  • Custom PCI Device Driver for Phar Lap

    Hi all,
I have deployed Labview Real-Time to a compact-PCI card in a cPCI chassis (non-NI brand for several unavoidable reasons). I need to do high-speed communication with another card in the chassis at minimum rates of 20 MB/s read, 4MB/s write - but preferably much higher. After extensive testing, we believe that NI VISA is incapable of maintaining those speeds in our system, and it barely maintains half those (side note: the hardware is more than capable as we have deployed embedded software that easily achieved the desired data rates).
Another engineer is responsible for finding ways to optimize VISA. The purpose of this post is to explore the option of writing a custom kernel driver for Phar Lap 2013 in C to handle communication with the other card. I have experience in writing windows kernel drivers, but the NI documentation for Phar Lap is severely lacking in this area.
    So the overarching questions are:
1- Is it possible to do this?
2- If so, is it possible to use LabWindows/CVI to do this?
Any and all input is appreciated. Thanks

    Hi:
    Yes, it does.
You need this driver for the PCI Device.

  • Kernel Panic: Unable to find driver for this platform

So, my 1 GM RM, 1.5 GHz Powerbook G4 (15 inches) has been behaving wonderfully lately. Until, this morning, it locked up -- as it sometimes does -- after inserting a 3rd party SATA card and waking it from sleep.
This is normally not a problem. A reboot gets things back on track. Not today. The reboot stayed on the grey screen with the white apple logo. I tried booting off of a Disk Warrior CD and an OS X 10.4 install DVD. I go this kernel panic:
Unable to find driver for this platform: "PowerBook5,6".
But...and here's the best part...if I boot into target disk mode and hook the computer up to another similar Powerbook we have, the similar PowerBook boots fine using my drive.
So, it seems to be a hardware problem with my PowerBook. Any ideas on how I narrow it down?
    Thanks,
    Gary

Glad you found your problem. Our kernel panic on our 15" G4 is a bad logic board. $500+ to fix it. Just found out yesterday.

  • Kernel Panic for a powerbook driver, but i have an ibook...

I was having trouble with my Finder in 10.2.8 so I was told to get a 10.3 disc to do the Archive and Install feature. I got a hold of the discs and went to do the install and a Kernel Panic popped up. Here's a copy of it:
Panic(cpu 0): Unable to find driver for this platform: “Powerbook2,1”.
    Latest stack backtrace ro cpu0:

I went to Dr. Smoke's website and figured out that it's a problem with the System folder. My questions are: a) does this have anything to do with my finder problem in 10.2.8? and b) why does the powerbook divers matter if I have an ibook clamshell?

    Mike--
Sounds to me like you got hold of 10.3 discs for a specific PowerBook, not the a universal installer, or the 10.3 discs for your particular iBook.
As a general rule here's how it goes: you can't use the installation/restore discs that came with a particular Macintosh with another model Macintosh. It doesn't have all the drivers. For example, a PowerBooks' disc would have different drivers for fans, etc., than would the disc for an iMac G5. However, if you can find Panther retail discs, then you'd be fine, as the retail versions would have the proper drivers for all compatible Macintoshes that were released before it.
As to why it says "Powerbook2,1", at that low of a level, the kernel sees portables as Powerbooks. They use the same logic more or less on the desktop Macs, where the iMacs and Power Macs are both "PowerMacN,N" with the Ns distinguishing between models. The Rev. A iMac G5 is PowerMac8,1.
This isn't necessarily so, by the way, for the Intel Macs, where so far the strings are a bit more specific...

If you are using a Linux 2.4 kernel, please make sure
you either have configured kernel sources matching your
kernel or the correct set of kernel headers installed
    on your system.
If you are using a Linux 2.6 kernel, please make sure
you have configured kernel sources matching your kernel

output directory using either the "KBUILD_OUTPUT" or
the "O" KBUILD parameter, make sure to specify this

    Hello,
I'm kind of a noob and am trying to get follow the directions from the Nvidia wiki on installing on a custom kernel.  I'm trying to use the abs method to install on kernel26rt version 2.6.33rt.  I followed directions exactly and am getting an error that I didn't find on any other posts.  Can you please take a look?  Here is my terminal:

  • UCS B-series :enic driver version 2.1.1.41 is causing kernel panic for RHEL5.7

The enic driver version 2.1.1.41 which comes with driver iso ucs-bxxx-drivers.2.1.1a is resulting in Kernel panic for RHEL5.7
When RHEL5.7 OS is installed, the kernel version that gets loaded with the iso that I have is 2.6.18-274.el5 x86_64 whereas the kernel version expected by the enic driver provided by Cisco is  2.6.18-164.el5(supported distribution).  The Cisco documentation says : If kernel version does not match, the enic RPM cannot be installed.
The enic driver that comes with OS is  ver 2.1.1.9 whereas the one Cisco provides is ver 2.1.1.41 . The system crashes for non-matching distribution after loading the driver version 2.1.1.41 .

    Here are some other details:

Boot into Recovery by holding down the key combination command-R at the startup chime. Release the keys when you see a gray screen with a spinning dial.
Note: You need an always-on Ethernet or Wi-Fi connection to the Internet to use Recovery. It won’t work with USB or PPPoE modems, or with networks that require any kind of authentication other than a WPA or WPA2 Personal password.
When the Mac OS X Utilities screen appears, follow the prompts to reinstall the Mac OS. You don't need to erase the boot volume, and you won't need your backup unless something goes wrong. If your Mac didn’t ship with Lion, you’ll need the Apple ID and password you used to upgrade, so make a note of those before you begin.
Don't install the Thunderbolt update -- it's defective.

    did you check forge?
If you have already compiled drivers or have linux.2 please put them on

  • Compiling nvidia driver for custom kernel

I have a Toshiba M200 tablet PC running Arch Linux (which I love, btw) and it's running fine, including the tablet.
There's an irritating bug with suspend-to-ram (suspend-to-disk doesn't work with the nvidia driver) where the tablet pen stops working after resume.
There's a patch slated to be in some future kernel, but I compiled my own with that patch included. It boots fine and all seems to be well with it.
However, I need to compile the nvidia driver for it, since the binary does not work. So I copy /var/abs/extra/nvidia and modify the PKGBUILD and nvidia.install files per the instructions on this wiki page, and run makepkg -i -c .
I get a big error message early on, saying
If you are using a Linux 2.4 kernel, please make sure
you either have configured kernel sources matching your
kernel or the correct set of kernel headers installed
    on your system.
If you are using a Linux 2.6 kernel, please make sure
you have configured kernel sources matching your kernel
installed on your system. If you specified a separate
output directory using either the "KBUILD_OUTPUT" or
the "O" KBUILD parameter, make sure to specify this
directory with the SYSOUT environment variable or with
the equivalent nvidia-installer command line option.
Depending on where and how the kernel sources (or the
kernel headers) were installed, you may need to specify
their location with the SYSSRC environment variable or
the equivalent nvidia-installer command line option.
*** Unable to determine the target kernel version. ***
I've checked everything I can think of.
    $ uname -r
    2.6.25-tablet
ls -l /usr/src shows linux-2.6.25-tablet, and linux is a symlink to it. /lib/modules/2.6.25-tablet/build is also symlinked to the right kernel source tree.
So I'm out of ideas for why the nvidia makefile can't seem to find the kernel source.
    Thanks in advance.

    @klixon:
I think that may be the root of the trouble: I compiled the kernel on my desktop (C2D 2.8) rather than my wussy laptop (1.6 Centrino). It installed and ran fine and all that, but I only have the kernel source tree that was included in the package, not the one that really compiled the code. Would simply copying it suffice, or should I rebuild the kernel on my laptop? Also, the PKGBUILD is included below.
    @shazeal:
I believe this is a subset of the problem I describe above?
The PKGBUILD, somewhat customized from the nvidia ABS. I don't think any of the changes are overly shocking.
I've tried dozens of different modifications of it now. The simplest one is just appending '-tablet' to pkgname and _kernver.

  • How to get source code for WinCE 6.0 USB Camera Driver for ARM4I Processor

    Hi,
I am implementing USB camera driver for my mini2440 board which has an ARM4I processor. The sample code
"Windows Embedded CE 6.0 USB camera Driver" downloaded from:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/en/details.aspx?FamilyID=2ef087c0-a4ae-42cc-abd0-c466787c11f2
does not support ARM4I processors. When trying to generate in VS2005 Platform Builder my WinCE 6.0
image for mini2440 with the Third party catalog items "MJPEG Decompression Filter" and "USB CameraDriver",
the linker giver errors. Please advise where to find a working source code for USB (now revision 1.1
("full-speed") is supported in my WinCE 6.0 image) camera for my ARM4I processor. The code should
be in C# but C++ will be fine also.
    Thanks,

  • My Macbook Pro Won't boot. Unable to find the driver for this platform

    Hi there,
After doing some casual internet browsing earlier today (facebook + twitter etc) my laptop froze up. While I was able to click between windows, the ever faithful beach ball was there to ensure I couldn't really do anything, including making the dock appear when mousing towards the bottom. So I held down the power button to shut it down, and restarted. After the apple logo had sat there for quite some time I got a message something along the lines of:
Unable to find driver for this platform:\"ACPI\".In"@/SourceCache/xnu/xnu-1699.32.7/iokit/kernel
This was followed by a message telling me I needed to restart my computer using the power button. After several attempts all producing the same results, I was still in the same boat. So I sought some online help which lead me to boot into my recovery partition (holding down the option key at startup) and install the operating system again from there. However this is when I really started to panic. After selecting the recoverey partition the apple logo flipped between a no access symbol (that circle with a line through it) and the apple logo for a couple of seconds, before settling on the apple logo. But the recovery partition never loads and after some time I either get a symbol of a folder with a question mark in it or I similar message telling me to restart.
Next I tried plugging in my external hard drive with a few time machine backups as well as a carbon copy back up and another recovery partition. Using the external HD's recovery partition took me to a menu which the online help had initially promised where I could reinstall osx as well as use disc utitlity. So I tried to run the installer from here only to find my hard drive didn't show up in the list of destination volumes. The time machine and recovery partitions from my hard drives did, but I couldn't select these.
I then turned my attention to the disc utility and tried to repair my hard drive. I was unsure which one to select at first because there were two names for my hard drive; the first being the hard drives actual name (a samsung something or other) and the second was called 'Lion.' I started by repairing the samsung one and this was over in a few seconds saying it was successfully repaired. So I moved on to 'Lion' and this took a few moments, before stalling on a section saying "Updating boot support partitions for the volume as required." I was also advised to recover any data I could and restore I backup.
So that's where I'm currently at. I'd really hate to lose any recent data, as my last time machine back up was about a week ago and I'd made some substantial progress on a mix since then!
I'd really appreciate any help that anyone can offer,
    Cheers!

Just had another look in the disc utility and found that the samsung's partition scheme is set to master boot record, which is apprently used for windows partitions? I've no idea how this happend because When I originally formatted the drive I'm sure I would have set it to GUID partition table. Clicking on 'Lion' just gives dashes for the partition type, capacity and available space values.

  • Problems with driver for ATI xpress 200

    Hi all,
this morning I saw that there is KDE4 available. Straight away I installed the packages, run it and it crashed. There was a funny graphical effect just before the crash. This gave me the impression that the problems comes from the graphical driver. I tried the proprietary ATI driver which hangs once kdm is launched. Then I tried VESA which doesn't even start for some funny reason. Eventually I turned to the open source ATI drivers. With them I'm running KDE in resolution 1280x768 which is somewhat strange. So far, I haven't found a solution and think I need a help.

  • Win 8.1 x32 gfx driver for Intel Celeron embedded gpu

Hello, i upgraded my Lenovo Flex 10  from windows 8 to windows 8.1 and there are drivers for everything except Display driver for embedded Intel Celeron GPU. What a shame?
I tried to contact Intel, but their website says i should ask my solution manufacturer.
My CPU is Celeron N2810 and there is only driver for x64, but it was x32 operating system installedon my Flex 10 and now i can not downgrade and there is no display driver, except Mycrosoft's default one (Metro Interface is laggy).

    Hi,
According to the results of these two dump file, they had same reason of BSOD, both they were running google update when BSOD occurs, maybe you can try to remove Chrome on your system for test.

Chrome is not the problem, its very widely used so if there was a problem it would get fixed eventually
its only a browser, the problem is a device. BSOD happens at the kernel level where the device drivers are loaded
