.0, and I wasn't even able to make that boot into the Mac installer when I installed OSX on the new hard drive.  I had to run my Macbook as a Firewire disk plugged into a Mac Pro and install it from there and update to 10.6.8.  I think this was because the 10.6.0 install disk doesn't have drivers for my 2010 revision of the Macbook Pro.  I doubt that the 10.6.0 disk has the right Windows drivers if it doesn't even have the right Mac drivers.

  • Access elements inside a dialog box/window using applescripts

Am new to applescript. I want to access elements inside a dialog box/window. I tried following code.
tell application "System Events" set procs to processes set windowName to {} repeat with proc in procs try if exists (window 1 of proc) then repeat with w in windows of proc if w's name contains "App Name" then copy w's name to the end of windowName copy properties of w to the end of windowName end if end repeat end if end try -- ignore errors end repeat end tell return windowName
But am only able to get the 4 elements from window: 1.Close 2.Minimize 3.Maximize 4.window title
    Nothing from inside the window/dilog.
Can any one help me with this pls?

    Hi,
    Like this :
    tell application "System Events"
          tell process "App Name"
tell (first window) to if exists then return UI elements
          end tell
    end tell

  • Apple Windows drivers on USB, but Windows says I need to format USB to use it

I set up a 16GB USB drive as my Mountain Lion install disk via the Mountain Lion Installer app.   I ran BootCamp and had it download and put the Windows drivers also onto the USB stick.
Installed Windows and got to the part where it says I have no drivers.
So when I now put in the USB drive to install the drivers, Windows is saying "You need to format the disk in drive E: before you can use it.  Do you want to format it?"    ...but that's where the drivers are.
How was the USB stick formatted originally?  I don't know, presumably with whatever the default from Disk Utility was when I wiped it.
    Ay suggestions?
(e.g....reformat the USB with Windows, reboot into OS X (assuming that works), then have Boot Camp Assistant re-put the Windows drivers on the USB, then reboot into Windows, etc?   Trying that now.)
    Thanks.

The drive must be formatted as FAT32, you can do that on Windows or OSX. Then put the drivers back on it, boot to Windows and install them.

  • Searching Windows Drivers for 23" Display

    Hi,
I got a 23" Cinema Display and I'm using Windows XP.
There is still a "Default Monitor" shown in preferences. Where do I get the correct drivers, so I can set the frequency to more than 60 Hz?
I would appreciate a download link or something where I can find the windows drivers for the Cinema Display.
    Cheers,
    Oli

You can try WinACD drivers (google for it). LCD panels aren't like CRT monitors and are supposed to run at 60Hz, so there's no reason or way to change it.

  • I am lookinat buying an Aspire Netbook with 4 gig ram, dual core amd c70 processor and windows 8, wi

am looking at buying an Aspire Netbook with 4 gig ram, dual core amd c70 processor and windows 8, will it run my cs5 suite

    Mark,
Adobe generally requires a minimum CPU clock speed of 2.0 GHz or higher in order to run CS5 or higher. Unfortunately, the AMD C70 CPU in that netbook operates at only 1.0 GHz, which is far below Adobe's minimum requirement. In addition, even if it did run Premiere Pro CS5, performance will be excruciatingly slow, not only due to the extremely weak CPU, but also due to the complete lack of a discrete GPU with CUDA capability. As such, that system, if it even runs Premiere Pro CS5 at all, would be at least 80 to 100 times slower (in terms of the Relative Performance Index (RPI) in Bill Gehrke's and Hard Millaard's PPBM5 tests) than even a mediocre quad-core desktop PC, let alone a fast overclocked i7 monster PC.

  • Bootcamp 3.2 and Windows Drivers 2.2

    Hi all,
i'm a little bit confused: There's Bootcamp 3.2 and there are seperate Windows Drivers (current Version 2.2).
So, does the Bootcamp 3.2 update include a Windows drivers that are included in the 2.2 version of the drivers download?
Since i updated to Bootcamp 3.2 i have some issues like: Display drivers issue an error (NVIDIA display panel extension can't be loaded), also NVIDIA desktop manager can't be opened (i worked fine when running Bootcamp 3.0).
I thought about running the Drivers 2.2 update, too but since it's nearly 1 year older than the Bootcamp 3.2 update i didn't do so.
Just in case: i'm on a MacBook Pro running Windows XP (NVIDIA GeForce 9400 M, Driver version 6.14.11.8861).
    Thanks: Lars

    Hi,
    it's easy to get confused.
The 2.x Driver packages were introduced with OSX 10.5 Leopard.
The 3.x Driver packages were introduced with OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard.
When you have the 3.2 Drivers installed you are up to date with the Drivers Apple provides.
Nonetheless, especially the Graphics Drivers "outdate" the moment they are released.
There might be a newer / better driver for the 9400 M avaiable at Nvidias website.
As always with driver updates: have/make a backup before or at least a 'System Restore Point'. Just in case.
    regards
    Stefan
