AppleCare+ iPhone 5

I preordered iPhone 5 on the 14th and got an email from Apple on the 19th asking if I wanted AppleCare+ added to my order and I replied yes. My card was charged immediately and I checked the status of the order and it said processing. On the 21st I called Apple because the status hasn't changed and neither has the warranty date (September 20,2013). They put me on hold for 10 minutes and said that I would take less than 24hrs for it to be completed. Its now been almost 4 days now but the warranty expiration day is still September 20,2013. Isn't it two years? Should I give it a few more days? Also If anyone had a similar situation last year with iPhone 4S or this year please let me know on how it went. Thanks

I called and they told me that it would take 2-3 weeks for it to be available online but i'm still covered no matter what. For a moment I thought they put AppleCare+ on someone else's iPhone becuase they couldnt find it for mine.

  • Does anyone have a AppleCare iPhone

If you have an AppleCare replacement iPhone, did you ask them how much they would charge you if you kept that iPhone and then when the new one came in, you just kept the replacement phone ....
Would they charge your credit card $600? $500? They are sending out 8GB iPhone loaners....
I have the replacement AppleCare phone, and I am to return my defective iPhone, but the defect is mostly the SIM door is out of wack.. The volume is higher than the other 2 iPhones, and that includes the replacement loaner AppleCare iPhone.

I think I'd rather put the iPhone SIM in my old (non iPhone) for the few days it should take to repair a defective iPhone

  • Applecare iPhone Replacement Wrong Carrier Prevents Activation

Does anyone know how to make a locked iPhone 4S change the "carrier" to Sprint (from Verizon)?
Sprint regonizes the MEID and will activate the phone, I just need the phone to communicate with Sprint, not Verizon.
    Details
I have a Sprint iPhone 4S. I cracked my screen so I requested a replacement through my AppleCare+ plan.
They sent it out right away. I went to sprint.com and registered the MEID to my line, restarted the phone to activate, and......failure.
Tried restoring, updating, restarting, erase all content and settings, added Sprint sim card ....... failure.
Tried calling Sprint to help me........ failure.
Then I looked a little closer at Genereral/About/Carrier. It is setup for Verizon.
Called AppleCare, my ace in the hole I thought, WRONG. I explained everything and they advised me the hardware is the same Verizon or Sprint and that it their system and they will update it in 24 hours or less. Did not happen!!!
    THIS MAKES NO SENSE!
If I buy any USA Sprint iPhone, I can make it work in 5 minutes. I tell sprint what the ID of the phone is, they talk to each other, and I have service.
But AppleCare says that it is ok that the phone is looking for Verizon instead of Sprint, it is their system that needs to be updated, not the phone.
Now 24 hours is up and still nothing. They won't send a phone that will work with Sprint, they will not help at all. This is not the Apple service I fell in love with, this is a nightmare.
I am on my own now, this is what Apple has become. Maybe someone out there can help me.

Call back Applecare - they need to step in and fix.   If the person you get on the first go around is unable or unwilling, you need to call Corporate.   They are much better at resolving difficult issues.

  • AppleCare iPhone 5. Purchased in Israel

Hello, I bought an iPhone 5 from Israel. Here in Israel i can't extened my warranty as far as i know. if i will take the iPhone abroad like (UK,US) they will accept my warranty after year if i will buy an AppleCare?

Warranty and support are not and have never been International.
Purchasing AppleCare would have no affect on this.

  • I bought my iphone 4S with applecare+iphone from houston , but can I get it repaired in other countries?

I bought my phone while I was travelling and now the phone cant nevigate wifi. Can I get this repaired in other countries?

I think you should go ahead and go in to an Apple store there and ask them to help you with it.  Worst case scenario is they just tell you sorry, you'll have to wait until back in the USA for that.  But, the wifi issue may just be a need to reset network settings, or something simple.  The screen could be a software issue or a hardware one, but either way you have nothing to loose by asking.
P.S. if it were a hardware issue, Apple does not do repairs in house.  They would just exchange it for a factory refurbished unit, and send yours back to China for factory refurbishment by the same folks who made it.  So a local genius stop will be short no matter what the outcome - you either leave with a fixed phone, or the same one you have now and just have to wait to get it fixed once you are back home.

  • Applecare+

I bought my iPhone 4S from a Verizon store around January 10. I just called my local store (Walnut Street, Philadelphia) to see what my options are for adding applecare, since it's past the 30 day limit. The store associate informed me that I'm not able to add applecare now, but if I have an incident and the phone breaks, I can simply make a Genius Bar appointment, where I will be offered the option to buy applecare+ AFTER the phone has already been damaged. And so, he says, if the phone breaks, I can simply buy applecare+ for the $99 it initially costs, plus the $49 service fee to replace the phone, if necessary.
I can't find anything about this option online. Is this really how it works? I don't want to cancel my insurance through Verizon before I can confirm that this policy is legitimate. The associate didn't sound very trustworthy.

    Take a look here -> Apple - Support - AppleCare - iPhone
    Important notes
AppleCare+ must be purchased within 30 days of the date you bought your new iPhone. If you did not purchase AppleCare+ with your iPhone, you may purchase it at an Apple Retail Store.  To buy AppleCare+ at an Apple Retail Store, a Genius will first need to verify your iPhone purchase date and confirm that your iPhone has no pre-existing damage. Schedule a Genius Bar appointment
See AppleCare+ Terms and Conditions for complete product details.
<edit> You might want to just make an appointment now and get the AppleCare+ at the Apple Retail Store.

  • Apple Care+ for iPhone 5S & Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook

    Hello,
I have a question regarding the apple care+ for iPhone and the Apple Care Protection plan for MacBook pro.
Since I will soon be in Hong Kong, I intend to buy the iPhone 5S due to great savings compared to my come country.
However, I have a question regarding the warranty which confuses me a bit.
    1) If I buy the iPhone 5S and the Apple care+, does that mean I will be covered world wide?
I am from Denmark, and the applecare is currently not available from the Danish apple store. but does this imply that I will not be covered when I am in Denmark, in case of an incident?
If not, what can one do? Should one ship it to an apple repair somewhere in a European country that is covered by the Applecare protection plan for iPhone?
    2) And the same question goes for the AppleCare Protection Plan for MacBook - will a MacBook with the protection plan bought from Hong Kong, and imported to Denmark, be covered world wide, or what limitations does it have?
I was trying to look through the terms and conditions on the Hong Kong website, however, it does seem rather intransparent some times.
    3) Finally, I have a question about purchasing Apple equipment from the physical Apple store in Hong Kong. As I am a student, I would of course like to have the student prices - should there be any problems getting this price from the physical apple store, or can one only get it from online purchases? Is a valid student ID sufficient proof of student status?
    Regards,
    Michael

    Start here:
    Apple - Support - AppleCare+ - iPhone
    Apple - Support - AppleCare
From each of those sites you should be able to discover what if any differences may prevail depending upon the country of purchase.
Apple's warranties may not be honored outside of the country where the equipment was purchased. I have no way of knowing whether hardware purchased in Hong Kong will have a warranty honored in Denmark.
If you have a valid student ID then the academic discount should be honored in the Hong Kong Apple Store.

  • Applecare Registrations problems

I don't know if this is supposed to go here but, I bought the 32gig version of the 3G S the day it came out and also bought the AppleCare protection plan. I went home that day and tried to register the AppleCare stuff, but when i entered the numbers and hit continue, i get this:
"We're sorry, but this registration number is not valid. Please check your information and try again."
I have no idea what to do. Any ideas? Or am i missing something?

I don't know how they are handling the 3GS applecare registrations. I bought mine separately from my iPhone 3GS and registered it online -- three days later, it still says "registration in progress" and I haven't gotten my certificate. I registered a Macbook Air AppleCare the same time and got the certificate about 4 minutes later on eMail.
I am thinking that they are so backlogged on AppleCare registrations for the iPHone that it will probably be a few days before they get caught up.
Typically, if you purchase an apple care product either at the Retail Store or online they already automatically put that onto your iPhone account or your macbook account and you don't personally have to register anything.
You can check the status of your registration by going to apple>support -- on the right column click the "register or check registration" link, and follow the links through to your agreements. You might find that your AppleCare iPHone 3GS is already listed.
I'm going to give them a week before calling to check on the registration status, thinking they will get those things processed eventually...

  • Issues after IOS 8.0.2 Update.

copy and pasting is difficult or impossible. Hyperlinks take 2-3 clicks to load. Tabs refresh too often to make working in tabs reasonably useful at all. Typing has lag between what i type and appearing on the screen.

    Hello GinjaNinja77,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
To troubleshoot this issue where you are unable to load pages, and seem to not have a connection over the cellular network, please follow the steps below.
Follow these steps for help with cellular data issues on your iPhone. After performing each step, test to see if your iPhone still has the issue.
Toggle airplane mode: Tap Settings, turn airplane mode on, wait three seconds, and then turn off again.
    Restart your iPhone.
Make sure that your software is up to date:
Check for a Carrier Settings Update: Tap Settings > General > About.
Check for an iOS Software Update: Tap Settings > General > Software Update.
Some updates may require a Wi-Fi connection.
Remove the SIM Card and reinsert it. Allow the iPhone to acquire the network again.
If your SIM card has SIM PIN enabled, try turning it off: Tap Settings > Phone > SIM PIN.
Try another location. If a different location works, but the original location still doesn't, contact your carrier to report the issue.
Reset network settings: Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings.
Resetting network settings on your device will erase all current saved settings, including Wi-Fi passwords, preferred networks, and VPN settings.
    Restore the iPhone as new.
    Contact your carrier to:
Verify that the iPhone is properly set up on the account with the appropriate, current data plan.
Verify that there are no account-related blocks.
Find out if there are specific error messages in the carrier logs that could help determine why the issue is occurring.
If none of the above steps resolves the issue, contact your carrier, make an appointment at an Apple Retail Store, or contact AppleCare.

  • Updating to iOS 6 using clean install on a different machine to the one I sync with

    Hi,
Slightly confusing situation here, but one for which I can't get a reliable answer out of AppleCare.
iPhone 4S, running latest version of iOS 5, currently syncing with my Mac mini.  I want to:
    1) Perform a clean install of iOS 6
    2) Change all syncing from the Mac mini to my Mac Pro
    3) Restore all the data from the pre-update backup, so that I'm back to where I was pre-update, albeit with iOS 6 instead of 5.
I have made a backup of the iPhone on my Mac Pro.  It's running iTunes 10.7 and OS X 10.8.2.  At the moment, my plan is to:
    1) Choose "Restore" from the "Summary" screen of iTunes.
My belief is that this will erase the device, and then download and install the latest version of iOS, ie. 6.
    2) Choose "Restore from Backup" by right-clicking my iPhone 4S in the iTunes Sidebar
My belief is that this will restore all my data from the backup I just made, ie. prior to updating to iOS 6.
I should, by the end of these two steps, have a phone running iOS 6 that now syncs (ie. is linked with) with my Mac Pro and not my Mac mini.  Am I right?
Just to clarify: the Mac mini has no data synced with the iPhone per se, but I used it for the activation process and to add some music, so the iPhone 4S and the Mac mini thus became linked.  My Mac Pro is the device that actually has all my movies, music, apps etc., and I've finally got round to moving my iPhone to sync with it.  Both Macs, and the iPhone, use the same Apple ID.
    Thanks

Never mind, I finally spoke to a Tier 2 who grasped the issue.
Despite the process above, the Mac Pro would _not_ be considered the sync library for this iPhone.  Any attempt to sync new apps, music, videos etc. to this iPhone would result in all current examples of those types being purged from the iPhone first, even if they were identical and registered to the same Apple ID.
When it comes to apps, I can think of no reason why ExampleApp v1.10 on the iPhone, registered to Apple ID: ExampleID, should be deleted along with all associated data only to be replaced with ExampleApp v1.10 registered to ExampleID when synced with a different iTunes library authorised for ExampleID.  Non-DRMed media I can understand; but apps?  Apple've lost me there.
If anyone can shed some light on this disappointing situation, it might give me some comfort.

  • Paid for apps lost after 2.0.2 update!

I updated to 2.0.2 last night and found that all my paid-for apps have now disappeared from my phone as well as from iTunes!
How can I get them back? I had at least 12-15 and don't want to pay for them twice!

    Here's the official how-to:
*How to redownload purchased applications from the App Store*
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519
    Alternatively,
Call AppleCare iPhone...wait time can be 10-20 minutes so be sure you have time. Usually less than 10 minutes during the morning though.
Once you get to them, tell them the issue or ask directly for "iTunes Music Store Billing Support". If it shows up in your Purchase History (in iTunes click Store > View My Account then find the Purchase History button) they can set it up for re-downloading. From there, they'll direct you to click "Check for Purchases". They should instantly start downloading again, free of charge. Works for music and movies if you can prove you bought them.
Or visit www.apple.com/support/itunes/store/browser and type away. They email back in about 2 days.
    Hope this helps someone.

  • My Phone is BROKEN

I have a iphone purchased from France Telecom and paid the extra for it to be LEGITIMATLEY unlocked.
I have had it now for 1 month and the whole touch screen has died. I went back to the shop where I purchased it and was told that it was nothing to do with france telecom anymore as it is not on a Orange contract. They refused to change the phone for a working model.
I need to contact Apple directly is what they told me. There is no Apple store near my house in France or in Spain so I really need an email address for Apple in FRANCE the UK or USA.
Can anybody help me and provide me with an address please?????????

    Tim in Spain,
If your iPhone was officially unlocked by Orange you will need to contact the AppleCare iPhone number for France. You can have your iPhone serviced by AppleCare via mail-in repair. However, the mail in repair box will have to be shipped to an address in France where the iPhone was originally sold.
This is the contact number for AppleCare for France: (without country code)
    0825 888 024
This is discussed in the Service FAQ at this link:

    Hope this helps,
