ASP in Dreamweaver
Hello
I have a website that has been created in VS2010 I am assuming.. I had asked the developer to change some things around so that I could edit the page in dreamweaver ... When I try to open the default.aspx page it displays a box for the image and the frames where all the rest of the stuff is located...I need to be able to edit this page in its entirety without having to purchase more tools and use my existing dreamweaver cs5 to do the job. Does anyone know how to pull something like that into DWCS5 and edit it just like you do any other page. My Bosses are very visual and want to see when I make a change within ten minutes... It is a snap with dreamweaver but i have yet to find that sort of snappyness with this type of page...
Any help on how to try and render this situation would be great
thanks in advance..
It's true that ASP JavaScript server behaviors were removed in Dreamweaver CS5, however it is possible to enable them. They are there, just disabled. To enable server behaviors for ASP.NET, ASP JavaScript, or JSP, use the Extension Manager to install the appropriate .mxp file that can be found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CS5\configuration\DisabledFeatures (Windows) or /Applications/Adobe/Adobe Dreamweaver CS5/configuration/DisabledFeatures (Mac OS X).
Long term though, you'd probably be better to try and redo the site using PHP or some fully supported language.

Anyone using ASP and Dreamweaver
Hey everyone,
This article is sadly out of date and we are looking for
something to replace it:
http://www.adobe.com/devnet/dreamweaver/articles/setting_up_asp.html
My thinking is that someone out there has already written
these instructions and posted them, but I'm not sure where to look.
The other possibility is that someone out there might really want
to re-write this, and if so, we could post your article on the
Adobe Developer Center and you could become famous!
Please chime in if you are at all interested.

A newbie question here folks, but I desperately need your
help...
My site has a page called www.mysite.com/work
That page has links to click on where you can view details of
the work... those links open pages that look like this--
mysite.com/work.asp?projects=2
Where can I find the text being generated in the above
mentioned page? I have browsed thru all of my page files in the
site and cannot find where the .asp text is originating from.
Help!> Thanks for the input guys... Sorry Brandon... would

Actually,
http://www.example.com would be
best, as it's a TLD that has been
reserved specifically for that use.

Page Numbering w/ASP and Dreamweaver CS3
I am new to this so please bear with me if this question has been asked a million times. I have a single search parameter searching for a "Department", the result displays on the next page (The Results page). This works fine. I am using DW CS3 and I am now finding out that when I use it with ASP it only allows the Previous, Next, First, Last, Specific records to be displayed.
I really want it to display the total amount of pages by numbers Example: (1-10, 11-21, etc...). Can someone please help me? I have searched the web and came across this site http://www.dmxzone.com/go?12449. I am not following where to put the code he suggest. Can someone please help me?
Thanks for any help in advance.
Here is the asp code I have for my Results page:

I am new at this, although I did figure out the tutorial it still isn't what I am wanting. I am going to send an example page of want I my page to look like when I said page numbering (I don't want first, prev, next, or last). I want numbers like the results you will get from this page. http://www.gcfa.org/Department_Resources.aspx Can I do this with ASP?
If so so can someone please show me how? Thanks in advance. Maybe I have the right question this time. -
I'm sorry, I'm a n00b at this... as soon as I get the link, I
will have access to my website files from the host. From there I
want to update the website. The tech at the host says I need to be
knowledgable with ASP, which I'm not.... I've read a little about
it and have come to understand that ASP basically allows you to add
content to certain parts of a site that will look different to
different viewers. There are only certain parts of our page that
have this feature. Is there a good place online that I can go to
read more information that will explain it in terms that I will
understand, or am I just going to have to wing it... :)
Thanks^^<I'm worried> This is a scary way for you to start
out....

Dreamweaver Flash not compatible with ASP
I've build an ASP page with DW CS4 that has also a Flash
element on it.
When testing the page I've been surprised to see that IIS
fires an error
saying that is not alowed to have nested object tags in a
page. And that's
exactly what DW does when inserting Flash into a page!!!
This seems a big problem as it not uncommon to have some
Flash elements
inside ASP pages.
Any solutions for this issue?
Regards,
AngelThanks for the clarification. Sorry you are having the
problem....

Asp server behavior in dreamweaver 5
HI
Is there any way to get extentions for recordset server behavior and insert record behavior for asp for dreamweaver 5Yes it is the current version. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you -
Is there an extension for ASP in Dreamweaver like the
Developer Toolbox for PHP?
I need to use ASP rather than PHP for dynamic pages and am
looking for coding help and shortcuts in DW. There are lots of
extensions for PHP but I have not found any for ASP yet.
Regards,
Bill SchaepeThere are a lot of ASP extensions on the Adobe Dreamweaver
Exchange .. have
you looked there? There IS a version of the Developer Toolbox
for ASP, but
it has never been finished so some of the real advanced stuff
like Captcha
are not there. Same with their Cold Fusion version.
Another ASP source would be the DMXZone at
http://www.dmxzone.com. Give
those guys a try.

Refreshing Image files in Dreamweaver
I have changed a few image files that show up in all of my
many individual web page files. I saved the new files in the same
place and with the same name as the old files, but the old files
still show up in my Dreamweaver files. The main difference between
the new files and the old ones are that the new ones are bigger in
dimension. The refresh button in my toolbar remains unusuable. It's
gonna take forever to re-place all the images in each web file. Can
someone please help?
-Crystal
Here is an example of old file verses new file:
(NEW)
<img src="../../images/Easter/page_59.jpg" width="34"
height="32" />
(OLD)
<img src="../../images/Easter/page_59.jpg" width="27"
height="35" />Did you recreate the site cache? (Site/Advanced/Recreate Site
Cache)

Dreamweaver is great. I would really like to use it as my
default code-cruncher ;-).
The problem is that i have gotten so used to Homesites ASP
color syntax, that i simply dont have the same good overview in
Dreamweaver. So i have to change the coloring syntax for asp pages
in Dreamweaver to look exactly like the coloring-syntax in
Homesite.
I could do that manually. But have you guys seen how much
work that will take ?
My question is: Is there an easy way to change the ASP
coloring-syntax in Dreamweaver to look and act exactly like
Homesite ?
Maybe somebody outthere knows a trick or so that will do
it...
AlagamiDo you mean it's a lot of work to use Edit/Preferences/Code
Coloring .. pick
the language code you want to edit and click Edit Coloring
Scheme? That
pops up for you the appropriate code formats and you just
change them ..
doesn't look too hard to me.
I don't think there is a "Use Homesite Colors" preference ..
but that
doesn't sound like a bad idea.

XSL , XML, Chilisoft ASP
I have created a asp page that shows xml data using a xsl
transform. It works great on my IIS ( testing server) but not great
when the site go's live as my service provider uses Chilisoft ASP (
or whatever the new name is from sun).
Here is the error message!
MM_XSLTransform error:
Required object ("MSXML2.FreeThreadedDOMDocument") from
Microsoft XML Core Services (MSXML) is not installed.
Download and install the latest version from
http://msdn.microsoft.com/xml
before continuing.
Dreaweaver assumes I will be using an IIS server.
Has anyone got experience with chilisoft ASP and what I can
do to get the page showing correctly. Or a link to a page that
could help me get the correct wording and include files.
Thanks in advanceChilisoft is aptly named - much like a bad bowl of Chili,
it'll give you
heartburn and sleepless nights! Save yourself and avoid it!
Like Nancy
said, go with a Windows server for ASP.

DW 9 crashes in classic ASP when ASP inside select tag.
I'm updating a site written in classic ASP with Dreamweaver CS3, 9.0. Dreamweaver is crashing to the desktop whenever I encounter a page that has ASP code within the Option tags of a Select list, like the example below. Rather then recoding all of the pages, is there a way to get Dreamweaver to work with these pages, maybe shutting of a feature in the preferences that is causing the crash? Has anyone else encountered this?
<html>
<head>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8" />
<title>Untitled Document</title>
</head>
<body>
<select name="MailList" class="Input" Style="Font-Size:11px; Width:98%">
<option Value="">Any</Option>
<option Value=""HolidayCard"" <%If Request.QueryString("MailList") = "HolidayCard" Then Response.Write " Selected" End If%>>Holiday Card</Option>
<option Value=""MetroMatters"" <%If Request.QueryString("MailList") = "MetroMatters" Then Response.Write " Selected" End If%>>Metro Matters</Option>
</select></body>
</html>I have just looked in another post and turning back the clock
on my pc seems to work for now. -
Hi guys I am new to dreamweaver and working on my church
website. I have read over and over and still can not get my links
connected from home page to the other pages. Any suggestion on how
to do this?
ChampagneSelect the link you want in Dreamweaver. Click in the Link
field of the
Property Inspector and navigate to the page you want to link
to. When you
click OK, the link will be visible in the Property Inspector
link field.
Save the page and upload.

GabrielASP support was deprecated in Dreamweaver CC. There is a single extension to restore these features.
Extension is available at:
* Vista/Windows 7: C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CC\Configuration\DisabledFeatures
* Mac OS X: /Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CC/Configuration/DisabledFeatures

Its not easy doing it in ASP, and I can't find any extensions
for
Dreamweaver either. When I was attempting this myself I found
the
shortage of information online very frustrating.
In the end I went for a slightly different solution. Using MS
SQL I
extracted the Active Directory information into a table on a
daily
basis, this allowed me to query the table at any time without
any delays.
This is what we used in a view:
SELECT TOP 100 PERCENT givenname AS [First Name], SN AS [Last
Name],
mail AS Email, telephoneNumber AS Telephone, Mobile,
CASE WHEN IPPhone IS NULL THEN ' ' ELSE
IPPhone END AS Extension, physicalDeliveryOfficeName AS
Office,
Department, Title
FROM OPENQUERY(ADSI,
'SELECT givenname, SN, telephoneNumber, mail,
physicalDeliveryOfficeName, IPPhone, Department, Mobile,
Title
FROM ''LDAP://DC=aclighting,DC=com''
WHERE objectCategory = ''Person'' AND
objectClass = ''user''')
AS derivedtbl_1
WHERE (telephoneNumber <> '') AND (givenname <>
'') AND
(telephoneNumber <> 'N/A')
All I can say is good luck, it took me weeks to get what I
needed out of
the Active Directory.
