Bought iPad, but iTunes will not open in Windows 7.  Old version of iTunes was loaded from Windows XP SP 2.  Help

The new version of iTunes will not open on new computer with Windows 7.  Old version of iTunes was Windows XP SP2 carried over from old computer.  There seems to be some type of color incompatability.  Any help?

Uninstalled old iTunes, deleted all old iTunes files in Program Files folder, except two that would not delete, and deleted all iTunes I could find in the registry.  Downloaded and install latest version of iTunes.  iTunes will open and quickly close with black windows, twice.  Troubleshooting says "incompatible Application."  Any suggestions?

  • I use the oldest intel iMac, 1.86 GHz Intel I have iTunes 11.1.2 on it but it will not open.  Do I need an different iTunes?

My iTunes will not open when I click on it.  It thinks it does, it records that it was opened but it is inaccessible to me.  I wonder if I downloaded one that is too modern for me.  I just downloaded iTunes 11.1.4 but I discover I need a 2 GHz processor and an Intel Core 2 Duo Hard Drive for that version.  It makes me wonder if I needed that for the 11.1.2 version.  I run OS 10.6.8 and that is the requirement for the 11.1.4 version.  I have only an Intel Core Duo hard drive.  It is the first Inter iMac that was made.
    Looking for help.  Susan

11.1.4 simply specifies and Intel Core processor and 10.6.8 so it should run fine. I should start by going to (user)/Library/Preferences and deleting all .plist files beginning with com.apple.itunes (there will probably be quite a lot of them) - do this with iTunes not running, of course. See if it then opens: you will need to reset your preferences.

  • I just installed 10.2.2. When I tried to start iTunes, I got the message that Rosetta needed to be installed to open iTunes. It downloaded and installed Rosetta but iTunes will not open and it no longer has the iTunes icon. What do I do now?

I installed iTunes 10.2.2. When I tried to open it, I got the message that iTunes needs to install Rosetta to open. It then appeared to download and and install Rosetta. When I try to open iTunes, the icon bounces but iTunes does not open. The icon has also changed from the usual iTunes icon. What do I do now?

I have a 2010 MBP15 which I do not use as much as my pc. When I do, I check for updates and I believe I updated iTunes to 10.2.2 a week or so ago. Since I still use iTunes primarily on my pc, I didn't bother firing up the updated iTunes on the mac.
Last week, when I actually started iTunes on the mac, I got the message that Rosetta needed to be installed. Like abefighter I stalled. I surfed the net, read this thread to get some hints as to w** was going on.
When I checked the system profile in the mac, I think it showed PowerPC for 'kind.' Surfing the Internet I found out Rosetta was something needed to help applications work on PowerPCs. But wait, since this MBP is an Intel, why would or should it be asking me for some stone-age plug-in that was never mentioned in all the previous updates for iTunes until now? Fyi, the iTunes icon on the dock had changed to what I think is an AppleWorks icon.
So, I assumed that the update that resulted in my mac was corrupted. At first I scoured for 10.2.1, thinking that the last version was a dud, but in vain, nowhere to be found. I gave up and settled for a fresh 10.2.2. I did a casual delete, without touching any of the related personal preference files in my folder and it now which works fine. I'm glad I didn't jump to install Rosetta; I read elsewhere about someone who actually went through with the Rosetta install that resulted unhappily.
Unless the mac in question is a PowerPC, I would doubt the need for Rosetta installation.

  • When i ran itunes latest update i got a virus from it and now itunes will not open as it says files are missing. i was able to get rid of the virus.

You may have to uninstall iTunes and re-install it from apple.com/itunes

  • ITunes will not open unless I have created a new iTunes library...

I created at least 4 iTunes libraries, but they when I try to open them, iTunes does not accept them as libraries. I may be doing it wrong, but I don't know. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you!

  • Have downloaded a document on pages from my ipad but it will not open on my mac

I have downloaded (with great difficulty!) a document from my ipad pages app to my mac, however I am now unable to open it in my mac although Pages is on my computer........help!

You need to buy Pages 09 and also update the MacOs to 10.6.8 (atcually at least 10.6.6).
I recomend that you first download the 10.6.8 Combo update. It is huge and takes a while to get on the computer. You do not want to do it trough software update it you don't have the speediest connection. Use this link http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399
The after the system updating you can go to the AppStore (app will be under the  in the menu) and buy Pages 09 (version4.1) or to the Apple store and buy iWork '09 (which you then have to do updates on)

  • My Itunes will not open up. I get the lovely 'Itunes has encountered ....'

"..a problem and has to close" message.
I've searched around a few times and haven't found any solution on here. But I think I might have found another issue because now my Quick-time (Though I barely use it.) isn't working either. Below I have copy-and-pasted the errors that show up.
    I have:
    -Reinstalled itunes
    -Un-Installed Bonjour.
-Ran a Malwarebytes scan (which is still scanning but nothing so far)
    Who can help me? Please.
    QuickTime:
    EventType : BEX P1 : QuickTimePlayer.exe P2 : 7.66.71.0
    P3 : 4ba1a755 P4 : QuickTimePlayer.dll P5 : 7.66.71.0 P6 : 4ba1a74a
    P7 : 00005b6d P8 : c0000409 P9 : 00000000
    Itunes:
    AppName: itunes.exe AppVer: 9.1.1.12 ModName: ntdll.dll
    ModVer: 5.1.2600.5755 Offset: 0001b21a

The ntdll.dll/BEX combo you're getting usually does indicate malware. Usually Malwarebytes picks up whatever beasties are causing it, but in some cases it hasn't helped.
One thing that has been working in cases when malwarebytes hasn't touched things has been downloading a copy of Microsoft Security Essentials updating definitions and running a full scan with that:
    http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/
Does the MSE scan get your iTunes and QuickTime launching again?

  • Itunes will not open- "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close"

My iTunes will not open anymore, giving me the error message: "iTunes has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes several times, and with different versions. Nothing I do seems to work. I have even copied the program files from a friend whose iTunes does work, hoping that would fix it, but to no avail. Has anyone discovered a way to fix this problem. I have a friend who has the same problem, but hasn't been able to fix it either.

What happens when you go into control panel, click on the Quick Tunes config icon, and then select the audio tab? If you get an error, Quick Time is corrupted. Also double check your sound card drivers. Can you play any sound at all? Does Windows Media Player function? What is you anti virus software?

  • Itunes will not open; it says it cannot be read because it was created by a newer version.  What do I do

itunes will not open; it says it cannot read because it was created by a newer version.  HELP!

Unless you just attempted to downgrade iTunes to an earlier verison this is probably a sign of a corrupt library.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping.  Note that in iTunes 11 an "empty" library may show your past purchases with links to stream or download them.
In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
Alternatively, depending on exactly when and why the library went missing, there may be a more recent .tmp file in the main iTunes folder that can be renamed as iTunes Library.itl to restore the library to a recent state.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!
Should you be in the unfortunate position where you are no longer able to access your original library, or a backup of it, then see Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
I've noticed more of these missing library posts of late and a common factor to most since I started asking is AVG Anti-Virus. It seems in some cases it might be at least part of the reason why the library file disappears. Try excluding the iTunes folder from any AV scanning process.

  • Just bought a new pc and itunes will not open. I have tried thto repair and reinstall but still no itunes

just bought a new pc and itunes will not open. I have tried thto repair and reinstall but still no itunes

Best route here is to uninstall iTunes completely using the Windows Control Panel.
Make sure you know exactly which version of Win 7 you're running.
Restart your computer from cold (with no iTunes).
Go to Apple website and download the correct version for your operating system.  Install following Apple prompts.
    Once installed, close iTunes.
Restart your computer from cold (with new iTunes).
Start iTunes - all should be operating well!  Good luck ...

  • I have just had my computer fixed because of viruses but my itunes will not open. The message comes up 'itunes has encountered a problem etc.' Also my library showing music and apps for my ipad is not there.

I have just had my computer fixed because of viruses and now my itunes will not open. It keeps coming up with the message 'itunes has encountered a problem etc.'. Also my library, apps etc will not open. Any suggestions please!

Remove and re-install iTunes.  This has no affect on the media that is stored on the computer.
That being said, depending on what was done, it may also be necessary to restore the iTuneslibrary.itl file from the backup of the computer.

I'm trying to download an app that's only available on iTunes. I've downloaded iTunes.exe but it will not open on Blackberry passport. Is there a specific .exe version that I need to download?

You can't.  iTunes itself runs on Windows PCs or Macs.  Any apps available from the iTunes Store will only run on iPhones or iPads.
