Audigy gameport /analog joystick problems

Hi all,
I have an audigy soundcard. I recently bought a quickshot cheepy analog joystick.
I have loaded the following modules as recommended by Judd.
analog                 11168  0
joydev                  8768  0
ns558                   4996  0
emu10k1_gp              3072  0
gameport               12424  4 analog,ns558,emu10k1_gp
And my joystick is plugged in yet i have no /dev/js0 or /dev/input/js0 .
If i dmesg i get this
gameport: EMU10K1 is pci0000:02:0c.1/gameport0, io 0xdff0, speed 1028kHz
I've tried loading the drivers before the sound ones and after but still no /dev files.
Can anybody else help me please ?
Oh im using the latest 2.6 kernel untouched.

well...
is the emu10k1-gp driver correct for the audigy? run hwdetect --show-other ... is that module listed there?
it may somehow be possible that the analog driver is not recognizing your joystick. i was unable to find specific instructions for your joystick in the kernel joystick driver documentation, so i would presume analog is the one you need, but one can not be sure.
unfortunately, hwdetect doesn't seem to detect joystick drivers. maybe it should!

• Zen V JOYSTICK PROBLEM

Bought my teenage daughter a Zen V for Christmas 2006. Seemed like a good deal for the money?since this was her first experience with an mp3 player, but now I seriously?question if?perhaps?I should have spent a little bit more?money for a better quality product!!?Had problems right out of the package with the unit I got her for Christmas,?kept getting "no device detected" errors. After hours of frustration,?I gave up and returned it for an exact exchange the day after Christmas. The new Zen V has worked fine.....up until today.
Two days ago the plastic joystick "button" developed a crack across the middle of it and has?now completely broken into pieces that are lodged under the orange ring!!? Has this happened to anyone else??First thought would be that excessi've pressure or abuse caused the crack, but knowing my daughter, that would be?very unlikely. She was so excited to finally get an mp3 player that?I've observed her taking great care?of it. Just curious?if?this is a common problem?due to?poor?design/quality? If so, I will most likely?purchase another brand before I go through the headache of having it repaired/replaced.

I was told by Creative customer support that there would be a $25 diagnostic fee (even though one can see by glancing at the front of it what is wrong). And then it would not be covered under warrantee if it was "external damage."? Well, the joystick is obviously external. So maybe they would fix it, but my guess is that they'd charge me more than the cost of a new MP3 player to diagnose and fix it. What are you going to do about your broken joystick? Have you sent the player to Creative? Did they fix it's?If I could only find the tip that popped off, I?could just glue it back on.
The joystick problem seems to be a common one. I was really gentle with my Zen V. My suspicion is that some of the joystick tips just don't get glued on adequately -- and my advice to new owners would be to be a bit rough with the joystick at first to find out if they have a bum one before it is too late to return it to the store if they do. I only used the Zen V for a month, but I owned it for three?months, so returning it to the vendor probably isn't an option.

• Audigy 2 sound card problems

I am hoping that someone out there can help me in a crucial situation.
I am using an Audigy 2 sound card with creative 5. speakers.
I also use Adobe Audition to edit, record sessions for my voice-over jobs.
Recently, I attempted to hook up a web cam so that I could see my grand daughter on the west coast.
After hooking up the web cam, I noticed my home studio environment changed drastically. I began having trouble with recording using my microphone through my Macki mixer. I began hearing a continuous hiss that I had never experienced before.
In fact after uninstalling the web cam, and restarting my computer, I got that horrible blue screen on my computer indicating the world was about to end! Smile
Long story short, I was able to finally get my computer back up, but I continue to experience problems recording "clean' audio".
Three things, after reinstalling Creative from disc several times and restarting my computer I receive a window stating Creative Media Source Detector.....Unable to load needed components....Please reinstall the application"
Also, when trying to test my sound hardware I get a message stating...Direct play voice setup..."an error occurred during direct play voice setup....error code 0x80004005
Last but not least I cannot access the "Creative diagnostic feature on my computer. I only get a small window for this feature that will not open up fully and allow me to run a diagnostic test!
I know this is a lot to absorb, but I cannot get anyone from Creative to address my problems because I am out of warranty and therefore not getting any love from this company.
Need your advice and or guidance on this.
Please respond when time allows.
Vopro

Re: Audigy 2 sound card problems? use add/remove programs and remove all creative software and drivers, then do the same for your web cam and unplug it
restart your pc
download and install and use it to clean up any left over creative bits and bobs and restart your pc when it asks you to
now download and install the
once your back in to windows try recording something and see if everything's back to normal
now reinstalling your web cam but don't reinstall using the cd that came with it
find the manufacturer's website and get the latest drivers
install cd's best avoided simply because the software and drivers they contain are typically the initial release versions, and so potentially very old
and i think we can all agree that old, buggy drivers can be a real pain

• Sound blaster Audigy 2 zs gamer problem!

(Sound blaster Audigy 2 zs gamer problem!? I had a recent problem recently that caused Windows not to load at all. After getting that fixed and the computer back home I have run into a sound issue. None of the Creative's Media Source programs would work properlly. When clicked on I would get the error that the program has encountered an error and needs to close. Finally un-installed all creative programs and related software and went through the re-install process. Encountered an error that program could not load because plxcore.plx cannot be found. I went through the solution listed on?Creative's web site to fix the?issue and none of fixes worked. Recently deleted everything Creative again by uninstalling all drivers and going through the installshield folder and deletd all creative related items. Went through the install process again. Had the plx error, fixed it and had sound but had the same problems with the Media SOurce as before. Went to Creative's web site through auto updater for a new driver and other essential items needed for my sound. Back to no sound again. Under Windows control panel under sounds and audio devices under volume tab, it will not even let me select the speaker setting or place the volume control on the task bar. @99.3.9.75

Try updating your BIOS to the latest and have the sound card tested on another machine to see if it is still functioning.

• Joystick problem in DOS Shell under Windows XP

(I had previously posted this in another forum on the Internet, copy 'n' pasted here to save me a bit of typing) I can't seem to to get my joysticks and/or gamepads functioning in a DOS shell under Windows XP. Initially I was trying to run Death Rally under 'DOSBox', and couldn't get the game to recognize my Gravis Gamepad. At first I thought the problem might be with DOSBox, but then realized that the gamepad wasn't recognized under a simple DOS shell as well. I have a P4 2.66ghz CPU, running Windows XP Pro w/SP2, with a Sound Blaster Li've Value CT4780 that has a standard gameport on it. I can calibrate the gamepad within Windows XP and it appears to be working fine (my MIDI keyboard works fine as well, it uses the gameport of the sound card too). In a DOS shell (as well as under DOSBox), the gamepad isn't recognized at all. I tried several DOS games (e.g. DOOM/Duke 3D/Death Rally/Stargunner/etc...), as well as a little QBasic joystick tester that I had whipped together years ago... no dice, the gamepad isn't recognized under DOS (or DOSBox); even though in Windows XP (in the 'Game Controllers' applet in the control panel) it works just fine. Windows games work fine with the gamepad, but nada in a DOS shell or DOSBox. Note that I had never previously checked if the gameport and/or joysticks were working on this PC under DOS, I just discovered it the other day. Any ideas? Any help would be much appreciated (edit) P.S. One thing that I just tried: I booted from a flash dri've to W98 DOS and loaded the SBLi've DOS drivers. The gameport/gamepad works fine like this (with my JoyTest utility, as well as the gameport being reported in MSD). So, I'm sure that the gameport and gamepad is woking under nati've DOS, it simply isn't recognized in a DOS shell under Windows XP. ('nuther edit) In Windows' device manager, the gameport is listed as 'Creative Game Port', with I/O address of DF08-DF0F. The 'Use automatic settings' checkbox and 'Change setting' button is grayed out, so's I can't piddle with those settings. In the old(er) DOS/W9x days (with standard non-PNP hardware) the standard gameport address was (what was it's) 200 (maybe 20?). Could this be the problem, that the Creative Game Port I/O address is set for an obscure address (that I can't seem to change)? Maybe there is a way to change it to a standard setting? 7

thank you very much

• Audigy 4 Analog-Mix - Recording independ

hi folks!
I hope you can understand my english, 'cause I'm german!
my problem:
I need the "analog mix" (line-in) from my audigy 4 to record sounds from a radio station. I'm using the Creative "Smart Recorder" from the "Creative Media Source Go"-software-package. When ever I'm choosing "analog mix" as recording-source, my card records everything going out & coming in by this card. When I'm starting a game or watching a movie while recording from "ANALOG MIX" (=LINE IN), my card records both, the line in - signal and the sound that is played by the movie or by a game f.e.
Also: when I open the volume control (play-back, not recordinig) and turn the slider for "analog mix"-loudness to zero, the card doesn't record any signal any more. That means, the playback and recording aren't independent. But I need this function because I want to use my PC "normaly" when recording from the line in.
What I am doing wrong? Message Edited by snoop on 02-23-200604:2 AM
Message Edited by snoop on 02-23-200604:22 AM

Hhm I can't understand that!
There is also a "what you heare" available as the record-source. That thing records everything (incoming and outgoing).
With every (simple) onboard-Soundcard I used I could record from the line-in while playing something other to the line-out and all was idenpently. Also I could turn the playback-volume (from the line-in) to zero while the record-volume is still at the position it's needed for recording and it worked.
I've bought the Audigy 4 some weeks ago to get a better Input-Signal (and it's even very better), but I didn't know that I wont be able to record and playback at the same time. That's a pity
Only the Mic-In can be recorded this way but I can't use the Mic-In for my Radio-Signals because it's too strong.Message Edited by snoop on 02-23-200604:23 AM

• Audigy 4 Pro microphone problems in Win 7 64-bit

Hi there,
Since I put my Audigy 4 Pro card into my newer PC with Win 7 64-bit the microphone only seems to work when it wants to, or works but sounds messed up.
I've waited a while before posting about this because I thought the newer drivers would sort out the problem, but it remains the same.
The card/microphone works without a problem if I put it in a PC with Win XP.
Sometimes the microphone will not pick up any sound at all. Other times it will work, but only for? game, say Heroes of Newerth. Then in Windows using teamspeak, people describe the sound like I'm talking through a fan. Tried using the in-game VOIP but I get the same result.
After a restart or just some random day, people in Heroes of Newerth would discribe the VOIP from my side as if I was talking under water(or through a fan), but then it would work fine for teamspeak or Bad Company 2 or any other game. I used these 2 games as an example since its what I'm playing mostly at the moment.
There doesnt seem to be any consistancy with the problem.
I have recently removed the sound card from my PC and now forced to use the onboard sound that reminds me of the sound of a clockradio.
My PC specs are:
Asus Rampage Formula Motherboard
Intel Core 2 Duo 3.0GHz E8400
8GB RAM
4 x WD Raptor HDD Stripe RAID
ATi Radeon 4870 52MB
Sound Blaster Audigy 4 Pro?(model number shown?is SB0290)
Using?a Sennheiser PC350 Headset.
What I have tried my side so far:
Tried latest and older drivers for Win 7 64-bit
Reinstalled Windows 7 several times with different drivers.
Tried disabling all devices except for line/mic
Tried other input devices.
Tried with different audio and sound codecs, tried without any.
Might have been or 2 other things I tried I cannot think of now.
Is there anyone that experienced similar problems and got it fixed? Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Bill,
Can you be more specific about which steps were not recorded?
There some things that will not be recorded. The release notes list some known issues.
Known Issues:
Tutorial Builder can only capture actions in Photoshop that are recorded by the ScriptListener plug-in.  While this includes most of Photoshop's functionality, some features/tools are not recorded.  In particular, brushing actions are not captured.  We hope to address this in future releases of Tutorial Builder.
Some of the the actions that Tutorial Builder captures are not yet instrumented to produce detailed text instructions in the final tutorial.  For such actions, the generated tutorial will include a step that says "The (action name) is not yet supported by Tutorial Builder," and the tutorial author will have to edit the HTML to provide more descriptive text.  Note that the "Show me in Photoshop" link is still generated for such actions.
Some Photoshop actions allow the user to specify a set of parameters in multiple ways, but Tutorial Builder cannot detect how the user specified those settings during the recorded demonstration.  Thus, the text in the generated tutorial may not describe exactly what was demonstrated.  For example, in the Image > Adjustments > Levels tool dialog box, you can update the parameters using three different eye droppers.  Since Tutorial Builder does not know which (if any) of these eye droppers were used, the text for a Levels adjustment does not describe exactly how the settings are specified.  Again, the tutorial author can simply edit the HTML to provide a more accurate description.
Thanks!

• Audigy 4 mic having problems in Vista

Ok, so I have Vista Ultimate 64 bit addtion and an Audigy 4 sound card. The sound sounds great but my mic is very wishy washy when using the card. I downloaded their latest drivers and have even resulted to other types of drivers but no matter what it has the same problem or the problem is only improved slightly. Basically, when I first start the PC the mic usually doesn't work, but then randomly out of no where it will start working after awhile, but the thing is is that it will either work or it will be EXTREMELY crackily, however, even if it does work it eventually just ends up not working anyway. So basically it is really crackily and annoying or doesn't work half the time. Any help would be much appreciated.

Are you running some version of Office 2003 or 2007? On some machines no matter what operating system, certain versions of Office turn on the microphone because of an "invisible always running tray applet". A friend of mine bought a Dell laptop in 2003 that was brand new. After a few days, random gibberish would pop up on his screen in every place you could type text. We then determined that Dell's default setup always had voice recognition software always calibrating itself. Some Dell laptops even had Dragon Naturally Speaking on them with the bundle and that program was fighting with the MS Office voice/systray applet.
Cheers

• Inspire TD7700 and Audigy 4 Pro connection problem

I have a problem connecting the speaker system Inspire TD7700 with the soundcard SoundBlaster Audigy 4 Pro. The soundcard has a hub that is placed outside the computer, and it is connected to the soundcard inside the computer via two AD_LINK inputs/outputs. The soundcard is also connected to the switch (that was included in the speaker system), in front of the switch (where it says "from pc, input"). The front of the switch is also connected to the sub via something called "To speaker, Output". It is connected to the sub via the audio inputs. The back of the switch is connected to the decoder (DDTS-100, included in the speaker system). The input of the decoder I have used is called "Audio Outputs". The switch is set to "PC - Audio". Both the sub and the decoder is connected to a power supply unit.
My problem is that I can't hear a thing trough the speakers. I can hear sound trough my headphones when I connect the headphones to the sound hub (included with the soundcard). But when I connect my headphones to the decoder, I can't hear a thing.
Can somebody please help me, I really want my new speaker system to work..
Thank you in advance!
Mathias

Just click on the one you want to use, and then click on "Set Default", and then you can use it. Here's a hint for you, you do that and your current default (Line-in 3) will become "Currently unavailable". Vista only allows one input and one output device to be acti've at a time, hence why they all say unavailable.

• Analog trunk problem

I have an analog trunk plugged into a 2811 with a VIC2-4FXO. When the line is in use, if a call comes in on it, the caller hears one ring, then a busy signal (not just a busy signal). What would be causing this? It happens to be the last line in a hunt group that is set at the CO to forward on busy to another hunt group, but the forward isn't happening, probably because of that first ringback.

Likely the problem is not due to the router. If you do "debug vpm signal" you will see the incoming ring and port going off-hook. You should see that for engaged ports, no new call is presented, and is the router does nothing in generating ringback, as you said the line is busy already when the call comes in.
hope this helps, please rate post if it does!

• Samplitude 2496 and Audigy 4 sound card problem any suggestions please

Hello
I have a problem. I have installed Audigy 4. All looks good. I am editing music in a software called Samplitude 2496. But I simply cannot playback. I beleive Samplitude needs ASIO support to be able to playback. A window pops up when ever I try to playback saying
"Cannot open waveform output device 'SB Audigy 4[D800]'!
"The specified format is not support or cannot be translated. Use the capabilities function to determine the supported format".
I cannot find any ASIO in my system yet Audigy 4 says it has ASIO2 support. Does this mean Audigy software has the ASIO or does this mean I need to download the ASIO for the Samplitude playback.
Any suggestions most welcome urgently.
Thank you Philip

If you have installed Creative bundled drivers for your card, ASIO drivers are installed already. Check on Samplitude Audio settings, if you see those drivers listed there -> NOTE:! you need to select ASIO 24/96 driver for 24/96 data. AFAIK, other (two) CT ASIO drivers supports 6/48 only (least this is the situation w/ Audigy 2).
You can find more information on ASIO @

• NI DualPoint Analog Module Problems

I have been unsuccessful in making NI's 778069-08 (Analog Input) and 778070-06 (Analog Output) modules work in my FP-TB-10 bases. They physically don't plug in easily, and when they finally fit, are not seen as analog modules, in MAX - they are seen as digital!
I have ordered Grayhill 73L-IV10's and 73L-OV10's, and they fit and work perfectly, every time (and MAX sees them as analog!)
My local rep sent the modules back to Austin, and they couldn't find anything wrong with them...they are now saying there's an issue with the TB-10 bases.
I'm guessing that NI's got the modules labeled wrong, or Grayhill slid the wrong PC boards into the modules they made for NI before they epoxied them shut.
Anyone else have any experiences with this?
Mike

Like Chris , I also Just wanted to add my experiences for the benefit of others.
I had a similar problem, and desolved it exactly like Cheris.
But I still have an Undissolve issue with FP-AI-V100m dualpoint in FP-2015 system.
My system works 24/365 (non-stop), somtime for monthes with no problems. Then I find that the FP-2015 is not working, and all it's leds are off, although the power supplay is OK (24vdc). After a power reset the system will continue working fine for some days/hours, but then it will fell down again, and so on..
I replaced the TB-10 (type D), the FP-2015, the Power supplay, but the issue have not "stop" until I replaced the PF-AI-V100m. Not really stop, but give me some more monthes of silence.
I test the voltage of the Oxygen sensor (only 1 is connected to that DualPoint), and it is in the range ot 0-100mv.
I replaced the FP-AI-V100m already twice, the "bad" DualPoint caused the same problem when it is connected to a different Controler.
I have a second system, with a same configuration, and have no problems their ..
After more than a year of problems, reading also other's problems in this forum,
I'm changing sensors and TB-10 to FP-AI-110, with a hope that it will be more stable.
My configuration is:
FP-2015, TB-10 (FP-RTD-PT100 in slot 1, FP-AI-v100m in slot 2), FP-DI-301, FP-DO-420 *2 modules.
I use 2 24vdc power suppliers, each with 2 separate V.out for the different modules.
Try to take over the world!

• Audigy 2 ZS Microphone problems & SBA2_PCWDRV_LB_1_84_55-R1 patch FAO Jerem

Jeremy - Creative's Audigy 2 ZS card DOES NOT appear to work properly with a selection of both basic and more expensi've microphones. There is some pick up of sound but at a very low level making most chat and telephony software useless. I have had this problem from Day with your card in an expensi've top of the line DELL desktop. DELL engineers who man a dedicated line for the particular machine I purchased have not been able to explain or resolve the issue - even on-site. I can't see any post from you or your team that addresses this satisfactorily. DELL have replaced the sound card to no avail which rules out a specific faulty card, the XP pro OS has been re-installed etc and please, please - yes, the sound level is up full and the 20dB boost has been applied etc etc etc. Having spoken to DELL, it would seem that there is a growing body of complaints from customers about this issue. I suppose , if not already, your may have these referred to your company as the OEM supplier. Finally, like many others, your 2th May driver patch won't load. Again, I guess you know what the error message says by now. Again, I see no solution to this one. I would be grateful if you can spell out how to resolve the mic issue. What do you suggest ? Regards,

Yeah, I have this prblem too. I went to the automatic update page & it showed a bunch of updates. I ran the 0303.exe update which is required for _84_55-R.exe. Rebooted the system, reran auto updates, and no updates showed up. Downloaded the file manually & when I ran it, install said it couldn't find an audigy card!! What the heck is going on here?
Also, does anyone a good method for installing this card on XP? I have tried installing it with SP & then running SP2. Each gives a different install. If you install the card with SP and then update to SP2, you get a remote icon in the system tray. If you install the card after SP2, there is no remote center available; but you get a play center icon in the quick launch area. Why do you get a different install depending on the XP service pack?

• Audigy 2 ZS Freezing problem..Help!!!

hi guys,
I just purchased Audigy 2 ZS. I have updated all the drivers (but not yet for the applications).
My problem is every time I run the speaker calibration, speaker settings, or feature demo (EAX), the computer just freeze and the speakers have steady screeching sounds in the middle of the test. Even sometimes when I played musics, the computer will freeze and I need to cut off the power supply. It never happened before ( I used sound blaster li've!)
Currently, Im using windows XP Proffesional.
Anyone have the solution ?
I really need the help since I must decide if this is the computer problem or defect. Thanks guys.
anyways, I love the card. but...this problem

mlist84,
Can you give me a rundown of your system specifications. Is it a Prebuilt or a homebuilt system? One thing to always try first when you are having this problem is to move the card to another PCI slot. This will change the resources the card is using and occasionally solve the problem. Also you might try a cleansweep and reinstall. Instructions for that can be found here:
