Best way to store data from a plot on hard drive

I have a DAQ set-up that will be on 24/7 for several days, and the whole time it's streaming data to an XY-Graph with a limited buffer.  My question is, what's the best way to store my plot data in such a way that I can empty out my plot every few hours but if I want to pull up data from a few hours ago I would just have an option on my initial VI to view any old saved plot data.
Basically, I'm trying to not overload my RAM with all my plot data so I'd like to save it to the hard drive while my VI is running, and only display, for example the last 8 hours worth of data... I've been looking at TDMS, but I'm not sure if that's the right solution.
much thanks!

Hi,
You could save your data using TDMS as well as ASCII to simply load it in another application later.
Attached VI shows you how to save your data to a File after a certain amount of iterations, you can combine this then with your code and a timestamp.

  • What could be the best way to Export data from 11.5.8 instance to 12.1.2?

    Hi All
What could be the best way to Export data from 11.5.8 instance to 12.1.2?
    Release: 11.5.8
OS: Oracle Solaris on SPARC (32-bit) verison 9
    DB: 9.2.0.1
    Thanks in advance

What kind of data you are looking to move?
Database export/import is only supported for full database export/import and the application release should be the same on the source/target nodes.
You can move the setup using iSetup or FNDLOAD.
    Thanks,

What is the best way to transfer data from a PC to an iMac?

If you know how to set up a computer-to-computer Ethernet network, then you can give that a try, but a hard drive will be faster than Ethernet unless you don't have a lot to transfer.

  • Best way to extract data from archived cube

    Hello Experts,
Can anyone tell me best way to extract data from archived cube.
Basically I am trying to pull all the data from archived cube and then load it into another brand new infoprovider which is in different box.
Also I need to extract all the master data for all infoobjects.
I have two options in my mind:
    1) Use open hub destination
    or
    2) Infoprovider>display data>select the fields and download the data.
Is it really possible to extract data using option (2) if records are too high and then load it into another infoprovider in new system.
Please suggest me the pros and cons for the two options.
Thanks for your time in advance.

    Hello Reddy,
Thanks a lot for your quick reply.
Actually in my case I am trying to extract archived infocube data and then load it into new infoprovider which is in different system. If I have connectivity I can simply export data source from archived infocube and then reload into new infoprovider.
But there is no connectivity between those two systems (where archived cube is and new infoprovider) and so I am left with the two options I mentioned.
    1) Use Open Hub
    or
    2) Extract data manually from infoprovider into excel.
Can anyone let me know which of the two options is the best and also I doubt on how to use excel in extracting data as excel have limit of no.of records 65536
    Thanks

  • Recovering data from a newly formatted hard drive

Has anyone had any experience with programs that recover data from a newly formatted hard drive?  There seem to be a lot of programs out there to do this, but, a) do they work, and b) which one worked best for you?

Ive had so and so success with a freeware utility called "Recuva"
    http://www.recuva.com/
Its from the makers of CCleaner.

What is the best way to copy aperture library on to external hard drive? I am getting a message that say's "There was an error opening the database. I am trying to drag libraries (with metadata) to external HD...wondering what the best way to do that is?

    How is the drive attached?
Can you open large files on the drive with other programs?
Are you running any drive compression or acceleration programs (some drives arrive with these installed)?
Can you reformat the drive and try again?
    Hi Kirby,
I attached the UltraMax Plus with a USB cable. The UltraMax powers the cable so power is not an issue. I can open other files. Also, there is 500GB of files on the drive so I cannot re-format it. Although, I noted I could import the entire Aperture Library. However, I do not want to create a duplicate on my machine because that would be defeating the purpose of the external drive.

  • How do I transfer all data from my old internal hard drive to a new internal hard drive

How do I transfer all data from my old internal hard drive to a new internal hard drive? I have an iMac with a 320gb internal HD that is full and I am replacing it with a 2tb internal drive. I have several external drives; 1 tb, 2tb and 3 tb. The 2 tb is being used for Time Machine. Do I have to buy an enclosure? If so, where would I get an inexpensive one?
I also want to partition the new internal drive for Windows, and I'm not sure how much space to use for that. I plan to use Windows to check my work in PowerPoint created on my Mac for clients on PCs.

Do you already have Time Machine making backups onto the 2TB drive? If so, after you get the internal drive replaced, boot up into the recovery partition (hold down ⌘R) and restore the latest Time Machine backup that you have onto the new internal drive.
I recommend always having two backups. I'd use SuperDuper to make a complete clone of your internal drive onto an external drive in addition to having the Time Machine backup.
Boot Camp is what is used to make partitions for Windows. How much space to allocate depends on how much space you expect Windows to use up based on how you plan to use it.

Can I retreive data from my iPhone 4 hard drive without the sim?

There is no hard drive in an iPhone, it is all solid state memory. If the phone is working you can always copy content from it. If it is not you will need to restore and activate it, and that requires a SIM card.

  • SHAREPOINT QUESTION: One way SYNC of files from SharePoint cloud to hard-drive

SHAREPOINT QUESTION: One way SYNC of files from SharePoint cloud to hard-drive
How does a person enable Sales reps to SYNC literature files from a cloud library down to their computer,.... but then not be able to have them accidentally delete the files by accident if they delete a file from their computer and then have it
    sync upwards again.
    Permission Level
"Read" allows to download individual files but not SYNC down and there are too many files for them to go and download each file every-time.
"View Only" is only visible on the browser and not useful when reps are in remote parts of the world.
"Contribute" allows the sales reps to SYNC but if they delete a file from their computer, then it deletes it for all which is to much.
There must surely be a way to allow a one way (cloud-to-hard-drive) SYNC to avoid folks from deleting files.
Does anybody know how to d this or if not, how do I have Microsoft consider such a perceived weakness compare to dropbox

You can achieve the functionality which you describe using the OneDrive (SkyDrive Pro) in Sharepoint 2013. You can setup read only folders to sync to achieve "one way" traffic. You will need Office 2013 locally to avail the full features of
the coauthoring environment if you are looking into that as well.

Some benefits of using OneDrive include the following:
Users can take their documents offline with them and have them synchronize when they are online again.
Users' documents can be synchronized across all client devices and servers where the files are stored and synchronized.
Multiple users (online or offline) can work on documents at the same time, and the OneDrive for Business Windows Sync client will synchronize the changes between the users. If there are conflicts, users are prompted to resolve the conflicts.
Users can share and collaborate on documents.
Users can work from many locations, either online or offline, and work from many devices.

  • Best way to store movies from iTunes

I have several movies I purchased from iTunes on my computer. Now I want to free up some space on my hard drive. What is the best way to store them off my computer so I can access them again in the future?

I believe you can do Back up to Disc and burn them as Data Discs. (Be sure to check your burning preferences first.) You won't be able to view them from the burned discs, but you can use them to restore to your library. Burning the movie itself....I doubt you can get it to fit on one CD. Another option would be to invest in an external drive. I hear they're pretty affordable.

  • Best way to transfer data from other computer

I'm wondering what is the fastest, or most reliable way to transfer data from another computer to my G5. I've skimmed through manual for G5 and it seems to list several options, if I'm understanding it correctly.
    1. Using Airport Extreme
    2. Using Bluetooth
    3. Hooking up a local Ethernet connection
    4. Setting up a Firewall connection?
I want to be able to transfer a completed iDVD project created on an iMac G3 to my G5 for burning the DVD. And which method (if any) will work with a non-Mac computer?
Anyone know the advantages, disadvantages of the transfer methods?
    ccCarol

If you have a high-speed connection, another easy & fast way to transfer files between computers is through AIM (AOL Instant Messenger).
iChat has the same ability of transferring large files as AIM.

  • Is The Best Way To Update OS to "Zero Out" eMac Hard Drive?

Ok, so I've got the OEM Apple eMac Tiger installation discs and
will be updating to Tiger 10.4+ in the next week or so.
Here's my question: Is it better to "Zero" out the eMac Hard Drive
(using the Apple installer/utility disc), or better to just proceed
with the Tiger installation and select for my previous Apple OS 10.2.8
to be automatically "archived" during the Tiger installation?
I would assume that the "Zeroing out" process would be the best, even though
the actual process of "Zeroing" the Hard Drive takes quite a long time.
Any suggestions on the best way to prepare the Hard Drive for the Tiger
    installation would be appreciated.

Is it better to "Zero" out the eMac Hard Drive
Only if you're erasing sensitive data or experiencing problems with the existing system.

  • Transfer data from mac to external hard drive

I am new to macs and am a bit lost.
I have a made up external hard drive (internal hard drive in a case) - TOSHIBA MK8025GAS Media. It is connected to the mac via USB.
I have been using it to transfer data from my pc to mac. The mac sees it and i can copy things from the hard drive to mac without problems. What i cannot do is to transfer from the mac onto the hard drive.
I pulled up the mac info of the hard drive and its both writable and ejectable (Has two partitions). In the partitions the info states that the owners aren't enabled, cannot turn owners off and cannot be formatted. Also the S.M.A.R.T. status is not supported. Not usre what all this means!
Can anyone tell me how to set it up to be able to transfer files to the hard drive from the mac and if it is possible to still transfer from windows to the hard drive?
    Thank you in advance.

    Thank you for the info.
A friend also told me that i could erase the hard drive using the disk utility in ms dos format. I have tried this and then could also partition it afterwards.
At the moment this seems to be working in both Mac and PC.
One thing i have noticed is when i try to transfer disk images (over 4Gb), near the end i get an 'unexpected error occured' (error code 1309).
    From the internet:
error -1309 fileBoundsErr: file's EOF offset mark or size is too big
    Whatever this means?

  • Recovering erased data from a back-up hard drive

    Hello,
I erased a folder full of data on my back-up hard drive (Western Digital), and need to recover if it possible. I deleted it and then emptied my Trash, but have not written over it yet. How can I recover this folder? Thanks.

Try using an application such as Data Rescue or FileSalvage.
