APSB12-06 And Email Links

I have currently have ColdFusion 9.0 running on a Windows Server 2008 R2 Datacenter. I recently installed the security update APSB12-06 and followed all of the directions to a T. All of my applications work fine and nothing seems out of the oridinary.
Recently, we've been having some customers complain that they are unable to follow links that are sent to them via emails that are auto-generated from our system. I couldn't figure out why this was happening, since I couldn't recreate the error on any test or system I tried. I recently got in touch with a customer to send me some details about their problem. Turns out the email that was sent from our system was changing the URL in the email to do the following:
What the URL should look like:
http://www.thesite.com/dspThisThing.cfm?id=123&pid=456&sid=789&gid=012
What the customer was receiving:
http://www.thesite.com/dspThisThing.cfm?id=123&pid=456&sid=789&gid=012
As you can see, it was replacing the ampersands with the HTML equivalent. This has never happened before I installed the security patch, and nothing in our system has changed. I've tried fooling around with URLEncodedFormat and URLDecode, but, as you can see, the URL is already properly URL-encoded (no spaces or strange characters).
This isn't happening for ALL customers in all emails on all system. Only some. So I'm lead to believe that maybe it's a matter of the user's email client. It's just curious this has never happened before in the previous six years of this system being used.
I was wondering if anyone had any insight to this problem. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Apparently the "insert raw HTML" function in the text editor on this forum doesn't actually do raw HTML...The second URL in the example above should have "& amp ;" replacing all the ampersands. Hope that makes sense?

I am sending the emails as HTML...Somewhat have to because of the graphic elements of the emails (they are artwork proof emails).
I have the default charset in the ColdFusion Administrator under the "mail" section set to "UTF-8." I have not explicitly tried setting this variable in the cfmail tag though...Perhaps I'll try that.

Try just making a label, and formatting it to look like a generic link. Then add a listener that performs the desired action when you click on it. The "desired action" would probably involve starting the user's default browser/mail-program and loading something in it. I have no idea how to do that, but the above should at least get you a "link" that responds when you click it, and that's a start.

Iweb 08 and email links

I've uploaded my site to dogbark and now the email link ( where you say "email me") on each page won't work. Apparently ,the email address box is coming up on the hose at an html code and not an email link. However, when I hyper linked "email me" I linked it to "email message" with my email address. Can anyone tell me what I'm doing wrong?

Can you provide the URL for your site so we can view it first hand? Also it the email link is near the bottom make sure it's not in the footer, entirely or in part.

Swf files and email links in dreamweaver

Good evening everyone,
Need some help please
I have a button (swf) made in Flash and brought into Dreamweaver to act as an email link when clicked.
When testing, an extra browser window named "untitled" comes up behind the main email window which
pops up fine. I can't figure out where the extra blank "untitled" window is coming from.
swf was made in cs4 with as3 and imported into Dreamweaver cs4.
The following is the code used for the swf file.

The extra browser window will not appear when you run the file live on a server. It is just one of the quirks with local Flash testing.

Help needed to access a file from and email link.

I received an email with a link to an Adobe document. When I attempt to open the link I receive a message " You do not have accewss to the file" How do I gain access?

Then it is the case I mentioned, the author sent the URL from the address bar viewing the form in Edit mode rather than copying the Fillable Form link.
You'll need to respond to the form author and ask them to send out the correct link/URL to the fillable form (which does not ask for any login). They can go to the "Distribute" tab and on the "Web Form" sub-tab click "Copy Link", if the form is "Closed" it will ask if they want to "Open" the form, the form needs to be in the "Open" state to collect responses so say "Yes". This will copy the link to their clipboard and they can then send that link/URL out.
Also, if they close the form (by clicking the X in the upper right corner) and are looking at the "My Forms" tab in FormsCentral, with the form selected there is a "Link" button in the toolbar along the top which copies the form URL to send out.

PDF from Word doesn't recognize email link subject

PDFs created from Word contain my active website URL links and email links, but the email subject doesn't make the conversion for some reason. If I click the email link from within the Word document, Mail launches and addresses a new message, and the subject field is filled out properly. But the resulting PDF will only create and address a new mail message, leaving the subject field blank.
As problems go, it ain't the end of the world, but it would be great to receive email that I know was generated by my brochure.
Any ideas?

BD, has anyone ever held a parade in your honor?
It took me about three hours to conceive and do the layout for this flyer. Then another 5 hours trying to get it to convert properly into a PDF. When it didn't convert correctly from Word, I fired up Classic, launched an old version of Quark XPress and recomposed the flyer. But when I tried to export it to PDF, Acrobat Distiller (remember that?) just sat and spun its wheels. It did spit out a Postscript file, but it wouldn't actually make the PDF for some reason. Never even generated an error. Then, I accidentally double-clicked the Postscript file, and Preview launched as said it was making a PDF. I was a happy camper... until I discovered that this PDF was cut off on both the top and bottom.
Then I checked my email and found you had answered my cry for help (yet again).
When I followed your instructions (which I did try to find on my own before posting my plea), the PDF came out perfectly on the first try.

With no Firefox window open, I can't launch a new one. Or click on an email link and launch a window. This started when I upgraded to 5. Now I downgraded to 4 again and problem persists

I upgraded to Firefox 5, then noticed when a window was open I couldn't launch another one. Or launch into Firefox off an email link. Or open a new window if there was none open.
So I downgraded back to 4. Problem persists.

Uninstall the ones you know about, yes.
As regards the others, it's difficult to say. All you can do is to disable them all via Safe Mode (checkmark "Disable all add-ons", then "Make changes and restart") and then re-enable them one by one checking each time until the problem recurs. Laborious I know, but the only sound way of doing it I'm afraid.

I use aol mail, and I want to change my mailto: to aol. Firefox won't let me do that. When I click on an email link in a webpage, my computer goes nuts.

When I click on an email link on a webpage, my computer goes crazy. (Please note that links to other websites are fine.) My computer seems to want to link me to Internet Explorer, which I don't use often. The computer starts running very fast and hot. Sometimes, I get a multitude of identical error messages from Explorer, and it is often hard to delete them!
I thought maybe I could solve this by changing my mailto: client, but there is no link for Aol. Please help!

PS: Why am I still on AOL? I still use the first email address I got many years ago. Friends and clients know my email and use it to contact me. I don't want to change it.

I tried to follow the website instructions of
Tools -> Options -> Content / File Types -> Manage
but once I get to Content I am stuck. No Manage button. (there is nothing that says File Types)
What do you suggest?

I have two iPads about a year old and have 5 full folders of web links that I would like to copy from one to the other. Both have iCloud but not the same account. Is there an easy way to grab those folders or the icons and email?

Answer needs to be written for a user who doesn't know how to select a folder or a number of icons and email or copy them to something that can be emailed. I know how to do it one at a time by opening weblink and then emailing the link from safari.

After uninstalling nightly, I can no longer set firefox as default browser for email links and they no longer open.

When I try to change the default firefox protocols in windows, only the nightly shows and I can not unclick it. When I attempt to click on a link in an email (Windows Live) I get "Class not registered"
I presently have IE set as my default because it is the only possible way to open email links.

You can install both win32 and win64 Firefox Nightly builds on a 64-bit Windows computer. As you should know, all Firefox nightly builds are intended for testing only. If you downloaded your Firefox nightly build from http://nightly.mozilla.org/ then you got the win32 installer. (win64 installers are available from http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla-central/ and possibly elsewhere: [http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?p=12694481#p12694481 ref.])
Anyway, the bug report I referred to earlier ([https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=870312 Bug 870312] - Installing Nightly causes "Class not registered" error on click on link in other apps after uninstall) fits your issue ("broken" uninstaller). It was triaged as a "Shell Integration" Firefox bug for x86_64 Windows 8.
Whether you had the 32-bit or 64-bit Firefox nightly installed, you can try reinstalling a more recent build of that, and then uninstall it again. That worked for a Windows user who had problems uninstalling Firefox Nightly x64 as reported in this thread:

If that doesn't work, also try reinstalling Firefox 25, to see if that helps matters.
