Bandwidth requirement for voice calls

Hi All,
Need expertise advise on the following concern about voice call.
1. Bandwidth requirement for video call across all other endpoint(using Polycom / Lifesize end point at their end)
    a)Standard Video
    b)1K HD Video
    c)4K HD Video
2. Plus can we determine bandwidth required for all the following below:
a. 1 to 1 VC  end point ( Cisco TP – Cisco TP)
b. Bridge call  ( Cisco TP to Polycom / Lifesize)
c. 1 to 1 VC end point ( Cisco TP – Polycom / Lifesize)

Thanks for the info Wayne. I missed out information about the endpoint.
Client using CTS 3010.  Acoording to datasheet it says
11.9 Mbps (1080p, 30 fps best motion handling), 10.1 Mbps (1080p, 30 fps better motion handling), 8.8 Mbps (1080p, 30 fps good motion handling)
6.4 Mbps (720p, 30 fps best motion handling), 4.5 Mbps (720p, 30 fps better motion handling), 3.1 Mbps (720p, 30 fps good motion handling)2
My question is does the bandwidth required for both ways or only one way?
And I'm aware CTS 3010 doesn't support 4K video.

  • Bandwidth Requirement for Video Call

    Hi,
I am having Cisco 9951 phones in my all location now we want to configure Video call between two location (Head office to SRST locaiton). Please help me how much bandwidth is require to make video calls.
Also, what all configuration is require for the same.
    Regards,
    Shambhu

The default is inter-region max video call bit rate is 384K, close to one video call.
The default Interregion max video call bit rate is 384K.
The bandwidth would depend on the resolution being used. The recommended bandwidth for resolutions are as follow:
    VGA 360p@30fps: 768 - 2000kbps
    VGA 360p@15fps: 448 - 767kps
    CIF@30fps: 320 - 447kbps
    CIF@15fps: 256 - 319kbps
    QCIF@30fps: 128kbps – 255kbps
    QCIF@15fps: 64 - 127kbps
And 9971 IP Phone supports below formats:
    SQCIF (128 x 96 pixels)
    QCIF (176 x 144 pixels)
    QVGA (320 x 240 pixels)
    SIF (352 x 240 pixels)
    CIF (352 x 288 pixels)
    VGA (640 x 480 pixels)

  • How does the bandwidth required for a voice call v...

I want to have Skype calls with participants in (4) different locations. Some locations have a strong, reliable internet connection. Other locations have less strong and/or less reliable internet connections.
From the Skype website, I see the bandwith needed/recommended for voice calls, but I can't figure whether the needed/recommended bandwith increases with the number of call participants.
Thanks in advance for guidance on what (if anything) I can do to improve efforts to help folks with poor broadband access stay connected!

Connect and sync. That will backup your iPhone settings, and sync your contacts, apps, etc. to your computer via iTunes. Before you hand your iPhone in for the exchange, select Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Contents and Settings - that initiates a secure wipe of the phone contents and cannot be stopped once you start it.
When you get your new phone, connect it and sync, choosing the option to restore from backup. That and the subsequent sync will transfer all of your old settings, contacts, music, apps, etc., to the new iPhone. The only thing that will not transfer are the Wi-Fi passwords and the voicemail password. Those must be set up again on the new phone (that's a security measure).

  • Bandwidth required for Lync 2013 audio video call

    Hi,
what is the required bandwidth required for  lync 2013 audio video call from out side of company network. considering users will use owa integration with exchange 2013  for audio video call.
i tried with lync bandwidth calculator but could not figure it out.
actually i have some remote site where users have connectivity of 160 kbps only.

There are a number of variables such as call type and video resolution, but I would suggest using this table as a guide:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj688118.aspx
For example for capacity purposes with a Lync peer-to-peer call you're looking at 57Kbps (86 with FEC)

  • Total Bandwidth requirement for 720p 30fps video call to mcu 5300 and P2P call

    Hi All,
One of customer purchased 5300 MCU VCSC and VCSE from us.
All infra will be setup in their HQ and all endpoints are from internet. All endpoints will register to VCSE.
customer requirements are 5 concurrent encrypted calls to MCU with 720p 30fps and point to point 10 concurrent encrypted calls.
endpoints are cisco c series endpoints and polycom HDX endpoinds.
They haven't  subscribe the line yet. we need to propose the minimum bandwidth requirement to customer.
    1) what is the minimum bandwidth requirements to achieve 720p 30fps encrypted call to MCU?
    2) what is the total bandwidth requirements for 5 concurrent encrypted calls to MCU?
    3) what is the total load of bandwidth requirements for 5 concurrent encrypted calls to MCU and  point to point 10 concurrent encrypted calls?
    Thanks advance for you answer!

point to point 10 concurrent encrypted calls?
Even with a miltisite license installed on the codec to enable the built in bridge on the endpoint, you're only going to be able to connect up to 3 sites max, the endpoint hosting the conference that has the multisite option + 3 others. You'll have to rely on the MCU to host these conferences.

  • What are bandwidth requirements for FaceTime?

I can't get FaceTime to work. A 'Ping' check tells me that I've got 20Mb download and 1 Mb upload. Is this enough ?  What are bandwidth requirements for FaceTime?  If I've theoretically got a fast enough connection, then where is the restriction of bandwidth occurring?   How can I find out whether the problem is inside my computer, or on the net?

  • Using Cisco 3526 IPVC for Voice Calls as well

Does anybody know the latest capabilities of the Cisco 3526 gateway when used as a Voice gateway? The Cisco SRND for "Cisco IP Video Telephony", which was published in July 2004, states that the IPVC gateways do NOT support H.245 Empty Capabilities Set or H.450. So they will give you supplementary services such as Hold, transfer, etc. Version 3.0 of the 3526 documentation lists "Empty capability set support" as a feature, although it does not state H.245 or H.450.
Basically, I want to use a 3526 as a second Voice gateway as well as a Video gateway in a Call Manager deployment. I am just concerned that I won't get all the supplementary services when using it for voice calls.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I know the product can support voice, my main concern was the support for ECS (Empty Capabilities Set) within H.245. If it does not support this my IP Phones will not be able to use the supplementary features such as Hol;d, Transfer, etc, etc.
I have escalated this to Cisc here in the UK for clarification. I am sure it will, but I just want clarification from Cisco or somebody that has used it in the same scenario.

  • Bandwidth required for Peoplesoft

    Hi,
We are doing sizing in terms of the bandwidth required for peoplesoft v9.0. The server is going to be based in a central location. It is my understanding that Self service and GP would be the most bandwidth consuming modules. GPl would be run from a central location and all employees who will be spread over different geographical locations would have access to Self Service. Do you have any idea of what the minimum bandwidth required would be in this case? I understand that Peoplesoft is PIA but there will be some minimum bandwidth requirement for good performance. I would appreciate any input in this regard, even rough estimates or past experiences will be really helpful. Thanks

I don't have any solid tcp/ip numbers for you. Most of the network traffic is between the web, app, and database servers. If your users can browse the web (MSN, Google, etc) from their location without complaints, they will be able to use PeopleSoft. If you turn on gzip compression in your web profile, that will help a lot. Most of the PeopleSoft JavaScript, CSS, and images are stored as external files so they benefit from client side browser cache. Once a user loads a page, all that will travel back and forth is the HTML that comprises the page itself. Yes, the HTML is a bit bloated as it is based on the HTML design model from several years ago (lots of tables for formatting). A FieldChange, button click, or save will reload the entire page.
Are your users going to be using 56k modems or something better? Really, latency is probably more important than bandwidth in this case.
PeopleSoft doesn't maintain a persistent connection between the web server and browser, so I'm not sure that distance is really an issue.
Just to give you some rough numbers, with JavaScripts, etc in my browser cache, the contents of the Timesheet page is 39k without gzip compression and 6k with gzip compression. So, with gzip compression turned on, you should get much better use of your bandwidth.

  • How to reduce bandwidth required for spa9000 to spa941 link

Anyone can help me with this situation?
I have an spa400-spa9000-spa941 configuration over a satellite internet link. It works fine, during low traffic hours (night) but during the day the voice quality goes really bad (cutted voice, constant interruptions, etc).
We have already measured the bandwidth consumed by the spa941 to spa9000 link, and have found it at 80kbps upstream by 80 kbps downstream. We require to reduce it at least half of the actual values (40 kbps up by 40 kbps down).
We have already tried changing the codecs through the spa941 configuration menu: ( EXT1 –> Audio Configuration -> Preferred Codec -> G726-16 ), without success.
It seems that although we do that changes, the link between spa941 and spa9000 keeps working with the G711u codec.
We require that both calls coming in and out the spa9000 are compressed with a less bandwith consuming codec.
Which options do we need to change in the spa9000 and spa941 in order to make the G726-16 (or a less bandwidth consuming codec) the default codec between both equipments?
We are using firmware version 5.1.9 for spa9000 and version 5.1.8 for spa941.

I have the following options selected in SPA9000 SIP configuration:
    SDP Payload Types
    -->RTP-Start-Loopback Codec: G726-16
    Internal Music Source Parameters
    -->Internal Music LBR Codec: G726-16
-->Internal Music Preferred Codec: Low Bit Rate
    Auto Attendant Parameters
    -->AA LBR Codec: G726-16
-->AA Preferred Codec: Low Bit Rate
... and the following options selected in SPA941 EXT1 configuration:
    Audio Configuration
    -->Preferred Codec: G726-16
    -->Use Pref Codec Only: Yes
With this configuration when we try to dial from SPA941 to remote SPA9000 we get BUSY tone.
Any other thing we should check?

  • Hardware requirement for voice/fax channel from T1?

    Hi all,
I don't know if this is the right forum, but I am looking for validation on my interpretation of hardware requirements.
    The scenario:
I currently have a T1 coming in to the facility and terminating into a vendor-supplied Adtran box which splits off one of the channels from the T1 for voice/fax use (the Adtran has a centronics-style connector going to a 66 block)
I am also in the process of ordering ADSL service to supplement the bandwidth for non-business usage.
Rather than end up with a solution involving an adtran, ADSL modem, and router or two... I want to combine all services into a 1751 chassis.  My only concern / confusion is how to 'split' off the single voice channel from the T1.  There is a phone # associated with the voice channel.
I believe that I will need the router, a multiflex T1 WIC (VWIC-1MFT-T1), ADSL wic (WIC-1ADSL-DG), and an FXS card such as the VIC-2FXS
Am I close here, or completely off base?  Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.
    Thanks!
    -P

    Paolo,
Thanks for the reply - I guess I'm just trying to figure out if the way I described is the 'concept' and correct WIC/VWIC combination of how to get an analog dialtone from a T1 channel while leaving the rest for data.
I know there are probably many more benefits to going with a more modern router, but this is for personal use (the T1 is tied to a business account, but hosted in my house and maintained by me) and I can't really get an ISR in my price range - 1751s, on the other hand, are easy to come by and affordable - I just want to ensure I can have a single line available for Fax
    Thanks!
    -P

  • Ports required for voice gateway registration

    Hi,
Currently our remote office voice gateway is trying to register to the CM and in between there is a firewall. We have opened port DNS, NTP, 2427 and 2428 but it still showing registering to the call manager. What other ports shall we open to make it works?
What about the port requirement for CUE?
    Thanks.

    For MGCP:
    DNS
    NTP
    UDP 2427
    TCP 2428
    TFTP (UDP 69)
For CUE, here is a link you may find helpful:

  • Bandwidth Requirement for VT advantage..

How much BW is required for a Video calls for g729 codec and g.711 calls.
Where to define the codec for video calls.
How to size the BW for calls over LAN as well as for WAN.

There is no g729 or g711 codec for video, it is wideband, h.263, etc. G729 and g711 are for audio calls only.
The VT Advantage video cameras support Wideband video codec, i.e., up to 8128 kbps, which if used is ofcourse recommended only with the same LAN, and H.263 video codec, i.e., from 128 kbps to 1.5 Mbps, over the WAN.
Codec for video calls are defined in System > Region but in terms of bandwidth (128kbps, 384kbps, etc in increments of 64kbps) and not the actual codec.
For connections over the WAN, 128 kbps is the minimum and considered low-quality video, and from 384kbps upwards considered high-quality video. However the actual bandwidth used on the WAN and the QoS configs would be the bit-rate + 20% overhead, which for a video call at 128 kbps would be 154 kbps and for a video call of 384kbps, would be 460 kbps. This bandwidth includes both video and audio channel of the video call.
