Backup assistant website locks up

Backup assistant website locks up. I can not do anything with my account. I want to clear the storage and print my contacts. No joy. Internal server fault. Two days of that.

We're here to assist and provide resolution to your issue.  There are no issues being reported with the website at this time.  Are you able to try from another browser or computer to access backup assistant?  You can also clear the cache and history from your current browser. Please share if this helps.

  • Backup Assistant Website Down?

    I've been trying to access the Backup Assistant website for the last several days to restore a media file and a contact from the backup (which is working from our phones), but when I sign into the website it hangs on the spinning swirl screen (Please Wait a Few Moments while we process your request) and never gets anywhere.  Is the site down?  Am I alone?  The same thing happens when we sign in for different accounts from different computers and different browsers.  Any guidance is appreciated.

Have you tried accessing Backup Assistant via your My Verizon account versus going directly to the website? Have you tried to restore the media file and contact on the phone?

  • Backup Assistant Website

    I am unable to get into the website to view and edit my contacts, vzw.com\backupassistant.  All I get is the how to screen and when I click Continue, I get "oops".  Is the website down?

    Backup Assistant has been having serious technical issues with its web interface and other features (such as syncing and updating contacts from the web) for over a month now, if not longer.  I would strongly reccomend against using this product.  Users here have reported that a BA malfunction can result in the loss of all the contacts on your phone, with no real way to get them back.  Verizon's technical support is essentially useless, they have no fix and no timeline.
    I STRONGLY urge you to find another way to back-up your contacts and to discontinue use of this "feature" that Verizon has decided to provide no real support for in spite of the fact that they reccomend everyone use it and include it by default on many of their phones.
    What type of phone do you have?  Perhaps someone can suggest a good alternative solution for you.

  • What happened to the Backup Assistant website?

    A few days ago it was working, and I was able to download all my contacts as a .csv file.  Now, when I try to go there I get redirected to a page trying to sell me ringtones or song downloads.  This happens whether I enter the url manually, using what shows on the backup assistant phone screen or when I click on the backup assistant link under Tools and Apps.

    My log of what happened:

  • Backup Assistant has lost my contacts - how do I get them back?

    About two weeks ago, I looked at the Backup Assistant Sync report, and instead of 120+ contacts there were only 4.  When I opened my contacts, there were a few there, but only with email addresses.  The contact list I had been using was accumulated over 4 phones and consisted of names and telephone numbers.
    Sure enough, the email addresses were associated with my gmail account.  I did not authorize any change to the data source to sync to.  Did Backup Assistant decide to switch to the gmail files to sync to?
    This is extremely aggravating.  I have lost 6 years worth of telephone numbers.  I don't understand why this happened.  Does my telephone contact list still exist somewhere?  How can I make sure that it syncs to the phone numbers and NOT the email addresses?

    you should still be able to access your contacts by logging in online to the backup assistant website.
    however, I strongly suggest from there that you export your contacts to a CSV file and import them to your google contacts.  Once I did that, I have not had any issues since.

  • Backup assistant lost contacts?

    I had an old LG enV phone that I had set for automatic backup.  The phone was destroyed (no longer turns on) so I temporarily used an old Motorola until my new Pantech arrived.
    I was not able to download backup assistant into the old Razr.
    When I received the new Pantech, when I started it up it asked if I would like to use backup assistant.....it now appears all my old contacts were wiped out during the change to the new service.
    Customer service basically told me I am screwed......
    Is there any way to retrieve the contacts that were in the old backup assistant (before the cloud).  I cannot believe these weren't backed up SOMEWHERE...

  • Backup Assistant, Multiple Lines...

    For some reason no matter how i log in or try to access it when i go to the backup assistant website all i get is one of our lines, and not the one that i want to manage the contacts for.
    How in the world do you select the other lines to manage their contacts as well?  There is no way to change it on the page that i can find, really annoying!
    I have been trying to work this out for a couple months now, called and emailed verizon they were no help!

    It's simple. You need to create a "My Verizon" account for each line. BA can only be viewed for the line in which you are logged in to My Verizon. One line per login.

  • Restoring from Backup Assistant Plus

    Ok, so the SD card on my Samsung Galaxy SIII decided to quit and die... erasing Gigs of pictures.  Luckily, the annoying Backup Assistant had backed up my images sometime ago, so despite losing some images, I can recover the vast majority of them (so, now I will probably go ahead and pay to use this app and upgrade).  The problem is... how does one a) restore images from cloud to the device (I only see contacts as an option) or b) and preferably, using the Backup Assistant website how do I download all of my images at once? 
    Currently, as far as I can tell from the site is that it only allows me to download the 15 images per page only.  I have over 70 pages of images (at least 1000 images) and going page to page is ridiculous.  Is there a mass-select of all backed up items I can download?  Ticking the 'Select All' checkbox selects ONLY the 15 on the page.  In the image I attached there are 2 checkboxes that indicate 'Select All', but again, they both ONLY select the 15 on the page.  Please make this easy for me Verizon.

    I found that if you download the desktop version of backup assistant and click manage folders on the top you can click on the folder with your backedup information and a restore option will appear... i hope this helps!

  • How do I get Backup Assistant to work on a Samsung SCH-u640? I can change the PIN, but I can't back-up (always says I entered the wrong PIN). This locks up the phone and is ruining the battery life!

    I can set a PIN for Backup Assistant.
    When Backup Assistant tries to run, it locks up and asks for the PIN.
    I enter the PIN, and it's rejected as incorrect.
    If I get a PIN reminder, it matches the PIN I entered!
    This is really bothersome -- I can't stop Backup Assistant from running, and it won't work properly.
    The result is the phone locks up until I manually close out of Backup Assistant.
    And the battery runs down pretty quickly.

    Yecch is right! I'm sorry to see there have been issue with the Backup Assistant PIN. Can you recall when this started happening? Was there a PIN or phone change that happened prior to this happening?
    When you go to Media Center>Browse and Download>BackUp Assistant>Options do you see an option sot Upgrade Check? If there isn't an option for that, power the phone off/on and please try to access it again.
    Lastly, you should try to reset the application by following the steps here http://vz.to/1AHpMIo.

  • Red checkmark in contact list on website backup assistant

    Some of the contacts in my contact list on the website backup assistant contain a red checkmark.  What does it mean? 

    How frequently does VZW update the red check marks in BackupAssistant and/or does the system somehow automatically do it?  How accurate are the red check marks or the absence of them in telling you whether those in your contacts are, or aren't Verizon Wireless users?
    For instance my wife just came over to Verizon Wireless less than 2 weeks ago, and her entry in my contact list backup is marked with a red check mark.

  • Website Backup Assistant inop

    Hi, and thanks in advance for your consideration.
    When I log in to My Account on VZWWireless, and go to Backup Assistant, it starts to load my contacts, but I continually see the black/red circling arrow icon.  Thinking it just needed more time, I gave it an hour.  Still thinking, so I left it over night, and this morning it was still hung up on the circling icon.  Any help?  Thanks.  (yes, I have cleared my cache for this website.)  Thank You!

The problem you are experiencing is a issue that our technicians are aware of. A trouble ticket has been issued.  We are working diligently to resolve the problem. At this time a Estimated Time of Resolution  has not been set.     It may be a situation where we all wait for things to clear up.  The Verizon Cloud has been having issues for a very long time.  Have you tried backing up contacts to your Gmail account, if you have one?

  • Backup Assistant shows no contacts on website

    The Backup Assistant on my old Samsung Sway phone says it's working and has synced contacts as recently as today (when I did a 'Backup Now'). However, when I log in to the BA website, I get a blank contact list.
    I haven't tried the Sync button on website as I'm worried it will overwrite the contacts on my phone with the empty list from the web.
    How can I get at my backed up contacts?

    Thank you for reaching out to the community for assistance with transferring your contacts. May I ask did you get this issue resolved? If not then I hope that you still have your contacts in your Samsung Sway. There are two options on how to get the contacts successfully transferred to your new device. If you are still having an issue with the website then I recommend taking both devices to the store to have the contacts transferred without risking any data loss.
    Another option is to create a new account in Backup Assistant with the Samsung Sway activated. Once you have done so, try syncing your contacts to the website again. If they appear online then you are free to activate the new phone. If they do not appear on the website then the first suggestion is recommended as a solution. In either case, please reply back with your findings from the decision you made. Once your contacts have been successfully transferred to your new device then I can open a ticket to have the website issue resolved for you.

  • Backup Assistant/Verizon Cloud website is broken

    I have a basic phone.  I backed up my contacts with Backup Assistant successfully.  Now i want to export them as a CSV or similar file. All of the links on your "Verizon Cloud" Website loop to the same site. I just need a working link to the site that allows me to manage my contacts in my browser.  I tried downloading the free 5GB desktop app for the cloud and its telling me that i have to pay at least 2.99.  Which I am not going to do.

    I see the same webpage advertising verizon cloud.  This page: http://www.verizonwireless.com/wcms/consumer/products/verizon-cloud.html.  I then click "Already a Verizon Cloud user? Manage your content on the web" which brings me to the same page again. I've also tried the link labeled "Manage Your Content >" at the bottom and get the same thing. Almost every link on the page does nothing but reload the same site.

    Folks, I have wasted a whole day looking for a solution to this problem. Perhaps this posting will save someone from wasting their time.
    After over an hour on the phone with two customer support people and a wasted hour at the local Verizon corporate store, and endless hours searching for an answer online, I am at a dead end. There are hundreds of reports in these forums about problems with Backup Assistant (BA). There are instructions on the Verizon website that indicate BA will work if you follow the steps. It just ain't so. Seems to me all Verizon cares about is selling the latest and greatest smart phones.
    Here's the story. Backup Assistant was working on an LG VX6100. It is a tedious program, but at least contacts could be backed up when it worked.
    Today I transferred the 6100 to a new number for a family member, and activated an LG VX8300 for myself. The first phone customer support person directed me through the same steps numerous times and just couldn't believe that the menu options they spoke of were NOT on the phone. I was finally turned over to a second customer support person who directed me through exactly the same futile steps. I read them the same error message over and over again. It was: "Unable to retrieve catalog. Please try again later (3332)." Then I was directed to go to a Verizon store in town for help. Another useless venture.     This response several months ago from MikeS_VZW - there IS a fix but as rep may have to look to find it -
    We hear your!  I have posted several things about not being able to access the Get It Now catalog on some older devices.  Before, there was no way to get your access back to the catalog.  You had to upgrade to a new device if you did not access the catalog between September and March 25, 2011.  There has been a lot of feedback about not being able to access the catalog, so we made it possible to get it back.
    Here's what you need to do to get your Get It Now access back on your older phone:
    1) Ensure you are able to access other data on your phone (go to settings & tools> My Verizon or My Account) this does not charge megabytes, but does connect to data.  This will ensure other data is working.
    2) Make sure you don't have blocks on your line that is preventing you from accessing the Get It Now catalog (app blocks, etc.)
    3) Take it into any Verizon Wireless corporate store (authorized dealers/premium retailers will probably not have this ability).
    4) Explain your issue to them.  If you are getting error 3332 when you bring up Get It Now, let them know.
    5) A representative will plug your phone into a computer and flash the certificate/update onto your phone (we have articles in our information database to walk them through that if it's their first time.
    6) Enjoy having access to your Get It Now catalog again!
    This is new information. Before, the only option was to get a different phone.  I know this sounds cheezy, but we do hear you. Lots of feedback came about due to this change, and although we tried to be proactive as possible to alert the affected users, there were some that fell through the cracks.  Feel free to PM me or call customer service at 800-922-0204 for further information about this.
    Good luck!  And note it specifies CORPORATE STORE - that may be why you weren't getting anywhere before.  Use the Store Locator (top right of your screen) to make sure you are dealing with a corporate rather than "authorized reseller".
    The store clerk read it. After dinking around with the phone for 15 minutes he said he thought a software update for the LG VX8300 might help. He took it in the secret back room, and came out a few minutes later and said that they didn't have the latest version because the IT people hadn't made it available to them and probably wouldn't because the phone was an older phone. Apparently anything older than 4 years is ancient in Verizon's eyes. He suggested I might be able to get it directly from LG. He also said I could bring in the VX6100 and maybe they could transfer the contacts directly from it to the VX8300 if they could find a cable. However, that still leaves me with no Backup Assistant. That was that.
    LG does indeed have updates available online, but it requires a special LG USB cable which I do not have. For instructions visit

    I noticed that you posted this a couple of months ago...  I just activated an old VX8300 as well and am having the same error messages.  Did you have any luck getting it figured out?
    I agree with you as well.  I am getting married in June and do not want to upgrade to any kind of data plan for 2 years and after we get married we're switching to Sprint, not this Verizon garbage with the worst customer service that only cares about screwing people over in this terrible economy. (Sorry, enough ranting from me, just curious if you ever got it fixed? Thanks!)
