BEFW11S4 reinstall cable issue

I had my laptop repaired and while I did this the modem died so after calling the cable company they told me to hook the desktop directly to the modem and the new modem works, now I have my Laptop back and tried to get a signal with the cable coming from the modem to the WAN port and nothing so that cable goes to the UPLINK port and the cable from the '1" port goes to the Desktop and so now NO wireless signal at my Laptop

hi... logon to router's setup page, open I.E. and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1, it would ask for username and password...put "admin" (default password) and try chaning wireless channel to 11 and SSID...also try upgrading latest firmware on the router, check whether it works or not and let me know.

  • Cisco VPN 3.6.3b and BEFW11S4 v2 connection issue

I'm hoping someone can help with this problem.  I am able to connect to my employers VPN server, but cannot access any of the shared areas.  I've found some documentation that may point to an MTU issue, but adjusting the value on the laptop from 1400 down to 1250 to 1200 doesn't work.  I've tried forcing the value to 1250 using the Router Filter settings with no luck.  IPSEC pass through is enabled on the router as is MAC filtering.
I've tested the VPN while on-campus and I have no problems.  I also have no problems accessing the internet through the Linksys router with VPN turned off.
    Any ideas?

Ok thanks so much. I will try again.
My company's IT guys aren't  being very helpful, won't return my calls, emails, etc. and don't appear to be giving me clear instructions on what I believe to be a standard request.  Not sure why .
We can't get in as administrators, they have to do it for us, and they are not timely in requests like these.  We are a large company (over 10K employees) and the last time I tried this was with our email client and and Cisco VPN, bundled together. It was a disaster and I don't recommend it.  So this way was supposed to be easier for the user, and for them to help us with questions.  Oh well.
I will at least try what you have suggested, and when I get back to work I will see if I can get their public ip address, and see if they will check on the port.
I will post back to see if the suggestions from the above post worked.
Many thanks again for your help!

  • BEFW11S4 Ver4 connection issues

I am having some issues with my router.  While this is a wireless router i have 2 wired connections plugged into it.  I am what seems like constantly having to reset the router to get my connectivity back.  By reset i mean i disconnect the ethernet cable from the cable modem to the router and i disconnect the power from the router.  My connection seems pretty close to the 5mb connection i am hooked up with when i do a test on it at say pcpitstop.  Its just getting really annoying to have to reset the modem 4 or 5 times plus a day.  Once i reset it the connection ushually works fine.
So any help you can offer i would really appreciate.  If you need some more info on setting just ask for what you need.  Im not the best with networking but i can most likley find the info.
    Thanks,
    Major

What you can do is to upgrade the routers software. To upgrade this, do the ff steps:
    1) Go to www.linksys.com/downloads and type in BEFW11S4 in the "model number box" and select version 4. Then download and save the firmware.
    2) Go back to www.linksys.com and type in again BEFW11S4 but this time choose version 3. Download and save the file that is labeled as the set-up wizard.
The after you have downloaded both files, run the set-up wizard. It would then ask you for Server, Password and File. For server , input the values 192.168.1.1, password is admin, file is the 1st file that you have downloaded. Then click on the upgrade button.
Do this on a PC hardwired to the router. Make sure all firewalls are off before doing this.

  • I have an HDMI to mini DVI cable issue!

Recently my cable i use for my TV stopped working and i can't sort out why. when connected, my computer goes blank (black) and yet if a video is playing i can hear it. problem is i cant seem to get out of the black screen even if i disconnect from the TV. i have to shut down the computer manually because it seems to be stuck. what could it be??? bad cable? bad port? i do not leave my computer connected all the time, so could it be plugging and unplugging the cable from the computer? it worked simply for the longest time so i can't imagine what happened. i heard maybe a mini DVI/HDMI adapter on my computer might be a good idea too. please advise.

    Hi hayesjdr78,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If you no longer see video when connecting your Mac to your TV, try these steps first:
    Check connections
When using an external display be sure to check the following:
If you're using an Apple notebook, confirm the AC power cable or adapter is securely connected to the computer and the cable providing power to the display is also secure. It is always good to have your notebook connected to AC power when an external display is in use.
Confirm display adapters are fully seated in their respective connections and that they are supported models and for the computer and display. Refer to these articles to assist you with adapter compatibility and further configuration information:
    Monitor and Display Adapter Table

Thunderbolt ports and displays: Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Remove all display cable extenders, KVM switches, or other like devices and retest to determine if the issue is resolved.
Try unplugging the video adapter or cable and then plug it back in.
If more than one video adapter is in use (or "daisy-chained"), troubleshoot by using only one adapter.
Example: A mini DisplayPort to DVI adapter connected to a DVI to HDMI adapter is an unsupported configuration because there is a series of adapters in use.
If available, try using a different display and or adapter (or use a different connector by using DVI instead of VGA, for instance).
Reset the systemYou can reset the Mac's parameter RAM and SMC.Reset the resolutionStart by resetting the Mac's parameter RAM. If the display does not come up, was previously set to an unsupported resolution, and still results in no video:
    Start up in Safe Mode.
From the Apple () menu, choose System Preferences.
Choose Displays from the View menu to open the preferences pane.
Select any resolution and refresh rate that your display supports.
    Restart your computer.

This sounds the same as my issue. I was browsing in Firefox v6.0 last night and all of a sudden it closed with no notice or error message. When I tried to open FF I received the messaga; We're Sorry - Firefox had a problem and crashed. We'll try to restore your tabs and windows when it restarts." I does not restart. I have been using IE to browse for a solution and nothing works other than opening as administrator. Now this problem is only on one of my laptops and is fine on my desktop and other laptops so it appears to be something specific to my laptop which is running Window XP Home and Service Pack 3.
Some suggestions were to change the profile (did not work), end the firefox.exe process in task manager (not running in processes) and delete an xpicleanup.exe (not listed).
The only thing that works is to run as administrator but I have to do this everytime. Is ther a solution?

  • Hard drive data cable issues

I have a 2010 13" Macbook pro. It was refurbished when bought in 2011, and I've had it since May of 2011. The first time I had the flashing folder with a question mark was about a year after it was bought in summer 2012, and the data cable connecting the hard drive and motherboard was replaced. I have now had the issue two more times, once in March 2013 and again March 2014. All three times I had the flashing folder with a question mark, and all three times the data cable was the issue. While I am glad the issue has not been the hard drive itself, I am really peeved that I keep having this issue, and have to be without a computer for at least a week while it's being diagnosed and repaired.
I read some other forums and the cable seems to be a fairly common issue, but I am wondering why I have had this issue 3 times in the last year and a half. I keep my computer on a cooling pad because I thought the heat caused the problem the first time, and I take very good care of it. Does any one have any ideas what could cause the data cable to have issues? Could it be something I am doing, or have I just been unlucky and gotten faulty cables? I don't want to have to replace this every year, it's getting a little ridiculous.
Thanks in adavance for any input!

  • Help! pc to new iMac - HDD not 'seen' on pc... ethernet cable issue too!

    Hi all
I just got my new iMac a few days ago and I've tried the ethernet cable and my mac can see the folders on the pc but wont open them! (the original item cannot be found)
my ethernet cable isn't linked to the mac now but I can still see my computer in finder... both have the wireless going.. how do I 'choose' the ethernet cable.. maybe that's why it's not working?
I've now got a western digital Studio edition 500mb external harddrive - I've plugged that into the mac and all is well... I was hoping I could then plug it into the pc and drag all the files over (65gigs) and then I can transfer them to the mac.
I've used the usb cable on the pc (doesn't have firewire) and the pc does nothing!
I can't see it and I've tried clicking on the removable disc drives but it says there's nothing connected.
I know that the HDD is formatted for macs but if I format it for pcs then will I have the issue of transferring the files to the mac after?
I'm totally confused and this is driving me nuts!
the only other option I have left is to burn billions of dvds with my images and music. sob I really don't want to do that!
I would like to be able to sync my ipod and iphone to the mac and not qet my music wiped! and to get my old crappy pc off my desk.
someone heeeeeeellllllpppp please... will be very happy to get this sorted! my poor little old brain is fried!

    Thank you!
I literally just got the same info from a friend (he was away for most of the weekend) and I'm now in the process of copying the pc stuff onto the hard drive (after formatting)
transferred one pic and tried transferring it the mac and it worked... YAY!
so now back to transferring everything from the pc to the HDD now... gonna take a while but at least now I'm on the way off getting rid of the pc
Thanks for your help and response.
    (very relieved!)

  • IPod Touch with Composite AV Cable: Issues

I purchased the new $50 composite AV cable when it was released a few months back. I've been using it frequently with no real issues (whenever I play a video, my iPod recognizes that it is connected to a TV and prompts me to choose whether or not to display the video on the TV). However, as of this week it no longer prompts me, and I cannot find a way to manually select "TV Out" without first being automatically prompted by my iPod. I recently installed 1.1.3 with the January upgrade. The only other thing I can think of that I've done differently recently is that I used the composite AV cable to charge an older iPod model, which I had never tried before, but I doubt that would have any affect on the cable itself. Anyone else having this problem? Why is there not a manual "TV Out" option for the iPod Touch to avoid this issue altogether?

I havent had any issues with my Apple AV composite cable. Ive been using it for the last month or so and has also worked since the 1.1.3 firmware and software upgrade. I suggest you call apple tech support you have a 1 year warrenty on those cables.

  • Apple Composite AV Cable issues

Just bought the Apple branded Composite AV Cable for my Iphone, but I'm having some issues, it works for some minutes, or seconds and then I get the message "This accessory is not made for iphone" and then the video stops to play on tv.
I'm on firmware 1.1.2, can anyone help me?

    Hey cybeard,
Try using the cable without the dock. Make sure the dock connector on the iPhone is clean, brush away any dirt or lint.
You can also try restoring the iPhone, http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305744
If that does not work you can request repair for the iPhone or cable online here:

  • Micro USB cable issue

    Hi everyone,
I bought my Z1 a month ago, and always used the cables I already had to connect it to my PC or on car charger, and the wall charger I have since my SGS2.
Today I tried the brand new one out of the box of the phone, and surprise, it doesn't work properly: connection is not stable, moving the cable causes connection or disconnection very quickly.
    Does anyone had this problem?
Is it possible to get a new working cable?
    Thank you

That might be a hardware issue, take it to a Sony repair center and/or back to the store

  • Thunderbolt Cable Issue

    Hi all.
This is an informational post. I have a MacBook Air but this is probably applicable to anyone who uses Thunderbolt cables. I had purchased a Seagate Goflex Drive and a Goflex Thunderbolt adapter along with an Apple Thunderbolt Cable. Initially worked well but I suddenly had a series of problems. First the drive crapped out for some reason and would not mount with USB or FW800 so it was replaced. The Thunderbolt adapter also seemed to crap out and it was also replaced by Seagate. When I got everything back the drive worked fine with USB and FW800 adapters but the Thunderbolt adapter would still not mount the drive. That left the cable or the computer. I went to Apple store and they checked the cable and they test it with Thunderbolt monitors and told me it was probably a problem with the computer. I was skeptical and asked them if they would exchange the cable anyways. They were nice enought to do. The Thunderbolt cable is expensive and primarily because the cable contains quite a bit of electronics inside the connectors. I got the new cable home pluged it in and the drive mounted normally and everything is fine.
So this is a cautionary tail about the Thunderbolt cables you can have a problem mounting a drive and not have a problem using the same cable with a monitor.
I only worry about the cable I left behind at the store probably to be sold to someone else.
    Cheers
    P

Thank you, I was struggling with this thunderbolt, cause my macbook can't read the hard drive now, maybe the warm the end issue is the cause of this problem, apple need to fix it. I'm going to the apple store to ask for exchange another cable today. it's kinda scary, i haven't back up any of my files yet

  • F ireWire 400 to 800 cable issues

    Hi Forum,
after getting my new Mac Pro 8 core with Snow Leopard I have connected my FireWire Devices with help 0f 400 to 800 cables as there is no FW 400 port anymore. My Devices are an Elgato EyeTV 200 and a MOTU ultralight.
The EyeTV device is not recognized and the MOTU does appear in the system profiler but not in the in the Audio Midi Setup....
Are you aware of any issues with that kind of cables?
    Thanks
    Oliver

    Hi!
I am not sure if this is the right forum group, but a quick question:
Did you have any trouble operating / connecting your Pinnacle moviebox after installing Snow Leopard? I used it for digitising my vhs / hi8 recordings on my Leopard system, but after installing Snow Leopard on my MacBook, it has stopped working.

  • Nokia 6303i reinstall software issue

    Hi all,
Here's the deal. I connected my 6303i to Ovi suite and checked for sw updates. Didn't find any new updates but it offered to reinstall current sw version (10.80). I've been using my phone for some time and I thought a reinstall would be a good idea - to get a fresh start. However, after downloading the sw, somewhere in the middle of installing it Ovi suite says something like "Device connection lost; unplug usb cabel, reinsert it and press OK"; did that a couple of times and always got the same message. Finally I gave up and canceled sw installation - got a scary warning message that my phone can stop working. I started my phone and everything seems to be ok - I even got back 2 of the games I had previously deleted. Now I'm wondering what went wrong during the reinstall. If anyone has an idea, please share. Also, how does reinstall work - does it recover original firmware from a rom or something if reinstall fails?
I also notice something else that seems weird. I previously installed a theme and then deleted it. However, when I restore factory settings (settings only, not all) - and even after the sw reinstall attempt -  I see a quick flash of the wallpaper of that deleted theme when the phone restarts. Not that it's such big a deal, but it bugs me that I don't what causes this - wallpaper stored in some temp memory that hasn't been flushed or what? Any ideas?
    Thanks

    Hello funny name,
idea behind re-installing fw is to remove any bugs from your phone or it is useful only when you have some fw issues, if your phone is working fine don't even bother to re-install fw as it is usuall the same what you already have,
if you still want to do the re-install use nokia software updater, it is a one time free download of almost 35MB, and is available on nokia site,
i use it and it works fine. (sorry, replying from my 6303i so cannot give you short cut to link)
maximum complains i have seen about fw update are from people who use ovi suite to update their fw,
idiots at nokia should take a note of this,

  • USB Cable issue

    Hia ll
I just bought the Mark Space software to sync my TX with my MBP, and my first sync worked wonderfgully via bluetooth. However, I have a wireless mighty mouse, and I had issues with them both (its not possible to use both items at the same time).
So I recovered from a lost drawer the USB cable which came with the Palm TX and have tried many times to connect, tried all the USB ports, tried the suggestions on the MarkSpace page, using Profiler and refreshing, etc. No Go. Is it possibel that the cable is damaged? It makes a bleep noise when I connect.... but it cant seem to connect. Ive triple checked the preferences on the coneection type on the TX, did a soft reset, etc.
    Thanks
    J

The secret to synchronized mail is IMAP. Seriously. It is literally impossible to 'synchronize' mail using POP3 clients. It can be done, sort of, in a kind of a hacked, sloppy workaround, but conversion to IMAP is the key.
Not all providers allow for IMAP accounts. There is an Exchange IMAP option, it's available with .Mac and AOL or AIM Mail accounts, but not with Gmail or Hotmail, for example. Many commercial ISPs provide for it, but some major players like Comcast do not. Mac OS X Server uses Cyrus to provide both IMAP and POP3, so if you are running your own mail server in house using OS X Server or a comparable product, then it's a given that you can use it.
Unlike POP3, IMAP stores your messages on the server where all IMAP clients can essentially 'view' them through what is essentially a window into your server provided by each client. You can selectively copy these messages to a folder on your Macintosh in Mail, for example, and use any client to copy, move or delete messages. It's far more powerful and flexible than POP3, and you'll wonder why you every used that technology once you've moved to IMAP. I see the same view no matter which of several IMAP clients I use, on any of my IMAP accounts. Versamail now supports IMAP, though many Palm users opt for SnapperMail from SnapperFish, instead.
The Missing Sync for Palm OS allows some control over where data is stored on your device, but most decisions are made for you by either the Palm OS or a Missing Sync conduit. Photos, for example, move between iPhoto and and available built-in storage on your handheld, or on a supported SD card.
Incidentally, your T|X supports 802.11 WiFi, and the Missing Sync for Palm OS also supports synchronization via WiFi. You can easily configure that using the Network Synchronization Assistant under its Help menu. Faster and 'cooler' than Bluetooth, in my estimation. That's one way to deal with the cordless mouse interference issue!
