BEX report selection issue

Hi,
I need to resolve 2 issues related to BEX
issue 1
when I am looking for a username I need to type the exact combination of upper and lower case letters. e.g I have JOHN in the username MD and if I type John, I don't get any result.
issue 2
I would like to have the full description displayed for name. currently is only showing abbrevations and key code
how do I change these in Query designer

Hi Bhat Vaidya,
If you want the system not to distinguish capital and small letter differently, you have to make settings at the info object level.
If you want ur sys to treat JOHN and john as same , you cannot do anything at query level for that you have to change the following settings of underlying object(characterstic object)
First uncheck the check box of GENREAL tab of that INFOOBJECT MAINTAINCE screen it is becoz If this indicator is not set, the system converts all the letters into capital letters when you use a screen template to input values. During the load process or in the transformation, no conversion occurs. This means that values with lowercase letters cannot be updated to an InfoObject that does not allow lowercase letters.
As you are not allowing lowercase letters while entering value into variables any characters that you type in the variable screen, are converted automatically into capital letters.
Coming to your second query,
For that change settings in Tab Page: Business Explorer
Setting to be changed is
Description BEx
In this field, you determine the description that appears for this characteristic in the Business Explorer. You choose between the long and short descriptions of the characteristic.

BEx Reporting Format Issue

Hi,
I need to create a HR-BW BEx report in the following format.
For each employee number, i need to display following 3 rows of information:
For example, for employee number: Emp1, following 3 rowd should be present.
01 Year Of Experience
02 Years of service
03 Years in Entitlement for annual holidays
I am having required data is available in the InfoProvider from the source system. Can you please help me, how can i create the BEx report in the above specified format?

It is very easy to create such report.
1. Open the BEx Query Designer
2. IF you are using 7.0 you will see tabs with Filter and Rows/Colum
3. Goto Rows/ Column
4.You must be using KEy Figures for Years of Exp, Years of Service
drag those in the rows
5. SAve the query and execute it using the BEx Analyzer. Open Query.
Ask some ones help for the Name spacing standards you follow in your organization

Bex Report formula issue

Hi Experts,
i have a column in my report which displays number of days the order is pending, like below
Pending days.
12
24
85
65
52
I want to display an additional column where i want to display a text to it for different range of days.
like
Pending days...........Day range
12............................<15 Days
24.............................15 - 25 Days
85.............................> 50 Days
65.............................> 50 Days
52.............................> 50 Days
Can any body tell me how do i achieve this please.

Hi Mo Ahmed,
You can always implement a solution in the BI system itself.
This would fix your issue of realising this only in the query or the report itself.
Create a new InfoObject to include in you BI flow. This InfoObject will capture the range and the text.
You can fill this InfoObject with a number like Sarah proposed. 0 when the value < 15, 1 when the value is between 15 and 50 and 2 when the value is > 50.
Now in the Master Data Text table for this InfoObject, you can fill in the descriptions you want for each value.
In the final report you just include this InfoObject's Text and you should have a solution.
If this is not what you want, can you please provide some additional information about your reporting?
Which BI system do you use (BI7, BW3.x, ...), what kind of reporting (BEx Web, BEx Analyser, ...), if you the possibility to modify the BI system or only reports, ...

Bex Report display issue

Hi Experts,
I have a requirment where I want to display the details of my Service Order In and Out date wise.
Like
Ser. Order No...............Ser. Ord Date..............................................Delivery No.................Delivery Date
1000.................................01-02-2010.................................................123..................................03-02-2010
I want a report which will take the date range input (01-02-2010------20-02-2010). And display a report like below
Calander Date..............01-02-2010........02-20-2010..........03-02-2010...........04-02-2010
..........................................In---OutIn-OutIn-OutIn---Out
Ser. Ord No....................1..........0..................0.........0...............0.........1................
Please anyone help me to get the desired output. I have already posted in the forum but no body has replied me.
If I map the 0CalDay to Ser.Ord. Date then the OUT count is getting displayed in the Out Column of 01-02-2010 itself.
I'm totally out. Can't get any solution......

I tried doing this earlier and even now. When I bring the Ser ord Cr Date and Out bound Date in the Selection.
And bring the Service order Cr Date and Out Bound Date in the Column above the No. of Records.
By doing so, I'm unable to differentiate which one is Inbout and which is outbound.
The output is not very clear and understandable.
Can you please suggest me anyother alternative if any.
Or can you please let me know how can I get the Complete Calendar Dates in the Column (For Example: 1.1.10... 2.1.10....etc) irrespective of whether I have a service order created or outbound done on that day.

BEx Report : Selection Not Equal to Characteristics value 'blank' & more

Hi Experts,
I 'm working on a report where I require one of the selection criteria for a key figure to be displayed when the characteristics 'rejection code' is not empty.
So the selection would be like keyfigure: ZAMOUNT, when XREJ_CODE Not Equal to " ".
How do I achieve this?- In the restriction criteria, I can use exclude from, but how do I exclude a blank space?
Question 2.
The second selection is display keyfigure when fiscal period(user entry) is not equal to the booking period of that particular order.
Would this require Customer exit variable? how do I go about this?

if XREJ_CODE contine blank value we can use "Exclude from Selection "
Select XREJ_CODE -
>right click "restrict" -
> select blank value(#) move to right side and select that value right click select "Exclude from Selection"

Layout in selection screen of Bex report

Hi Gurus,
I have a report which is needed by many users.
Now each user has a different way to use the report
like SE wise,material wise,payer wise , each with selected key figures.
Now i have one solution that to create a seperate view for each user, but i dont want to maintain number of views.
Again i have to schedule the same report for email to diferent users through Enterprise Portal where Views are not supported
so can i have any other way to meet this requirement
Can we have layout selection in bex report selection screen ( as we have in R/3 reports) ?
( i m using BI 7.0 and EP 6.0)

Hi Sonal,
If you are using EP end, then that can be achieved at there but for the same as u already said that you have to create either views of the query or you have to create seprate query's itself and at the EP end you can define which query you want at Different selection. But at BI end there is as such no option to do so, i mean at query level .

Strange performance issue in bex report

Hello Experts,
I have a performance issue on my bex report.
I'm running the report with below selection criteria and getting 'too much data' error.
Country : equals EMEA
Category: not equlas 13
Date : 02/2010 to 12/2010.
But when I ran the report for smaller date ranges the number of records are not exceeding 13000.
02.2010 - 06.2010 - 6,555 rows
07.2010 - 09.2010 - 3,671 rows
10.2010 - 12.2010 - 2,780 rows
I know excel can't fit more than 65000 records, but I'm expecting 13000 records for my wide date range which excel can easily fit.
Any ideas on this one will be appreciated.

Hi,
For Question 1:
In query designer Go to the Query properties and select the tab "Variable Sequence", here you can set the order of variables as per you requirement.
For Question 2:
There will be a option "Hide Repeated Key values", if you uncheck this option then you will have the values for each row even though the material values are same.
Note; if you are viewing the report in web or WAD report you need to make the same changes in the Web template also because the settings in the query designer will be overridden when you run the query in web.

BEx web report selection screen entries retain when closing and opening the report again

Hello all,
please help me in the below query.
Till last month the entries we made in BEx web report selection screen are retained in the selection screen even when we close the web report and open it again from portal without logging off. But recently this functionality is missing and the entries in selection screen are not remembered when we close and open the same report again. It is a good feature for the users. Have you come across this issue?

No...I think i can reframe the question very clearly......For ex: we are opening a Bex Web report...so initally we would be prompted by the variable selection screen...in which we have to give the entries(Values) for those variables like Cal month, Sales org, Company code, etc.....Later on the report will get open based on the values we have given......
Now if we close the particular report without logging off then if i try to open the same report that selected values are missing.....earlier it used to remember the values we have given until we log off....But now that functionality is missing....It was very useful feature.....Can you please tel me what can be done to resolve this??

BEx Report Performance with selection-screen input

My Bex report is working fine when the report had run with out PLANT filter in the selection-screen but when report had run with plant in the selection-screen , report running for forever.
Please let me know what I need to do improve the performance.

Hi Saleem, Just a few thoughts;
1. Check the M-table in RSD1 for 0PLANT. In Table View edit any blank or null values. Run the same restrictions you apply in the query at Info provider level > Display Data. If there's any lapse; you can judge where exactly the problem lies.
2. If you are using Infocube & that your master is >20% fact; you can declare the Info object as 'Line Item Dimension'.
3. Create Variants. Esp. if you are running the query for same set of data. Try Variable Preselection: You can restrict both the values + varaiables in the filter level. When you execute the values will be visibly pre-selected in selection screen.
4. As discussed in previous messages, running a SQL trace using RSRT may prove useful.

BEx report hangs- selecting Alpha numeric values

I am working on the existing customer report
customer is the selection parameter for my report.
Issue is Customer has numerical and alpha numerical values.
If i give parameter rangs of value is numerical
01 - 500 query works fine
01-50cust1
50 cust1 - 195 cust2
query hangs.
Is their any way we can improve the query performance .
for searching alphanumerica values.
I have a workbook is built based on the query.
morethan 6 queries attached in the sheet 1....sheet2
each sheet has it is own query with values.
when I refresh and execute the workbook with the customer alphanumerica values it hangs.
Query is built based on the multiprovider.
Please help me onthis

Hello,
Try exporting in the 'fully formated grids and text'. It shouldl give you the 'member alias' used in the report.
Looks like if you export in the 'querry ready grids and text' it will show the 'member name' as in database although the report may have used the 'member alias'.

Issue with Variable Personalisation in Bex Report

Hi Gurus,
I'm facing a typical problem with Variable presonalisation in the Report.
I've executed a BEX Report and filtered data on some characteristics and used SAVE AS Button on the Portal to save the resultset. When I'm trying to use the variants, again say after 2 or 3 days i couldn't find updated data for particular variants upon using the same variants rather its refelecting the old data. Further more when I execute the report and try filtering on the same criteria altogether, I'm able to see updated result set.
Is there any setting to be enabled when we personalise variants or variants are dependent on the data or the date on which they are created. Not sure why the reports are behaving this way. Or Do I need to create variants time and again.
Any pointers would be of great help.

Hello,
In the BEx report, when you get the variable selection screen there input your selection and at the bottom you have the option of saving them as a variant.
Now in future when you run the report simply use this variant and execute the report. It should work fine.
Also remember date selection can be tricky. If you input todays date in the variant, it wil consider the same date in further references. So do a check on that too.

BEx report : Time diff HH:MM average Issue

below is my Issue with BEx report.
I have a table with has d1 and d2 and t1 and t2.
I want the diff between them in only HH:MM, using any of the function modules.
I have got the HH:HH value into my DSO.
Then I converted the HH:HH into HH:MM in the BEx.
Now my report requirement.
I want to display the report with yearly , monthly and daily information -
let say my boss wants to compare Average time ( HH:MM) between June and July of 2007.
the report should be
year ++++++++ month ++++++ daily ++++++++ rec#++++++++ diff
2007++++++++ June++++++++ 01++++++++ 123++++++++ 31.36
2007++++++++ June++++++++ 01++++++++ 124++++++++ 11.23
2007++++++++ June ++++++++ 03 ++++++++ 152 ++++++++ 18.21
2007++++++++ July ++++++++ 01++++++++ 157 ++++++++ 12.27
2007++++++++ July++++++++ 08 ++++++++ 124 ++++++++ 15.33
now when you look at the above report layout.....what i want is to display the average time ( diff) for month of june and july.
so the average time diff of the month of june will be ( total time / record count ). same for july.
so the result should be for
JUNE - (32.36 + 11.23 + 18.21) / 3
JULY - (12.27+15.33) / 2
also it should convert the decimals (MM) into hours after 60.
I am getting the sub total for month June as ((32.36 + 11.23 + 18.21) / 3).
Its not converting the MM in HH even after 60 Min. say for example its showning 40:67. but the correct value should be 41:07
hope you got my issue.could you please suggest the solution as to how can i get the correct value under the month sub- total.

Issue with Bex report - key Figures not populating correctly.

Hi Experts,
I am facing an issue with a Bex report. There are three key figures of data type DATE having "Dec - Counter or amount field with comma and sign" datatype. After executing the query, in the report, for some sales documents the key figure fields are coming as 'X' and rest others are coming correctly in the date format as mm\dd\yyyy.
When i check in the cube, these key figures shows values in decimal format and not in date format. The conversion is happening during execution.
Pleas show me some light on how to identify the cause of getting 'X' for some Sales documents in the report eventhough some are coming correctly.

Hi,
The infobject has been defined with datatype "DATE" only. It has also been mapped from datasource to infocube correctly as these key figures are populating correctly for some of the sales documents in the report. It is not like that for all the sales documents the key figures are not converting properly.
Some Sales documents are not converting into the date fields but for some conversion happens properly in the BEx report. This is the issue.
Please guide accordingly.

BEx Report Display - Transformation Rule Issue - Urgent

I have 2 fields one Key Figure : "Amount (Datatype-CURR / length-13)" and one Characteristics : "Indicator (Datatype-CHAR / length-1)" in the source system.
I need to display the Amount field with +/- depending on the Indicator field which has only 2 values S(Credit) and H(Debit) in the BEx Report.
How can I handle this issue. Please provide your suggestions.

Create 2 Key Figures.
One restricted with S(Credit) and another restricted with H(Debit).
Create another canculated Key Figure and multiply with -1 for the u want to do.
Then add the 2 filed if you want to and display and keep the others in No Display.

Bex Report issue - transaction data of type Char not dispalyed complete

Hi BI Expers ,
I have one issue related to Bex reports here
I have complete data loaded in DSO , there is one field Job Title which is having a length of 60 char . When I am executing the report in Bex Analyzer , the value for Job Title is getting truncated after 30 characters . Although full 60 chararacters are loaded in DSO still I am not able to present them in reports .
Can some one help here , whether this is Analyzer limitation or is there some setting to fix this issue .

Hi Anurag,
Check the Output length of the object that is giving out put as 30 charecters.
And check in Business Explorer tab option for BEx Description short, medium or High.
