  • Add a existing depreciation area to an existing asset

    Dear All,
We have erroneously deactivated the main depreciation area (book depreciation) on an legacy take over asset. How can we reactivate the same?
    History so far:
We took over legacy assets on 30.06.2005 (when we went live) in the Asset Management module. All the legacy values were taken over. Depreciation was run and subsequently year 2005 was closed in the Asset Management module.
After almost 15 months we found that one legacy asset does not have the main depreciation area (book depreciation) activated.
I tried substitution rules, but the field ANLB-AFABE is not available for substitution. Even when I add this to the table GB01 (Bool Class 30) it does not become available for substitution.
Can some one advise, if they have faced a similar problem.

  • New Depreciation Area tobe added to the existing Assets

    Hi,
I had Run OAYZ to activate a depreciation area for a Asset Class
I run AFBN to add this new depreciation area to the existing assets.
When I go to Assets Explorer (AW01N) I get following area
Values for Ordinary deprec. have changed in dep. area 13 in fiscal year 2007
        Message no. AU390
    Diagnosis
Depreciation terms were changed in depreciation area 13 since the last
time depreciation was recalculated. The values for Ordinary deprec. that
were saved in the database in fiscal year 2007 are therefore different
from the newly calculated values by an amount of
        476.41-.
    Procedure
Check if the newly calculated values are correct. If they are, then
carry out a depreciation recalculation. You should be aware that if you
recalculate depreciation, new values could arise for all open fiscal
years, and these would then have to be posted to the general ledger by
means of a depreciation posting run.
If, on the other hand, you want to keep the values that are saved in the
database, you have to set the depreciation terms back to how they were
at the time of the last depreciation recalculation.
To see a comparison of the old and new values, you can use the Display
dep. calc. function in the asset value display or the Recalculate values
function in the Asset Accounting menu.
    Proceed
Now if I try to click on proceed and recalculate the depreciation (AFAR) the system gives error
40001        0    WRK SURF FOR RDQ WRKPROJCT RMS-RSCH DATA OP.   2007 Error

Pl. guide me for the same.

    Hi Sanjay,
Execute T Code AFBN and add the new depreciation areas to the existing assets. This will add the new dep area to all the assets under the particular char of depreciation.

  • New Depreciation Area - AFBN

    Dear Experts,
My user has given a new scenario where we have to calculate tax depreciation for assets transferred from US books to SG books. When the transfers were executed, the tax depreciation area was not set up in the SG books' Chart of Depreciation. We do have other company codes assigned to the same chart of depreciation. For these other company codes, tax depreciation calculation is not required. In addition, the transferred assets and the assets in the other company codes share the same asset classes. The requirement is that we want to calculate the tax depreciation in the SG book only but not the other company codes.
Initially, we are looking at setting up the tax depreciation area in the SG book and activate the depreciation area via AFBN (program RAFABNEW). This will activate the tax depreciation area for all existing assets under the chart of depreciation/asset class assignment. However, we found out that we could not deactivate the depreciation area in the existing assets in the other company codes. This is regardless of whether we activate the field XAFBE (deactivate depreciation area) in the depreciation area layout. Seems that this only works with new assets.
Would like to seek your advice on the options available other than creating new asset classes for these transferred assets.
Is it possible to enhance the program RAFABNEW to include company code and asset classes?
    Thank you.

This is another option that I used on that scenario, but it is up to you if you want to follow the same approach. We created a custom program that will put a temporary deactivation date on the assets the we do not want to extend the new book. Basically this is direct update on field ANLA-DEACTIV.
Then we run AFBN, since the assets are deactivated, new depreciation area will not be created on these assets, but only on those assets that are active.
Then you can set the deactivation date again back to "Blank" after you run AFBN.
    Thanks!

  • Value in new depreciation area is Zero

    Hello All,
I have created a new depreciation area 11. In OABC it is set as 01 (values from book depreciation). In OAYZ, I have assigned the new depreciation area to new asset classes. Then I transferred to value from old assets to new assets by ABUMN and run AFBN for opening the new depreciation area.
In AW01N, I can see the new depreciation area for the asset but with zero value. In the transactions I see the transfer with transaction type 158 and with zero value for the new area. The transaction type taken for book depreciation is 310 and has the correct value. But earlier when I did the testing in quality the transaction type was 310 for both the areas.
In AFBN, the check box Leave initial value was unchecked initially and when I ran it again I result was processed 0 and error 0. I reversed one asset and transferred to new asset class containing both depreciation area again. But again the value in depreciation area 11 is Nil.
    Please help.
    Thanks,
    Sangram

    Hi Sangram
Since you are already executed AFBN with the option "Leave initial values", you cannot update the records now, as the table entries have already would have got created in tables ANLB,ANLC, etc.
Now if you want to copy values from other depreicaiton areas to new dep area, one option is to copy a ZZZAFANEW1 by doing a small modification (that is by changing all ABAP commands INSERT to UPDATE) and execute this program.  This will update the values from the source depreciation area to target depreciation area, even if table record already exists.
This code is available in SAP note no.317806
Test it thoroughly before using it in Production client.  Also take care to enter a correct source and target depreciation area to avoid further problems.
    Hope this helps.

  • FI-AA new depreciation area - treatment depreciation previous years

    Hi,
In the FI-AA module , next to the already existing depreciation area 01 for Fiscal reporting with full integration of postings to FI-GL, I have created a new depreciation area 20 for te purpose of Management reporting which takes over its APC values from depreciation area 01 and does only post different Depreciation values to FI-GL.
Subsequently I updated the data for the new depreciation area in teh already existing asset master data records ( different depreciation keys).
The depreciation calculation and resulting postings for the current year are correct.
    However I wonder what will happen with the data for the previous years;
when i look in the asset explorer i do see for the new depr area in the "posted values" tab that it reports for the previous years planned depreciation amounts . However we do not want to post these amounts in the previous years because these years have already been closed and audited.
Will we be able at the end of this fiscal year to changeover FI-AA to the new fiscalyear ( transactions AJAB, AJRW) without the system complaining with error messages that we first need to also perform the depreciation postings for all the previous years in this new depreciation area ?
Many thanks in advance for your much appreciated help.
    Kind Regards,
    Arjan

Can you please tell me how you added the new depreciaton area to the existing asset masters in those classes ?  To get the new depreciation area to show up?  We just did the same thing and we're only working with assets that were acquired this year - but we can't get the new depreciation area added to the assets that already existed in those classes.  If you figured out how to do that it would sure help us out.  I look forward to your response.  We're in 4.7.
    Thanks
    Karla
Never mind found it from reading other posts.  I used AFBN and it worked.  Thanks

    Sangram

    Dear Sangram
To ad a depreciation areas you have to proceed as follows. Point 3 explains how to get how to get the net book value in
    area 11.
    1. Create Depreciation area via OADB.
    2. Activate Depreciation area via OAYZ.
    3. Automatic opening of new depreciation are via AFBN and program
       RAFABNEW :
3.1     Indicator: Leave values initial = not ticked.
Do not set this indicator if you want the system
to copy the values from depreciation area 01.
3.2     Indicator: Leave values initial = ticked.
Set this indicator if you want to open the newly created
depreciation area without any values i.e. blank.
    4. Recalculate depreciation via AFAR and program RAAFAR00.

  • New Depreciation Area in Asset Master Data, for assets under construction.

    Hi,
The issue is relating to New Depreciation area. We have created new Depreciation area as 80=IFRS.  We had followed three steps
    1. Create Depreciation area via OADB.
    2. Activate Depreciation area via OAYZ.
    3. Automatic opening of new depreciation are via AFBN and program RAFABNEW :-
3.1 u2013 Indicator: Leave values initial = ticked.  Set this indicator if you want to open the newly created depreciation area without any values i.e. blank.
In this we have find that the old assets value has been copied. But when we are doing internal order settlement through KO88 i.e. from pre-cap to AUC we are not finding new Depreciation area 80=IFRS in AUC. We had checked in AW01N.
Letu2019s assume that creating a new deprecation area is normally not required since these assets are not depreciated. But During the final settlement, the new depreciation area should also automatically supplied with values from the reference depreciation area from the AUC(assets under construction) in the completed assets. But we doesnu2019t find any values of in Dep Key = 80 IFRS for final assets.
In Assets Class of AUC we had used  Investmnet Measure as Status of AUC.
Kindly provide solution for the same.
    Nikhil

Check Transfer Variant 5 (under Transactions->Intercompany Asset Transfers->Automatic Intercompany Asset Transfers->Define Transfer Variants):
    5     Investment measure settlement
Your Transfer Method is most likely 1 now (without transfer to dependant areas), change it to:
4     Gross method with transfer of values to dependent areas
    This should help.

  • Different Asset value dates for different depreciation areas

    Hi All
I have a requirement for different capitalization dates in different depreciation areas for some LATAM countries .How can this be achieved?

    Hi
Hope you can achive this requirement by entering Depreciation calculation start date in depreciation area tab of asset master against each depreciation area
    Depreciation calculation start date
'As a general rule, the system determines the depreciation start date from the asset value date of the first acquisition posting. However, you can also manually enter a calendar date in the asset master record for the start of depreciation. In that case, the system ignores the asset value date of the acquisition posting.'
Please check different scenarios in development system and then do it

  • Avoid depreciation posting for a depreciation area

    Hello experts,
    I have the following problem:
I created a new valuation area for fixed assets that is to be active since 31.12.2007. Values are going to be uploaded for the new area in this transfer date. Afterwards, depreciation  for years 2008, 2009 and 2010 is to be run in order to post the depreciation of the new area during these years but I don´t want any depreciation to be posted in area 01 by any means, because for this area depreciation is already posted. I know that no depreciation shoud be posted because planned depreciation is already equal to real depreciation in area 01 but just in any case I would like to avoid depreciation to be posted in this area.
So, I thought about shutting down the asset for area 01 but when testing it. I don´t see the efect, I mean the asset keeps depreciating. I put the shutdown flag in the asset master data and also created a new depreciation key, to assign a different key depending on depreciation area. For the area I need sutdown, shutdown indicator is set to "yes" at the assignment of calculation method (transaction AFAMA) but for the depr. area I don´t need the sutdown indicator is set to "no" .
Is it a good idea to use asset shutdown in this case or is there any risk of area 01  trying to adjust the already posted depreciation?
Why shutting down the asset is failing since I configured both asset master master and depr. key?
Is there another solution (different to shutdown) to avoid posting depreciations in area 01?
    Thanks in advace, rmb

    Hi,
my last answer was wrong - I'm sorry.
    Shutdown is the correct solution.
For shutdown there are 2 settings relevant.
    1) in Asset master date you hav set the flat shotdown.
    2) In depr. Key you have not set "Shutdown. Yes"
          ad 2)
    AFAMA:
      Depr. Key
        -> Assignment of Calculation Methods
-> please see the last field below.
For sure I would not change the standard depr. key, i would make a copy.

    2. How to make a asset transfer to the new asset in the new asset class?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi,
The pre-requsit of creating a new assets clause :-
    1. Co. code assigned to Chart of Dep.
    2. Dep areas have been defined
    3. GL account no. is not more than 8 digit.
The transfer of an assets within the same co code can be done thru T.code ABUMN.

while i am posting f-90 asset e. auqsiation its giving error massage

Company code BP01 manages parallel currencies in Asset Accounting. For each area that posts automatically online to FI, you have to define one dependent depreciation area that adopts both identical values and depreciation terms from depreciation area 01, and which is assigned to currency type 60 and currency INR. There is no depreciation area of this type defined for depreciation area 01.

Create a New Depreciation area with APC Values and Depn values identical to Value 01.
    Then goto valuation> currencies
Specify the Use of Parallel Currencies> and assign the currency type and valuation view to the new depn area. tick the identical values

Define Depreciation Areas for Foreign Currencies> give the parallel currency against the depn area
    Now try doing the transaction.

  • Post revaluation to selected depreciation area for an asset

    Hi,
We are using depreciation area '01' for posting to GL accounts and '02' for fiscal reporting. It turned out that couple of assets had wrong depreciation key specified for depreciation area '02', which resulted in wrong depreciation calculated for '02' in last 3 years.
We would like to correct it now, once we discovered this issue. One of the ideas was to create new revaluation transaction type which is active only for depreciation area '02', which will only change value of asset in that particuaral area without affecting correct '01',
However, after configuring new transaction type in AO84 and assigning it to '02' depreciation area in OAXJ, when I tried to run ABAW for this asset - it gave me error AA 380.
+Inconsistency between the specifications for transaction type Z11 and for the depreciation areas in chart of depreciation PTI.
Depreciation area 02 is defined (in Customizing), so that it is required to take over values from area 01. However, one of these ares cannot be posted to, due to the specifications in transaction type Z11. This combination is not allowed.+
Is it possible to configure postings only to one depreciaton area? If not - is there any other easy way of revaluating only one depreciation area for an asset.
    Thank you,

    Hi Blaz,
Thank you for your reply. I am trying to increase the value of the asset in depreciation area 02, because due to wrong depreciation key it got fully depreciated last year in 02. I want to add the value to 02 which should have not been depreciated in last 2 years. Is there a way to increase its value using ABAA?
    Thank you,
    Karol
