Anyway to replace clip with different durations?

I have a work around for this... resend project to Color with AE renders, then reapply grades... but I want to know if there is anyway to do this with in Color reliably.
Scenario... source clips are 5 min long, but only seconds of the clip are in the timeline sent to Color. AE artist got same timeline for roto work, happening at same time as color session. Idea is to take renders and replace them into Color, clips from AE are to length of use, not full 5min. Color relinks to them, geometry etc are fine, but clip shows up as a freeze frame. No dice. Trim i/o and Source i/o are grayed out, can't manipulate shot in timeline at all to fix issue.

Reconform and/or Import Color Corrections don't work for you?

  • How can I edit multiple clips with different frame rates on the same timeline

how can I edit multiple clips with different frame rates on the same timeline

You do not want to edit material from different frame rates on one timeline. You CAN do this, but it is a very bad idea - and this is why.
Once you establish the sequence frame rate - lets say it is PAL material at 25fps, any material that you drop into the sequence other than 25 fps will have to be changed to play at 25 fps. If the material you add is NTSC (29.97), FCP will DROP 5 frames per sec to bring the frame rate down to 25 fps. Which 5 get thrown away? Every 6th one. This yields a funky cadence that becomes even more complex as as there are also interlaced fields (DV/NTSC is an interlaced format). Oh, and by the way, the image sizes are different as well. DV/PAL has 576 lines of resolution and DV/NTSC has 480. FCP has to scale up the NTSC to fit the PAL frame.
You do not want FCP adjusting these things on the fly. You want to do a thoughtful (and time consuming) conversion so that you end up with all your material in one format with the best possible image from the conversion process. Compressor can do an adequate job with Frame Controls turned on. The Natress Standards Conversion FCP plugin is another way to go. A third option is to find a post house that can do the conversion for you using a hardware based process.
The good news is, once everything is in the same format, editing it will be painless and the output process very quick.
Whatever frame rate/ image size you select, I'd suggest using ProRes for the codec. It is 4:2:2 color and will withstand color correction and composting with much more grace than any variant of DV based codecs.
    Have fun.

  • How can i create a .mov file from image sequence with different durations

how do u create an image sequence with different durations? image one stays for 10 seconds and image two may stay for 30 and so on. each one has a custom duration. can this be done with an apple script or a text file saved as an mov file?

    Hello Omar,
The example code Programmatic Printing of TestStand Reports - Modular contains a sequence that will convert an XML file to an HTML file given the XML file's path and the path to the stylesheet.  It may need to be altered to fit with the modifications you have already made to the report generation routines, but I think it should definitely get you off on the right foot.  Let me know if you have any questions!

  • How do I divide a movie into chapters with different duration?

Using Idvd, I want to divide a movie into chapters using with different duration. I´m trying to do a viedo dvd and I want each song to be a chapter, but the lengh of the songs is different

    Hi
Has to be done in a movie editor like iMovie or FinalCut. And if You want a DVD as the result You should use
    • iMovie HD6 - or -
    • FinalCut any version
    To get best possibly quality
    • iMovie'08 to 11 - doesn't deliver full interlaced video over to iDVD - so there will be a quality loss
And here You can set Chapters - but there are some important things
    • Do not set any Chapter mark in very beginning - as iDVD want's to set  this by it self and get's confused
    • No Chapter mark in any transition or within 2 sec from one - This can be worked around by from Video editor Export out as Full Quality QuickTime .mov and re-import this new file - Here You can set Chapter marks wherever You want except at very beginning.
    • Titles in Chapters must not contain strange letters only A to Z and 0 to 9 are OK.

  • Combining clips with different properties

    Hello
If you have mixed-property clips on the timeline and wish to combine them into one MPEG movie to be viewed on the PC before being burnt to a DVD, which Presets and Export Settings would produce the best quality results?
I am thinking of clip A with the following attributes (screenshot Clip_A)
and clip B with its own attributes (screenshot Clip_B),
but there may be more than two clips. Perhaps a third MP4 clip has PAL properties with different frame sizes to the clips above?
    Thanks
    Steve

    Hello John
    Thank you for your post.
I think I know what you mean: a thick black frame around the clip?
Can I ask: is AVCHD the 'heaviest' (best quality) type of file compared to the others? The alternatives I can see are: Publish+Share | Computer | Flash (or MPEG, or AVCHD, or AVI, or Windows, or Quick Time).
    Thanks again!

  • Is there a way to sync two clips with different bit rates?

I have two clips from different camcorders of the same frame rate but slightly different frame rates. When trying to sync the 2 clips, it's nearly impossible because the frames aren't lining up. Is there anything I can do?
Where I'm trying to sync the two clips is kind of between frames.
    Thanks,
    Bob

    Hi
I only know of miniDV tape Cameras and SD-Video quality - and I use an external program to do this.
JES_Deinterlacer (free on internet) - Mainly I use it to go from PAL (25fps) to NTSC (29.97fps).
It does this so much better that just dropping into TimeLine in FCE/P or switch when going from iMovie/FCE/P to iDVD. They both does a sort of conversion - but the result has to me been very choppy/jumpy and not enjoyable at all.
There are even better conversions - But those are Pro applications and costs are astronomical - and the end result is not that much better at all.

  • Relink project clips with different frame rate

Somehow the clips in my project sequence ended up with a different frame rate (25) than the original media files (23.95), and they are no longer linked -- maybe this happened during import from iMovie.  When I try to relink project files to source media, I get an error message saying they cannot be relinked because they have a different frame rate.  I changed the sequence framerate to 23.95 (by creating a new project with 23.95 as the frame rate, then copying and pasting the other timeline into it), but all the clips remain at 25, so the problem remains.
How can I change the clip properties to frame rate 23.95 so I can link to the original media?
    Thanks.

The media got unlinked importing the project and events from iMovie to Final Cut.
I've attached screen shots with all the specs.

  • Sales of service materials from one SO or Contract with different durations

    Dear Gurus,
I have to make a sales process for some service materials. Yet I could not decided whether I should go for sales order or contract. If contract then which one will be the suitable for my requirement?
    Requirement is like,
for example I have a college courses as materials. so student purchased a course for 6 months from the middle of a month say from 16th of Jan and going to continue upto 15 July so I want the Jan invoice for amount of 16 days only. then the invoice of february for 28 days amount only later the 3 invoices for 30 and 31 days month with respective amount and the last invoice in july month will be for 15 month with the completion of the amount of 15 days only. hence the system should distribute the amount per days of the month from the start to end of the course duration.
in the same order/contract i have a second course for same student where sale of a course for 1 year where he has to pay quarterly so the 4 invoices with with respective amount bifurcation are required.
the third material with the 100% advance payment.and only one invoice on the same day of the purchase of course.
can we do this scenario with single sales document?
If yes what shall I go for? which Sales order or contract ?
I think whether we go for sales order or contract we have to maintain different item categories for these three different requirements. which item categories will suit for these requirement?
Can we have such different item categories in one document where some item categories have billing plan and some of them are without the billing plan?
Gurus I am trying hard to get the solution for this problem and expecting your useful suggestion for the same.
    Please reply. Thanks in advance.
    regards,
    Sanjay

    Hi Sanjai
Go for Rental contract (slaes document type is MV , item cat is MVN) and do the billing plan is periodic billing
if u want to do  billing  in day wise, week wise, fortnight, monthy, quarterly, halferly ,yearly to customer , u have to do the following setting go to  SPRO go to sd-salesdocuments-contracts-contract data-define rules for determining dates
there u have to determine rule table for determine dates
    I Think u r problem will solve

  • Multi-clipping with different frame sizes

I have two video clips that I would like to merge into a multiclip. Unfortunately, they have two different formats. One is an Apple ProRes 422 (1024x768), while the other one is a PAL 720x576.
As far as I know, there's no way of making a multiclip out of the two, so I'm trying to compress the ProRes into a PAL 720x576, but the result is just awful. Considering the ProRes 422 is a screen capture, any suggestion on how to obtain a high quality multiclip out of the two original tracks?
I'm using Compressor and Final Cut Pro 7.

    Let's do the math…
Your ProRes contains a bit less than 800,000 pixels per frame while your PAL is only about 400,000; one of every two of your original pixels is being thrown away or smooshed into the PAL format so, yes, I imagine it looks pretty bad. You can, of course, scale up the PAL but then you are merely doubling the size of every pixel, you are ot adding any new detail or resolution.
Decisions like this are  made by carefully assessing the output requirements, not the editing setup. How will you display the final piece? If you have HD playback resources and needs, you must scale the PAL up If you are going to standard def of DVD, then both of your sources are going to get smooshed into obscurity.
If you have the ability to maintain the highest rez, you can bring your 768 footage into a 576 sequence and, without scaling it so the video is cropped, move it around in sync with your soundtrack so the important part of the screen capture is visible. Export at 576. You will also need a full screen version to handle cutaways.
However, just my opinion, using multiclip for  two inputs is way overkill. Easier to just edit conventionally with two tracks and a razor blade.

  • How to make a multi-clip with different footage formats?

Have an hour-long concert shot with three cameras plus a separate high-quality audio track.
Cameras 1 & 2 are the same format (HDV 1080p30).  Camera 3 is DSLR footage from Canon 5D (imported into FCP7 using Log & Transfer).
I used PluralEyes to sync everything up, and created a Multiclip -- but that multiclip isn't working properly when I drag it into a new sequence.  (It makes me render the whole thing before I can even work with it -- and then it won't work anyway.)
    Help ...

OK.  For testing, I converted the DSLR to HDV (can do ProRes later).
The Multiclip still does not work.  It DOES work if it's just cameras 1 & 2, but when I add camera 3 (the DSLR) -- the sequence wants to render and then when I select "Open" to work with the multiclip, it doesn't work.
I don't understand what's wrong, because all three camera clips were used with PluralEyes and all three have the exact same settings (HDV 1080p30, 1440 x 1080, 29.97 fps).
    What's wrong?

  • Multi-clip with different video codecs. Can it be done?

Is it possible to create a multi-clip when using different video codec (i.e. HDV 1080i50 & HDV 1080p25)?
    Thanks.

Nope. Convert one to match the other using Compressor. Or better yet, convert them both to matching ProRes 422 files.

  • Syncing clips with different video sizes

I'm trying to sync some SD footage with some HD footage, but the problem I'm having is the synced compound clip it creates becomes a 480p dimension, cropping my HD footage. Is there a  way I can designate the new compound clip to be 720 or 1080p and just have the SD footage standard height within that compound clip?

Select your synchronized clip in the event browser. Go to  the Inspector and click the "info" tab.
Now click the button at the bottom right of the inspector and choose "Edit compound clip settings". You can change the size of the compound clip.

  • Capturing across TC breaks, new clips with same duration so out is too far

I logged a clip that had a media start of 00;00;06;13 and an end of 00;59;36;04, making a duration of 00;59;29;22.
During batch capture of this clip Final Cut Pro apparently encountered a few timecode breaks, and since my user settings are to create a new clip at the break FCP created three new clips for me. However the master clips all had the same 00;59;29;22 duration, so even though the first clip only got ten minutes in before the TC break the remaining 49 minutes are in the master clip and they appear as black. The next master clip that was created from the break got a media start of 00;10;22;27 and an out of 01;09;52;18, a duration of 00;59;29;22. The next TC-break-created clip starts at 00;44;08;20 and has and end of 01;43;38;09, duration of 00;59;29;22. The third clip started at 00;59;42;13 and since its duration was also 01;43;38;09 its out point was 01;59;12;04.
So all of the clips were mostly black, and the new out points FCP assigned for the new clips were far beyond the end of my one hour tape.
The master clip's duration should have matched the amount of media that was successfully captured up until the timecode break, and then when FCP created the new clip it should have set its out point to match the original out point.
Can anyone else confirm this behavior?
I have submitted this problem to http://www.apple.com/feedback/finalcutpro.html

    Hi wes,
i think you forgot to mention the version of fcp
    as well as OS X.
I suppose you trashed prefs and all...
Also: if you import clips from the browser do they still have this black?
On finder level do the clips have the size of a 10 minutes clip or of an hour long clip?

  • 15" G4 FW800 Alu Replace Keyboard With Different Language Possible?

I have recently acquired a 15" PowerBook G4 FW800. The unit is Japanese and has a keyboard for that region. I ordered replacement keyboard that is US English. The new keyboard works great. However the layout it uses is still the funky English layout from the Japanese keyboard. Changing the Input settings does nothing. Hooking an external keyboard works fine and has the correct English layout.
When I go into Open Firmware the layout works as you would expect from the normal English QWERTY layout. I assume there is some sort of option in the firmware that tells MacOS X which keyboard layout to use for the internal keyboard.
Is there any way to force a specific keyboard language layout for the internal PowerBook keyboard or is this not possible at all?

Unfortunately that didn't work. The option doesn't show up for the internal PowerBook keyboard.
I had hoped for a more permanent solution like a way of modifying the firmware to change which type of keyboard MacOS sees attached. I would think that it's just a single value that it reads to determine this information.
I am going to take a crack at switching they keyboard again and see if the keyboard layout I created works ok with the US English keyboard. There are a couple buttons on that layout which aren't on the JIS layout so I don't know if those will work with the new layout. The layout is working fine with the JIS keyboard connected. We'll see.
