Assemble-to-Order with External Procurement

Dear colleagues,
I am trying to figure out how to deliver an assemble-to-order process to my client without having to create planned orders. My client's environment is such that PP is not in place.
The business requires an assembly process, but always with external procurement.
Has anyone come accross an identical requirement and if so, can I please ask for suggestions on what strategy, strategy group should I use?
Thanks and regards
Kikas

Dear All,
Perhaps I did not phrase my question correctly.
Yes, 100%  - Assembly is PP. Let me see if I can explain.
The client's process is as follows:
Inquiry - Costing and Pricing - Quotation - Sales Contract - Equipment Commissioning (e.g. server) with warranty and serialisation - Commissioning Complete - Maintenance Contract.
I would like to be able to trigger the "commissioning" from SD - I am not sure how I can go about it:
1) - Assembly with Planned Order (PP) but very limited since PP is not in scope and all materials are externally purchased;
Is it possible to use a planned order with externally purchased materials only? If so what would be the process?
2) - "Assembly" with perhaps a PM refurbishment order - PM04.
I have never done this so I am unsure if this is possible; I was hopping to be able to achieve this by creating a new requirement class similar to 203 (assembly static) but assigned to order type PM04 instead of PP04 - do you think this would be possible?
Thanks so much for your help

  • How to create Sales orders with external id ?

    Hi Experts,
I wanna write a program to create Sales Order with external id via function muodule 'CRM_ORDER_MAINTAIN' and 'CRM_ORDER_SAVE'.But i don't know how to do and do any body tried it.The key issue is that how to use external id which is supplied by ourself rather than internal id supplied by system.
    Thanks for all.

    Hi,
If you have already set the number range as an external range.
Then just passing the transaction type to field 'process_type' and external id to field 'object_id' of table ct_orderadm_h. Sales order will created with the assigned external id.
    Hope this help.
    cheers,

  • Assemble-to-order with spliting the Production Order

    Hello,
I'm new to SAP and we just implemented the SAP System.
My Experince is from one year as Process Owner for PP in our Project.
I have a specific Question regarding the assemble to order process.
So far we did not implemet Capacity Planning in the System, but I would like to use it.
    The Idea is the following:
    1. There is a sales order coming for 1pc of Product. The scheduling is carried out, ATP-Check and so on. The production order is created and at least the capa is placed on the end of the chain (using quetimes). One Product needs 60min to assemble.
    2. more orders are comeing in, all consuming 60min of capa on that day. If the capa is used, move to later date until capa is back again. this also should be now Problem to set as far as I understand what I have learned already
    3. What i do not like... If I get orders with too many qty.... I would like to hav a maximum qty. where the order gets splited and moved forward to the next day... so... Customer orders 10, 5 are placed on Tuesday, 5 on wednesday and so on.
Each of those "Splits" should have one production order header.
Any idea how I can reach that?
Thanks, hope I will find a solution
    BR Marian

    Marian,
Standard ERP Sales order ATP cannot be made to confirm Sales orders based on capacity availability.  All capacity related conflicts and resolutions are done during dispatching, which is a separate step.
If you need SO ATP to consider available capacity while confirming the Sales order, you could use functionality that exists in APO.  Otherwise, in ERP, you are facing custom development.
Assemble to order in general is restrictive as to what types of scheduling can be permitted.  There is no automatic production order splitting in standard SAP ATO.  Some manual manipulation is permitted.  Of course, with custom development, you are only limted by your imagination.

  • How to create a Sales Order with external number using BAPI

    Hi People,
I am wonderning how to create Sales order using external number range by BAPI (SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT202).
I tried search but could not succeed in finding the solution.
Please share if anyone has some info.
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Praveen

As per my understanding, the BAPI
    SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT202
mentioned by you, is not BAPI. In fact, that is basic IDoc Type.  For processing an Inbound IDoc, we use FM IDOC_INPUT_ORDERS.
If you want to create sales order other than IDoc, refer FM BAPI_SALESORDER_CREATEFROMDAT2. There you can provide external sales order no in SALESDOCUMENTIN. In addition to that check whether your sales doc type is relevant for external number range or not. If yes. then make sure you are providing external number according to the number range maintained.
If you still have any concerns, please revert back.
    Thanks, JP

  • Sales order with special procurement

    Hi,
We are having a problem raising a sales order were the material has a special procurement marker as there is a clash between this and the Item category we have to enter on a sales order.
We get our products manufactured by an outside supplier. To help with lead times we had them build product up to a specific level which we paid for and which we are holding as semi finished goods. To finish these goods we are sending them to the supplier for the final assembly. We are able to do this by linking the materials to a purchase order thus giving us the final assembly value. To allow this we have had to change the special procurement to 30 on the material for subcontracting.
Now when we try to raise a sales order and enter the item category which we need to enter the system is giving us a error meesage that the category can not be used with a special procurement type.
Does anyone have any suggestions as to how we can get round this? We have to use the item category in question as it is linked to the plant and material.
I have not posted on the site before, so please bear with me in regard to my query.
    Thanks Paul

Now when we try to raise a sales order and enter the item category
Ideally, item category should flow automatically in sale order and why do you want to input manually?   Moreover, in order to understand your requirement further, please share the configuration settings of your item category and also update what special procurement type is maintained.

  • PM Order with External Service PR Currency

When we requisition an External Service through the PM Order using control key PM03, the system automatically generates the PR for the selected external service.
The currency for this PR is set to the default currency automatically and we are unable to select the currency in case an external service is payable in foreign currency.
How do we overcome this problem of selecting the required currency in the service PR as the currency field is greyed (disabled)?

Refer [link|Service Purchase request with different Currency] for additional informations

    Hi
it is possible to open the currency field, you can sort the issue while converting to Purchase order. also check whether you can open the field using user exit

  • Sd invoices posting with External number range

    Hi,
i am a fico consultant and dont know the proceedure that how to post SD invoice thorugh Sales orders with external number  range?
while posting it is giving error like use internal number range.how to over come this.help me
    Thanks
    Prathima

    Good Afternoon Prathima.
    Use tcode OBA7
Look for Doc type RV Billing Doc trn.
This doc is generally used for posting Billing doc to accounting.
Here you would find Number range as external.
Reason: As per standard, the Accounting doc number is similar to your the Billing account. So, that there would not be any difference in numbers of both, therefore for accounting doc - Billing doc trnsfer (RV) the number range is Internal number but the Billing doc type will havre internal number range.
And as you are FI consultant, I don't feel I need to explain why or purpose these numbers should be similar from accounting point of view.
Hope it solved your query. Kindly reward.
    Take care. JP.

  • External Procurement with a Valuated Sales Order Stock

    Hi Experts,
I read the following in SAP Help,
For external procurement with a Valuated Sales Order Stock, system generates a purchase requisition from the sales order.
If you are using a valuated sales order stock, the externally procured material is assigned to inventory at the time of the goods receipt. If the sales order item is flagged as carrying costs and revenues, then when the goods issue for delivery to the customer takes place, the sales order item is debited with the costs of the externally procured material.
My question is - it says costs of external procurement is debited to sales order item when " goods issue for delivery to the customer takes place"
           - but in my case, when I made the GR for purchase order (created automatically by sales order), system directly posted the procurement cost as actual costs to the sales order item. There is no delivery for sales order done still.
So actually, when should the external procurement cost be debited to sales order item -- when GR for purchase order is done (or) when  goods issue for delivery to the customer takes place?
    Thanks,
    GAN

    Hi Rafi,
Thanks for your reply. I understand the problem now.
Material which comes from prod order is posted statistically (value type 11) to sales order when GR for prod order is done.
Here, the issue is about a GR for purchase order (assigned to sales order). This material purchased is not used in any production process. Its a material which is supplied to customer along with main material produced in house.
In purchase order, I have given the consumption account (which is cost element 1). Entry was Consumption Dr and GR/IR Cr. So, this posted as actual cost to sales order.
I should have given inventory account in purchase order (with cost element 90).
Its a mistake of using consumption account in purchase order.
    Thanks.
    GAN.

  • Kanban - External procurement with multiple vendor

    Hi Gurus,
We are working on implementation of Kanban for external procurement (Scheduling agreement) in my organisation. As per the business requirement, some of the components are supplied by more than one vendor. As per the standard process, Kanban supports automated processfor single vendor only & not multiple vendors
Has anybody come across this issue? Could you plese share your experiene & any possible workaround or solution to this isuue
    Thanks
    Kariya

    Hi,
This is how KANBAN works. Since sourcing is automatic.
You could do a couple of things; first, have more than one control cycle, one for each vendor. Drawback is that you also need to have separate kanban containers for each cycle/vendor. But in the case where you have more that one supply area for a material this is not so bad.
Another way could be working with internal demand area, in such a way that Kanban creates a stock transfer reservation. Then you need to process the requirements with MRP, and issue orders to multiple vendors (maybe using quota arrangement).
To ilustrate the solution: your supply area is geting replenishment from the main warehouse, not directly from the vendor. These are two different storage location or plants...

  • In-house production with on-line publication and external procurement C5

    Dear SAP Gurus,
I need to configure PPDS to immediate transfer in-house production orders but to have periodical transfer for external procurement, do you know how to do this?
    Thanks and BR
    Andre

    Hi
Goto Spro-APO-supply chain Planning-PPDSGlobal setting-maintain global parameters and defaults-
Transfer to R/3 Inhouse Production- Always create transfer event
Transfer To R/3 External Procurement- Do not create transfer event.
To transfer external procurement periodicaly you can use /SAPAPO/RRP4 go to change mode and click on transfer order.
Have a small test from all angles before going ahead with this approch. As you need check whether changes to already transfered purchase requisition get transfered to ECC if not how you will identify such orders and send it to ECC.
May I know what is buisness reason for such requirement because I seen requirement to transfer inhouse production and external procurement only on conversion but heard of such requirement first time.

  • Externally procured assembly

    hi
    can u tell me plz....
in BOM  one assembly is externally procured but i have mentioned raw material needed for the same.
when i run MRP i should get  PR for only assembly not for raw material needed for it.it is not suggested  to block material for procurement.
    roc

    Hi,
Based on the Material master data system will trigger for Planning.
Without changing the master data it is not possible. You need to put the ND mrp type in the material master for that Raw materials inorder to stop the requirement for that raw materials.
If the Assembly it self is procured externally then what is the need of the BOM for that Assembly. As you are not procuring any raw materials related to that Assembly.
If you really need the BOM then instead of maintaining the Production BOM maintain it as Engineering BOM so that you are aware of the BOM with Assembly and raw materials.
