Beginning Balance of Accumulated Repair Cost and Budget Control

Hi All,
My client has two requirements which I have problems working on in SAP.
1. How do we put the beginning balance of accumulated repair cost of each equipment? Example Equipment A had $ 40, 000 worth of repairs prior to the company's use of SAP, and this balance becomes the initial balance during repair cost reporting (thus if the first work order issued for that equipment in the SAP system costs $5,000, accumulated cost in cost analysis shatll be $45, 000 alread) .
2. How do we implement budget control in Plant Maintenance, such that a work order that is over budget cannot be released? or needs to be approved by another more superior user before release?

I suspect the only way to do this without Asset Accounting is to create a bespoke ABAP report. You would also need a customer table to hold the repair cost/equipment data. Alternatively, if you have a cost object per equipment (say cost centre) then you could add this value to the cost centre. Either way I would discuss the issue with you finance team first.
In terms of budgetting; this can be done 3 ways:
- Investment programs (IM)
- Projects and WBS (PS)
- Individual maintenance orders (PM)
You can set threshold parameters which determine if the order can be released..

Good Morning dear friends!
Now, I'm dealing with a problem with PS module.
I need to select from DB the data of PEP elements related to costs and budgets in a determined period.
I have two tables that the functional person have passed to me: RPSCO and COEP.
But when I access the CNS41 transaction, the values that appears there are incompatible with the values of the tables. I've saw that are differences that distinguish real values from planned values, budgets and costs.
But I don't have the values yet that appear at CNS41 transaction.
Anyone already dealed with this problem or know about this information in PS?
P.S. I've used the ST05 transaction to map the tables used, but this didn't work.

Hi Joe,
You can get revenues into BPC in exactly the same way you would load project costs. Either via BW InfoProvider or via flat-file load. Generally in BPC Netweaver, building a BW InfoProvider will be the most advantageous way to move data into the system for things like Revenue that should reside in your Enterprise Data Warehouse in any case.
Of course, the most difficult part of this is not going to be loading the data itself, but rather determining the process by which your business will map revenue onto projects, then building and testing this process in whatever system you decide to use to stage your data.

what is the differnce between budget and budget control system. is it possible in sap each po (purchase order) wise budget.if its possible in sap please provide config steps.

In SAP, we can use IO, PS, FM to make the budget. The budget control system is a sub-module of FM. If you want to get some config step, please kindly refer SAP Best Practises.

Cost Center Budget Control

Dear Friends,
SAP has provision of entering budgets for cost centers. But whether it will have budget control or not.
I have checked but there is no control.
Please advise that it is having real budget control or not.

hi Rajesh,
as far as I know, there is no real budget control. You only enter plan values and you see in reporting if you spent more (or less) than the planned 'budget' but that is all.
There is real budget control in PS for example.

Hey Chandu,
budgeting is possible in Costcenters. Availability control is not possible. It can be done only for internal orders.
Availability Control helps you to recognize if possible budget overruns in time and can automatically trigger different actions & you configure availability control for each budget profile.
And this is activated only at internal order level not at cost center level.
If you want to budgeting for cost centers, goto KPZ2. But here U cannot do it cost element wise. U can do it cost center wise for each period. If U want it at cost element level do it using KP26.
Later U can draw the report using Information system plan/budget/actual variance report.

It explains clearly the benefits of BCS as well as migration tools that SAP provides. If you do not have some non-standard enehancements in your Former Budgeting, then migration won't be a problem.

FSG - Need to find beginning balance value from current year

Hi,
Could any one help me please,
i designed FSG report and the issue is we need to find the beginning balance form the current year
and i do not know which amount type i should use in column set.
maybe there is any way or workaround for this issue?
example :
when i run the report with parameter JUN-12, the XXX (beginning balance current year) = 5000
and when i run the report with parameter SEP-12, the XXX (beginning balance current year) is still 5000

This is some of the worst SQL I have seen. The data element names change from table to table, and they violate ISO-11179 rules. We seldom use OUTER JOINs in a properly designed schema, we seldom need to worry about NULLs; we use COALESCE(), not ISNULL();
we use CURRENT_TIMESTAMP, not getdate(), etc.
Did you know that nesting scalar subqueries will screw any hope of optimization? The changes in the formatting of program text implies that many different, inexperienced younger programmers who wrote in many different non-SQL languages. You even posted in colors,
like grade school!
My guess is that everyone wrote a query without any planning, and then threw them together in one pile.

Project Costings and Budgeting in cProjects 4.5

Hi Experts,
I want to understand can we do the project planning,costings and budgeting in cprojects 4.5? as we do in PS.
Can we capture the costs like materials, admin, etc on cprojects 4.5?
If yes then please let me know how?
Also what is the SAP best practice to mapped this costing and budgeting scenarios in integration of cprojects and PS?

Hello Aryan,
To my knowledge costing and budgeting are not the functionalities of cProject unlike the PS. Material costs cannot be captured using cProjects on the other hand you can definitely integrate them with IO's, triggering their creation etc.
I'm looking up to the forum for the Best Practice as well. Please advice.

Beginning Balance and Ending Balance Calculation

Hi all,
I have got a critical requirement for my report.
I have to calculate Opening and Closing Balances for every month
Beginning balance amount of current month = Ending balance amount of previous month.
and Ending Balance = Beginning Balance + Transactions(data available)
My Beginning Balance amount initially will be loaded from Flat file.
For the first month I will go with a calculated Keyfigure and calculate my ending Balance.
Now, this ending balance of current month will be beginning balance of next month.
The problem is for the second month if i want ending balance, how to hold that data, as that is a calculation.
Secondly, if the data is for current period..that's fine, but if i have to see previous months data, how to get it??

Make a cell reference to the previous month in your query designer. I don't have any specific information available at this point, but I have done the exact same thing in the past and we could make it working using cell references. There's enough documentation available if you want to know the ins&outs of this.

You cannot get warranty or out of warranty service in India on a US purchased phone. The warranty on the iPhone is not international.
