ATA 186 status

Hi,
How is it possible to check the status of ATA 186?
Is it registered with a SIP server?
Is there an active conversation?
Which phone port is in use?
What codec is being used?
What is the current packet rate/bandwidth consumption for a call?
How to check for possible system issues/errors?
Does ATA 186 have a command line interface?
Thanks.
Alex

Hi
Cisco ATA 186 has an IVR which can be accessed through your phone.
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/gatecont/ps514/products_configuration_example09186a00800c3a50.shtml
Once the IP address is set through IVR, the device can be accessed through "http:///dev"
Pls rate the helpful posts.

JD

hi, i have a problem with ATA 186
when I light on the ATA it work very well after a certain moment the calls doesn't pass anymore Im forced to reboot every time when this problem happend
    thanks

IS this CCM? If so please report to IP telephony forum where there are many fellows that can help.
If it is CCME I would start looking at the status of the ephone, and try to ping the ATA when it freezes.

  • How do I/Do I need to fix "ata#.00 status { DRDY }" error?

I've got an old server that used to be running windows that I have received to set up with linux for myself.  As I was working with it, I remembered that I had an old computer that I was just going to trash/give away anyways, of which many components would be better.  I have since set up a computer that's a mash of components between the two and everything seems to run perfectly except for one problem: I keep getting this error: (Where "#" is either 2, 3, or 4)
    ata#.00: exception Emask 0x50 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x48900 action 0x6 frozen
    ata#: SError: {UnrecovData HostInt 10B8B Handshk }
    ata#.00: failed command WRITE DMA
    ata#.00: cmd ca/00:88:9f:ca:8d/00:00:00:00:00/e8 tag 0 dma 69632 out
res 50/00:88:9f:ca:8d/00:00:9e:c9:8d/e8 Emask 0x50 (AtA bus error)
    ata#.00: status: { DRDY }
This error occurred once for each of the three numbers (which also happens to correspond to the three sata ports my HDs are plugged into): 2 and 3 while I was using dd to zero them (I zeroed all three but 4 didn't give any errors), and 4 just after installing grub onto a mirror raid composing of HDs 2 and 3.
All of the HDs originally used IDE so I used a converted to switch them (Model number CB-IS100)
Additionally, when deconstructing the computers, one of the sata cables tore the first female connector out of the motherboard (hence why they start at 2), but while I know that's not preferable, I don't think it would cause this error.
Finally, this motherboard was in a computer that had, as far as I could tell, a poor power supply that cause it to reboot when using a lot of CPU power.
My question is really this: Will this cause any major problems or can I ignore it?  Also, is there anything I can do to fix it?

ATA bus error means that data corruption occurred during transmission over ATA bus (SATA or PATA). This type of errors can be indicated by
ICRC or ABRT error as described in the section called “ATA/ATAPI device error (non-NCQ / non-CHECK CONDITION)”.
Controller-specific error completion with error information indicating transmission error.
On some controllers, command timeout. In this case, there may be a mechanism to determine that the timeout is due to transmission error.
Unknown/random errors, timeouts and all sorts of weirdities.
As described above, transmission errors can cause wide variety of symptoms ranging from device ICRC error to random device lockup, and, for many cases, there is no way to tell if an error condition is due to transmission error or not; therefore, it's necessary to employ some kind of heuristic when dealing with errors and timeouts. For example, encountering repetitive ABRT errors for known supported command is likely to indicate ATA bus error.
Once it's determined that ATA bus errors have possibly occurred, lowering ATA bus transmission speed is one of actions which may alleviate the problem.
I'd also add; make sure you have good backups when ATA errors are frequent

  • Is it possible to configure an SNMP copmmunity string on an ATA 186 without accessing it via console?

I am trying to configure a particular SNMP community string on many ATAs for a Cisco 'Know the Network' project. On a Cisco ATA 186, you cannot telnet or SSH to it and the only way to remotely change the parameters are via the web GUI, which doesn't have the SNMP field available.
Is this possible without getting physical console access to the ATA?

    No.
An ASA can, as you noted, restrict source and destination IP and port. To do what you are asking, one would need to prevent a string within the payload from being transmitted (or only accept certain strings).
You should just put the access-list on the destination device(s) restricting what host(s) are allowed snmp rw (as you alluded to). That's a very common implementation straight out of the textbook.

  • !!cisco ATA 186, back to back.SOS

hi there, just enlighten me on cisco ATA 186 back to back config, my network is like:
phone---ATA----Switch---ATA---Phone,wnat to know the sample config, if this not possible, fine ,then let me know what shud i configure to get a dial tone,as im getting a busy tone than a dial tone, or lastly what shud i do to reset the ATAs to factory default settings,
    cheers
    shukky

If your ATA is running skinny right now then I think it is not possible (because no callmanager in the picture).
But if you load your ATA with a SIP image then in the SIP proxy filed, you can specify the IP address of the other SIP ATA and then you should be able to call from one ATA to another.
I haven't tried that with the ATA, but done with the 7940 phones and it worked.
To get the dial-tone, you must configure a number for the ATA first. (UID)
To reset the ATA for factory defaults

  • ATA 186 Reproducing DTMF tones from RFC2833 events

I am trying to get my ATA 186 (running version SCCP 3.x under CCM 5.04a) to reproduce received rtp-events. This is supporting a third-party IVR system that is connected via analog ports.
The IOS gateway that is sending the events is configured for dtmf-relay rtp-nte, and I can see the RTP events being received at the ATA. However, all I hear at the ATA is nothing or clicks.
I have the audiomode setting on the ATA set to 0x00150015 as is recommended in the ATA administrators guide.
Does anyone have DTMF working through the ATA?

    Hi Kevin,
have you debugged the ATA with prserv.exe?
I had some issues in the past with a PESQ tester, and setting the audiomode to 0x00120012 helped for me.

  • ATA 186 Issue to send faxes

    Hi,
I have an issue with ATA 186 to send faxes. I have tried many things, but the fax sending  is unsuccessful. I am not a VoIP expert, so it is pretty hard to me to identify the difference between some commands. This is the topology of the network:
    Fax Machine --- ATA ---- CCM ---- VoIPGW --- E1(PSTN)
I have the following values in ATA:
    AudioMode: 0x00120012
    ConnectMode: 0x00008400
This is the dial-peer configured to that Fax:
    dial-peer voice 1010 voip
    call-block translation-profile incoming 110
    call-block disconnect-cause incoming call-reject
    preference 1
    destination-pattern 1044
    voice-class h323 1
    session target ipv4:10.15.190.4
    dtmf-relay cisco-rtp h245-signal h245-alphanumeric
    codec g711ulaw
    fax rate disable
    fax protocol pass-through g711ulaw
    no vad
Aditionaly I had the following lines in VoIPGW:
    ccm-manager fax protocol cisco
    mgcp
    mgcp fax t38 ecm
    Recently I changed to:
    no ccm-manager fax protocol cisco
    mgcp
    mgcp fax t38 inhibit
Not sure if I missing something, in the other hand I would like to know which is the different between  fax protocol pass-through g711ulaw and modem passthrough nse codec g711ulaw
    Thanks for your comments....

    Hello,
    There is one relly important detail on this matter, is the fax machine a super G3 fax machine? this is because as you mention there are some limitation for the ATAs to work with fax machines and modems, this is because the device was not designed for this purpose.}
In the follow link you could find some information about the ATA configuration for faxing:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/gatecont/ps514/products_qanda_item09186a00800946e1.shtml
Another important detail is check if your gateway supports the type of faxing that you are trying to do
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/tech/tk652/tk777/technologies_tech_note09186a0080159cf3.shtml
Finally this are the configuration steps for you voice gaway:

  • ATA-186 can be registered with CUCM v10.5

    Hello guys ;
Please confirm me that ATA-186 can work with CUCM v10.5 ? .
    Regards;
    Shib

Loaded the latest firmware into CM, then manually on ATA firmware using this process as CM didn't change it:
    http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/voice_ip_comm/cata/186_188/3_0/english/administration/guide/sccp/sccp3_0/sccpaapc.html#wp1011450
I followed this link from another post regarding ASA not registering for an older issue.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/voice_ip_comm/cata/186_188/3_0/english/administration/guide/sccp/sccpaape.html#wpxref59054
Follow the part that mentions setting the SID0 & SID1 to "." no quotes.  I did this and my ATA registered to CM.  Screen caps attached.
I have a Cisco ATA 186 running on 10.5.1 and it shows to be registered.  I can make calls on it.  Not sure how it will do for faxes.  HTH Please rate.

  • ATA 186 for FAX With CME

    Hi,
I have ATA 186 connected to my network when i connect a phone it works but when I connected fax machine i cannot recieve or send faxes...do I need to do any configurations in ATA...please check the attachment..

you'll need dial peer(s), on your CME router, that enable FAX passthrough as well as a few other pieces.
please see the following link for Config/Troubleshooting ATA-186 with FAX:

  • ATA-186 with overhead paging systems

Since the ATA-186 supplies 600 Ohms, would I need a seperate device such as a Bogen TAM-B to supplie the audio for overhead paging, or could I just use the ATA-186?

ATA-186 can be used as an audio source.

  • Remote-Party-ID with ATA 186

The remote-party-id field in my invite message to an ATA 186 does not appear to be tranlating properly to caller-id. Does the ATA support Remote-Party-ID? If so, do I have to modify any settings? Currently, the from address is showing up in the caller-id screen of a phone connected to the ATA.
    Thanks,
    Stephen

    Hello,
Can You please forward the URL which tells the configuration part to be taken place

  • Ata 186 second port problem

    Hello
There are a atas186 who was registered to a CUCM version 6.1,the call manager was migrated to version 8.6 but now the second por when a call is answered immediately when give a fast busy tone, the first port works perfect, and i have changed many parameters and did a factory reset without success.
    S/W Version 3.02.04(090202A)
    App Load ID ATA030204SCCP090202A
    Thanks.

Your ata´s place calls  across the wan?
If yes, the the ata 186, only support one port in g729 codec the port 0, the second port works only in g711 codec so try to configure a region to place calls only in g711 codec across the wan and problem solve
    i hope it helps...
