Billing for premium rate numbers

My last phone bill included 2 calls to 2 premium rate numbers I did not call (£18).  Payphoneplus does not recognise the source of the numbers nor does BT.  BT insist the number was made from my house but this was not so.  They want paid and will not accept that they have made a mistake.  How do I get them to accept that they have made a mistake?

Thanks How do I prove that the numbers were not called from my landline? Will TalkTalk have this info?
Now that is the problem.
The calls may well have been made from your landline, but not necessarily by you. If no-one else has access to your property (or dect access to say a cordless system) - e.g. relative, cleaner etc, then there is a slight possibility of a dodgy engineer making these calls say at the exchange or the street cabinet. It could even be an exchange software fault.
It's not clear what the calls are for (e.g. vote line, win line for scratch card etc). If the call length on your bill actually does give the cost of £1.53 a minute, then at least it can be confirmed as those numbers, and not anything else - e.g. international call to somewhere - perhaps missing off some digits.
Were the date/time of these calls in amongst a general list of dialled numbers - that you may be able to recall making calls to something at the time ?

  • Premium Rate Numbers on My Bill

I am trying to sort out an issue. At the time, I had 2 telephone lines from BT. The problem is, I have 2 numbers on my telephone bill I did not call:
    Number supposedly called: 0911 100 0054
    Sat 26 Jan 15:34 0911 100 0054 Premium Rate 4:41 £ 7.350
    Sat 26 Jan 15:25 0911 100 0054 Premium Rate 4:42 £ 7.370
As you can see, both calls were made at around the same time. One on each of my lines, at the time. Now, I'm thinking, how many times has this happened in the past?
I live in a 1 bedroom flat and work from home. So, it is impossible someone else accessed my property to make the calls. But, I did not make the calls!
BT don't want to know. BT will not refund me the money someone has stollen from me. BT told me I must pay my bill or they will take me through the debt collection process.
For the record BT, I do not except responsibility for the calls made to the number listed above. Even though I am being made to pay for the calls.
I have contacted www.phonepayplus.org.uk and they told me some real interesting things about the premium rate number above. They are dealing with my complaint. I also contacted www.actionfraud.police.uk. They couldn't really help me, but, I left a report in case it helps someone else in the future.
And, why does BT refuse to handle these types of complaints, well, differently? Surely BT can see that something isn't quite right? And why do I have to just to pay? It seems BT are just condoning / profiteering from the situation, if, they are not prepared to investigate. Sorry, but it's a joke, in my opinion.
Has anyone else experienced this type of fraud?

  • I am being billed for premium messaging and I've never used it.

I received my verizon bill last month. Noted I was charged $19.98 for premium messaging under Data. This showed up on my statement for my one phone - 989-600-7940.  I've never used premium messaging for data on any of my phones. I want my bill adjusted.

Let me add to what the community posted by explaining that a premium SMS is a premium message service above the standard texting on your plan.  It allows special daily/weekly/monthly services, whether it be horoscopes, ringtones, jokes-of-the-day, reality television voting, etc.

  • Billed for Premium Tech Support That Did Not Fix the Problem

i too was scammed last night by a premiun tech support rep...he assured me that the problem i was having with my pc
could be repaired and pursuaded   me to purchase the 10 month plan for $14.00 month also said if i canceled prior to the 10 mos i would be charged a $59.99 fee.......I told him I would sign up if he could assure me the pc problem would be resolved.
He also assusred me that if  it could not be resolved  to ask to be transfered to the billing department to cancel the  the plan   I confirmed this with him at least 3 times and he assured me I would not have to  pay and I could cancel with no monetary obligation if the problem on my pc could not be resolved....well it was not  and my computer was left in worse condition than when the premium support tech began working on it...the support tech worked on my computer for 3 and 1/2 hoursI was on the phone with him until 3:30 am....he apologized and said he did not expect the outcome of what happened to my computer. well needless to say when i called billing i was told I was liable for the $59.00 early cancelation fee  it did not matter that the tech did not repair the problem or that he left my computer in worse condition than when he  began working on it.........so technically what they are saying is that I have to pay for them creating problems on my pc that did not exist before I called them   I  The sales rep I spoke to was "scott : he said he was in massachusetts..I spoke with Eric in BIlling and he said he would note on my account what I had told him and asked me to call after the charge appears on my phone bill to see if i could have it removed...i also called billing again today and spoke with another billing rep and she said she also would note my problem on my account and that hopefully the $59.00 fee would be removed..it is very disppointing to know that Verizon Hires people that lie to consumers.....all of their employee conversations to customers need to be recorded and monitored. I received a recorded message from verizon this am asking if i was satisfied with the service i received from tech suppoort with #1 being the least satisfed  which of course described my experience with them.  If My tele phone bill does not reflect the cancellation  of the $59.00charge I will definitly pursue this matter further....

I was also billed on July 15, 2014 for tech support that did not fix my computer problem.
I was billed $99.99 to my credit card to a tech in the country of India.
I tried to get my money back but the number I was referred to would not answer.
I immediately went to my bank which took all of the info and changed my credit card number.
The bank also did their own investigation and said it seemed to be a scam.  My money was redeposited into my account within 36 hours - not because of anything Verizon did, but my BANK!!   I was so grateful.
Such service from Verizon's tech department is unethical and inexcusable.
Verizon customers deserve better tech service than this.  "Ma Bell" would turn over in her grave if she knew how far down the service of the original phone company has gone. It's a disgrace!!  A SCAM perpetuated and sanctioned by Verizon.
I complained to the Verizon Customer Correspondance Claim Dept.  Do you think they will straighten this mess out?  I doubt it - I am a retiree with an excellent payment record.
They don't care.  This hurts the American economy.

  • Billed for premium, getting free

I arranged for free trial period on account, then decided to upgrade whilst on it. The first time it kicked me out of premium, I paid twice (via phone bill & apple a/c) by accident to resolve. When I cancelled the apple, back to free I went. Tried logging out and re- installing. Running iOS 7.

Call Customer Service and ask that they block premium messaging on the phone (you can put the block on yourself via MyVerizon, but you need to talk with Customer Support for any refund).  When you tell them that the service was never signed up for and that you want the block on the phone, they may offer you a partial or full refund; if not, it doesn't hurt to ask.

  • Premium rate texts.

My mother, a 77 year old lady who hardly understands English language, has been sent unsolicited premium rate text messages by 3 companies to her  Nokia 3410.
[She uses it only to call and receive calls from her family. No personal sms messages, whatsoever, has been sent or received on this phone.]
When I contacted them about this, 2 of the 3 companies refunded what they charged through the T mobile monthly bill. The other company, "CORE INTERNATIONAL s.r.o, Pocenice 203, Pocenice-Tetetice, 76833, Czech Republic" insists that the certain apps were downloaded (which is a blatant lie) and refuses to reimburse. The company "txtNation(dot com)" is the 'go between' in the UK.
I am just wondering whether anybody else had this experience with unsolicited, premium rate sms messages and how to get them to reimburse. Thanks for any helpful input.

If you contact the phone carrier (I assume T-Mobile) they should be able to block all premium rate numbers from contacting your Mother. I had the same problem using them with receiving unsolicited sms for which I was charged & a quick call to 150 via the mobile phone to that carrier sorted it.

  • Has anyone gotten a "Premium Messaging" charge on their bill for "Roundhouse Management Alerts"?

I was looking at my most recent bill and noticed that there was a $9.99 charge on one of our lines for "Premium Messaging."  I pulled up last month's bill and the noticed that the charge was there as well.  I called Verizon and asked the customer rep what this was for.  She said it was for something called "Roundhouse Management Alerts" but she had no idea what this was.  I told her we did not subscribe to any such service and she acknowledged that it was possible someone could have signed the line up for the alert without our knowledge.
Verizon handled this immediately to my satisfaction.  The customer service representative took the charge off our new bill and credited our account for the previous month's charge that had already been paid.  Nevertheless, it's kind of frightening that Verizon might process a charge from some outside vendor without verifying that the charge was legitimate.  We have multiple lines and its just lucky that I noticed this charge appearing when I did.
Has anyone else run into this?

I too just discovered a Permium Messaging charge on my husbands line. It had something to do with Facebook, MySpace & Twitter updates. My husband doesn't use any of these social websites! Customer servce was kind enough to remove the charge & give me a number to text so we could opt-out. A block for Premium Messaging has been put on both our lines!
I'm so glad to hear that others have been able to have these charges removed as well.
Thanks Verizon for the great customer service!!

  • FICA/Billing config - new ST for new rate

    Hi
We've created a new rate category/billing schema SCHED-WGRF.  The schema has a sequence with rate WSCHED-GRF which in turn has a step that is linked to internal subs 1350/1351.
Those subs are defined in TE305 with main 0100 against external subs 0350/0351.  Also both internal and external subs are defined for a particular account determination in EK02 in division 03 (water).
The new rate category has been assigned to an installation and a billing doc can be created.  However the account can't be invoiced.
    getting the following errors
    E9033 - Record R/1000/03/0100/0002   not found in table TE305
    and
    EK157 - Transaction (CC = 1000, div. = 03, MTrans = 0100, SubTrans = 0002) not allowed.
0100/0002 is the external MT/ST for metered electric (division 01), so I don't understand where this combination is getting pulled from.
I'm hoping there's just another step or 2 of config/linkage that needs adding/changing.
I'd be very grateful if anyone has some good documentation they are willing to share, on all the steps needed for new rates with new subs.
    Many Thanks
    Astrid

    Hello,
Do you have note 1170295 applied?
Also, you should check your customising:
Please assign the internal transactions to the external transactions.

  • HT201232 I have called the support number given, was on hold for more than an hour and received quite unpleasant phone bill for trying to sort out AppStore mistake! Is there any other options of getting "support" apart from calling these telephone numbers

My account was charged for buying app that I actually didn't buy. I was trying to sort out these mistake by calling the support number given (Russia). There was no other options like sending an email or calling some other number. I was on hold for one hour and a half! Is that normal for Apple support??? So apart from being charged for the app I haven't given my permission to buy, I also got a phone bill for calling the only support number available. Where can I submit my complain and what could be done about it?
    Thank you,
    Natalia

There is an email way to do this. See here: https://getsupport.apple.com/ContactInfo.action
The Russian Federation is one of the countries listed under Other.

  • Being billed for calls I shouldn't be

    Hello,
I have been receiving bills for a while which seem higher than I should. I have free evening and weekend calls on my account, and last month paid for calls on sundays and a monday evening. I also have a list of calls on my bill that do not correspond to any numbers I know, and a couple of calls seem to have been made when there was nobody in the house.
Is it possible that somebody else is using my phoneline? Is there a number I can call to sort this out?
    Thanks,
    Simo

    Hi Simo
I'll be happy to have a look at the call charges for you and see what's up.
Can you send me in an email please with your BT account and telephone number please with a link back to this thread.  If you get me a list of the numbers and charges you don't think apply I'll double check them.
    Just send to [email protected]

  • I was billed for a renewal with eHarmony that does not work. Eharmony said itunes claims the charge didnt go through but I have already been billed. How do I get my money back or get my subscription working??

I was billed for a renewal with eHarmony via iTunes that does not work. Eharmony said itunes claims the charge didnt go through but I have already been billed it is on my bank statement. How do I get my money back or get my subscription working?? I have all transaction ID's and invoice numbers. Please help this has been very frustrating, thanks.

Yes, I reported the problem using that exact sequence immediately after discovering the problem with the app.  When I submitted my complaint and request, Apple redirected me the website of the app manufacturer where I submitted the same complaint/request for refund.  I have not heard back from either, and was still charged, so I can only assume that is not the correct way to "Report a Problem" even though Apple would have you believe otherwise.

  • Billed for an app I didn't download - does this happen a lot?

    Hi
I just got an email invoice stating I'd been billed for an app called iconize. I never heard of it and never downloaded it.
It's not a huge amount of money but it is still stealing in my oppinion.
I checked out the app and it looks well dodgy. There are loads of 5 star reviews, all posted on the same day and written mostly in very bad English, even where the persons name appears to be English.
I'm wondering... Is this a common occurrence and how is it even possible?
I checked my phone and both my iPads, just in case I'd accidentally installed it and it's not on any of them.
Not impressed with the Apple support page either as it completely fails to validate my phone numbers. This is the first time since I started buying Apple kit (10+ years) that I needed to contact their support, and it's hard to believe the same company that produces such excellent hardware and software has such a rubbish support page. Looks like they out-sourced it to the Muppetts
    Mark

I notice that the price of the app I was billed for is much less than the price it is being sold at. I wonder if I bought this app years ago, deleted and forgot all about it, and then got billed for it again??
I got an email from Apple saying I'd get a refund...
