Aperture allows you to store your Images' Originals on any directly connected drive (must be formatted "Mac OS Extended, Journaled"), and gives you the option and the ability to move your Originals any time you want.
So get an external drive, format it correctly, select the Images whose Originals you want to move to that external drive, and move them using the command "File➞Relocate Originals".
An Image's Original must be on-line in order for you to be able to make adjustments, export, or print that Image. When the Original is off-line, you are still able to change the metadata, and view and share the Image's Preview.
If you are uncertain about the parts of Aperture, my User Tip is as good a place to start as I know .
Here is the topic as covered in the well-done Users Manual. Note that the User Manual uses the terms "Master" and "Original" synonymously, and that it confuses users by refering to referenced and managed _Images_. Image's are not, themselves, referenced or managed. The Original of each Image is a file (the one you imported); that file is the item that is either referenced or managed.

Using a computer, other than the one you have regularily been Syncing and Backing up to, was the begining of your issue.

This is less a question and more of a suggestion and I am not sure where to put it..... I would like an update that would allow you to have a tone for each individual email account

Lost ipod and not sure where, can an ipod be temporarily disabled ?

lost ipod but maybe at home somewhere, not sure where its been lost. can it be temporarily disabled ?, just in case it turns up

I do not know what yo mean by disabled and what model iPod y ohave:
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.
- If not shown, then you will have to use the old fashioned way, like if you lost a wallet or purse.
- Change the passwords for all accounts used on the iPod and report to police
- There is no way to prevent someone from restoring the iPod (it erases it) using it unless you had iOS 7 on the device. With iOS 7, one has to enter the Apple ID and password to restore the device.
- Apple will do nothing without a court order

My question is; my parents and I have a great number of video tapes (Hi8 and mini DV) and since I purchased a MacBook Pro (ME665LL/A) I would like to burn them onto CDs, but I do not know how to transfer those footage into Mac. What would you recommend(it can be a software, a hardware or combination of both)? By the way, I also purchased an external DVD-RW(Asus SDRW-08D2S) separately.

Just Google "convert hi8 to dvd" and you'll find a number of software/hardware combinations that will allow you to do what you want. One important piece of the puzzle is whether or not you still have access to the video recorder(s) that the movies were shot on.

I have a probably & i am not sure where to go about it......

Well, a few weeks ago my earphones started to mess up(i don't use the apple ones. lost them) so i assumed that it was the earphones and bought new ones. well, they did the same thing. and so did two other pairs that i put in, so i know its the ipod messing up and not the earphones. I have had my ipod for about a year exactly. I use it pretty much everyday. so i am wandering if anyone knows whats going on with it for has the same probabem. The right ear had completly stopped working in all earphones that i put in. can anyone help?

My first question would be whether or not your absolutely positive the ipod is "killing off" your headphones. Do they stop working on everything - have you tried plugging the headphones into something else after they stop working with the ipod?
If the headphones don't work with another source then it's not a problem with the ipod, it's with the headphons (yes, I realize that sounds way out there but there's no other explanation).
If the headphones do work with another source then there could be a few causes:
1. The ipod is resetting itself - that happens sometimes if you get a case for it that holds down the center or menu button too long, resetting the pod.
2. The firmware on your ipod needs updated - connect it and see if you can get an update from apple.
3. A short in the headphone jack - then the pod is shot, you'll have to replace it

I'd look at all these sources first. Hopefully it's just a glitch with the particular headphones you're buying.

The exclamation mark means the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. This can happen if you or some other software moves, renames or deletes the files. Select an affected file and press CTRL-I to Get Info. Look at the summary tab and the entry near the bottom that says Where: This will start file://... and gives the last known/expected location of the file. The last part of that path will be of the form <filename>.<ext> where the <filename> is typically <track no.> <track name>. Search your computer for the specific filename to see if you can find where the file has been moved to. Ideally just move it back to where iTunes wants it to be. With luck you'll find that a bunch of folders has just been moved to the wrong place and you can move them back as a job lot.

You will need to delete that iCloud account on the device, then create a new one and login with the alternate AppleID.

Without knowing which phone you have, they all essentially behave the same way when connected to the PC by USB. The phone will be recognized by windows as an external drive. If you get the autoplay windows simply click the drive icon to open it. You can then navigate to the folder with the photos and then just copy them over to the PC hard drive. For instructions more specific to your phone you may want to go to your phone provider's website.

Did you restore the backup of your iPhone 4 to your iPhone 5? That would restore the camera roll photos along with app data, text messages, ringtones, apps and other purchased media, etc.

- Did you sync after you took the picture? If yes could you have copied it to your computer and then deleted it from your iPod? Have you looked on your computer?
- Have you tried resetting your iPod? Nothing will be lost:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home

Lenovo 120GB portable hard drive won't disconnect (not sure where to put this!)

I didn't see any specific forums/areas for portable hard drives, so I thought I'd try here-- if it's in the wrong place, please let me know!
I got a 120gb lenovo portable hard drive over the holidays, and just today tried plugging it in; the only thing I did was check how much space it had free on it (111gb, but I did find out why that is!), but now I can't remove it. That is, when I try to use the 'safely remove hardware' thing, I get a message saying that the device is still being used by a program. However... there shouldn't be any program using it! I was told that normally it's not a problem to just straight-up unplug the usb cords from the computer, but I'd rather not have to do that every single time I use the portable hard drive.

In order that members can help you trouble shoot this you may want to post some more details. Most importantly which OS you are running.
Did you have something like Windows Media Player running when you tried to disconnect the drive? I've experienced the same with WMP running; it links to the drive looking for files it can play / add to it's playlists and therefore Windows thinks it is still in use.

I'm looking for information and pricing on possibly upgrading the processor from the PowerPC to Intel.
While anything is possible if you had enough money... NOPE, you can't change the CPUs to Intel, nor can you get any faster PPC upgrades for it. It'd be far cheaper to buy a new IntelMac than to replace everything inside the G5, and I mean just about everything, then figure out how to machine the case & such to mount Intel Logic Board, Graphic Card & such.
