Annoying forum messages

Dear all,
I am not sure how many times you might have been told that
"We are sorry but your message can not be posted since you have used forbidden words/phrases. Please edit your post according to the forum guidelines and re-post."
I cannot believe that you cannot even post threads which has clean words in it.
Can we please filter swearing words and bad language instead of filtering clean questions.
This forum has quite a lot of problems if you look at it.
Sort things out SAP!!

Jehanzeb

Siegfried,
I respect you and every other person who uses this forum. My intention is not to make people angry or create dispute around however, I am sure you would understand when someone (new member) types one question and gets to know that he cannot post it for some "secret" reason which he needs to find out in his post.
Short posts are fine however, long posts takes forever to find what could have been an "inappropriate" word.
I would say if there is going to be a banning list then at least the system should prompt the user which word or words he has used in his post which are inappropriate and cannot be used.
Showing a red message on top of the post does not help at all (That includes a link to a big long article).
I can fully understand your situation and I do know how it feels when some stupid idiot comes into the forum and starts asking stupid questions (I run my own private friends forum too).
However, the question here is to make the system "user friendly" (in other words system usability) as much as possible and not too much of restrictive.
Regards
Jehanzeb

  • How to stop HP Annoying Status Message Windows?

Before posting this message now (July/2014) I've searched for related posts here. I found one from 2009, whose author got a solution through an answer only in 2012 (pasted bellow).  I have the same problem: I'd like to stop the invasive alert messages from HP Solution Center without uninstalling the software, which is very good, but for these annoying stupid messages.  I say stupid messages, because everytime I seat in front of my desktop it insists telling me, for example, that I have a problem: the language in my HP printer doesn't match the language in my computer.  But this is not a problem, it is my personal option! Anyway, HP Solution Center keeps poping up everytime I awake my screen and this is really annoying, even it its messages were accurate.  HOW TO STOP THEM? As I said, the solution found here in the forum after 3 years (2009-2012) doesn't work for me, because there is no "status messages" in my "device settings" (Windows 7), so I could turn them off.  I'd appreciate any help!

Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest reinstalling the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

  • Aperture 3.0.3 annoying warning message

    Hi
I have Aperture 3.0.3 running on both Macbook Pro and first generation iMac. Up until now I have enjoyed and had no problems running Aperture which i have used since version 1.5. Referenced Nef files 30K. Upgraded to 3.0.3 and now have an annoying Warning message that now pops up every 5 mins or so on the iMac.
Warning: Could not understand your search date "February".
I am then given options to reformat search. I do not have any search criteria set, I have tried various searches to try and reset, rebuilt permissions, and generally looked all over Aperture for options that may have been accidentally set. I cannot find any. Macbook Pro version of 3.0.3 is fine.
Any ideas of what I can try next?
    Cheers

  • Tecra M5 - Annoying popup messages when fails automatic BT connection to headphones

    Hi,
I've been using my Sony Bluetooth headphones at work with my Tecra M5 notebook lately and there's an annoying bunch of message that keeps popping up.
In the bluetooth settings, I've ticked the 'Automatic connection function will be validated' checkbox. This causes the headphones to connect automatically and it works a treat.
But, when I bring my laptop home I no longer have my headphones with me and roughly every 5 minutes my laptop keep displaying these annoying popup messages in the bottom right corner of my screen saying the 'automatic connection failed, please ensure your bluetooth device is powered up etc...'.
Sometimes it gives me a prompt in the bottom right corner of the screen asking me if i'd like to disable the 'automatic connection' feature for the headphones.
Is it possible to disable these annoying popup messages when my headphones aren't detected, without having to disable the 'automatic connection' option? I'd still like to leave the 'automatic connection' feature enabled so when i return to work and turn on my headphones again, it will still connect automatically.
But when I go home, i'd like to still be able to do stuff on my laptop without contstantly being bothered by these popup messsages. If there's some sort of registry setting or something to turn them off, that'd be great.
I've downloaded and installed the Blueooth Stack & Driver Version 6.40
    Cheers

Toshiba provided me a beta version of the next Bluetooth stack. It has the option which you are looking for. Just disable the setting in
"Bluetooth Settings->Bluetooth->Options->Audio ->Display message when device is connected."
So just wait until this version is avaiable for download.

  • Inserting images in forum message?

    Hi,
Is it possible to insert attached images inline in the forum messages (similar to what you can do in the wiki pages)
We in our organization are using forum which comes with portal.

    Hi Amit,
its not possible to insert images in forum text, but you can attach images, docs to the forum message. To change attached files size, number of attachments and type you should have forum administrator role.
Forums come with portal are jive forums , you can check administration guides on jive forums in Google.

  • Moving Kudos button on forum messages?

    Hey Everyone -
I found out that I can move the Kudos button in forum messages inside the message body, next to the reply button. I think it may make sense in this location because it is more apparent that you are giving the message kudos.  In it's current location just under the avatar, it sort of blends in with the user credentials and could be overlooked.
I plan to go ahead with this change soon but I wanted to see if there are reasons that the button is better off in its current location.  I've attached two images with the Kudos button in the proposed location - the first is what you would normally see for a message and the second is what you would see if you started the thread and had the ability to accept a reply as a solution.
    Thanks,
    Laura

Moving the Kudos button looks good! But I'm with Ray, can you move the "Accept as Solution" inline with the others? (See below)

  • Annoying error message: ieee80211 phy0: invalid plcp cck rate (0)

    Greetings Fellow Forumers!
I have an annoying issue caused by (I think) the firmware (carl9170) necessary to allow my USB NIC to work.  The issue itself is that this message will pop up on my console and TTY:
    ieee80211 phy0: invalid plcp cck rate (0)
I have searched the forums and found nothing (as of yet). I have, however, found some sparse information on the Internet but it isn't very helpful.  Most of what I've read describes the behaviour itself (the error messages spamming the screen) and developers who figured out that it is the firmware causing this behaviour.  I have yet to find information about how to solve this issue and stop the error from repeating itself ad nauseum.  What I have read so far also hasn't cast any illumination about the underlying cause as to why the error message is being printed in the first place.
LSHW shows this about the USB device itself:
    bus info: usb@2:2
    logical name: wnet
    capabilities:
    ethernet,
    Physical interface,
    Wireless-LAN
    configuration:
    broadcast: yes

    ip: 192.168.1.74
    link: yes
    multicast: yes
    wireless: IEEE 802.11abgn
If all I can do is suppress this message I'll be happy with that.  Admittedly, though, I'll need a hint or two about how to do that.

  • ANNOYING ERROR MESSAGE IN SYSTEM PREFERENCES!!! PLEASE HELP...

When I open System Preferences and click on the Network Settings icon, I get an error message that says "Your network settings have been changed by another application." It just gives the option to click "OK," but after I click "OK" it just keeps popping up. I end up having to Force Quit System Preferences. I've tried looking for the application that changed the settings, but I can't seem to figure out which one. I haven't installed any new programs in forever. This thing just seemed to pop up out of nowhere.
Any help with this would be greatly appreciated as this is annoying as ****...

  • Annoying spamming messages

I saw in CVI and LV sections several annoying messages about earning thousands of dollars easily and in few time...
They obviously are not relevant to this forum. I saw them more or less an year ago in the NI newsgroups.
In my opinion they should be cut away and the sender must be filtered out before he can post again similar messages.
Proud to use LW/CVI from 3.1 on.

If I have helped you, why not giving me a kudos?

    Hi Roberto,
Thank you for the feedback. I have cleaned up the spam messages in the forums. The original messages were posted through the Usenet newsgroups, and were replicated to the Developer Exchange discussion forums (Web interface). The system is set up so that all messages will replicate between the newsgroups and the Web forums. Because we provide multiple ways for the community to participate in the forums, these unsolicited messages can appear from time to time. If this becomes a continued problem in the future, we will investigate the best way to handle the situation.

  • How do I tap what is sent from Firefox when I press Refresh and then Resend the info, in order to recover lost text in a forum message?

    Hi
    Here's my problem
I wrote a text message in a forum site and pressed send.
Then a new page is loaded saying there was an error and I should press the back button to reload the previous window.
I know from experience if I do this I will loose all the info I just wrote. However, if I reload the curent page, the info is sent again as I get a question asking if I want to resend the info. Unfortunately the problem then reoccur.
What I would like to do is to catch the info that is resent, i.e. my written text, so I can start all over and reuse it. The info is somewhere there inside the firefox cache, history or whatever.
    How can I extract it?
Firefox version 19.0.2 on windows 7
    Any help is highly appreciated!
    Thank you, Thomas

    Yiihaaa!!!
Found a program named Fiddler2 that captured the network traffic on my computer in a nice way. Reloading the page and resending the data popped it up in fiddler, and using the built in textwizard function brought me the text back exactly like I wrote it, with swedish special characters and all.
    Fiddler2, what a great program! :) :) :)

  • Stop Apple Discussion Forum Messages

I cannot turn - off the hundreds of emails I keep getting from the Apple User forums even though my profile shows "no subscriptions". And the following instructions to not work as there is no delete button
How do I unsubscribe from a forum, topic, or other item?
If you no longer want to receive notifications for, say, a particular topic, click "Cancel Subscription to this Topic" at the top of a subscribed topic page to end the email notifications. After 30 days, inactive subscriptions automatically expire.
++You can also delete subscriptions from your My Subscriptions page; click My Subscriptions in the sidebar and in the resulting page, select the Delete checkbox for any subscription you no longer want and then click Delete.++
    The above does not work.

    mrdhouston wrote:
The email messages are being sent to my .mac account and not to the one listed in the forum.
This indicates that you have another Discussions account, and the subscriptions you are receiving were set up in that account.
If you're not sure what the login is for your other account, try this: go to this page. Try typing in your .Mac address to see if that's the Apple ID of your other account. If that isn't successful, click on the "Forget your Apple ID?" link. Enter your name and your .Mac email address and see if that gets you the information for the other account.

  • Insert a picture into the forum message body

How can I insert quick VI examples into my posts and have them visible in the message body without someone having to open the attachment to see what I have posted.  I have seen this a lot and I always just using the attachment option only.

    Hi,
I am wondering if there could be an easier way to embed images, without going through an edit process, and trying to get a copy of the link to the image.  It would require a change to the editor.
Supposed another button was added for embed picture, and it would also put a copy of that image in the attachment list.  Since a message number doesn't get assigned until after the message is posted, the image link is created with a dummy tag (and not the local filename as it exists on your computer like the current embed image button.)
Once the web server, gets the message, accepts it and assigns a message number, it would automatically swap out the dummy tag for the new server based tag.
For example, I want to embed c:\testimage.png.  The new special button would let me select the file and also attach it as attachment #1.  It would create a link that instead of being c:\testimage.png would be http://    forums.ni.com/attachments/ni/BreakPoint/placeholder/1/testimage.png   (note: I put spaces in after http: because I didn't want this converted to a hyperlink in this message.
Once the message is actually posted and the actual message number gets assigned, the web server would swap out "placeholder" with the actual message number.
I think this would greatly ease posting pictures, wouldn't require editing, and reduce the risks of the edit time running out before the user has a chance to get all of the links edited.

  • Annoying new message about .mac on my screen, and I don't have an account!

After canceling my .mac account a long time ago, I now get an annoying message box on my screen.
The message box is entitled: WebDAV File System Authentication.
    It says:
Enter your user name and password to access the server at the URL "http://idisk.mac.com/khakifolsom/" in the realm "idisk.mac.com."
It then has fields for my name and password. Whether I click Cancel or OK, the box keeps popping up again. If I enter my old user name and old password, another message box pops up and says this is incorrect.
What's happening? And how can I stop this sudden, inconvenient message from appearing. My iMac G4 and system work just fine otherwise.
    Thanks for any help.
    Maria

There's another recent thread describing what seems to be the same issue. The OS is 10.4.11.
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2084540
What applications are running when it happens? For example, what do you use for writing?
You can do the following test to better isolate the cause. Create a new admin user account in System Preferences Accounts pane.
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=Mac/10.5/en/8235.html
Log out and log in to the new account. See if the problem recurs in that account. If it does not, the problem is something in your normal account. It might be a mis-set or corrupted user preference file, or it may be some process you have running the background (in this case that wants access to your iDisk).
If the process does recur in a new account, then the cause is in the overall system.

  • Getting  Itunes rid of that annoying error message at startup

Ok, I have been scanning these forums for about 2 hours now, doing all those weird steps to getting that "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." message off of my computer and none seemed to work, then finally I tried to do the main thing the moderators have been telling everyone and it WORKED!!! So these are the steps I took to get it working, and I'm not garunteeing it will get your itunes working but hey, give it a chance.
Step 1: LEAVE EVERYTHING ALONE, if you did all those weird steps everyone else said to do...put it back (for example: msconfig steps)
Step 2: Delete Itunes using the Add/Remove Programs application.
Step 3: Now the next thing I did was download the latest version of the standalone quicktime (get it from this website- http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html)
But just to let you know, I'm not sure if it will affect it much or at all, I did not delete quicktime when I deleted Itunes. So that means this time when you download it you'll be updating it
Step 4: Once you have the standalone quicktime downloaded go download the latest version of Itunes(6) (get it from this site - http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/)
Step 5: At this time after you have set both of them up (I set up quicktime first, then Itunes) try Itunes, if it does not work then I have no clue what to do.
Note I had all my security devices going when I did this such as antivirus, firewall.
And 1 more thing, do not get your hopes up from these steps...I'm just a 13 year old kid who fixed his Itunes like this, I'm not sure if it will work for you, but if it does; cool.
