Apple Store Virus Identification

Hello
I have a security problem with my macbook pro.
Today some update are avalaible for my mac with app store but the problem is that when I have to identificate it is not my email but a other mail that I didn't know and I am the only user of my macbook pro.
You can see a screenshot with the fake email.
Is it a virus ? How can I delete it ?
Thank you
Greetings
Benoit

You installed a hacked app, originally from the Mac App Store. It contains the receipt for a different app, downloaded using an account that you don't control. You need to identify and remove the hacked app.
Important: The app you need to remove is not necessarily the one named in the App Store alert. For example, if the App Store says you need to update "Angry Birds" or "Twitter," the hacked app may be or something else entirely. Don't make any assumptions about which app you're looking for. To find it, you have to carry out a systematic search with Spotlight.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it:
kMDItemAppStoreHasReceipt=1
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
In the Finder, press command-F to open a search window, or select
File ▹ Find
from the menu bar. In the search window, select
Search: This Mac
from the row of tokens below the toolbar. Below that is a popup menu of search criteria, initially showing Kind. From that menu, select
Other...
A sheet will drop down. In that sheet, select
Raw Query
as the criterion, then click OK or press return.
Now there will be a text box to the right of the menu of search criteria. That's where you enter the raw search query. Click in that box and paste the text you copied earlier by pressing command-V.
The search window will now show all the App Store products that are installed. Compare those search results with the list of your purchases from the App Store. To see the complete list, you may need to unhide hidden purchases. If any apps were download from the App Store using other Apple ID accounts that you control, sign in to the store under each of those ID's and check the purchases.
At least one of the apps in the search results is not among your purchases in the App Store. Move each such item to the Trash, after quitting it if it's running. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Empty the Trash.
Quit and relaunch the App Store. Test.

    Hi please help.
I have a iPad 2 , not jail broken, just 2 months old fresh from the apple store. Recently I have been directed to **** sites or a fake bad oink **** application, through various applications. From google chrome app, the photon app and safari.
I always delete cookies and cache on exit. I use photon and puffin to watch flash player videos on tv series site with links such as put locker. I heard that there is no virus for the iPad but Trojans do exist.
Pleae help, at first this was just happening with photon app now in 3 different apps, and it is directing me always to the same **** site. I don't watch **** so it's. it from cookies or whatever and my iPad has been randomly turning off and also the videos are working really badly now. Also there is a message red alert staying untrusted site and hacker may be intercepting your device. What is going on? Please help
Is their a new redirecting Trojan or virus for iPad 2. ? If yes how can I remove it and will it cause permanent damage to my device? How could I have got this virus and in 3 apps. I'm also, worried as I use my iPad to buy things online etc with my credit card. What shall I do?.. Do I restore my device? How do I do that as I cannot connect to iTunes as I do not have a computer, just my iPad. Any help appreciated thanks.

They broke a story on sept 4, 2012 titled "apple's iOS, the new favorite malware victims"
Despite the dramatic title of the article, the only mention of iOS in the body was this:
Even though malware is increasing in iOS, it still remains relatively low compared with other operating systems.
And, it provides no examples or other documentation. And, unlike you, I don't consider CNET "the most legit tech site on the internet". I find them to be generally biased in their reiviews and heavily influenced by advertisers.

The Forbes article descibes issues with the Mac OS, of which there always have been some, though certainly far fewer than there have been on the Windows platform. It goes on to speculate :
All those iPads, iPods and iPhones? Is this going to be a juicy enough target for the virus and trojan writers to at least attempt to attack, even given the difficulty of doing so?
Again, the Forbes article doesn't mention any current viruses, trojans or malware that exist which will affect an unjailbroken iOS device.
    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/15/iphone-malware-kaspersky_n_1515074.html
And, the HuffPo article quotes Grebennikov thusly:
"Our experience tells us that in the near future, perhaps in a year or so, we will see the first malware targeting iOS," Nikolai Grebennikov, Kaspersky's chief technology officer, told Computing.
Again, even Kaspersky doesn't say such things exist now, merely that they might.
Speculation about what might happen in the future or articles focusing on the Mac OS or Android are not terribly relevant. So, if you do have any other citiations, preferably from a source that doesn't derive most of is revenue from the companies it reviews, that document a virus or trojan that affects an unjailbroken iOS device, I would be interested. I have not been able to find any. I thought, perhaps, as a professional, you might know of some.
    Thank you.

They aren't going to do anything, and they have no place to which you can send it. Put it in the Trash and forget about it.

  • How much does it cost at the Apple Store to get a virus off of my MacBook?

I've had a virus on my MacBook for a couple months now, but I live in the middle of nowhere and the closest Apple store is an hour and a half away. I want it to be worth the trip. How much would it cost for me to take it to the store and have them take the virus off? Thanks in advance!

Not enough free space on the startup disk can slow the system down.
Control click the MacintoshHD icon on your desktop then click Get Info.
In the Get Info panel you'll see:  Capacity & Available
Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.

While I am no fan of Best Buy and would not buy a lightbulb from them I doubt you issues have anything to do with your iMac and more to do with your lack of experience and simply getting bad advice. Judging by you post I suspect you have loaded your computer down with a lot of crapware and that  has caused it's problems. For example running antivirus apps on a Mac not only is a waste of time, it's a waste of money, system resources and will eventually create more problems that it solves. Please begin educating yourself on the subject by reading Thomas Reeds articles on the subject, Thomas is a frequent and knowledgeable contributor to these forums. You can find his webpage at http://www.reedcorner.net/tech-guides/
The good news is here are absolutely no, zero, zippo viruses for OS X. There are other types of malware available (for example trojans) however they differ greatly from viruses in that the use has to download and install them, whereas viruses do not work that way. OS X is not like MS Windows and is extremely secure.
My suggestion at this point would be to clean your computer of the crapware (including antivirus apps) however before doing so please download and install EtreCheck and post its report. Then we can see how your computer has been configured and begin to give you some advice on the next steps.

  • MacBook Pro keeps restarting even after going to the Apple Store

I have a mid-2010 MacBook Pro 15" and it's been really acting up lately. It began randomly going black with the keyboard still lit up and then rebooted itself without warning. When I updated to Mavericks, it started happening multiple times a day. I did a virus scan, repaired the Disk Permissions, basically tried every troubleshooting method I could on my own. Nothing would help it so I finally took it to the Apple Store and they decided I should wipe everything off my hard drive, do a clean install of Mavericks and then restore my files and settings from Time Machine. They did everything (except Time Machine) for me and it seemed to fix the problem at first. My laptop was even much faster. But then it started happening maybe once every one or two days, and now it's randomly restarted 8 times since last night. It’s so frustrating. I’ve noticed that it often restarts when I’m using iMessage. When it restarts and my iPhone is plugged in, it always asks, sometimes even twice, if the phone should trust the computer…it’s like doesn’t even recognize the device when starting up. There are also some other problems with my laptop - my DVD drive spits out everything I put into it and my battery needs to be serviced/replaced. Do you think it could have to do with the battery, even though this usually happens when the laptop is plugged in? There were no problems with my hard drive at the Apple Store and they ignored that my battery had to be serviced, so maybe that’s not it. What could the problem possibly be? Let me know what other information I have to provide in order to figure it out. Please help! Thank you so much.

Thank you for your help everyone
So Friday night I took my laptop back to the Apple Store. They noted that my battery was on its way out, but they didn’t think that was the problem, so they kept it over the weekend to run diagnostics. Upon further investigation, they decided that the battery WAS the problem causing the restarts, so I had them replace it…but it’s still restarting! I got the computer back yesterday evening and it’s already happened 8 times. It just randomly reboots out of the blue without any warning. I can’t imagine what else the problem could be. I was wondering if maybe it is just a problem with Mavericks since the operating system is new and it seems to be happening to quite a few people. I tried to take note of what I suspected might be causing it - it often crashes when using iMessage, for example, so I tried keeping that application closed, but it didn't stop the rebooting.
Here is my most recent report, if that helps at all. I'm desperate to have this problem fixed so any help/insight is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much.

  • My MacBook Pro is malfunctioning and I do not have Applecare. Can I still take it to an Apple Store to have it looked at?

It all started after I downloaded the Maverick operating system. My computer gets "stuck" on different programs and I have to force shut it off by holding down the power button. First it started with changing the desktop background in system preferences, then my iPhoto would freeze up, now my iTunes is freezing up and I cannot sync my devices. I tried backing up my system but that won't even work either. Along with this, different programs on my computer now just close out unexpectedly. I am thinking it is either a virus or a software problem. I don't have AppleCare though, so what can I do? I don't live near any Apple Stores so I want to make sure I can actually do something about this before I drive some long distance to go find an Apple Store.

You can save yourself a trip by doing everything the Apple "Geniuses" will do.
    1. Run the Apple Hardware Test. It will show nothing wrong.
    2. Reinstall OS X. There will be no change.
    3. Back up your data, erase the startup volume in Recovery mode, and install the OS again. Test without restoring any of your data. If you can't reproduce the problem with the machine in that state, then it's solved, as far as the "Geniuses" are concerned.
When you restore your data from the backup, the problem will reappear. Go back to the Apple Store, and the cycle will be repeated.
If you expect an Apple "Genius" to help you solve a problem with incompatible third-party software, which is what this probably is, you're going to be sorely disappointed. They're not allowed to do that, and they don't know how.

  • My Macbook Pro *****! I have had it for 2 weeks now, got it brand new at the apple store, it freezes all the time, and reboots itself, sometimes when i start it, purple dots cover the screen and i have to hold the power button.

I have had it for 2 weeks now, got it brand new at the apple store, it freezes all the time, and reboots itself, sometimes when i start it, purple dots cover the screen and i have to hold the power button. a 2 week old computer is not supposed to do this! it wastes all its time being so flashy that it just craps out all the time. sometimes i feel like i should have stayed with my virus covered PC. at least when it shut down randomly you could turn it back on, but with the macbook pro, it just keeps restarting itself over and over. need help with this, any answers?

Here's a novel thought. Take it back to the vendor. Should have done that one week ago.

  • Can the Apple store unlock my passcode for me for my iPhone?? HELP.

I changed my passcode on my iPhone 4 (I don't know if it is CDMA or GSM) and now can’t remember it and after multiple attempts to guess it I have been locked out of my phone (and the phone says “iPhone disabled. Connect to iTunes”). I know how to restore my phone by going through iTunes, however since I did not back it up for many, many months now, I do not want to lose all of my data. When I try to connect it to iTunes it says that my phone cannot connect to iTunes because my phone needs to be unlocked first….I cannot unlock my phone because not only do I not know the passcode, but the keypad to enter in the passcode is no longer visible because the phone has been disabled….therefore since I cannot connect to iTunes I cannot back up my device before I restore it. I know how to restore it, yes, but the issue is not wanting to lose my data because of it since I can't back it up.
My question is: if I bring my iPhone into an Apple store will they be able to either unlock my passcode for me (provided I have identification of ownership i.e. account number and verification) or will they be able to back up my data (then restore it and then put my data back onto my phone)? PLEASE HELP!!!!

It sound like  are asking about simply passcode unlocking, not carrier unlocking.
If you have forgotten your passcode, then you will need to restore and you will lose everything that you have failed to store on your computer.
Apple, nor your carrier can do anything about this.
    Sorry.

  • Stolen credit card use at apple store

on Tuesday 4/2/13  2 credit cards  (visa and amex ) were lifted from my change purse.wallet.I got an email stating congrats on a new MAC. well i don't have a new mac.
someone at the apple store in bethesda allowed a $6600+ dollar amount to be charged on the stolen amex card. anyone in the store verifying identity of the purchaser against the name on the card?
I called the store today got an automated response requested a manager put on hold for > 25 min. no response.
I called back asking the automated responder for customer service. explained my situation. Asked if I had filled out a police report. I said I called the credit card company to cancel the card. the person said this is a manger problem but no managers available stating he was only the receptionist. got my number and name and would get back to me.
the receptionist did not give my a feeling of any urgency or concern on his part. The store allowing a Mac computer to leave the store via a fradulent transaction is a loss for all.

    Then call the police.
Contest the charge with the card issuer.
Visa, MasterCard, Amex, etc. have implemented an incredibly stupid rule over the last few years that prohibits retailers for asking for idendification if the card is signed and they do not have reason to believe the card is stolen.
When you get the replacement cards do NOT sign them. Write " C I D " in the signature space (see ID). When the clerk at whatever store checks to make sure it's signed, they should see that and ask for identification.
No one at Apple can address your problem. You need to take it up with the card issuer.

when i use the apple store, Your request is temporarily unable to be processed. what is wrong with it? can someone help me?

Try turning off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security (or Security & Privacy) > Firewall
Disable anti virus software if you have that installed before downloading media from the App Store.
When you post for help, please tell us which Mac OS X you have installed. Thanks !

  • I need to replace macbook 2009 disc does apple store do it?

I upgraded to Maverick and had lots of the same problems other people have had. However, I was able to fix most of them -- except my Samsung monitor doesn't seem to want to connect anymore, I see the spiral of death way too often, my computer is freezing, etc. SO I think the real issue may well be that my disc is failing. Has anyone had to replace their discs. Did the Apple store do it? There's a good place in Evanston that I can go to tomorrow for help. I have an appt at an Apple store today to learn about Maverick. But it would be really good if I had the right questions to ask. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

There are a few caveats.  While it is true that there are no viruses currently in the wild that will infect your Mac that you may encounter on a Windows machine simply by visiting certain websites.  That does not mean that you do not need to exercise reasonable care in terms of what you download and install.  If you download programs from torrent sites or other questionable websites and authorize their installation, those programs can contain things just as harmful as you would find on a PC.  I only bring this up becuase the impression is sometimes given that a Mac "can't" be infected by a virus or malware which can lead people to believe they can do whatever they want without fear of consequences.
Also... if you share files with Windows users, it is possible that you can receive an infected file (which can't infect your Mac) and pass it on to other Windows users.
Basically, if you don't download questionable material, your Mac will be fine.  If you share files with Windows users, you may want to install something to scan those just to make sure you don't pass anything on to anyone else.  The most common Mac antivirus program is ClamXav which is free:
