Asset depreciation for legacy data

Hi,
I encounter the following problem, please input some advices.
An asset from legacy system needed to be migrated into SAP.
In the old system, it starts to depreciate at rate of 20% per year, but after a period of time, it changes the depn. rate into 14%, and will keep using 14% in SAP.
My question is how to handle the changed of rate in SAP during migration? As the lump sum depreciation figures in old system in higher than 14% per year which calculated in SAP, SAP would calculate an adjustment figure and post in coming period during depreciation.
Is it possible to maintain 2 items of depreciation attributes? Specifying the starting dep date and the rate for each period.
Best Regards,

No, I understand it is not possible to have one depreciation key to have different rates in it.
The following are some examples
17% --> 6%
17% --> 14%
15% --> 14%
20% --> 14%
Since the depreciation keys have been created for those on left hand side, I'm thinking is there a possibility that I just created two more for 6% and 14%, and telling system change of depreciation rate by specifying the date of change on each asset... Just wonder got this kind of setting or not.
Thanks!

  • Asset Tables for legacy data takeover

    Dear Friends
We've to take assets data from one client to another and hence would be using Legacy assets.
Could you please let me know from which tables / reports i should extract the data related to master & transaction data from the legacy system which is also on SAP.
ANLA - master data and to take those assets which are not deactivated
    ANLB
ANLC - asset accumulated APC & dep. And current yr dep
    ANLZ - dep terms data
ANEP - asset transaction data for current year acquisitions
I dont have the system in from of me and i hope the above tables are correct.
    1. Please let me know if other tables are required?
    2. Should the dep area data be posted with remaining useful life & expired life in legacy asset?

  • Problems posting depreciation for legacy assets taken over

We recently loaded conversion balances for asset with a takeover date of Aug 2nd, with various prior capitalization dates. The date of last depreciation posted was set as Dec 31st 2004. When we try to post unplanned depreciation for all of 2005 in December, the system says depreciation for period 12 was already posted, so do a repeat run. There was no depreciation actually posted for period 12, because there were no assets before today. A check of the expense account and depreciation report and a search by depreciation doc type confirm this.
When we try a repeat run, it says cannot do it for period 12, need to do it for period 000. When we try it for period 000, it says no depreciation areas to post to. The config has been checked and the depreciation areas and posting periods are set up correctly.  The load, the depreciation posting and all steps for closing of asset fiscal year were successfully carried out in DEV and QA. The only difference in PRD is that the year was closed before the load, but we reopened it.
Also, the opening balance in the asset history sheet for 2006 does not agree with the closing balance for 2005, the difference being the planned depreciation amount. The FI-AA reconciliation report RAABST02 also shows a difference only in the Accum Depn accounts, equal to this figure. So clearly the system THINKs depreciation was posted. When we try to close asset fiscal year it says depreciation was not completely posted for 2005, but it won't let us post it. HELP!

I tested this whole thing in DEV and QA before we did the same process in PRD, and I was able to run depreciation in those clients, so I think the problem is specific to PRD. As I mentioned, the only difference in PRD is that we had closed the fiscal year so I had to re-open it to perform the load.
Yes, the problem I have been experiencing has been for Dec 2005 and I don't expect there to be anything in TABA because the system simply will not let me post depreciation of any type, for any period in 2005. I've tried it for period 8 as well. No matter what, it keeps insisting that depreciation was already run for period 12 2005 and to do a repeat run. When I try a repeat run, it says 'the last posting run was for period 000' and that only period 000 can be posted in the repeat run. When I try doing it for period 000, it says "there are no areas to post to".
I did try to reverse the Y/E close with OAAQ for 2005, but still no luck getting depreciation running. So you see why resetting it was looking like a good option? :-0

  • Reverse Asset Depreciation for Closed FY

    Hi Asset Gurus...
Need your expert advice...on the following Asset issue....
PROBLEM : We have done the Year end closing for FY 2009 for our assets in Jan 2010. But we have already reported out Balance sheet in Dec 2009 for FY 2009. Now, when we have closed the FY 2009 in Jan 2010, system postes some financial entries related to Depreciation difference between area 01 and area 02 on the balance sheet.
Now the business thinks its not acceptable..as what we see in SAP for the BS 2009 contradicts what we have already reported to the authorities..
So, we need to change this situation in SAP...i.e. correct these postings ( or infact cancel these postings that have happened due to this depreciation difference between area 01 and area 02 in the Fy 2009 ) so that the BS 2009 shown in SAP would match what we have reported.
Now the real problem is that : THE ASSET FISCAL YEAR IS ALREADY CLOSED AND ALSO WE CANNOT MANUALLY POST ANY FI ENTRIES FOR THESE DEPRECIATION DIFFERENCE GL ACCOUNTS AS THEY CAN BE POSTED ONLY INTERNALLY.
SOLUTION THOUGH OF : Now, We see that probable solution would be re run the Depreciation for FY 2009 again by opening period 12 2009 so that the depreciation differences calculated wrongly would be gone.( But is this kind of suggested or acceptable ).
In the Other case, should we do an ASSET WRITE UP OR TRANSFER POSTINGS to negate the postings that have already happened.
One more thing..I want to clarify is that : THE REASON THE DEPRECIATION DIFFERENCES OCCURRED BETWEEN AREA 01 and AREA 02 is because both of them had a different depreciation key in FY 2009( somehow they had diff. dep keys which was wrong as told to us by the business and they discoverd this situation in 2010 ). So, we corrected the Dep keys for the two areas in FY 2010 ....But for the FY 2009 , when we closed the FY 2009, the depreciation differences already got posted in the Balance Sheet.
REAL PROBLEM IS THAT WE WERE ABLE TO CORRECT THE DEPRECIAITION KEYS IN THE ASSETS, but WE WANT TO CORRECT THE WRONG POSTINGS THAT HAVE TAKEN PLACE IN FY 2009 ( i mean the Financial postings that took place.. the GL accounts that got posted are Acc. depreciation difference account and dep. difference account ).
We also cannot manually reverse this FI entry , as these postings happeend automatically..
So i see..probable solution is reopen the FY 2009 and carry out a repeat dep run ??
Or do a ASSET WRITE UP OR TRANSFER POSTNGS FOR THESE GL ACCCOUNTS?
I am not an expert myself but seek the guidance of the experts here to resolve our issue..
In case, you need any more clarification on this problem..I will let you know the same...
Waiting for your feedback on the same..
    Thanks,
    Kris.....

There is no issue with FY 2010 as we have changed the Dep. Key in 2010.
The issue is with only FY 2009 which is now closed.
But the transaction ABF1 as you have mentioned cannot be used in this case, as when we try to post to these GL accounts, it gives us the message that they can only be posted automatically by the system ( which i think is true as these postings occur only after the dep. run ).
Is there any other tcode through which we can correct the wrong dep. values that were posted in FY 2009.
    Thanks,
    Kris...

  • Asset Depreciation for a period

I was looking for a standard report for depreciation which would allow me to input the posting periods "From" to "To". Basically I would want to check depreciation posted for a period of time, beginning depreciation and end depreciation.
My key requirement is the ability to input posting periods or date. For example from period 1 to period 3 or period 4 to period 6 where I can get the values fo beginning depreciation, depreciation posted for the period/s, Accumulated depreciation.
I need this report by Asset Class
    Thanks.

In SAP there is no std report which can give you "from" and "to" period with starting deprec, posted deprec, and accum deprec. You will have to develop that custom report.
Std SAP report S_P99_41000192 will give you deprec posted "from" and "to" period.

  • Updation of Goods Receipt Date for legacy data

    Dear Experts,
We went GOLIVE of SAP 6.0 version on 31.01.2008. At that time we have uploaded Inventory of Stores & Spares material wise with the GR Date as 31.01.08 as we could not get the actual date of receipt of thos materials.
Now we could able to find out the actual date of Goods Receipt of some of items and want to update it so that SAP standard report for Age Wise Analysis can be correctly generated from SAP.
Can any body advise, is it possible, if yes thru LSMW and which T-code and which field.
    Regards,
    Alok

    Hi
This is not possible. You need to keep the previous data outside SAP. You can put stock in current period or previous period. Not in all the months of last year.

  • Asset Legacy data transfer reconciliation with GL

We have recently merged a deactivated company code with our operating company and transferred all Finance processes, open items, master data etc.
We transferred assets using Legacy Data Transfer AB91 (we did not use intercompany asset transfer ABT1N).
We then transferred the Trial Balance.
The asset balances reconcile against the GL accounts for the transferred assets when executing S_ALR_87011964 and FS10N.
However there is a difference in ABST2 which is the same difference as the migrated assets.
I would expect there to be no difference between FI and AA for legacy data transfer
I have also run ABST for all affected GL accounts and there is no difference when executing this report.
Note that the company code migration occurred in January 2008, there is no effect on 2007 year end data.

    Hi
You have to take over the GL  balance using OASV t.code

  • Asset-Building legacy data

    Dear all
There is scenario for Asset-Building in legacy data......for building there are many line items...for e.g.
    1. Building is  purchased
    2. then some addition in this asset(with other date)
    etc.
Now how to upload this assets in the system.....
    regards

    Hi,
    Now i got confuse..
You want to upload the asset data in SAP form your Legacy system... Correct
If it is so then you have 2 option
    1. you can upload the asset in SAP by creating different Asset code base on different acquisition made in same asset in your legacy.and upload the dep differently.
    2. You consolidate the value of all the year and upload in one asset in sap
Total Acquisition value and total Dep on all the asset

  • Asset depreciation calculation for prevous year  when legacy data transfere

    Hello,
Asset Legacy Data transfer has made as on 31.12.2006. so, for the first period asset depreciation calculation has done wrongly  i.e. on the first period of 2007. but it was not noticed at that point of time, now after 2 years, the cumulative difference is coming out very big.
for 1st period, in Asset Value Tab of AS03,  for period 01 , 2007 when i am checking right now it shows for dep. Area 01 right now that Amt to be post (14.48) instead of that in the next line for Dep. area 20 and in the next line it shows, Amt. to be posted ( -0.28). hence, for next period only differnce amount is posted in G/L side instead of actual it should be posted as 14.76.
so, now because of this error, my G/L and AA sides are not matching up.
eventhough i post manual reversal entry via FB01, when i will run ABST2 there will be problem.
if i run manual unplanned depreciation, then will my problem of not matching of Asset side and GL side will be solved. ?
also, please provide suggestion from your end in order to solve this issue.
    Thanking you for your help.
    Jigs.

We cannot post any depreciation to previous fiscal year 2008 as no planned depreciation is envisaged for the previous year 2008. The transfer date for Legacy asset data transfer is maintained as 12/31/2008 and takeover values are uploaded accordingly. Hence, 2009 is a first year for Asset Accounting of the company code.
However, Depreciation posting program checks for previous period log while executing for the current period. The logs are stored in u201CTABAu201D table. For new company code there will not be any entries in TABA table.
Due to missing functionality, System is checking for previous year depreciation posting logs even though the current fiscal year is first year for planned depreciation and giving error message AA 687.
As per SAP Note 144441 this error can be rectified with the help of correction program ZACORR_TABA_ENTRY_CREATE.
    Steps to Rectify the Error:
    1. Copy correction program from SAP Note 144441 into SAP System.
    2. Execute the program with transaction code SA38
    3. Check the values in test mode
    4. If the table is updated with documennt number , remove the test mode tick and execute again
    5. Execute the deprecation

  • Error when importing Asset Legacy Data

    Hi Gurus,
I get an error when I use LSMW and T.Code AS91 to import Asset Legacy Data...
    "AS91 S 00 347 Field ANW1-KNAFA . is not an input field".
Is there a way to change that field to input?  Currently that field is greyed... If I do manual upload in the foreground, then it gives an warning but creates the Asset, but if we do it automatic in the background it fails.
Can you help me on this.
    Thanks for you time.

    Hi Linda,
    Thanks for your reply.
We are doing a mid year take over and the last depreciation was done in Dec 2006.
I am using LSMW with T.code AS91.  Can you let me know where is this "transactional date" that we have to enter.
I have seen that the master data gets uploaded, but with error in the last screen where the deprecitation is inputed, the error that I have explained in my post.  Can you help me on that?
    Thanks.
