BEWARE **DOORSTEP SCAMMERS*****

BEWARE OF SALESMEN CALLING DOOR TO DOOR - LYING AND ATTEMPTING FRAUD
On Friday I had a knock at the door.  It was two young studenty type men in their early 20s
They introduced themselves as being "from your local telephone exchange".  They said they "were calling in connection with the letter sent to me last week".
Now I didn't have a letter from my local telephone exchange last week...In fact I'm pretty sure that my local telephone exchange doesn't send out letters....so I was immediately suspicious of these characters.
Both seem to have some ID badge, but this was cleverly tucked into their jacket and hidden....However he hadn't been as careful in hiding the lanyard attached to the hidden badge...and this lanyard poking out beneath his jacket revealed that he was actually from another ISP.    Yes....he lied, he wasn't from the telephone exchange at all.
I simply told him I had no letter, and I didn't want to buy anything he was selling.
He replied that he wasn't selling anything (another lie) and that he was from the local telephone exchange and wanted to collect the letter about the government upgrade to the broadband in the area.
I repeated that I didn't want to buy anything from him and shut the door.
In hindsight i should have kept him talking, to get more details of the scam.
If I had kept talking and said I hadn't received the non-existent letter, apparently the next step is that they offer to "check your phone line to make sure it is upgradeable".  They invite themselves into your home with the lie that they are checking the line...and eventually produce a copy of this pretend letter for you to sign.....Only the pretend letter is a contract to switch your home phone and broadband to another ISP.
The purpose of my post is to warn people to be careful if you get a doorstep visit from the sales scam team,  and also to ask BT why aren't you doing something about this?
It must be illegal.   Do I report them to BT?  Ofcom?  Trading Standards?  the Police?

They are from a respected (or, at least, profitable) company. You do sometimes see the odd over-enthusiastic salesman at your front door.
I had exactly the same situation some years ago with anothe ISP. He was coming to check my telephone line (please be ready see us tomorrow).. After a few questions I pinned him down to "I'm trying to save you some money". Poor long suffering individual!
If you are suspicious, ask to see a copy of  his Traders License. It's difficult to think of that, at the time, however.
I have a "No Cold Callers" sticker, issued by the County Council, on display. If push comes to shove you can always point to it politely.

  • Beware ! * * * Scammers sending realistic looking Verizon bills !

Just this morning I received two emails that were displayed as from "[email protected]".
The first email said: "Your current bill for your account is now available online in My Verizon         Total Balance Due: $968.85".
All the formatting and graphics were almost perfectly identical to the real Verizon Wireless email, except that all the clickable links go to: "termaloteller.tk/iuqBjDM1/index.html"
The second email was a "Thank you for your payment" and said:
Here are the details of your payment confirmation.
    Payment Amount: $1747.97
    Payment Method: Master Card
This time all the links go to: "www.ceaargentina.org.ar/KReR2AAm/index.html"
These bills are outrageously high to get you panicked and clicking their links impulsively.  That gets you to their site were they can load maleware on to your system.
Bottom line:  If it looks outrageous or unbelievable, it probably is!

Since his contract is not completed, he is not eligible for Edge.   He is eligible for Early Edge -- if his iPhone wasn't broke.
Early Edge is an early upgrade program that lets you get out of your contract early.  In return, you must return your current phone in good working order and your selection of phones is limited to the one promotional phone currently being offered, the Droid Turbo currently.
Be glad you didn't do anything because if you had, you would had to send the iPhone back unbroken.  When they found it was broken, you would have been charged $300 or so.
Option ion right now are an older phone from friends or family, a used phone from Swappa, or full priced S6.  He will need to wait until November for upgrade pricing or regular Edge.

  • BEWARE THE SCAMMERS

This really isn't a question but rather a warning. I nearly fell for a scammer offering a Macbook Pro at a very attractive rate and wanting to do payment via western union money transfer. It is a very tempting offer and one which seems perfectly legitimate, especially when, like me, you've been trying to get hold of a Mac of your own for quite sometime.
Truth is I was 48 hours away from seeing my hard earned student money leave and never be seen again, happened to stumble across a link that described the exact same situation I was in... take care everyone, and make sure you pass on the word, I'm sure apple would hate to know this was happening!
If your interested, here's the link:
    http://resources.alibaba.com/topic/28123/WesternUnion_Safe_or_not.htm

The Western Union routine is a known scam that's been around a while. More often than not these guys pop up on eBay. Thanks for reminding us that they are still out there so we can watch out.

  • Scammers

Beware of scammers phoning you to say they are from O2. they have access to details of your account including your billing amount and ask for payment then the scam continues, they take payment from your card having pretended to be O2 and tect back a so called receipt of payment which is headed as UK which was the reason we then found out the scam. They have an automated sytem when you call them back claimimg to be O2 bill payment. Watch out for the following numbers calling you0800111612108009524874They have access to your personal details which they must have hacked from O 2 take care

  • Beware Of These Scammers On Facebook & Skype !!!

I have just been scammed by this girl..few days later she scammed my friend...she revealed to my friend that she was actually a guy from philippines. I havent told my friend that she blackmail me as i didnt wanna spark any curiosity among my friends.
She has a video of me....u know....so.....yea she blackmailed me...(USD3000) she posted a video of me with my name on youtube...i flagged it and it was taken down within mins...she threatened me again and posted the video on my wall....i quickly took it down, half way through her threatening i pretended that i didnt get any reply from her...i was going " hello anyone there?....hello?" and she would reply saying "dont bull**bleep** me!" I just kept on pretending because even during my skype session with her there were actually connection problems and we had to call each other back and forth. So i ended with "no point talking to no one there".
So after that i blocked her account in facebook and skype....the thing that worries me is that she still have facebook links to my family and friends because before this my setting in facebook was that everyone can see my stuff. Now that i put it to "only me" can she still contact my families and friends???
Anyway i reported her account to facebook....it was then taken down....few hours later a female stranger gave me afriend request but i didnt accept it....i knew it for sure it was her....and i was right.....she threatened me again with a message that i cant run away from her and that she has the original video and links to my familes and friends and that my video is on youtube again....which to my knowledge doesnt exist...ive searched my name...anyway i just ignored her all the way
Today is wednesday morning.....this thing happened on monday morning......still no messages from her or from my friends saying that they receive any video....am i clear???....im still hoping....
My friend posted a screen shot of her conversation with him and it appears that he has 3 different facebook accounts....2 pretty chinese girls and 1 malay guy.......here is the info given
    First Name : Enrico
    Last Name : Gonzales
    Address : Cagayan
City : Cagayan De Oro City
    Country : Philippines

first, I think you should immediately stop communicating with that user, and end all connections with them. Delete and block them in your social media accounts and other avenues that have been used to communicate with them.  Most likely if they sense that they will get nothing from you, they may just move to their other potential targets.
Then you can report them to [email protected], so Skype can check and investigate their account and possibly suspicious activities. I think they can do actions against their accounts such as suspending them or making them ineligible to use Skype services.
However, it seems Skype is only limited doing actions against their Skype accounts. So if you feel still necessary, you can also consider reporting this matter to your local police. Then your local police can contact Skype (most likely they already know how) to request for information or assistance that may possibly help them in their investigations.

  • Beware of Verizon Home Fusion Service - DO NOT BUY

    Warning! Warning! Warning!
Do not do business with Verizon
They will do everything possible to steal from you.
They are worse than the government. They are worse than the big banks. They are worse than the airlines.
Hidden fees? Check. Lies from store associates? Check. False advertising? Check.
The degree to which Verizon is able to rob its customers without government intervention or a class-action lawsuit is unbelievable.
If you make the mistake of signing up for a Home Fusion account, here is the agony you will suffer:
    1) Unlike any other form of home internet, you will be locked into a 2-year contract. You will not be told about this. You will not be asked to sign any paperwork. You will just be locked into a contract and then threatened with a $350 fee if you try to cancel your service - even if you're dissatisfied with the quality of the internet connection.
    2) Every month, you will be charged a hidden "$20 access fee" in addition to the fee you pay for your data. So if you think you're going to be paying $90 a month for internet, get ready for a rude surprise that you'll actually be paying $110 per month.
    3) You will also be charged $15 for every GB you go over for your plan. Verizon of course is hoping that you will go over so they can slap you with feesor upgrade you to a more expensive plan.
    4) You will be shown one price and then charged another. If you visit the website for Home Fusion or review the prices shown in marketing materials, you will see that 30GB plans are $120 per month. You will sign up for that plan, then receive your bill and discover that Verizon wants to charge you $185 a month instead. They will never tell you about this discrepancy, they will just start charging you whatever you want. Don't like the abuse? You can always cancel and Verizon will charge you a $350 cancellation fee.
You will be ripped off. You will be disrespected. You will be lied to.
For your own sake, please do not sign up for Verizon Home Fusion and if you can... do not sign up for any Verizon services. I am cancelling all of my plans because of the poor treatment I have received.
I've attached to this post the fake pricing that Verizon shows on their site. This is not the pricing they will actually charge you when you sign up. Buyer beware.

I'm sorry you are going through this.   I hope you let Customer service know the cost is almost double what you were told.
This seems to be a common complaint with this type of service.  I think it's a shock how much internet service we can consume.   Most customers sign up for just a few GB and keep getting hit with big overage charges.
I use Cable internet and have a 300 GB "allowance", but they don't charge for overage.   You would think that too much and we would never come close.  But every month we are just about up to the max.   With cable TV cut to the bone, we use Streaming players a lot and they use a lot of data.
You do have a contract you can view online.   In "My Verizon"  under "My Profile", choose Documents/receipts.
This lists your records and view in PDF provides the details.
I'm guessing they add equipment cost "rental" on every month .   And then the crazy high taxes and FCC fees also.
Do they add "repeaters" inside also that they charge for monthly?

  • BEWAR field needs to be changed on the document

    hello guys,
I would like to ask you if its possible to change BEWAR field in already posted document?
I went to SPRO on change line item but its not possible to add the field BEWAR - transaction type.
there is only ANBWA field but this is not required.
The document is AA - asset posting
thansk in advance for your feedback
    Hana

    Hi,
Field BEWAR in Asset Accounting controls various system activities when any transaction is posted.. so it is not possible to change this field in a posted document.
Reverse the transaction (AB08) and Repost with the correct transaction type.

Verizon won't allow me to apply the $14.13 that they owe me on the electronic gift card that they forced me to take as payment. What a bunch of sleazy scammers!!! With all the billiuons of dollars that you guys make, why do you have to scam me out of my $14? I was told by on line chat that i could buy screen protectors with it. Ha! Or redeem it in the store. AT the store I was told I could redeem it online. Why do you guys have to cheat people and make so many hoops to jump through that all I want to do is never use your services again? You alienate me, all for $14. How much am I and all the influnce that i have over my friends and family worth to you guys? Obviously less than $14. FYI, I have started a social media campaign exposing your sleazy business pratcies!!! Thanks!

Have you tried using it for purchase with customer service over the phone. I have used gift cards to pay part of my bill through the phone or online.

  • Beware apple store iPhone replacement program

Beware apple store iPhone replacement program:
We took my daughters broken iphone 4 into an apple store and was told that the damage was not covered under warrany but for only £120 we could get a replacement iphone 4
the problem being when they helped her set  up the replacement Iphone 4 they installed os7 as the opperating system rendering the phone useless as it now runs slow, freezes & cannot use messaging at all etc
we went back to the store hoping they could HELP  &  were told that the iphone should not have these problems & to do a full restore; as it turns out the processing chip cant handle os7 which becomes Very apparent & now the store staff are suggesting that they will upgrade the phone to something newer & give us a £60 discout towards a new phone for something we paid them £120 48hr earlier.
Its not the Apple experience we have all come to love can anyone suggest how we might restore the phone to an earlier opperating system

  • Filed BEWAR in transaction F-51, F-44 is greyed out, not editable

    Hello Gurus,
I would like to ask you one thing. We are using transaction F-51 to post with clearing. When we enter the line with the GL account and amout, automatically the line with vendor is marked for correction. In this company is due to validation as the transaction type BEWAR is missing. When we want to correct the line, we go to further data, then the field is not editable.
So my question is if always this field is greyed out or if this is a matter of customizing, If this is the second option where in customizing  we can find this
thanks a lot in advance for your feedback
    regards
    Hana

    HI,
Unfortunetly you cannot enter in field BSEG-BEWAR manually in transaction F-44.
The field BEWAR is not part of the index tables. Therefore it can't be transferred from the open item to the clearing line.
    above is not posiable.

Could you please guide me what could be the reason .
I did search before posting this question ,  but not able to find any relavent ones.
I am aware of the function configuration using OB41, but not sure if the issue is related to the same.
    Please assist.

    Hi,
BEWAR field is Transaction type field. Check whether Transaction type is missing in your document.
The issue is not related to OB41.

  • Buyer Beware,What good is buying the protection!!!!!

Took my Sub Woofer in for repair under warranty. This was an act of congress to begin with ( just getting them to realize it was still under warranty). Then I had to drive an hour to the closest BB and all they could do is send it off for repair ( didn't even try to look at it for repair). Then 4 days later I receive a call from the tech saying the  cost to repiar would be more than the cost to replaced and he would notify the store they needed to replace it.  So, I called the store since they didn't call me and ask about it and they said I would have to come in to process the replacement ( Which is another hour drive). Knowing that this particular store would not be able to replace it because the sub woofer was a magnolia store only item and this was not a Magnolia store ( which the closest Magnolia store is a 2 plus hour drive)  I will be making a trip for nothing except the hassel of going through the process of getting a gift card ( which who knows who will decide how much that will be for)  and then having to come home and place an oline order and wait another week or two with out a sub for my home theater. Buyer beware.

    Hi cRobin,
I’m an avid music listener, and I’m pretty particular about the quality audio when listening. I’m very aware of the importance of a subwoofer, as well as how much a good subwoofer can affect your overall audio quality! The fact that you purchased a Magnolia assortment subwoofer leads me to believe you’re also particular about the quality of music you listen to. With that said, I’m very sorry to hear that your subwoofer is having issues to the point where it sounds like it’s going to be replaced. I am however happy to know that you’re covered due to purchasing Geek Squad Protection (GSP).
As hydrogenwv alludes to, you basically have two options here, which it appears you’re aware of. It may not be a bad idea to contact the Best Buy location near you with a Magnolia department and get an idea of what subwoofer you may be able to receive as a replacement. Otherwise, I would suggest returning to your nearest Best Buy to complete the service order and obtain the gift card.
While I’m delighted that we’re replacing your subwoofer, I do apologize as it sounds like it’ll be a slight hassle due to your location in respect to where the Best Buy stores are. I appreciate you bringing your concerns to our attention on the forums! If you have any other questions, please let us know.
    Sincerely,
Brian|Senior Social Media Specialist | Best Buy® Corporate
