Biometrics

hello.
i have a fingerprint reader that comes with a java sdk
unfortunately, it uses j2se(buttons,event handling, etc.) which i do not know anything about. i need to use this fingerprint reader for my web application.
is it possible to convert a j2se program to j2ee?
i mean are there equivalent events for that or something? and if not, can i connect a standalong application in java to a web application in java?
i am really confused.
thanks

You can use all the j2se components in a j2ee
application. But using the Swing controls wouldnt
make sense in a web application. All you can do here
is use html controls but there are events that are in j2se that are not in html events.
or you may want to investigate
jsf.from what i know, jsf is part of j2ee and is kinda like j2se/swing but are for web applications, right? and if i do this, i also have to learn jstl, right?
and if not, can i connect a standalone
application in java to a web application in java?Yes - a standalone java application (and this would
apply to applets too) can connect to a web
application - look at the java.net.URLConnection or
the HttpURLConnection class. Better use the apache
httpclient library which provides you with a
transparent api for such needs.
ram.thanks ram.
but since i have to learn all that, maybe i'll just go with the jsf thing.
i'll try to look for some tutorials.
thanks again :-)

  • PCI-6220 Analog output to Biometrics DataLOG?

    Hello all,
I am trying to send an analog signal to our Biometrics DataLOG device.  Currently, I have the PCI-6220 card installed and am running the signals through a BNC-2111 DAQ.  I am getting no output from our card through our DAQ, any suggestions?  Thank you!

Provide some detailed information. How is the 6220 configured? How is it wired to the bnc? Do you see an output when you test the device in MAX? Are you checking the output with a meter or a scope or are you just relying on this unknown (to most of us) logger?

  • Biometrics Log-In For HP Envy Laptops Should be at the BIOS Level

The Biomentrics Login for the HP Envy Laptop is Implemented in Windows 8.1 and is Effective only for Login Security to the Windows 8.1 OS --
If we have a Multi-Boot System ... anyone can break in still into your Laptop or System by simply Rebooting the System and accessing one of the other Partitions --
It would perhaps be a better security mechanism if this Biometrics Login feature was also implemented at the BIOS
Level with the additional Flag to enable or Disable for the User if so desires !!
    Cheers !!

    Hi,
    Have we tried the
    printer troubleshooter?
Meanwhile, please enable the Operational log of the PrintService, follow the below steps:
    1.   Open
    Event Viewer
    2.   Expand
    Application and Services Logs\Microsoft\Windows\PrintService.
    3.   Right-click
    Operational and choose Enable Log.
Note: The PrintService Operational Log will log a great number of events on a busy print server and should only be enabled for troubleshooting purposes. Disable the log once troubleshooting is completed.
You can increase the log file size if necessary to accommodate the amount of data you need to collect to troubleshoot your situation.
For more troubleshooting information, we might take a look at the following TechNet blog(The method could also be used in Windows 8):

    Hope this may help here.

  • Biometrics/fingerorint reader fails 3 times on boot up

when my system first boots up the fingerprint reader (integrated biometrics on my T60) reads 3 attempts (fails each time)  and prompts me for a password. I never actually run my finger through,  it just run through 3 attempts and fails.
Use to work fine, device driver is working and updated. PC doc indicates a problem but in a very generic way (not helpfull)
A little baffled by the self initiated 3 attempts to read a fingerprint on boot up
    Any help would be appreciated
    Thanks

The lens seems to be scratched but before I try to replace the palmrest which I believe includes the lens ($115 !! ) I wanted to make sure that the symptoms made sense. I also ran PCdoctor on the Biometric Coprocessor and the test passed.

  • Need biometrics and masstorage drivers for Satellite A105-SP4088

    Hi.
I need the biometrics and masstorage drivers.
Can someone say when i can download this drivers?
I search at all page of the Toshiba supports.
Recently formated my notebook. I don't have CD with drivers.
    Thank,
    Raul Yahtnel

Do you need drivers for Windows XP???
If yes then maybe this little info could be helpful for you.
After installing Windows XP there could be a yellow exclamation mark by a "PCI Memory Controller" or "Mass Storage Controller" in the device manager. This hardware will only supported by Windows Vista.
Therefore there is no Windows XP driver.
I agree about biometrics driver this could be a fingerprint reader.

  • Precise Biometrics and JCOP20

    Hi,
I would like to implement Match o card tachnology on Java card. Cards I am using are JCOP 20.
I red on Precise Biometrics web site that they offer tools to integrate MOC in all Java Card.
Is that really possible with JCOP 20? Could anyone tell me something about that?
    BRICE

As i know, Precise Biometrics have developed MOC algorithm, that can be integrated in the JCOP card by manufacturer (i.e. in pres-issuance state) in case you make such custom order.
I don't think, that they sale MOC applets. They algorithm might work faster, probably, in the reason of native code used (which is allowed to be masked only in pre-issuance state). Post-issuace applets cannot use native methods.
We have already discussed that question. Look through the older posts in the forum.

  • Biometrics for PeopleSoft Time and Labor Reporting

    Hello,
Can you please share any information regarding partners for Biometric identification integrated with PeopleSoft Time and Labor reporting?
I have an existing Peoplesoft customer interested in adding Biometrics to their implementation and they have asked for a "recommended" list of partner solutions.
A Google search turned up Kaba. Please understand I am not experienced in the Peoplesoft landscape, so any advice and direction is appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Dean

    Dean,
I realize I'm a bit late to the Party here but there is another Oracle validated integration with PeopleSoft for biometric time clocks. Accu-Time's Cesium solution seamlessly integrates state-of-art biometric terminals with PeopleSoft Enterprise simply and accurately. These biometric time clocks are the only technology of it's kind available through an Oracle/PeopleSoft validated partner. Both skin surface and sub-surface are evaluated making the inaccuracies of traditional biometric technology due to dry, wet, dirty, extreme, demographic or skin condition irrelevant. Please reach out to me if you have any questions

  • EliteBook 8760w - Had to recover to HP defaults now biometrics won't authorize me

Just received my new 8760w last weekend and I setup the HP Protect Tools (HD encryption, fingerprint access, facial recognition).  Windows 7 (64bit) then tried to install SP1 and failed.  It let me reboot the computer, but every once and awhile (about 30% of the time) the system would hang between using fingerprint to authorize at the BIOS check and actually loading windows.  The little crappy annimation would show, but when the screen normally goes black and the mouse pointer appears, the system would just hang up.  Well after about 10 hours of playing with trying to restore to a windows restore point (had about 8 of them that day and NOT a single one would restore properly because of the bing toolbar not able to be restored properly...I KNEW I hated that thing!) I finally broke down and restored to system defaults and started over again.
Up until this reset, the biometrics were working flawlessly.  Each of the fingerprints recorded allowed me past the BIOS and into Windows as well as a few other applications I had installed.  Afterwards, the only access that still worked was with the BIOS.  Then I reset all my fingerprints using the HP Protect Tools again and now none of the systems recognize the biometric fingerprint (haven't had time to check facial recognition at this time).
Any ideas?  I've used the tools to disable the Windows Logon and Pre Boot security hoping this would allow me to start from scratch.  But that didn't work.
Thanks in advance, any ideas to resolve this are appreciated.
    Todd

I am having almost the SAME exact issue with my Probook 4545 I just purchased....Long story short, ALL was working as Todd stated "Up until this reset, the biometrics were working flawlessly.  Each of the fingerprints recorded allowed me past the BIOS and into Windows as well as a few other applications I had installed."  Afterwards, however for me no fingerprints were recognized (lucky I had password access past the BIOS screen) and the password manager app no longer worked like it did; not storing longin info with the fingerprint access.
I see this is an older post but I CANT FIND much else of anything to help me fix this. I am pretty sure it has to be BIOS setting issue but when I open the BIOS the areas I need to access to reset or change the old settings from pre reset are locked out.
    Any help appreciated

  • Why can't biometrics can't log me on via password or fingerprint

I have a HP DV-6 laptop. Today when I turned on my laptop neither the fingerprint nor password would work. It said "cannot find in store" or something like that. I've turned my laptop on safe mode and am able to access the laptop this way only. If I put my password in on safemode it works. As for my biometric settings, it says that I don't have any biometric devices on this computer. Could this be due to the fact that my laptop is on safe mode? What should I do? I purchase this laptop summer 2011, so warranty is over.
    Did my hard drive crash?
How can I resolve this problem?
The worst part is I'm a photographer and terrified I've lost alot since not everything
is on my external hard drive.
    laptop specifications:
    hp pavilion dv-6
processor: AMD A8-3500M APU with Radeon

Any support would be greatly appreciated.

    You are welcome!
I am sorry that happened to you - it is quite disconcerting when the system suddenly stops working as it should.
You can click Options and edit your post to remove the serial number - that is private information.
    Updates
You can opt to switch your Windows Updates to manual - set it so that you are notified about the Updates and that they are not automatically applied.  You may not always recognise an Update that will prove unfortunate; you will be able to make sure your system is backed up before you apply updates, especially any updates about which you have concerns.
IF you are using the HP Support Assistant, this too, can be set so the updates will be offered but not installed.
I do suggest that you do use your own judgement to determine when it it time to update your system's BIOS.  The HP Support Assistant good software; it is not always the best way to determine when one should update the BIOS.
Check your computer's website for Drivers and Software for your computer:
HP Pavilion dv6-6140us Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers
    Backups
I do recommend that you catch up the rest of your files and data and add them to an external backup.  Your data is only as secure as is the method you use to retrieve it.  If you are depending on the fact that your computer is running and you are able to log in to retrieve that data, you are depending on a single failure point.  Best to have duplicate backups AND to be sure that everything you want to keep is backed up somewhere other than ON the computer.  Your Computers can die, your data should not die with it.
You might consider making an Image of your system's C drive.
    All things "Backup"
Scan the following files and see if any of the documents apply directly to your situation.  You might also get ideas of what you want to do to better protect your system, should it become necessary.
HP PCs - Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7)
What if the system is "sick" but still limping along:  Restore did not work, the system is struggling, things are "not right"?
A "Repair Install" may help.  Do NOT do this without first having up-to-date backups.  If the Repair does not work, things might get worse -- best be prepared ahead of time.

  • Biometrics finger print scanner not working on Qosmio F45 AV411

    Hello,
I have a Qosmio F45 AV411 that I have just installed Windows 7 32 bit on. This was not an upgrade, but a fresh image on a new hard drive. I have also got all the drivers to work except for the:
    driver_fingerprint_upek_TC00237700A.exe
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling as well. Is there software that goes with this device as well? I checked device manager, and it says I have the latest driver.
    Thanks,
    Daniel

    Hi,
Try downloading and installing the Validity Sensor driver on the link below.

Now my fingerprint utility isn't working anymore, this is really getting frustrating. This unit has just been over a month old and I have several issues that even the guys from the Toshiba store I bought it from couldn't even give me definite answers. Maybe I should take the hint- I should have purchased another brand.
Can anyone at all shed light on this? Perhaps my unit didn't go through quality check? Just being frustrated and disappointed here.

My question was if there is a solution -or not- that faces this kind of issues. It is not clear if you are talking about Sun Solaris or x86 Solaris.
I don't know if it makes any difference, but it might.
Maybe your question is: why this guy wants to do something like this? No. I am not concerned with that.
Just trying to help you ask the right questions.
And maybe you will find the answers yourself once you have the right questions.
I'm integrating some biometric solutions on Sun Access Manager. But the biometrics vendor only provides windows ocx's and DLL's. And Access Manager is running in a Solaris box.
I want to know if I can do something by myself or just tell the biometrics vendor that they must provide a Java solution.
I have been trying to find something on the web, but I asked this forum because maybe someone has tried to do something similar. The suggestion by jschell is probably your most promising option.
Integrating the .dll files with Java on a Windows box
and communicating between Access Manager / Java on the Solaris box and your Java code on the Windows box
    (possibly using RMI).
