Audigy 4 Digital sound set up. Help me please!!
I recently brought an Audigy 4 sound card. I want to hook it up through my digital amp so i can have 5. digital sound etc. I connected the card with an optical cable in the digital input socket on the card.....Nothing works.
What am i doing wrong?
Do i need a different kind of cable? If so which one? Or is there someting i need to do in set up?

If is a fillable form, just tab to the next field. What we do not understand from you is IF it is a fillable form or not. If it is not, then the 3 options I gave can be used. Placing text is always a problem. You might find it useful to turn on the grid to help in placing your typewriter fields. However, if it is fillable you do not have to create any fields to type in, you just leave the tool as the hand tool and select the predefined fields with the cursor or the tab key and type accordingly. If the field is a checkbox, then you just use the space key to activate it.
So, are we talking about a fillable form or something that has the appearance of a form, but not fields to fill in. This is what Bernd has been try to find out and you keep suggesting it is fillable as we read what you have said.

No Digital Sound, with X_FI Fata1ity Card. HELP
I haveing a heck of a time getting digital sound from vista, I have my speakers pkluged into the flex jack, but can't seem to find where do set the digital sound option within vista, using creative audio console, have spdif set to default and 48, have the speakers set in the sound option in control panel undwr custom to enable Digital I/O, is this right, as I have speakers and SPDIF both listed under sound in the control panel, and yes it does work with analog from the card. No CD Digital sound in Audigy 2 ZX + X
Hi, I have a problem getting the cd digital sound to work with the audigy 2 ZX on XP64 (latest drivers, installed twice). From the mixer, if I turn off wav and turn on cd digital there is no sound when playing a cd. I have spdif pass through disabled.
The CD player is working, I hooked up a scope to the 2 wires and there is a signal when music exists and none when paused.
Is this an issue with the drivers on XP64 or is there a defect somewhere else?

Ahhh, you also have to go into the device manager and disable the "Digital CD Playback" under the properties of the CD/DVD dri've before it will output to the analog / digital connections on the back of the dri've.
All audio from DVD's is done as data. It would never touch that cable regardless. The cable is only used for CD Audio playback when digital extraction is disabled on the dri've.
DVD's have the audio compressed into the MPEG2 format and your DVD playing software handles the audio through to the soundcard. DD decoding is handled by either the DVD playing software or by the soundcard and only the final output is converted to analog (or the DD signal is sent straight to s/pdif out if so configured)

(HELP PLEASE) System Sound & Set of External Speakers

I have a HP Pavilion All-in-One and in the past we've had no problem with neither the system sound or a set of speakers we've hooked up to it. Now suddenly I can only hear audio is I turn it up to 95 or above to hear it at any volume worth listening too, but turning it up that high used to almost blow you out.
Some changes or differences I "think" I notice are when you click on the volume icon in the sys tray, there is only one "mixer" but if you click on that it shows two things, which I don't think it has described them like this before, but it shows like the picture below.
I don't recall ever seeing the "Applications - System Sounds" before. But we can't get the extra speaker set to work and I remember turning the volume up to 6 if I wanted to hear it without disturbing anyone else in the house.
Anyone have any suggestions? The only thing that I know that was changed lately was we switched to AT&T internet but I believe the external speakers worked fine after the installtion. Sound works fine on all programs, but has suddenly stopped on Apple Mail. No "submarine" sound when I send or receive email. I checked the settings in "Preferences" in Apple Mail and it is set to "submarine" as the sound. Any help?
deleted previously imported key chain originated from the previous system (why doesn't apple provide a migration for my key chain?). after the deletion mail can receive and send again and dreamweaver starts without hanging.

Need I/O module to use digital sound with Audigy
Am I understanding this correctly that I need to buy another piece of equiptment to make the sound card work for digital sound? A Digital I/O module for another $5?Seems pretty dumb not to include this.
No, you DON'T need the Digital I/O to use the digital output of your card. Just a plain 3.5mm stereo jack with a pair of RCA connectors on the other end - it will give you the digital coaxial connection. If you want optical digital connection, yes, you need the extra module.And for that speakers, NO, you cannot use a digital connection. Audigy SE - No Sound - DirectSound Test F
Hey guys,
I have a Sound Blaster Audigy SE (PCI card) installed on a DFI Infinity n650i motherboard. I am running XP pro 64-bit. I have tried everything to get this to run (including everything posted here, clean boots and all).
Here are some facts:
- I have disabled the onboard HD audio in the BIOS.
- I have installed every set of drivers (deleting the old ones each time) that should support this system, but I cannot get it to play a single sound (the speakers work and are set up correctly, I made sure, every time, twice).
- Mostly, it will install everything correctly, but then just not make any sound. If I go to the speaker set up panel and test the channels, I get nothing there. (2. setup)
- This might be a critical clue: If I run diagnostics with the drivers that came on the cd, it passes all the tests (except making noise in the speaker channel test). If I run the auto update and get the latest drivers, it fails the directSound test (and the speaker channel test).
I am really stuck here, anything I should try next?
What is the likely culprit for a directSound fail error?
If I have to RMA this card (looking likely) what card will work more reliably with this setup?
HELP!Sorry no help here but same or similar problem. Had problem with Realtek onboard audio which brought me to wits end. Disabled onboard and installed a Audigy Se. I have no sound from any line out and mic doesn't work either. I have an old but excellant speaker setup, MS Digital Sound System 80. WinXP Pro SP2 32 bit. Odd thing here is if I plug the USB in from the speaker system I get sound but still nothing out of Line Outs on sound card. Headphones or speakers get no sound from out ports. I did find in one forum that using the USB connection from the speaker system bypasses the sound card. So I uninstalled the drivers, unplugged the USB, reinstalled (figuring the install without the USB plugged in may make a difference), but still no sound from sound card ports. Instead I get the error message "Device Not Found. Please Select another Device In Configuration. Error Code 88780078". At this point I'm confused. Good Luck to us both.

If you connect the Audigy 2ZS digital out to a standard stereo reciever (sony) digital coax in it will not damage the reciever?
Sounds silly but I know the digital out is meant for connection to propietary creative lab speakers, and I have read that connecting it to other devices can damage them.
Also I should use a regular small "headphone" jack to connect to the digital out on the audigy 2ZS? This should be a mono cable also?

It will not damage the receiver. Something like this (use one of the RCA only - I think is the white one for front speakers):

Read the FAQ about digital connection and be prepared to have only stereo sound in games because Creative soundcards cannot send surround sound from games over digital connection.

For Christmas I got the audigy 2 ZS sound card for my 5. Altec Lansing Speakers. I booted up my computer and detected new hardware and installed it automatically and boom I had sound. Then I put in the audigy 2 ZS cd to install eveything and then asked to reboot so I did... then when windows started up I heard the windows start up tune and then it cracks out and I have no more sound. Can't listen to anything. I've tried several time unistalling the drivers and starting from scratch and the same thing always happens I get no sound after completely installing everything. I've noticed a number of people with this problem and I think Creative should finally help us out and give us a solution. I know its not the speakers as I've tried them on another system. Please help me out I've been struggly the past 2 days to try and get this to work and I'm getting tired of it...

The only thing i coudl think that might be the problem is when you installed the software and it asked you if you wanted "digital out sound" you selected it and continued with the instalation. That would prevent any sound coming out unless you are plugged into the digital port on you sound card.
Go into speaker settings in the creative folder from the start bar and make sure the digital sound box is unticked.

Dolby Digital Auto Setting Doesn't Work w/4.4.2?
I have a bunch of old movies that were recorded in stereo, pre-Dolby, and of course, a bunch of newer in Dolby Digital. After upgrading to Apple TV iOS 4.4.2 yesterday, I now find that the Settings/Audio & Video/Dolby Digital/Auto setting no longer works.
I just started a new iTunes downloaded movie with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound and noticed that it was playing in PCM stereo-only mode for some reason. I then tried a couple of other older iTunes downloaded movies with 5.1 sound, and they all were playing in the same old PCM stereo mode, as well. To get the new movie to play in 5.1 sound, I had to manually change the above Dolby Digital setting to ON.
A similar issue applies to older movies in pre-Dolby stereo. If the above setting is set to Dolby Digital ON, those older movies switch from normal stereo to Dolby Digital 1.0/Center channel only sound, so I have to either switch the Dolby Digital setting to OFF or back to Auto, which defaults to PCM stereo for everything now.
Is anyone else experiencing this change? The Auto function worked perfectly for me before this upgrade.

Analog sound signal no digital sound
I have a A660-BT2G25 laptop which includes DOLBY® Advanced Audio. I connected it via an HDMI cable to the back of my Denon receiver and set the receiver to receive either digital sound input or analog sound input from the laptop that I am currently using as part of my entertainment center. All items in my device manager are operating properly (the system shows NVIDIA High Definition Audio under sound four identical times with all divers identical in each, all with normal operation & no conflicts-not sure if this is normal). The computer recognizes the Receiver as an Denon AVAMP-3 in the sound setup in Control Panel. Further, I have set it as the default and run test after test. The properties there indicate the device is operating normally and shows DTS, Dolby Digital and Dolby Digital Plus. w/HDCP supported, up to 192 sampling rate, 16 & 24 bit. Here is the rub. My receiver is only receiving analog signals under PCM (analog signal) and not DTS (digital) so while the sound is good and clear per my receiver upgrading the signal, there is no digital splitting of the signal to the 5.1 channels. If I force the receiver to take only DTS signals over the HDMI cable there is no sound at all. There is nothing wrong with the receiver. Anybody have any suggestions???
Hi, I just purchased a Mac Pro and am running 10.5.2. I am seeing the exact same behaviour when using the optical digital out from the Mac Pro to a Teac Receiver. It takes about 5 seconds for the audio to start playing from a "silence". If there is continuous playback there are no problems, but if there is ever a significant pause in the audio the receiver shows "unlock" on the display and stops playing out audio.
It certainly does seem like the digital stream is getting interrupted which then causes an issue with the receiver.
I haven't been able to find a solution yet.
