  • HT1349 I just purchased  new PC with windows 8.1 and downloaded Itunes, but when I try to add my Music Library from the back up dvd's I created off my old computer it doesn't automatically start the back up process like it did before. How can I "restore"

I just purchased a new PC with windows 8.1 and downloaded new itunes, but when I try to "restore" my music library from the DVDS i made from my old pc it doesn't automatically restore my library as it used to.  How do I restore my music library from DVDS?

Thanks but I already did read all of the help notes, which aren't very helpful for this.  I did find out the problem- Apple.....they evidently changed one of the major upsides to their old software- being able to back up your entire library onto dvd's- so you can longer do that or restore from the dvds created from older versions of itunes.  I suspect greed is at play in that Apple now wants you to pay $24.95 per year to use a "cloud" service where they back it up for you.  I can buy a lifetime supply of back up dvds for one year's worth of cloud.  So I am now looking into other music software as I am Appled-out.  There is no reason for them to take away the back up portion of the software other than to sell you thrir cloud service.  As we have already given them a ton of money for 5 Ipods and a bunch of music, I think we have contributed enough.  Time to look to solutions outside of the Apple money tree.  But thank you for reading and replying.

  • DVD freeze when play back on  dvd player

    Hello,
I create a DVD with DVD SP 3.01, When I play back the dvd in 3 brand of dvd player it freeze after 12 min of playback for about 2 sec and after continue to play to go to an other freeze about 10 to 12 min after. It does that in dvd with 25 min and more. If I do a small dvd of 10 min I see no freeze. I ckeck the MPEG2 file made by FCP and there is no freeze inside of it. I also put the QT directly in DVD sp ( encode it before burn ) and I have the same problem. Any idea...
    thanks

It may be the brand of disc. Try Verbatim DVD-R or Verbatim DVD+R DL.

  • M200: Lost Back Up DVD - How to install the OS?

I have a M200 and have lost the back up DVD.
My windows are messed up, what's the best way to get it going again without the back up DvD, or where can I have a copy of the DVD.Thanks.

You can install OS using Microsoft full version CD but, believe me, it is very complicated because there are a lot of different drivers, tools and utilities that must be installed. In my opinion it is much better to order recovery CD.
The installation is very simply and takes not a lot of time. You can order it by Authorized service partner and you can find them under http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/su/su_gaspLocator.jsp?pf=true
    Good luck!

    4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect To iTune" screen
    5. Release the Home button

can any body tell me in simple step by step terms how to import my music off a back up dvd i had done prior to getting a bigger capacity hard drive fitted to my computer
(so i can see it and use it in i-tunes)

    Colin,
my northern soul music has copied over into i-tunes ok but its all in individual songs not albums
I'm not sure that I'm clear on your current situation.
    Do you mean the
    i iTunes Music
folder viewed via Windows Explorer shows the songs individually and not in Album folders?
If that's the case can you tell us whether or not
b Keep iTunes Music folder organized

    Thanks.

I use Verbatim DVD+R DL with perfect success.
I would start with a R/W DVD and just burn a test file or two.
One reason I use Toast is exactly what you experienced. Finder/DU burning usually works OK.
The key word there is usually.
I have never had a problem with Toast Titanium.
If you google with your error you get all kinds of issues/solutions.
One says that using an external drive worked but the internal did not.
    I think it's a Catch-22 error.
There are also some settings that determine disk speed, write speed, etc. stored somewhere.
You can try the next step which is to use the disk utility directly. Open DU and click on the optical drive. From there you should be able to select the image you have and burn it.
If that fails, consider Toast, as I did. I have not used the DU/Finder burner since I got Toast.

  • Need advice on encode settings for Premiere file to be played back on DVD

Hi - hoping someone can help me with my encoding settings.  I seem to be on the right track because everything looks good until you play the video on DVD.
I use Windows Movie Maker to encode my exports to DVD.  This software does not accept MP4 but it seems to accept a variety of other files and one is WMV.  I first exported a WMV clip from Premiere at 1920x1080 (the raw video and graphics are also in that size).  Then I exported another WMV clip to 1280x720.  I just wanted to see what both of them look like on a DVD during play back.
    Here are the export settings:
Here is what the1280 WMV looks like when it's played back on my desktop computer in Windows Media player.  As you'll see everything looks very clean:
I then imported the 2 WMV clips into Windows Movie Maker, selected the 16:9 settings, and it encoded them into a finished DVD.  I then played the DVD back on my 50 inch TV in my living room.  Below you'll see a photo I took of the 1920 clip; notice how the text looks jagged:
Then the photo below of the 1280 clip looks much cleaner.
But obviously I'd like for the finished DVDs to look if possible even cleaner than the 1280 photo above - hopefully like it looks in the photo of the WMV playing back on my computer.  These videos will be distributed to different local offices.
Are my WMV settings correct?  Should I export to other than WMV? How can I improve on the 1280 DVD photo above so everything looks even cleaner (if possible)?  I have Adobe Encore - should I use that instead of Movie Maker?
    Any help is appreciated.  Thanks.

A DVD is 720x480 so anything larger must be scaled down to be legal according to the DVD specification

  • Can I put a DVD+R/W Recording into iMovie.. then back to DVD?

    Hi all,
New to Macs and must admit I'm asking this question without really trawling through the help manuals at all... but...
If I make a recording to a DVD+R/W from my home DVD player, can I then import that recording to iMovie, edit it it and send it back to iDVD to re-burn it? My Phillips DVD Recorder makes a decent fist of editing a recording but obviously iMovie and iDVD offer greater creativity and flexibility...
Any help or advice would be appreciated... cheers!!
    Luke

your disks have to be finalized - read your ecorders manual, how to accomplish that
if your Mac's drive support +/w media (it should...), handle them as "normale" DVDs...
    * DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    * Apple mpeg2 plugin (29$) + Streamclip (free)
    * Cinematize >60$
    * Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
    * Toast 6/7 allows converting to dv/insert dvd, hit apple-k
    * connect a miniDV Camcorder with analogue input to a DVD-player and transfer disk to tape/use as converter
non of these apps override copyprotection mechanisms as on commercial dvds...

  • Not playing back in DVD player

    Hello all,
I made a DVD in DVD Studio Pro, and it played back perfectly in the DVD player on my mac. Then I went to play it in 2 other DVD players, and it wouldn't recognize the media. I also couldn't play it on a PC player. I have no idea why. Any input is greatly appreciated.

You can find your files by looking at it's rendering list. There will be a little magnifying glass next to the file name, click on it and the browser will open revealing the file for you.
Actually DVD SP makes fine HD DVDs, you just can't play them much of anywhere. Compressor will make Blu-Ray DVDs in a couple of different ways, some of which are very limited but will work. You can get more extensive menuing by creating the Blu-Ray media in Compressor and using Encore, if you have it, to author the disc. But these methods are not as comprehensive as many of the other applications out there for BR authoring.

  • Backing up DVD install software to my HD?

i just had to install iWork '09 due to some issue i am having in yosemite with pages and i am realizing i have fewer and fewer install DVD's while most of my install software is on my hard drive or on App Store.
is there a way to back up these install DVD's to my Hard Drive so i don't have to worry about the disk getting corrupted or otherwise have all this material in various places?
    thanks in advance

    woah! thanks.
so i will read up on this but can i basically do this for any DVD that i have including OS X install DVD's or Windows install DVD's (or i guess this one would be dumb and i should do the equivalent in windows if i want)?
do you like the idea of backing these up as dmg?
will they re-install if i have to like all the other dmg backups i have??
    THANKS

  • When making back up dvds, which do I choose?

Aa I make back-up CDs or DVDs of my favorite images, does it matter if I make them large JPEGs, Tiffs or...?  Not sure I understand the advantages or disadvantages of the options.  thanks.

I'd make backups of whatever files you have on your hard drive, without doing any sort of export. The originals you shot and then imported into Ligthroom, whether RAW, DNG or JPEG, are going to be the highest possible quality.
In general terms, though, TIFFs are higher quality (they have lossless compressions, meaning that they are the exact same - pixel for pixel - as the original. As a result, though, they tend to have a much larger file size. JPEGs are compressed (the program saving to JPEG might degrade the quality just a bit - or a lot - to make the file size significantly smaller).
So, if you want to keep the highest-possible quality and don't care much about file size, go with TIFF. If you need to keep file size down and don't mind sacrificing just a bit of quality, go with JPEG.
Hope that helps - if you have any other follow-up questions let us know.
