BBM request going to my old phone

I recently swapped phones with my wife. We did phone wipes, and put our own blackberry ID's on our new phones. However, all BBM requests from friends still go to the old phone, and when I send a BBM request to my wife it comes up on my phone (which is her old phone). My service provider is unable to resolve the issue.

Are you sending the requests to email addresses or to PINs? Make sure that your friends have your new PIN (not the old one) and make sure that you move your email addresses to the new devices.

As long as iMessage is enabled and the old phone is connected to a WiFi access point, it will continue to receive iMessage texts. It won't receive non-iMessage texts nor will it receive any calls.

  • Why are my messages going to my old phone?

i got a new phone tye other day, but my text from iphone users are still showingg up on  my old iphone (4).  so, at this moment i have:
    1. cleared data and cache o  the new phone.
    2.changed my apple id password
3.erased old pbone to factory settings.
    help.please.

Are the messages that are going to the old phone being sent to the Apple ID possibly? On the new phone, when you go into Settings>Messages, is iMessage activated? If so, and you go to Send & Receive, is the phone number gray and checked? If it is, is there a checkmark by anything else? What about the settings on the other device? Why do you have the other device on? Is it being used like an iPod?

  • How to stop messages from going to your old phone when you get an Andriod

    Hey,
So this isn't a question since i have the answer i just figured this out today and saw no answers for my case so i'd figured i'd post a solution i found.
In my instance i got the a new phone, Android, and the iMessages were still going to my old iphone. I restored the phone and took out the sim but messages still wouldn't go to my phone.
Every thread says in order to fix you have to go to settings in the phone... BUT WHAT IF YOU DON'T HAVE YOUR PHONE ANYMORE!
    Here's your answer:
Go to apple.com and sign into your ID account on your computer. Go to the phone number settings. Delete your phone number. Save. And then for extra security change your password. Then turn your new phone off and back on and ask a friend who as an iPhone that hasn't been able to contact you to text to you see if it worked. It worked for me and i hope this works for you because this sh*t was frustrating.
    Thanks,

    https://appleid.apple.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/MyAppleId.woa/wa/directToSignIn?loc alang=en_US
    Go the the above
Sign in. Go to the left side where it says phone numbers. Delete your number. Then save.
Your iPhone friends will now get the red exclamation point that the message didn't deliver instead of it sending. Then your iPhone friend will force the message to go through as a text by long pressing the message and choosing send as text. Once tthey do that once you're set and all other messages will automatically send as texts for them to you. You just have to hope your iPhone friends realize to force the messages through as texts the first time around  but even if they don't at least they know they aren't reaching you and you aren't ignoring them.
    Does that help?

After ios7, My iphone4 has gone dead twice in a time frame of around two months...even though its not happening very often but a two month Old phone going dead just after a New update is not acceptable.probably ios7 still has sum bugs dat need to be fixed...Can this bug expected to be fixed in the next update...

    Hi 1283ar.
Unfortunately, iOS 7 is too hard to push for the iPhone 4 and therefore has a lot of effects turned off to try to get it to run as smoothly as possible.
However, it becomes better and better with each update coming but it's hard to do anything about the hardware on an already released phones.
If you still have trouble or think they are too hard. My tip is, if so, to restore your iPhone 4 and make a clean setup with no iCloud backup. But all your photos in a photostream so you can access it later.

I switched from an iPhone to an LG g2, but now all my iMessages keep going to my old iPhone rather than the new one.  I know the resolution to the problem is to turn off my iMessage, but I no longer have the iPhone because I sold it to the phone carrier.  Question is how do I turn my iMessage off through a computer that is not a mac.

    hi,
i'm setting up new iphone from a back up and it's trying to sync all apps, this is going over memory capacity.  it's also not bring over any of the music that i had on my old phone, any help greatly appreciated. thanks

Geesh - all this information and no  one has any clue to this? Not even someone from Apple?
Can someone at least point me in the right direction?

  • Every time i plug the phone into the computer i get a popup saying "the usb plugged in is drawing too much power".  how am i going to get the song off that old phone and into my new mac

I recently got both an iphone 5 and a macbook air.  im trying to take the songs off my old phone (iphone 4s) and get them onto my mac's itunes and then be able to sync them to my new 5.  every time i plug in the 4s into the mac, it says that the USB is drawing too much power and has to be shut off.  what should i do to recover my songs?

Are you using a usb hub or anything like that? If so, try without. Otherwise unplug everything from your mac and reboot with your iphone 4s plugged in and nothing else.
    Hope it works!

  • Update request automatically goes to an old Apple ID

When trying to do an software update from the App Store, it automatically inputs an old Apple ID that I cannot change and cannot remember the password for and it goes to an old email account that I no longer have access to.
    What can I do?
    Thank you.

All purchases are (forever) tied to the Apple ID used to purchase it.
YOur only option is to contact Apple Store directly. Contact info is at the bottom of the Store page.

  • My Icloud on my phone keeps going to my old account.  How do I change my id

Why does my icloud keep going to my old apple ID

If you still have access to your old email address, go to https//appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your iCloud ID.  Tap edit next to the primary email account, tap Edit, change it back to your old email account and verify it.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You should then be able to turn off Find My iPhone with your password. Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back and change your primary email address and iCloud ID back to the way it was.  You will then be able to go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current ID and password to reconnect to your iCloud account.
If you don't have access to your old email address, you will have to contact Apple to get them to reset the password for it so you can disable Find My iPhone and sign into your iCloud account.  You will have to prove your identity to them in order to do so.  You can either contact iTunes support for assistance with this (https://ssl.apple.com/emea/support/itunes/contact.html), or contact Apple Support (http://www.apple.com/support/icloud/contact/).

  • Anyone else finding out their old phones don't appraise after delay receiving the iphone6?

So despite ordering 2  new I6's on September 17th...and getting an appraisal of $200.00 apiece for my old 5c and 4s...the delivery was delay 2x's. First to 10/7 and the second time to 10/16. When I received the box and it asked me to go to the site and simply print a return it didn't work so I tried taking the 2 older phones to a verizon store but was told that wasn't possible. The agent submitted a return request for us and we waited for Verizon to get back. They did not...so yesterday 10/29....I called to see how to expedite things.
Remarkably I discovered that as of 10/15 the 4s was devalued to $100.00 instead of the $200.00 I had confirmed with my initial order as well as the $600.00+ I had come up with to get the order going!
I was told "oh, that price dropped on 10/15....you should have told us by that date that you would be returning your old phones"...WHAT?!!! Just what did the agent think when I called and ordered the new phones - etc.!! Since Apple changed their trade-in - Verizon wouldn't honor it...despite all of us out there not receiving our phones as promised! I didn't even get mine until the 16th!
Where was I advised of this and why hadn't this been publicized? The claim is: yes it was noted on our site. However, after feeling reluctant to order online I happened to make the personal call so there was more clarity - BIG MISTAKE!!
SO! for those of you on the delay wagon--- don't expect your phone to appraise! It is beyond their date!
I have now ordered return labels for the new phones and plan to cancel everything. I have had Verizon since 2000.....had at one time 5 business lines and this is the final straw.

Let me ask you - since I was NOT advised by your CSR on the phone (who one would assume is still Verizon) then how would I know? Interesting you say it must have been done at one of your stores or online - IF that was the case then why did your agent take my order, advise me of the terms of the exchange etc.? Additionally, maybe you didn't read my letter but....why would I get a submission ID before I had received the phones I ordered!! They didn't arrive until AFTER that date! Really!
Once again, you and all the other employees of Verizon are covering up for your boss VERIZON. The facts are customer service and all the qualities you were known for over the years is vanishing. Look at the web postings and you will see....you are sinking in rates as fast as can be. It's subterfuge - the bottom line is when you are caught in a flagrant misleading promotional campaign that you were unprepared for - phones that were not delivered according to your statements (regardless of who you want to blame that on)..you refuse to backup your customer service agents. Let's remember, had I received the phones on the promised date, even the SECOND promised date this would not even be a topic of discussion.
Additionally, it should also be said that had I followed the instructions in the box I would have been in more trouble. Your agent at the Verizon store told us plain and simple - DO NOT use those instructions! They aren't correct!
Ahhhh.....another example of incompetence in my mind.
I have owned many businesses in my lifetime. I am accountable to provide and back up all my employees in the highest manor of ethics of I lose all credibility - that is precisely what Verizon is doing at this moment....

  • How do I stop the texts from other iPhone users trying to reach the person who has my old phone number?

I no longer have cell phone service but I still use my iphone every day for apps and imessage. Now someone has my old phone number. It seems that this person does not have a iphone. Everytime one of their friends with an iphone tries to text them the message goes to my iphone. I have tried many things to stop this. I took my old phone number off my apple account and I took out my old sim card. But I still am getting texts from other iphones attempting to reach whom ever has my old phone number. HELP please. This person is very popular, at first it was funny now its annoying. I'm sure the person with my old number is even more upset than I since they are actully paying for service.

    Hello there, lalaysa.
The following Knowledge Base article offers up some great recommendations for unlinking your old phone number from your device:
iOS and OS X: Link your phone number and Apple ID for use with FaceTime and iMessage
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5538
    Unlink a phone number
To remove a phone number from an Apple ID, sign out of FaceTime and Messages on your iPhone:
Settings > Messages > Send & Receive. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
Settings > FaceTime. Tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
This should remove your phone number from other devices using the same Apple ID with FaceTime and Messages. If the phone number is still available on other devices after you sign out of FaceTime and iMessage on the iPhone, you may need to sign out of iMessage and FaceTime on all your devices, then sign in to FaceTime and Messages again on devices you want to use.
Note: If you no longer have access to the iPhone that is using the number you want to remove, reset your Apple ID password.
Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.
    Cheers,
    Pedro.

  • Upgrading to Edge and keeping old phones...

I have 2 phones that are under contract and paid in full, 23 months of the 24  months right now. I'm interested in switching to EDGE, but I learned they want me to give them my phones that are far paid off. Currently, we've paid around 2200$ towards the 900$ in cell phones. I understand you pay more with subsidiaries blah blah. I wasn't asking for a waiver of the contract. I was asking to be  allowed to pay off my last month in the contract today and sign up for EDGE and be able to keep the old phones. I assumed there's no way they would say no, I'm willing to pay 170$ immediately and switch to a plan where I pay 50$ more a month...what company would ever say no to this??  Verizon would.
This whole switch was stemmed from getting stopped by a rep from at&t that was giving money to buy out people's contracts with Verizon and they offered a similar plan for new phones. The trouble is, their service isn't as good in the area I live and so I looked into what Verizon was offering currently. I was excited when I noticed the same offerings over here and disappointed when striking out online and in a local store front.  We were looking to switch to some water resistant phones before our family trip to the Pacific coastline.
Has anyone ever had any luck with customer support in a similar situation. Again, just looking to pay off my last month now and upgrade to new phones on EDGE without turning in my old phones.

Funny thing about that is people with less than 10 GB of data allowance are only paying $10/month of the line access fee towards "paying off their phone" while people with 10 GB or more of data allowance are paying $25/month of the line access fee towards "paying off their phone".
Verizon must like the people better who have a lower data allowance since a smaller portion of their line access fee is going towards "paying off their phone".
Unfortunately, some of the competitors have the same pricing schedule.

  • Verizon EDGE - Why do I need to trade in my old phone?

I'm not expecting this question to be answered, and this might have been discussed before, but I just need to vent my frustration with Verizon.
After T-Mobile introduced their JUMP program, Verizon did a "me too" and offered EDGE. However, their phone subsidies are still included in the bill (unlike T-Mobile) and you need to trade in your old phone to get a new one via EDGE. What's the point of trading in your old phone if you're paying full price for the new one (over time)?
Also - My contract is now up and if I choose not to do a 2-year extension to get a discounted phone, it would make sense for me to get some sort of discount toward EDGE's monthly payments ($10 off a month, or something like that).
In any case, my old phone has a crack on it and Verizon won't accept it toward EDGE. When I brought it to the store the guy said that I should replace my screen and THEN bring it back in. Right, so I'll pay $100 to repair my screen and then Verizon can make money selling it as refurbished AND charge me a full price for a new one via EDGE.
    JUST SAYING.
    Andrew

What kind of phone do you have? There is no need to trade in your old phone to get on Edge if you are not under contract. Verizon sometimes did have special promotion for customers who may be in contract with a 3G smartphone or an older 4G phone. This special promotion required trading in the phone that they had because it was technically still under subsidy and the Edge program would give those customers the chance to "upgrade" before their actual date. However, if you are out of contract trading in your phone is NOT necessary. You have already fulfilled your obligation for that device. If you have an iPhone the rep was trying to get you to trade it in towards accessories for the new phone. They  work on commission and this is how they make a huge portion of the sales goal. I know most people don't care about that but a common misconception is that these reps make their money on the phones they sell which does NOT help them. If you are going to buy your phone from a corporate store you should get something else with it.
On to The Edge program. True this program is following suit with T-Mobile's plan. There are some differences. To be on TMo's Jump you are charged your monthly service fee (say $80), then you are charged your monthly fee for the phone (depends on the full price of the phone but say $27 average) which does not include any down payment. TMo also charges you $10 (mandatory) Jump fee. Yes this includes $8 for the insurance but there is still a $2 surcharge to be on the program. With VZW Edge your monthly service fee and your Edge payment. This is calculated by taking the full cost of your device and dividing it by 24. At the time of purchase there is no down payment. You only pay the tax on the full cost of the phone and the first Edge payment. I would opt for the insurance because if you would like to get a new phone before the 24 months is up that phone CANNOT be damaged in any way. With Edge you must complete 30 days with the device and 50% of the full cost of the device and you can change it. For all intents and purposes, Edge is like a lease. You pay monthly and can get out if when you meet the requirements. So, if you like to change to the newest devices or have more freedom this program is where it's at.

Replacement iphone(hardly one month old phone) is a new one or refurbished ?
I am facing lot of issues with my iphone 3gs.Please i request you guys dont buy any apple products here.its waste.I bought my iphone one moth back when i use GPRS(internet ) on my phone .it will shut down and gets heated.Went to imagine(Authorised apple service center)they said will replace the phone when i went to collect the phone they said it a new one when i check the connector it was having all dust in it.WHEN I ASKED THEN AGAIN THEY SAY ITS  A NEW PRODUCT.HOW COME A NEW PRODUCT HAS DUST COLLECTED IN CONNECTOR DOCK.
Replace the phone with a brand new phone.

There should be no way to tell.  The dealer/store shouldn't know either.  It should be good as new.
The warranty clearly states that it can be a refurb unit.  You have no say in the matter.
