Audio Hijack and PowerBook or MacBook Pro?

Hi all..
I currently have a PowerBook Ti and a MacBook Pro on order... I'm a big user of Audio Hijack and recently I wanted to digitise my Vinyl Record Collection for a Wedding DJ gig that I'm doing in February. I read the documentation on the Audio Hijack help guide and bought the *"In most cases, you'll need a stereo mini-jack (1/8") patch cable coupled with a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter, like these from Radio Shack"* that was suggested.... but when I selected the Audio In... all I got was a microphone... so when I went to play the file... it was nothing but a recording from the mic. Do I now have to purchase Griffin iMic... or will my new MacBook Pro have a better Audio In port??
Any comments most welcome....

Firewire audio interface and drive on Macbook Pro?

Apologies if this is in a FAQ which I can't find.
I have been recording on the internal drive of my MacBook Pro up to now, with a MOTU896 (notHD) but want to buy an external drive, partly to save wear on the internal.
My last experience of this was in the days of bronze G3 swhere it was advised not to run a drive and an audio interface on the same firewire bus - in fact, I experience glitching when I tried to do this. Perhaps this is no longer an issue? I'm recording at 44.1/24 but do want to be able to record 8 simultaneous tracks.
Is it best to get an extra FW port via the slot on the side of the computer?

Audio pops and crackles on MacBook Pro

Help!!!
I have a Late 2011 15' MacBook Pro, 256gb SSD, 750gb (7200) and 16gb RAM. When listening back to music after about 30 seconds to a minute the sound starts to randomly pop and crackle. I've go to find a fix for this.
I am running 10.8.4. I have already reinstalled Mountain Lion, reset the SMC and reset the PRAM. Nothing seems to work.
It doesn't seem to be a hard drive issue as it happens on any hard drive I'm playing from.
I haven't heard it using the onboard speakers. I've only heard it so far with my external speakers connected through USB. This makes me think it could be a USB problem.
Does anybody have any other suggestions? I'm going mad!!

I think I figured it out. I found a firmware update for my audio interface (REM - Babyface) and so far so good.

That was excessively complicated, and NOT how you import CD's into iTunes. I have imported nearly 1000 CD's into iTunes and never once, not once, have I fulled around with folders. That is done in preferences. That's not how iTunes works. William needs to post his question to the iTunes for Mac forum, where much easier solutions will be provided.

Buying Opinion - Upgrade Powerbook vs MacBook Pro

I'm thinking I may try to upgrade my laptop as my main objective is to get CS4 right now but I have a friend who is selling his MacBook Pro for $900. What's your opinion as you would know better what Macs can handle? My main problem is speed especially with CS programs and I do need a new battery. I have a PowerPC G5 Dual with a large glossy screen for my most intense work that I can do from home. But I like to have a laptop that I can take on the road for working on projects. It's mostly for Photoshop/Illustrator/InDesign. So no animation or gaming purposes.

It includes OSX 10.6 Snow Leopard, iLife 09, and iWork 09, all part of the "Mac Box Set," so this is all legal software.

The condition of the system is excellent with one minor exception - there seems to be a very slight bend in the casing underneath the expresscard slot. One of my photos shows it.
Do you think it's doable with what I have (and what could I do?) or should I go with the newer MacBook and save myself the headache? What's the main difference with the computers?

You can get a brand new MacBook for $999 so don't bother with the used one. For the price difference, save up and buy new MacBook Pro for $1199. Faster than Macbook. Shop around. Everyone is discounting. You might get free ram upgrades (unless you're getting free ram, buy separately and install yourself), free shipping. Try Epercom, CDW and Small Dog in addition to Apple. If you go to Apple store don't be shy about asking for a 10% business discount. I asked and got one for my imac last summer.
He's offering it at $900...does that seem like a fair price for what I'd get?

Check to see that external video is turned on.
View > External Video > All Frames. and
View > Video Playback > Apple Firewire PAL/NTSC.

I learned that the Dock is positioned at the chosen edge of whatever Display is positioned farthest to that side. E.g. for the Dock to be positioned on the right side of the Cinema Display (instead of the right side of the MacBook), the Cinema Display must be oriented (by dragging) to the right of the MacBook monitor on the "Arrangement" tab of the Displays Preference Panel.

I was messing around with .kext files in the MacintoshHD and now my MacBook Pro won't start up.

I was messing around with .kext files in the MacintoshHD and moved the system.kext and two others to my desktop and deleted the originals and now the MacBook Pro won't start up. All I get at start up is the apple icon then a bunch of text shows up part of which says Mac OS version: not yet set. then the apple icon turns into the power icon and tells me to turn off the computer. I've tried reinstalling from the install DVD by holding down option when powering on and selecting the install DVD and it just goes to a white screen with the apple icon and stays like that. I didn't have the disk utility on my Mac before this happened because I deleted it to make room on my computer a while ago so I'm not sure if that's why it won't load the install DVD but anyone who knows the solution to this with out going to get it repaired would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Never mind my dad just found the original install DVD and that worked. Before I was using an install disc that Apple sent me for another issue I was having, but thanks for replying so quickly and trying to help on this Thanksgiving day!!!
