Problem Inserting Euro Symbol and few others

We are using java application with oracle 8.1.6 as the db with the charset as WE8ISO8859P15. ALl the forms are using multipart request. We cannot do away without that. When trying to insert euro symbol and few other western european characters, they get converted to something else before getting stored in the db and so we are not able to display them properly on retrieval.
Can anyone please help in this direction?

Just set the nls_charset.zip in classpath and then try to insert into db.I think it might not be a problem with database.(note. if u insert euro character it will be reside in db, as some format but u retrive it and stream it thru servlet it will be displayed in the browser properly, if u write using printwriter then it might give "?" / "O" in browser. refer http://www.inter-locale.com/faq/blacksquares.jsp).

I have a database on oracle 9i and i can't store the euro symbol ( it is stored like a '?' reverse).On the server I have NLS_CHARACTERSET=WE8MSWIN1252 and for
NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET=AL16UTF16.
Which superset is needed for this parameter to display the euro symbol and if I can do the change if the my NLS_CHARACTERSET is not a superset for NLS_NCHAR_CHARACTERSET ?

BB in Russia and few other questions

Hello! Having few troubles about my new device...Plz, help ) 1. I've got BB Z10, here, in Russia, mostly mobile operators doesnt have any troubles with BIS and this pic of BB in right corner is shown all the time, but my operator (Tele2 Russia) doesn't have that service and actually they don't understand what am i talking about. So i can use BBM only with wi-fi. What should i tell them to solve my problem? 2. Euro symbol and Internet Explorer

Hi,
I'm trying to display in a HTML page a Euro value using an Italian Locale. The output is always a question mark followed by the correct Euro value (i.e. ? 513,45).
My client browser is IExplorer 5.5 sp2. JSP server is TOMCAT latest release. Web services are under IIS (NT 4.0)
I'm using the following code in a JSP page.

HI Mario,
definately your encoding. Just about every European encoding nowadays has two versions - the old one, and the new updated one that carries one extra character - the Euro symbol.
Unfortunately, I can't tell you off the top of my head what the name of the right encoding to use would be, but the JDK documentation points to a list of all defined encodings, which should contain the one you're after.

As far as I know, euro is not in code page 437 (US English). IBM's web site has more information for you.

Euro Symbol and Oracle

How can I display Euro Symbol in Oracle - if shows now as a opposite ?. I read that I ned to change the character set to WE8MSWIN1252. How can I figure out what set we are currently using?

The "right answer" here is that the third party application does not support the Euro character (or any other character not in ASCII 1-127).
My hunch is that the third party vendor has built an application that relies on unsupported Oracle behavior-- if your client NLS_LANG and database character set are identical, Oracle does not do character set translation when you send an retrieve data. This can allow a single application to appear to "get around" the limitations of the database character set. Basically, if every application that stores and retrieves data agrees to lie to Oracle in exactly the same way (i.e. I have Chinese data encoded in Big5, but I tell Oracle it is US7ASCII when I store and retrieve it, then treat it as Big5 after I've retrieved it) an application can appear to store Chinese data in an ASCII database. If any application that does not know how to "properly" lie to Oracle tries to query the data, however, the non-ASCII data will not be retrieved correctly. Since Oracle utilities (import, export, database links) and various layers like JDBC don't know how to "properly" lie to Oracle, this is generally not a long term solution.

MSI P6N SLI V2 does not boot up from cd/dvd and few other problems

I just bought a computer P6N SLI V2 + E6750. It has following problem. It does not boot from cd.
I have Sata HD. CD/DVD is installed to IDE as a master.
I have done settings in bios so that First boot is cd/dvd and second is sata HD. Anyhow it still goes to the hd and stars windows.
I was only able to boot up from cd when I disabled hd from boot sequency. Meaning I left only cd/dvd there.
Hopefully you pro's can help me.
Then there is another problem. Windows is telling me that it found new pci device. I do not know what device. I have only Graphig card (geforce 8800 gts) installed into pci-E. Drivers and software are also installed, I assume proberly. How to find out what windows thinks it found.
Third problem is onboard soundcard. I cannot get any sound out from the machine. I have downloaded driver from realtek, but still no sound.
Unfortunatelly I do not have original software for motherboard. Only the latest from MSI website.

About bootup, i dont know yet.
To find out what windows found, look in devicemanager.
To go there go to controlpanel, system then choose devicemanager.
There you can see what's installed.
Last, your soundcards needs to be enabled in bios, under integrated peripherals there should be a line with "onboard sound", enable this and sound should work, unless its broken.

Euro symbol and beyond

One types the € symbol with option-shift-2 on the US keyboard. I think it would be more "Mac-like" if one held the shift-4 keys for a few moments and a menu came up offering €, £, ¥ and others.

Or, if you do not want to wait for Apple, you can take advantage of keyboard substitution. In System Preferences > Keyboard > Text, I added a substitution. Whenever I type !$, I am prompted to replace it with the € symbol.
In the With side, I simply keyed in shift+option+2.

I have few questions.
Is the zen mp3 player compatible with winamp playlists? Can you modify those in side the player?
IS there a FM modulator add on so that the player can play on your car radio by tunning to a certain frequency? I know the ipod has that type of a functionality.
Does a car charger come originaly with the zen player so that you can recharge the battery while driving?
Does the zen software always sycn the files on your compuer? For example, if I have 000 songs and I have downloaded them on to the player and then deleted 500, will the zen also delete 500 on the player next time I hook up the player?

Sounds like your car stereo has a problem, perhaps in terms of the reception within the car. I'm kinda surprised that these internal transmitters work at all based on the Faraday Cage principle, but I guess there's at least some aerial wire (or connecting wire) within the car.
So perhaps you want to take the car to a dealer, or a car audio specialist.

[HOWTO] fix throttling/temperature problems of GTX 870m (and probably others)

The problem:
Other than repasting and undervolting using a VBIOS mod, you can't do much to prevent the guaranteed 93°C hit on the GS70 with the GTX 870m,
which results in serious throttling after a short while of full load on the GPU to prevent hardware-damage and thus, while playing, massive FPS drops. Also the mentioned "fixes" only delay the inevitable.
That's what I thought to be correct - turns out, it isn't.
This may work for any laptop/card combination with temperature/throttling issues, not only the GS70-2PE + GTX 870m!
I've found a way to circumvent the 93°C problem on the GS70 with a GTX 870m (may apply to other laptops/cards aswell):
The NVIDIA driver (and only the driver, not any hardmodded VBIOS) is able to set some stuff about the temperature target, you can't change with a hard mod - I've talked to svet about that.
Let's have a look some screenshots I took:
Screenshot #1 - default behaviour:
On the first screenshot you see the default behaviour of a brand new GS70-2PE with a GTX 870m - not repasted. It was taken right after I took the second screenshot, so there's still some amount of data left on the charts from before.
Have a look at the "GPU Core Clock" in GPU-Z. You'll notice big spikes (which go down to about 480 MHz) on the right hand side of the graph. That's the throttling the card automatically does when it's hit its 93°C temperature for about a minute. That are lag-spikes when playing something demanding.
You also notice on the "PerfCap Reason" row - when it was throttling in the "GPU Core Clock" row no soft performance cap was induced so this was done by the card (or the EC?) internally (that's the empty space on the right hand side of the chart).
Now let's look at the second screenshot.
Screenshot #2 - fixing things:
Notice the difference on the right hand side of both screenshots' "GPU Core Clock" charts. See the spike-downs gone in the second screenshot?
You can also see, that compared to the first chart, the driver has reduced the voltage to reach the Temperature Target while the clock rate was reduced.
Here I've slightly lowered the base clock of the GPU by -40 MHz, aswell as reduced the Voltage Offset by -18.8 mV. (Both settings may not even be necessary, please report your results)
This is the important part:
Additionally I've set the Temperature Target as priorized over the Power Target, and set the Temperature Target to 90°C.
As you can see when the GPU hits 91°C, after a couple of seconds it will clock down, but controlled by the driver (you can see that in the "PerfCap Reason" chart). It's not as bad as the drop to 450 MHz, it's just a 100 MHz drop, to about 810 MHz in my case. It stays there until it reaches a temperature of about 86°C, stays there a bit, clocks up again, and so on. (The clock values you see don't reflect the 810 MHz, the screenshot was taken while the PerfCap was not in effect)
Results
What have we gained?
No massive last-resort throttling by the card itself, but a small clock drop induced by the NVIDIA driver to meet our desired temperature target. A huge all-around performance improvement when the card gets hot and less FPS drops when playing for a long time or a GPU hungry game.
What have we lost?
Some few seconds of boost clock as the card clocks down a bit earlier. Also in my case I've lost 40 MHz of base clock (that may not even be necessary).
Combine that with a decent repasting and I'd call my GS70-2PE with a GTX 870m "stable" and reasonably fast on full GPU load.
By pressing the "Create Clocks Shortcut" button in NVIDIA Inspector those settings will be set on boot.
Please tell me what you think. Any improvements and experiences welcome.

the offset shouldn't matter - inspector showed some weird behaviour when modifying and/or initially setting it. Try to apply my fix and don't do anything to the offset as a first try to be safe. It shouldn't matter nevertheless, as we're talking about a very small millivolts value, nothing big.
Regarding repasting with IC Diamond: I've had great success in "repasting" using Liquid MetalPad - you might want to consider this.

Printable PDF and few other issues

I am using BIEE 11g and experiencing few issues and looking for advices for issues below :
1. Printable PDF format
- When i download dashboard and answer to printable PDF, the PDF's format doesnt seem following the format of dashboard. It maintains overall format, but it becomes uneven. And gap between sections and columns of dashboard are quite different with it of dashboard on the screen.
- Image included inside columns of table for conditions, It looks fine on the dashboard and answer, but it gets misplaced if i download them in PDF or PPT. Sometimes the images are outside the table. However, it works fine with Excel.
2. Mobile Device Management
- For addition of new mobile device, I go to Administration => Manage Device Types. When i try to create a new device, it gives me error message saying "This Device Type cannot be deleted/updated as it is a pre-configured system device". Is there anyway i can add new devices?
3. MS Word. Direct download impossible for dashboard and answer
- This one is simple. Is it possible to download answer or dashboard directly as MS Word format. I heard that security of MS Office blocks users for direct download.

Problem with Euro Symbol when import a PDF in SAP

Hi all,
I developed a sap interactive forms based on two custom tables.
It works fine, i can download from sap and upload in sap the data.
I have a preblem if, in a text field, in the pdf file I put the u20AC symbol. with this symbol the system can't convert the pdf and so It isn't able to create the xml structure from the pdf file.
Any suggestion?
