BB in Russia and few other questions

Hello! Having few troubles about my new device...Plz, help ) 1. I've got BB Z10, here, in Russia, mostly mobile operators doesnt have any troubles with BIS and this pic of BB in right corner is shown all the time, but my operator (Tele2 Russia) doesn't have that service and actually they don't understand what am i talking about. So i can use BBM only with wi-fi. What should i tell them to solve my problem? 2. Feels like BB is not that popular here too, so we have only one official shop in st-petersburg, so feeling stuck with official accessorises (only one type of battery and only one type of holder), but battery is very weak...u know.. 3. Will be there in os10.3 appear delete button in fast mode? not that useful to delete anything in few clicks... 4. Will be there in os 10.3 fixed problem in viber (shows russian letters in unreadable mode) 5. Is there any ways to choose the way where to install and download apps? 6. in few apps such as VK (russian version of FB) smthg is wrong about saving pictures. 7. Why do if i type a word, make space, then put ")" after, it cutts space back? is there a way to fix it? 8. Why does keyboard differ in apps? i mean, i like the one where letters and numbers are on one display (no need to change), can i make smthng to make it in all apps, not just any? 9. All devices and OS's already have app "tapped out", here i yet can't find it, even out of bbm... 10. In all msg-apps you put 2 buttons with function "send", is that that neccessary? Do anyone plan to put on one of them button with func of next line (like enter on PC)... Sorry if i put my msg in wrong forum, and sorry for my english, i studied it too many years ago For BB: thank you for such a cute device! I was mostly apple-fun, but z10 was a great surprise for me, as z30 either...had a lite experience with curve, bold and 9810, but z's are the best. gave up with iphone even after few days with z10.

9. I tried and it cant be installed...
10. i dont see enter button to send in settings...
OS 10.2.1.3062
5. Yes, pictures, music, videos, documents, voice notes, and more.
You don't have 19GB of space, so I don't know why it say that. What is all in that folder, what type of files?
Try moving less than a folder, just individual files.
8. No.
9. You tried and can't? It would be nice if you stated that up front, rather than me having to guess at what you've done. Why can't it be installed, what error or problem did you encounter, AND from where did you try to install?
10. Can you take a screen shot of your BBM keyboard and post here or a upload the screenshot to an image sharing service and paste a link here so that I can see it?

  • Problem Inserting Euro Symbol and few others

We are using java application with oracle 8.1.6 as the db with the charset as WE8ISO8859P15. ALl the forms are using multipart request. We cannot do away without that. When trying to insert euro symbol and few other western european characters, they get converted to something else before getting stored in the db and so we are not able to display them properly on retrieval.
Can anyone please help in this direction?

Just set the nls_charset.zip in classpath and then try to insert into db.I think it might not be a problem with database.(note. if u insert euro character it will be reside in db, as some format but u retrive it and stream it thru servlet it will be displayed in the browser properly, if u write using printwriter then it might give "?" / "O" in browser. refer http://www.inter-locale.com/faq/blacksquares.jsp).

  • Updating Media Hub firmware *without* an Internet connection? (+ A few other questions)

    Hi everyone! :-)
I recently purchased an NMH305 in the DSG retail stock clearance, which I am planning on using as a "Black hole" for my audio, video and software collections. Before I begin setting it up though, I need to check on a few things and ask a few questions. :-)
First things first, here's a brief overview of my network and some other stuff:
My network has no connection to the Internet whatsoever. I was previously online with a major UK ISP, but because of numerous connection issues and the fact that a direct connection has negative impacts on my lifestyle, I decided to get rid of it and do without.
Consequently, all of my access to the Internet (E.G: Posting here) is done through local libraries and friends connections.
Most of my systems run Windows XP, but I also have a few Ubuntu, Fedora, and OEM firmware based clients knocking around as well. Windows VII and/or a mass switch-over to Linux may occur in the future.
All network clients are wired up with 100mbps fast ethernet (No wi-fi)
My Media Hub currently has it's 500GB WD Green Caviar installed, but my plan is to replace this with two 500GB 7200rpm Hitachi drives stripped out of USB external caddies for quicker access times, greater peace of mind (I don't really trust Western Digital products) and use the more efficient Caviar as an external HDD insted.
Because I like to keep my systems as "light" as possible; I'd like to skip using the bundled set-up CD (Which'll install a lot of stuff that I don't need) and insted set-up the Media Hub manually using a web browser or terminal connection.
I consider myself to be an experienced and advanced user, and therefore I'm comfortable with the idea of configuring and operating my Media Hub via an SSH or Telnet session.
Downloading, backing-up and restoring Firmware by hand:
Anyhow...The first question I'd like to ask is How can I backup and update the firmware on my media hub using only my local network? I know full well that I can download the firmware images using just a web browser, but I cannot seem to find a direct URL anywhere on the Linksys site. The closest lead I've got so far is http://downloads.linksysbycisco.com/downloads/firmware/NMH_FW_3_18_15_B_ReleaseNotes.txt...But no logical variations of this URL that I've tried (Drop the _ReleaseNotes.txt, try .bin .img .tar .tgz and .tar.gz extensions) have resulted in success. :-(
If anyone has the direct URLs for the firmware images, I'd be most greatful. Failing that, if anyone can tell me the URL that the Media Hub uses to perform a version check (A few packets dumped via WireShark during a check will do) I can follow the HTTP chain from there by hand. :-)
Naturally, I'm assuming that there is a means by which to dump and upload firmware to/from the Media Hub (Via an SSH session, most likely) but if not, would serving the firmware update from one of my own systems (Using a record on my local DNS) work, or does the Media Hub use a secure connection for this?
Operating the Media Hub via SSH/Telnet:
As the Media Hub runs a customised version of Linux, I presume that administration via Telnet and SSH are available. I assume that the default login would be root / admin (I'm assuming the web interface also uses the root account for it's administrative logon) but is that correct...Or would I need different credentials to those for a Telnet/SSH login?
Installing new HDDs: Anything need keeping off the old one?
Finally; As I mentioned above, I'm planning to swap the OEM drive supplied with two others before use. I'm currently leafing through the users manual and am about to come across the procedure given for drive replacement, but given the size of the Media Hub's UI - Which looks to me to be pretty heavily featured - I doubt the whole lot would fit on the Hub's firmware flash...So presumably I'd need to back-up interface data and files from the OEM disk to the new disks first.
Dumping data from one disk to another isn't a problem (dd has become one of my favourite utilities over the past year) but - Thinking from the viewpoint of efficiency - Is it possible to restore the UI data and interface alone (No media lists or cache info - That's better regenerated after) without having to dump the first x sectors from one disk to another?
Also; Given the unit comes with a 5400rpm WD Green Caviar, will the Media Hub's PSU handle two standard 3.5" HDDs (Which could draw about 15-20w each) without problems? :-)
Farewell for now, apologies for the length of this post, and many thanks in advance for any help! >:-)

  • FTP Proxy not being denied (and some other questions)

I have a simple BM37+NW6SP5 test server for testing rules prior to moving them to production (2x BM38+NW65SP6). Recently we tried to block all access to FTP sites and allow only a select group of users access. The rules on the test proxy looked something like this:
    1. Action: Deny / Source: Any / Access: URL / Dest: SurfControl
    2. Action: Allow / Source: FTP_User_Group / Access: FTP Proxy / Dest: Any
    3. Action: Allow / Source: WWW_User_Group / Access: URL / Dest: Any URL
    Default Rule:
    4. Action: Deny / Source: Any / Access: Any / Dest: Any
Yet with this setup, anybody in the WWW_User_Group (but not in the FTP_User_Group) was able to access FTP. I temporarily closed the hole by doing this ruleset:
    1. Action: Deny / Source: Any / Access: URL / Dest: SurfControl
    2. Action: Allow / Source: FTP_User_Group / Access: FTP Proxy / Dest: Any
    3. Action: Deny / Source: Any / Access: FTP Proxy / Dest: Any
    4. Action: Allow / Source: WWW_User_Group / Access: URL / Dest: Any URL
    Default Rule:
    5. Action: Deny / Source: Any / Access: Any / Dest: Any
I don't understand why I have to explicitly deny access to FTP Proxy for this to work. I think the rule that grants access to URL for WWW_User_Group is also allowing FTP access. If I turn that rule into a Deny rule in the first ruleset, it deny's all FTP (as well as all HTTP).
Also, we are using SurfControl to block access to certain categories. I read that the URL rule only affects port 80 requests (which would seem weird when its affecting my ftp proxy over port 21 above). How would I go about blocking those same categories over HTTPS?
Finally, does anybody have any general guidelines on how many rules should exist in a typical medium business BM environment (assuming modern hardware)? I'm trying to get the customer to avoid adding so many adhoc rules as the production environment is pretty complex which is why I am testing on a test proxy with few rules to avoid accidental rule overlap. I'm going to have to do an audit of their existing production environment and prefer the KISS principle when it comes to rule definitions.
P.S. Since most sites require both a HTTP and HTTPS rule, almost every desired "rule" in BM needs to be repeated twice to allow (or deny) secure communication as most websites switch to SSL from the launcher (non-ssl) parent page. The rulebase expands quite quickly and gets confusing due to this.

Then you're doing something wrong or you're not telling the whole
settings. your rule was calling nds groups so you need authentication
enable and the checkbox for " Authenticate only when user......."
unchecked. Then the syntax once you open the connection to the ftp proxy
is ndsusername@[email protected]. In your example there is not
    nds authentication.
you do not need ANY rule to block a single site. The default rule will
do for you. If you do not make an specific allow one, then sites will be
    blocked.
Even if I use a web
    > browser and access it as ftp://, it should use the FTP protocol, not
    > the HTTP protocol.
When your browser is configure to go thru proxy and you access a ftp
site, you'll hit two situations with IE:
    1. With default settings, IE will use its miniftp client build in and
try to access the ftp site directly. that can fail if there is a
firewall stopping this traffic as it will bypass bm.
    2. If the option "enable ftp folder view" is unchecked and the "use pasv
ftp..." checked, IE will encapsulate ftp traffic into http and send it
to border, to the http proxy. So bm gets http traffic, remove the http
envelope and makes a ftp connection to the ftp server. But to apply
rules, this is a http traffic thru http proxy. A single LAN trace on the
server will show you this behavior
Firefox always uses the configured proxy settings.

You;re exaggerating here. You will need indeed an port 443 rule but this
is how it works. SSL traffic and normal http traffic are two very
different things. But with a single allow all port 443 you can
    accomplish here. Read below
    > So you're solution is to create a Destination ALL rule for Port 443.

    > filter.
The allow all port 443 it has to be placed after the surfcontrol one and
after other third party rule or websense or whatever you use to block
specific sites. that means that the allow all port 443 only will be hit
if surfcontrol and other rules above this one did not find a match. If a
match is find, bm applies the rule and stop reading so if it hits a site
that websense or SF blocks, it will block it, regardless of the allow
    all port 443.
Also you can make an allow port 443 with a domain name destination, just
    for specific destination
if sites are on the blocked category for SF then it will blocked. You
can go to SF website an check it and if it is not blocked then is a SF
problem not a bm and you should contact them.

  • Hard Drive on iPhone? How to delete it..and a few other questions

    Hello!
I'm a fairly new iPhone user so I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question. Is there a hard drive on my iPhone? If so, how can I delete the info on it? Will it delete my contacts and things like that? How do I do it?
    Thanks so much!
    I have the iPhone 4 version 4.2.1

The iPhone does not have a hard drive. It has a flash drive or flash storage.
If you wipe the entire flash drive, everything will be deleted except for the firmware/OS and all included apps.
You can erase all content and settings direct on the iPhone at Settings > General > Reset, which is a secure erase, or you can restore your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup which is not a secure erase of all data and settings.

  • IMac 21.5" performance on COD4 and few other general questions from a newbi

I'm a current and long time PC owner who is sick of messing with registry problems, performance issues and viruses.
I am strongly considering the purchase of a 21.5" iMac, but have some reservations as to whether I may have performance issues playing Call of Duty 4 using Parallels or Boot Camp. Will the 21.5" machine with the upgraded 256K video card handle this and other games OK? Other than that, I am a light user who mainly surfs the web, sends email and tracks finances with quicken. Games and some video are about the heaviest applications I use.
Currently on a 3 year old Pentium Duo Dell with 2GB ram, 512mb Nvidia video card.

I'm just extremely concerned that the 21.5" iMac won't have enough juice for multi-tasking such as playing COD4 while surfing the net. Even my hopped up gaming PC (older dual core with 512K video card) struggles at times. I'm wanting to make the jump to Mac, just afraid of spending almost $1500+ and winding up with worse performance than I already have.
Unfortunately, the nearest Mac retailer is over an hour away from me so there isn't a real chance to put one through it's paces in person.

  • Just purchased new iMac/need to transfer e-mail and a few other questions.

    Hello,
I just purchased a new iMac yesterday, and so far so good!  I had an iMac with Leopard, however, it was time to upgrade.  I was using Time Machine, and I was able to move my music and photos to the computer ( I did not want to mirror my new computer with the old one except for my iTunes library and iPhoto library ) so I moved them manually.  I did have to delete the iTunes folder and iPhoto library that was already in the home folder though - I assume that was correct because it worked.  Also, iPhoto had to "upgrade" while opening my pictures due to the older version of iPhoto - this was supposed to happen right?
So, the only other thing that I want on my new computer is my old e-mails.  I set up mail which was quite easy, and about 250 of my messages came back - what happened to my inbox that was over 1,000 e-mails?  I really would like everything back.  These messages must be on Time Machine - can I move them as easy as I moved the pictures/music?
I have to say, it's nice having my entire old computer on an external harddrive - it's made this process much easier.
    Thanks in advance!

    1. Your method of migrating iTunes/iPhoto is one of the more 'dirtier' ways to do it, but absolutely works with no harm. The way you transfered (by deleting the library folders) can sometimes erase previous settings/content, but seeing as the libraries were empty and from a fresh install, no harm is done.
    2. iPhoto update is okay!
    3. To import previous mailbox backups from Time Machine: http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11713
    Hope this helps.

  • Any basic differences between AT&T and Verizon, & other questions

I am thinking of buying an iPad mini with retina display (32gb). This would most likely be the only iPad I would ever own. I would use it mostly at the house with wifi, but would like to have one with cellular for when we travel in the US and Canada, and for when the electricity goes out. We currently live in a location where both AT&T and Verizon are viable options, but sometime in the next year we hope to move. The state is rural and mountainous, so as we drive around, my spouse's iPhone (with an AT&T plan) often loses service, but so does my Jitterbug phone, which is not tied to any one carrier (as far as I know). A phone can get a signal in one locaton, but then lose it a few feet down the road. So, there is no way I can choose between AT&T or Verizon based on coverage because both are options right now and there is no way to predict which one(s), if any, might provide service to wherever we end up moving to. Therefore, I'm wondering if there are any basic differences between AT&T and Verizon (or any other of the possible carriers) in what they offer or how they work or what they charge and so on that can help me decide which one to choose since it is my understanding that once I pick one of them for an iPad, that decision can never be changed without purchasing a new device. (e.g., I had read somewhere that Verizon does not allow for voice and data at the same time, but since an iPad is not a phone, is that even an issue?) Also, will the iPad work if there is only regular 4G or 3G service? And will a cellular iPad work without signing up for a data plan since I expect to start with only wifi and then add a data plan later? Thank you.

Alfred DeRose, Thank you for answering the second and third questions. Judging by what you wrote, I am assuming there are no differences between what AT&T and Verizon offer that affects iPads, other than looking at coverage area and the cost of "pay as you go" plans. And, as noted, coverage is not something I can base a decision on at this time. So, I either flip a coin to choose between AT&T and Verizon and hope the result is the right one after we move to wherever we end up finding a place to live, or I continue to wait for another year or more until we actually find a new house before I buy an iPad (or maybe a Kindle Fire HDX 8.9"to save money, but I think I've probably settled on an iPad mini retina 7.9" despite its smaller screen). That does not move me along the decision-making process at all, but it is what it is.
Greatcall has not answered my question about what carrier(s) the Jitterbug Plus phone uses. If, in fact, it uses just the Verizon network, I will try to pay better attention to any possible differences in service areas between that phone and my spouse's iPhone as we travel around the state to see if that helps at all. But coverage is so location specific here that I don't think it will.

  • Playlist and fm modulator and few other questi

    I have few questions.
Is the zen mp3 player compatible with winamp playlists? Can you modify those in side the player?
IS there a FM modulator add on so that the player can play on your car radio by tunning to a certain frequency? I know the ipod has that type of a functionality.
Does a car charger come originaly with the zen player so that you can recharge the battery while driving?
Does the zen software always sycn the files on your compuer? For example, if I have 000 songs and I have downloaded them on to the player and then deleted 500, will the zen also delete 500 on the player next time I hook up the player?
    Thanks!!!

Sounds like your car stereo has a problem, perhaps in terms of the reception within the car. I'm kinda surprised that these internal transmitters work at all based on the Faraday Cage principle, but I guess there's at least some aerial wire (or connecting wire) within the car.
So perhaps you want to take the car to a dealer, or a car audio specialist.

  • Two specific problems and two other questions with Razr Maxx and ICS

Like everyone else, I dl'd ICS this weekend and I've (re)setup things which were there and navigated around fairly well. However, I've noticed a few things to which I can't find an answer.
1.) I have my phone locked via an onscreen password. Before ICS (i.e with GB), when I typed the password, it would not flash the letters/numbers in blue (or whatever color) above the keys as I typed. Now it does. Where do I find the setting so it doesn't?
2.) I have Verizon and before ICS, when I'd send a text to a non-Vzn. user, I'd always get a 'broken' arrow and the delivery was always "Pending" (even though most of the time they actually received the message). When I'd send a text to a Vzn. user, a 'solid' arrow would appear and the Report would show "Received".
Now, no matter if they're a non-Vzn. or a Vzn. user, it never shows "Received". It always shows "Pending".
Is that a bug in the ICS or Vzn. or a combination of both (and does anybody else have that problem, and if so, is there a way to fix it)?
3.) On the top, where it shows '1X' (i.e. 2G), 3G or 4G/LTE, what's the difference between when it appears white color and a blue color?
One other thing - does anybody else notice the on-screen keyboard is different now?
Thanks for anyone's help - I appreciate it.

  • Aspect ratio and some other questions...

I haven't purchased an Apple TV yet (emphasizing YET) but I'm very interested and may make the leap tomorrow. I've been reading a lot on the discussion boards but still had a few questions. I have a widescreen 46" Samsung LCD TV that I'm planning to use as my primary TV. The wife and I have rented a few movies from the iTunes store and noticed the aspect ratio leaves the picture fairly small. I wasn't expecting a full screen picture, but something a little more than barely half the screen. Will the Apple TV improve the picture size or is this what I'm going to expect going forward? Any pictures would be great!
Second, as far as I've read, you cannot connect an external hard drive to the Apple TV itself, but if I hook it to my PowerBook and use my external HDD as my iTunes Library source, will everything work fairly seamlessly? I have an Airport Extreme base station so I'm hoping things work pretty well.
Next, between the 40GB and 160GB Apple TV's -- is there an overwhelming reason to get one or another?
And last (I think), I've started ripping some of my old movies using Handbrake and was curious how the picture comes out on an Apple TV after extracting from DVD's. I've been using the standard "Apple TV" settings within Handbrake.
Thanks in advance for the help, I appreciate it! BTW, definitely a BIG fan of the iTunes rentals!
    Brad

I don't know what monitor you have but there is a fair chance it has a resolution of at least 1600 x 1000 which is why your 640 x 480 rental doesn't fill it although itunes does have an option tto show movies full screen.
Tv's typically have much lower resolutions than monitors and the output from the tv is matched to such resolutions. In short your rentals will fill the screen on your tv when played on the tv.
Many of us here use external drives attached to either a desktop or a laptop to hold out libraries, yes they work flawlessly.
We can't actually discuss methods for ripping commercial DVD's but needless to say handbrake does give good quality exports, I've used it on a few non commercial discs and found the results to be more or less the same quality as the original. In addition to the  preset I always enable 2 pass encoding.

  • Printable PDF and few other issues

    Hello,
I am using BIEE 11g and experiencing few issues and looking for advices for issues below :
    1. Printable PDF format
    - When i download dashboard and answer to printable PDF, the PDF's format doesnt seem following the format of dashboard. It maintains overall format, but it becomes uneven. And gap between sections and columns of dashboard are quite different with it of dashboard on the screen.
    - Image included inside columns of table for conditions, It looks fine on the dashboard and answer, but it gets misplaced if i download them in PDF or PPT. Sometimes the images are outside the table. However, it works fine with Excel.
    2. Mobile Device Management
    - For addition of new mobile device, I go to Administration => Manage Device Types. When i try to create a new device, it gives me error message saying "This Device Type cannot be deleted/updated as it is a pre-configured system device". Is there anyway i can add new devices?
    3. MS Word. Direct download impossible for dashboard and answer
    - This one is simple. Is it possible to download answer or dashboard directly as MS Word format. I heard that security of MS Office blocks users for direct download.
    Thanks in advance.

AngM627,  I can imagine how frustrating it must be for you to keep receiving the notification advising you to update your phone software. Do you mind telling me which software version is on your Incredible 2?

  • Web dynpro ALV and some other questions

    Hi All,
I have couple of question for experts.
I am very much new into Web Dynpro world, and i have one web dynpro application built by my old colleague.
I want to add search feature into the application so that out of 1000 records i could search one based on some field value, how can we achieve that ?
I have read lot abot ALV list in web dynpro, How to find that specific approach has been used into particular web dynpro application or not ?
Thanks for your time for reading my question and hope to get some response..
    Pranav.

    Hi Pranav,
    Hope the following helps you.
<u>Searching for a record based on some field value</u>
You can have an input field (bound to a context attribute) in your view. Whatever you type in the field will now be associated with the context attribute in your context. Place a button on your view. Define an action for this button (e.g. SEARCH), in the property onAction of the button. Now, in the action handler for the button (ONACTIONSEARCH), access the context attribute (can be done using WD Code Wizard). Then using your business logic, get the date into another context attribute, which can be displayed in the view using a textview (or textviews)
<u>Find whether ALV is used in your WD Application</u>
Go to your WD Component, in the used components you should find a use for component SALV_WD_TABLE. Also, in one of the views, the Interface View TABLE of the ALV component will be embedded in its ViewContainerUIElement. This information can be found in the Window of your own WD Component.
    Regards,
    Neha

  • Streaming problems and some other questions

    1) i've read that some people have problems streaming youtube as well as me. but mine is terrible, i can't stream at all. my curve 8900 can barely stream with wifi.......why is this? is there any updates? ALSO, i have version 4.6, can i update this to a more recent blackberry version? if so, where? thank you! x p.s. i just tried with wifi now, and it doesn't stream at all, it says i may have either javascript turned off or old version of adobe flash player........
    2) can we not have adobe flash?...because i can't stream any video off any website...
    3) through an e-mail i was sent a pdf file and i opened it and i'm not sure if i saved it. if i did save it, where could it be stored? i've looked everywhere!
    4) under 'setup' there is an 'interactive' button. what i that for?
     5) BLUETOOTH PROBLEM: i've paired it and tried (when to media and done the 'recieve using bluetooth') and it didn't work. so i deleted the pair and tried it without, and still nothing. i've tried fixing some options in settings but still nothing...i think i played with the options a bit too much now...lol. but is there an ideas? please help. also, is there anything in options that i have changed which might be hindering the process (i.e. firewall)?
p.s. i read both manuals that came in the both and the help they provide is all common sense!...they need a more detailed manual in my opinion. Also, is there a number i can call for support/help for my questions regarding my 8900?
    thank you! x

Many possible reasons -- poor coverage area, old OS, trying to use the full YouTube rather than their mobile site, etc.

No. Flash is not available for BB's at the present time. I'm pretty sure that your "any" words are overstated -- perhaps the sites you try cannot stream, but there are others who can stream, so any is a bit over the top.

Just send yourself another attachment...then pay attention when you save it, then go there and that should be the same place that older PDF should have gone.

Sorry, no clue...might be something specific from your carrier.

Your support is, by contract, provided by your carrier...that is how it works. For general use of the devices, these forums are, frankly, the best place as the folks here are other users just like you.
    Cheers!
