Automatic refresh of KM navigation iview?

I need to get a KM navigation iview showing company news to refresh at regular intervals. How would I best get this done?
I have tried to find a previous thread that describes this (as it would be a common need, i guess) but all threads seem to be regarding programming own iviews, not using regular KM navigation iview.

Hi,
You have defined a layout set for the KM Navigation iview. Look at that in the <i>System Config -> Content Management -> User interface -> Settings -> Layout set</i> and you should see some TreeCollectionRenderer defined for it. Navigate to that and change the <b>Initial displayed tree level</b> pararmeter to suit your needs.

Auto refresh/reload of content in km navigation iview?

We are using loads of km navigation iviews to show content from km folders or taxonomy folders. Some of these are placed on the portals front page (company news for example). Since many of our employees log into our portal in the morning and then keeps it in the background during the day without refreshing the page, they miss out on new items in these iviews. This could also apply to display screens in our factories.
Does anyone have a solution as to how make these iviews refresh at certain intervals?

UWL: No automatic refresh after completing workitem in iView

Hi,
our system is EP 6 SP2 P4 HF 7 with CM HF 6.
We have configured a workitem launched by an individual iview - this works fine.
For execution of this workitem we call SAP_WAPI_CREATE_EVENT and save values in simple_container. After this SWW_WI_ADMIN_COMPLETE is called to complete the workitem to be cleared from UWL inbox.
If I refresh the tab manual all works fine - the completed workitem is not more there. But with automatic refresh this executed workitem is still listed.
Do you have any idea what we are doing wrong?

Hi Ross,
concerning our problem (no WI completion by auto refreshing UWL) we have yet no solution. SAP Support told us to configure the cache lifetime of UWL to smaller size, but alas this does not solve the problem.
As you mentioned the blank webgui screen: I think this behaviour is by design. Calling an ITS transaction there's no other way to end the ITS session as of using the back or return button and get an end of session. The given status (WI new status: completed) indicates that UWL and ITS process the WI correct.
A smarter way to execute the concerning WI ID is to configure it in the xml file as generic decision task. Then you'll get an inline rendered java iview with decision "accept" or "decline" and the new status will be shown in UWL. This will take place of (standard) ITS configuration. Please have a look at the HowTo Guide of UWL.

Need to Download documents from Km which are shown thru Navigation iview

HI,
I have created a KM navigation Iview and gave the path of documents which are stored in KM.
Now the documents are in KM and can be shown by this iview.
When i click on any document, it is getting opened automatically.
But i dont want this way, when the user clicks on document a pop-up should be given to download the document.
can i know how is it possible?
Also just beside the document, when i click on breadcrumb i can see many options like save, copy, rename....etc.
where i dont what to shown this all options beside documents.
Can you please tell me how to remove this breadcrumb for some particular documents.

Hello, you can achieve this creating a custom layout set. To do so, go to
System Administration > System Configuration > Knowledge Management > Content Management > User Interface > Settings > Layout Set
Choose a layout set - Consumer Explorer for example - check it and select Advanced Copy
Under Scope of Duplication leave only Collection Renderer Settings checked
Under Naming Conventions fill the blanks as your needs (I usually add company name as prefix)
Click on Execute, your layout set is now created.
Search for it and click to display its properties, there you'll find the four main items that compose a LayoutSet:
- Layout Controller
- Collection Renderer
- Resource Renderer
- Commands for Details Menu
You wanna work on the Collection Renderer, notice it's a custom one created during the copy. Select it to edit to chage settings.
Put the following entry under Displayed Properties:
rnd:icon,rnd:displayname(contentLink),rnd:command(command=download/style=icon),contentlength,modified
Save.
On your KM Navigation iView set the Layout Set property with this one you've just created.
This should do the basics you're asking:
- a link to download the documents
- no context menu with undesired commands
In this scenario I've eliminated complety the context menu, if you want to have the menu with just
some options you must work on UI Commands and UI Commands Group, which I suggest doing after
you have basics knowledge on layout sets only..
You can find on SDN lots of documents and threads about KM User Interface, have a special look into Layout Set, Collection Renderers and UI Commands/Groups

KM Navigation iview not showing contents

Hi,
I am using the KM Navigation iview to show contents in the desktop innerpage below detailed Navigation.When the propert 'height type = Automatic' its not showing any content its showing a single white line.But when i change the 'hieght type= Fixed ' then i could able to see the content with the scroll bar.I know i can change the height,but i cant do it each and everytime when i add the content to the location in KM.
I need the property to be Automatic.
Can anybody provide some help on this issue?

In all the roles Portal Favorites Ivew is displaying twice in the detailed navigation iview. And the options in the Iview are different like details, refresh, Open a new window....
I have only one default framework assigned to my desktop....
I cldnot trace out which is causing this issue...

How to prevent an automatic refresh of a dashboard

Hi,
Currently OBIEE automatically refreshes all reports of a dashboard once it's selected. This often causes a heavy load on our databases. The question is: how can I prevent an automatic refresh? I only want the dashboard to be refreshed once I click on the "Go" button of the dashboard prompt!

Hi Eric,
In the dashboard, better create a landing page. In this landing page just add the dashboard object (link or image).
Once this is configured, user have an option to navigate to the report through link.
Even we can configure the common prompts/ global prompts at the front (Landing page) with the note to the user on navigation.
By this way, you can have the control of dashboard refresh.

Automatic Height Type on Portal Iviews

Hi
   We are developing a new look and feel for the company enterprise portal and we are facing a problem regarding automatic height off the content area and respective IViews.
Our Portal page should automatic adjust to the current page content. To achiev this we are using automatic height on Innerpage Page and respective Iviews.
          The problem is on almost every Portal IView the height value of the contentarea is incorrect. For example the KM Navigation IView shows up with 50px making it impossible to work with.
This problem seems to only happen when there are a iframes inside the content area iframe.
The height value returns a wrong value probably because it does not know the respective iframes height values:
Take this example:
Content Area Iframe
div with 20px
div with 40px
iframe
The result would be similar to a content area iframe of height 61px or so.
I suspect the error is in one of the following javascript's.
    - application pagebuilder - pagesupport.js    pagesupport.getHeight
    - application contentarea - workarea.js          workarea.resize
We are on 7.0.1 SP08
P.S The domains of all iframes are the same as they are all PRT IViews

We also faced same issue last year. In our cases, all iviews were custom PRT iviews so We used embedded iview option to get rid of iframe and hight issue. using embedded over iframe gave us performance improvment as well during our load test.

Automatic Refresh of Purchase Order Worklist (POWL) needed

Hi,
We are running SRM6.0 on EP7 SP14 Portal.
After saving (hold) a newly-created shopping cart, the user must manually click "Refresh" to see the new shopping cart inside the Purchase Order Worklist (POWL). Most casual users do not anicipate needing to do this Refresh. They don't see the new cart, and they many times create a second duplicate cart.
Shopping carts are created in a popup window above the POWL, and apparently there is no communcation back to the POWL to automatically refresh upon adding a new shopping cart.
Is there a way to configure/change SRM6.0 such that it automatically invokes the POWL Refresh action after create a shopping cart?

Just try this
A. IF You have launched the shopping card POP-up from the WD which embeds POWL using POWL_FOLLOW_UP
1 Add a public attribute in the component controller l_refresh_needed.
2 When you create a shopping cart in pop-up you set the flag
l_refresh_needed = abap_true.
3 Now you must be having an outbound plug to POWL let's say plug1 from your WD view. You write a code in DOMODIFYView or DOAFTERACTION of the view which has the outbound plg.
You need to check the flag l_refresh_needed and fire the same navigation plug plug1 to POWL with refreshq = 'X'.
B. If you have launched the POP-up from the detail component of the POWL,
then you must fire the event do_refresh which you get when you implement POWL_DETAIL_COMP_IF.
but before firing do_refresh you have to clear the messages from the message manager and after refresh trigger you can again put the messages back into the message manager of WD.

Pass parameter from dynamic navigation iView to WebDynpro iView

I know there are a lot of threads dealing with passing paramters from EP to WebDynpro using EPCM but actually I didn´t find a solution for my problem.
I have in the dynamic navigation area of the SAP Portal an iView based on a JSP dynpage. In the corresponding JSP I fire an EPCM-event:
EPCM.raiseEvent("urn:test.de:wochenb" , "passDataToWebDynpro" , evtData);
In the content area there is a WebDynpro iView. In this WebDynpro-application I subscribe to the event in the wdDoInit-method of a view:
WDPortalEventing.subscribe("urn:test.de:wochenb" , "passDataToWebDynpro" ,wdThis.wdGetDataFromJSPDynpageAction());
and I have an event-handler:
public void onActionDataFromJSPDynpage(com.sap.tc.webdynpro.progmodel.api.IWDCustomEvent wdEvent, java.lang.String dataObject )

As info: the domain of the J2EE-Server the webdynpro-application is deployed to is identical to the J2EE-Server the portal runs on.

Hi All,
I found the solution by myself.
For information: Click in the dynamic navigation fires the event und forces the content afterwards to refresh. During the refresh the WebDynpro subscribes to the event in the wdDoInit-Method. This is to late because the event is fired before the refresh.
My solution is to use a setTimeout before the event-triggering in the dynamic navigation iView.

But, when I click on the file links in KM Navigation iView, it is opening in new window.Here I need to open in same window. How can I acheive this?. Please help me.

How to use quick link property in the km navigation iview

Hi all
I have requirement.
T structured lables
one on top and rest 12 at the bottem in 3 columns, 4 rows.
when i click the lable it should connect to a respective folder in the KM
this entire page have to be connected to a folder link...ie when i click this folder link this page with T structured lables have to come and when i click each lable respective folders should open...
so for that i have created one KM Document iview(this is like heading in the page) and 12 KM Navigation iviews(pointing to respective folders)
after that which layout will be suitable for this in page layout???
if i add all iviews into a one single page
how to connect lables to folder???
one of my friend have suggested to use '"quicklink'" property along with html page...???

I have done with HTML page and attached to Km document iview.and i have my 12 Km navigation i views.
Then create static Links on HTML page to navigate to other iviews. It can be created by using the Insert link in Km tool of the html editor available in Km. For opening a url iview from a link you can write this for executing the 'donavigate method' to open the iview you needed.???

Search iView instead of KM Navigation iView

Hi,
the guide "How To... Tune the Performance of Knowledge Management" recommends to use Search iViews instead of KM Navigation iViews for performance reasons.
Can someone please explain how to configure these iViews? The Search iViews we use provide an input field which we don't need in this case. How can a search string be submitted, so that a Search iView directly displays the content of a folder as search result? Is there any documentation available?

There you find a sample how to start the search iView with a direct result list, by adding "QueryString=*" to the query parameter for the iview.

How to hide the folder name in a KM Navigation Iview

I am using a KM Navigation Iview with LinkListExplorer Layout set. The Folder Name appears at the top of the collection.
Please can someone tell me how I can hide the folder name for the iview. i.e I do not want the folder name to appear in the iview.

Folder name is located in the breadcrumb
remove your breadcrumb in your collectionrenderer of the layout set you are using.
Check the layout set you are using in your KM navigational iview.
