Borderlands and ps3 controller issues

hi i play borderlands on my imac, i use my ps3 controller as a gamepad and i have one issues. When playing the game when trying to bring up such things as vendor screen to buy items it will not stay. I played it without the controller and it works fine, so it something to do with the controller being used. Is anyone else who plays like this have this problem? How can i fix it

My wife and I have the same problem with our respective iMacs when we play Borderlands.  There is obviously a bug somewhere either on Feral's end or Apple's Bluetooth end.  There is one solution that I discovered, if you don't mind keeping your controller tethered to your computer via USB.
Step 1:  Make sure your PS3 controller is not currently paired with your Mac (I am not certain if this step is critical or not, but this how I do it to get it to work).
Step 2:  Startup Borderlands and begin your game.
Step 3: Plug your PS3 controller into your Mac via USB (your charaters perspective will begin to spin around on your screen).
Step 4:  Press the clear circular button in the middle of your PS3 controller and keep your controller plugged into your Mac.  Do not unplug your controller from the USB port until you are done playing your game (you should now be able to use your controller in the game without that annoying glitch).

The game run perfectly well except for the Ps3 controller.  the game require two axis, the left one is use to move the character and got everything on.  While trying to move the camera with the second axis then the problem is that i can only use left and right. NOT UP and DOWN.
I manage to configure all the other buttons except for the right axis up /down.

Both ps4 controllers died today. both of them had 1.5 years. First one had a problem with the analog stick (goes crazy, moving in random locations on screen), the second had problems with de L1 button (when you press it, it sticks pressed). In the past, I had problems with some ps3 controllers after 1.5 years or so... I think, these problems with the ps4 ones were kind of expected.BUT! Since they are very expensive in my country, it would be cool that sony can put more effort on quality control. I barely play ps4, like two hours a week, so no heavily use was made. (PS3 controllers where used like 6 hours a week, battery lasted long and they felt more reliable and better quality than the ps4 ones, that I barely used..). Shame on Sony? may be. At the end, the only thing that suffers is my wallet. I feel scamed.

  • WRT400n and PS3 wireless issue

I have recently purchased a WRT400n and want to hook up my PS3.  I would not consider myself technologically inclines, but can figure things out, and I am at a loss.  Both computers in house (wireless laptops) work great.  The PS3 on the previous router, worked great.  When i set up the PS3, i am getting slow connection speeds, and cannot get full gaming experience if I am online for an extended period of time.  Cant hear me, lags, etc.... occur and I get an error on the PS3 of "Failed connection speed test".  Any thoughts as to how I can fix this situation would be great!!  Thanks for your help.

  • LiveDock and a SIXAXIS PS3 controller

    Hi everyone at Sony support.
I have an Xperia S phone with Gingerbread on it. The main reason i got the phone was for the PS Store, which i have used to buy and download Oddworld: Abe's Oddesy. The second reason was i knew that using a livedock and a PS3 controller i could connect my phone to the tv and play.
Which is fantastic untill i find that the R2 and L2 buttons WILL NOT work atall. All other buttons work but the back 2 do not even respond.
Also the pad picks up ok when i connect it, but doesnt respond untill i press the PS button.
It is not the controller as i have used this before in the PS3. I am unsure what the problem would be.
Is it a Dualshock 3 controller i need or will the SIXAXIS only one be ok?
Does the quality of the USB cable effect it?
PS: I dont want to root the phone, i know i can pair with bluetooth using the SIXAXIS app. But i am fine with using it by USB, so long as it all works!
    Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link, but I belive the forum post you linked is for the SIXAXIS app, which again i do not wish to purchase as it needs root. From what i have heard/seen, the PS3 pad works out of the box with a livedock. Which it does. This would be more than enough for me. I do not need to play by bluetooth.
The issue i am havving is the 2 trigger R2 and L2 do not respond in any official PS store game or in any emulator (fpse/genoid/snesoid for example). they just do not respond. Same goes for the analog stick buttons R3 and L3. I do not know if this is by design or a flaw on my side. There is no official documentation about it.

  • Issues connecting psp and ps3 airport extreme

Im having issues connecting my psp and ps3 to my airport extreme.

I have the newest airport extreme (square) & I was able to connect my psp, ps3 and Nintendo DS to it wirelessly once I change the security back to WEP. It seems that they were having trouble connecting to my WPA protected network.
Also, go into airport utility and manual settings. Under the Wireless tab, make sure that the radio mode option is set to the first options (8.02.11n (802.11b/g compatible) and not the other options.
    Hope this helps.

  • WRT320N. Port forwarding help. Xbox and ps3 playing at same time. NAT issues

    Hi
I'm trying to have both my xbox and ps3 play with open NAT's for online gaming. I have had success utilizing info from 'portforward.com'. But the solutions will unlock OPEN NAT for either the ps3 or the xbox .. one at a time. Is there a way to get both to be open?
It seems like one main conflict is the success depends on both utilizing port 3074. But I can't have both use it? ( obviously).
I tried port forwarding the xbox per specs off of this forum and that works great.. And DMZ ing the PS3. But like i said before. Most solutions
leave one console with OPEN and one with Moderate.
Is there a solution that allows both NAT OPEN's on both consoles?

First of all XBOX works on a different port number and PS3 works on a different port numbers. Follow the steps below to open the ports on your router for XBOX and PS3.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
This settings are for your XBOX.
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
    6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...
For PS3 Follow the steps below
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...

  • Can't get PS3 controller to work on iMac with Lion with Call of Duty 4.

I was able to pair my PS3 controller with my iMac, running Lion, but it will not do anything.  I am trying to use it with Call of Duty 4.  My bluetooth says it is connected to the controller.  I really don't have any other games to try it on to see if it is a game compatability issue.  Is this a known problem?  How do I make it work?

There's one more way that the previously-existing Oracle directories on the other machines might be tripping you up - with registry settings. In particular, the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\(some home)NLS_LANG registry key may be associated with the "invalid or unknown NLS parameter value specified" error you're getting.
Of course, the Instant Client isn't supposed to have to mess with the registry, so that makes me suspicious. And I got Instant Client SQL*PLUS on a clean XP machine to work without setting an ORACLE_HOME. All this makes me suspicious that some stuff from outside your Instant Client is being run. I know you said you cleaned your environment variables, but double-check that the other Oracle directories are out of your PATH.
If you have permission to, you might want to thoroughly scrub the old Oracles from the other machines (starting with running the Oracle Installer, then hand-cleaning the registry, the c:\Ora92 or whatever directory, and then c:\Program Files\Oracle). If you have MetaLink, Document 74790.1 is a dated but good guide to cleanly de-installing an old Oracle installation from Windows. It's much more difficult than it ought to be; sometimes it feels like an Oracle home is never truly gone. If you can't do that, perhaps save a copy of your registry and then temporarily rename HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE to ORACLE_HIDDEN, or something - something to keep any existing registry settings from distracting your Instant Client.
    Good luck!

  • Has anyone managed to get a PS3 Controller to work with OSX Lion?

    Hi,
I wanted to connect my PS3 controller to my iMac (late 2011) using bluetooth but have been unable to do so. It will connect for a brief time but then it will lose connect as it has not paired. It also asks me for a pairing code. I have tried 0000 and this does not work. I have searched the internet and it seems this is a common issue. Has anyone managed to get it working?
Does anyone know if Apple plan to fix the issue with a forthcomming update?
    Cheers,
    Tim

There are numerous threads on this, please use the "More Like this" tool, you will find it on the right. I'm not sure if anyone has any solutions but that is the logical place to start.

  • PS3 Controller left/right on main analog stick don't work

I tried this out on two computers both running arch and had this same issue, and one running Windows that did not. It seems the left/right axis on the left analog stick don't work at all, only up/down works. The right stick works fine.
I tried to map the axis on Dophin-emu and Snes9x-gtk. Dolphin didn't recognize the axis at all, snes9x seemed to map it out fine, but when it came to playing a game, it did not function. I'm not using any extra drivers or software for this.
    uname -a
    Linux Avalon 3.2.2-1-ARCH #1 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jan 26 08:40:20 CET 2012 x86_64 Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q8200 @ 2.33GHz GenuineIntel GNU/Linux
EDIT: cat /dev/input/js0 returns some values when the stick is moved left and right
Last edited by Sileem (2012-01-29 20:25:31)

The input in Ubuntu is a bit different, and there's no Snes9x to test, so that's inconclusive. Many other controllers seem to have Axis 1-4, whereas the PS3 controller lists the axes as 0-3. All of the axes but 0 (left and right on left analog) work. I wonder if this is some glitch where some component expects 0 to be null or something. Then again, I think it's always been that way.
I don't have any other gamepads around to test out, but I'm scouring the 'net for a solution. It seems unlikely I'll find one, however. This thread is the only one on the internet that has a vaguely similar problem.
UPDATE: It appears jscal can't calibrate the controller (after "Calibrating precision: wait and don't touch the joystick." it says "Bus error" and quits). jscal -t reports "axes not calibrated." Not sure what to think of that.

  • I have a serious (and bizarre!) issue with my novation impulse (Although i've tried it with two other keyboards and i still have the same problem) and its compatibility with mainstage 3

i have a serious (and bizarre!) issue with my novation impulse (Although i've tried it with two other keyboards and i still have the same problem) and its compatibility with mainstage 3.
the problem is best explained on the following one - page thread:
    https://discussions.apple.com/thread/3951518?start=0&tstart=0
(Clearly i'm not alone in this problem, although i think i figured out what's going wrong a little more than he did...read on!)
his solution, to put mainstage in jump mode, is very unsatisfactory to me, as it bounces all of a sudden to drastically different settings.
basically, my analysis is that my controller is NOT receiving MIDI date from mainstage.  in other words, mainstage knows what my controller is doing, but my controller doens't know what mainstage is doing.
let's say i turn the knob all the way to the right ... 127...and the virtual fader goes to the right like it's supposed to.
now...next...let's say i change to a different patch, where that same VIRTUAL fader is not at the max clockwise position..maybe it's only at 1pm.  now when i turn the physical knob to the RIGHT, the midi data is still at 127 on the controller!  it didn't "reset" to sync up with the new level (say 80 or so) setting on the new patch.  so i can't increase that new setting of 80 by continuing to turn the knob to the right.  i have to turn it all the way to zero,...and then continue PAST zero until the controller thinks that IT is at 0...at that point the controller and mainstage are in agreement, and things work fine....so bascially, the keyboard thinks the level is at max...but mainstage thinks the level is at 1pm.
i am using Logic 9, and i have a macbook pro 2.9 Ghz I7 with 8 gigs of memory and OS X 10.8.4

    Hi Josh,
Thanks for taking the time to contact us here a Novation for technical support. Lets continue to correspond via email so we can get your issue resolved.

  • MSI K9A Platinum and VIA drivers issue? XP 0x0000007B stop error.

I get a Windows Stop error when trying to boot into Windows XP with new components. The SATA hard drive (and Windows XP installation) is from the old computer.
    The new computer components are:
MB: MSI K9A Platinum, chipset: RD580 (North Bridge), SB600 (South Bridge)
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 x2 5600+, boxed (the cooler and fan came with the CPU).
    Video: MSI Radeon 1950 XTX
The old (and working) computer setup is:
    OS: XP Professional
    MB: Abit AV8-3rd Eye, chipset: VIA K8T800Pro + VT8237
    CPU: AMD Athlon 64 3500+
    Video: Sapphire Radeon 9800Pro All-in-Wonder, videodriver: atidvag.dll version 6.14.10.6542
HD: Maxtor 6B200M0 SCSI Disk Device
    BIOS: Phoenix 6.00PG 20.04.2005
System drivers with "via" in the name: VIAAGP1.SYS, viaide.sys, viasride.sys
VIA 4in1 (Hyperion) version: 4.55 (that can be found at HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Via4in1Driver).
VIA 2.20e SATA/RAID driver was used when installing this computer setup.
    The precise stop error is:
    0x0000007B (0xba4c3528, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
From many sites I have gathered that the error is related to Windows XP not being able to access a critical system drive. Most probably the SATA hard drive issue.
The problem probably is the VIA drivers of the old motherboard and/or the SATA driver.
First I should mention, that MSI K9A Platinum does not have a hard disk SATA driver. If it does, I have been unable to find one. Certainly no such floppy disk included, and no such driver in the MSI's Web page for this motherboard.
Second important point: I never used RAID. I did use VIA 2.20e SATA/RAID driver disk when installing Windows XP to the old computer.
Strange that the hard drive model is reported as a "SCSI Disk Device". It's not a SCSI drive however: it's a SATA disk.
I have tried to uninstal the motherboard chipset drivers (Hyperion v4.55), but there seems to be a bug here: the drivers should be uninstalled using the installation program, and select the uninstall option. However, I do not get the uninstallation option to choose at all! Yes, I'm using the normal installation mode, not the quick installation (although tried that, too). The Hyperion setup program just installs, and asks to reboot the computer. After rebooting and trying again, it still does not offer me an uninstallation choise.
I know how to install hard drive VIA SATA driver, but I have no idea how to uninstall it. And I'm afraid to do that without certainty that it IS the solution, since I could not access the hard drive any more in the old computer setup (and return to read this forum). Also, I do not have a floppy drive any more. Anyone know if there is an issue with K9A and XP having VIA SATA driver installed?
When I tried the new computer setup, I first tried the simplest possible hardware combination: there were no CD/DVD-drives, no (parallel)IDE hard drives, and no PCI cards, except the MSI video adapter.
My BIOS Setup experiments. None of these helped: got the same stop error each time.
    1) I didn't much touch the BIOS setting first. Just tried to boot with the settings BIOS came with.
    2) Next I disabled the integrated audio, LAN and IEE1394 devices and floppy drive and disabled all other choises except the SATA drive as a boot device.
    3) Next I tried with the fail-safe BIOS defaults.
    4) Cleared CMOS.
    5) Changed OnChip SATA type from Native IDE to Legacy IDE. (Only one boot attempt with the setting as Legacy.)
    6) Disabled PCI IDE BusMaster.
    7) Never touched anything in the Cell Menu: so the settings are in minimum.
A step I have taken after the last attempt: run Windows XP hard drive error-checking tool to every logical drive with the fix option selected, and the system drive also with scan the bad sectors option selected.
    My plans next are:
    1) to install a newer Hyperion driver. If that would correct the no-unistallation-choice-bug,
    2) to disable USB-devices in the BIOS (desperate),
    3) to choose the Windows general video display driver (although I seriously doubt this is a display driver problem!).
    4) to uninstall the Anti-Virus software (Avira Antivir).
I've read a numerous Web pages so far about the 0x0000007B stop error. Here are some links:

    1.   If an IRQ or I/O port address conflict exists between the boot controller and another controller, Windows XP either stops responding (hangs) or displays a "Stop 0x0000007B" error message. If you recently added new hardware, remove the new hardware or reconfigure it so that it does not conflict with the resources of any other installed controllers.
    2.   If you are using a SCSI hard disk, check the SCSI chain for correct termination. Remove any unused SCSI devices or make sure that each SCSI ID is unique.
    3.   Make sure that drive translation is turned on (if it is required) and that it has not been changed. For example, if you recently switched controllers, this issue may occur. SYMPTOMS
When you start your Microsoft Windows XP-based computer after you replace the motherboard on the computer, you may receive a Stop error message that is similar to the following:
    STOP 0x0000007B INACCESSABLE_BOOT_DEVICE
    CAUSE
This issue may occur if the new motherboard contains an embedded IDE controller that has a different chipset than the original motherboard.
    RESOLUTION
Method 1: Perform an in-place upgrade of Windows XP [<- That means repair installation of Windows XP]
    •   Do not use a repair or in-place upgrade if you suspect disk problems.
Method 2: Repartition and format your hard disk and reinstall Windows XP

Alright I got the situation over.

I did try all all the above, and none of them helped.
And by the way: after installing the new Hyperion (VIA chipset drivers), I was finally able to also uninstall. It also uninstalled the IDE SATA (I think) and PATA drivers.
But what I had to do, was to make a REPAIR installation of Windows XP.
So, I was wondering now afterwards: this is really, really silly. Why the hell we need to re-install Windows if we move the SYSTEM SATA drive to another computer? We don't have similar problem with parallel IDE drives. Whom should we thank here??
The issue is to insert the driver files and the information of the ide drivers Windows should use with the next boot. How can it be this difficult?
    What you basically need is..
    - the information about the new chipset's PCIIDE.SYS/[VENDOR_PROVIDED_FILE].SYS and ATAPIIDE.SYS inserted into the values in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSetXXX\Control\CriticalDeviceDatabase
    - and the vendor's IDE drivers to the %SYSTEMROOT%/System32/drivers folder.
Maybe something else, I don't know. But the problem was, Windows didn't know how, or what drivers to use. That can't be so big problem you need to install the whole OS anew!

  • Anyone have any success connecting a generic PS3 controller through Mavericks on my macbook pro

    Hi
I am able to connect the above controllers and play supported games via USB connection. However, bluetooth does not seemingly support these devices of which I have 2.
I have followed connection guidance for earlier versions of OSX and connect via USB to recognise the device and then remove the usb cable, press the PS button and the device is prompted to pair via bluetooth. I am using a password of "0000" to pair and key this in to my macbook but then nothing happens. The device is shown as not connected, nor paired and the "connect" option has no effect.
In system information this is what presents under bluuetooth device is configured but neither paired nor connected

Anybody have any success with such a bluetooth connection .....so much better without cables after all ?
I did read one forum post indicating that one user had cloned a working PS3 controller and copying and pasting configuration data in terminal. As I don't currently have a controller that will pair that's a step too far for me.
    Thanks in anticipation

  • WRT54G Wireless G Router and PS3

Hi there, I am a proud owner of the above mentioned items. The reason why I am posting this is that when I am playing on the PlayStation 3 and one of my other family members are on a hardwired computer, the hardwired computer I believe looses it's connection to the internet, but my PlayStation is still connected to the internet, and it works very good. My setup for my network is I have a laptop, Nintendo Wii, and PS3 connected wirelessly, and I also have two hardwired computers. I asked around on the internet, and other people said that I should not be having issues, and if I were that it might be something wrong with the firmware of my router. I do have the router fully updated with the latest firmware, so don't recommend that to me. So my question is, is anybody else having a similar issue, or am I just all alone on this, and is this a firmware issue, and if so, is Linksys doing anything to fix this issue? In case if anybody was interested, I have the version 6.0 of the WRT54G router.

Make sure your firmware is up to date. If not, upgrade it, reset and reconfigure the router.
The box said windows xp or better... So I installed Linux!

  • Trying to connect a Bluetooth wireless PS3 controller to Macbook Pro

Hello,  I've got a Macbook Pro  2.2 GHz Core i7 with 4 G Ram.  Running OS 10.7.5.  I would like to use a 3rd party PS3 controller with my Macbook.  I have a Datel Turbofire 2 wireless.  I've read about pairing wireless controllers with Macbooks, but my problem is that my macbook doesn't seem to detect the PS3 controller at all.  I don't get a pairing request and when I look for bluetooth devices, my computer does not see any.  Any suggestions?

I've been trying for the last half hour to pair a PS3 Sixaxis controller (cechzc1u) to my iMac, without much luck, it shows up in my bluetooth menu bar and says connected; but it does not show up in my bluetooth system preferences.
I'm curious if this requires the DualShock3 (cechzc2u) to work instead; i haven't had any luck with answers on the rest of the interweb.
    any ideas?
