Bounce Management

Hello,
I am quite new in this buisness, maybe it is a really easy question:
I developed a rule for the bounce management. I need the "Bounce: Status (Default 5)/ELM-Aktualis" for permanent errors.
Is there a possiblity to test the system or to debugg why I don´t get the status?
I hope you can help me.
thanks a lot in advance

pat

Hi Pat,
we had a quite similar problem, we solved it as follows:
Copy the class CL_CRM_ERMS_AH_UPDATE_MKT_OUT5 and add a closed loop at the beginning of the class.
Call this class in the Service AH_BCE_UPD_MKT5 in customizing.
If your rule evaluates true, the workflow should jump into this endless loop and you can go into debug mode in Tx sm50.
Unfortunately debugging didnt help us too much, because obviously the factgathering serivce isnt working probably.
So please let me know if you get any more Information!
Kind regards
Christian

  • Bounce Management in SAP CRM 2007

    Hi Experts,
we have SAP CRM 2007 and I have a few questions about Bounce Management.
It is a very simple scenario, so it´s fine if only hard bounces for incoming EMails are handled.
    1) Do you need ERMS for that simple form of Bounce Mgt?
    2) Is the Usage of Inetraction Center required? (We do not want to)
    3) Is it possible/recommended to create Activities out of incoming bounces?
    4) Can you segment on Bounces, not only within the Campaign Automation?
    5) What ist the effort/set up to use Bounce Mgt in that simple scenario about?
    Thanks a lot
    Florian

Yes, I was mentioning SAP Note 897730. The major pre-requisite mentioned there is Event linkage settings through SWETYPV transaction and in your case you just need to do the Rule Modeler settings. If you are using DEFAULT policy you do not need to do anything in Service Manager Profile.
    The note pre-requisites mentioned are
The required services and service manager profiles for using the E-Mail Response Management System (ERMS) are defined: All entries necessary for bounce management are delivered in the default Customizing. As I mentioned before Service Manager Profile: Bounce is already defined and you are going to use that profile. The required service in your case would be "Bounce Data Update" or one of the 5 standard service mentioned in this note. These are already defined and taken care of in standard configurations. Therefore, you do not need to do anything over there.
Please do the above two settings and if you have any issues please come back to me. I am sure you won't have any issues with the requirements that you mentioned. I just took one hour to set up hard bounce scenario. Only if you are planning to use services that are not standard it becomes slightly tricky. In our case major issue was that there was an error in the standard workflow. I did not know much about Workflow bindings etc. before, but then I had to dig deep into this and it gave me an opportunity to learn workflows. This was the good thing that came out of all this.
    Regards,
    Deepak
Please note you will have to do the Event Linkage settings in SWETYPV transaction.

  • Bounce Management Report - CRM 5.0

    Hi,
Is there any standard report provided by SAP for BOUNCE MANAGEMENT?
If yes, please let me know.
We basically want to see how many emails have hard bounced and how many soft.
    thanks
    Yash

    Hi Yash,
There are no reports as such but you can create your queries to find out the bounced mails. You would require to maintain the customizations for ERMS (EMail Response Management Systems) for the same.
    Hope this would help.

  • Importance of Bounce management functionality in SAP CRM

    Hi All,
I want to discuss few interesting issues which I have come a cross while doing a setting for bounce management functionality in SAP CRM 7.0
Before sharing my experience I want to discuss some term related to Bounce email than will discuss about types of bounce emails and cause of the bounce email. The setting of bounce functionality is describing in below link .
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_crm700_ehp01/helpdata/en/46/3f509215835fa7e10000000a1553f7/content.htm
In general when a website visitor sigh up they receive email from the company site, the information the site collected saved in the database but It commonly happen some of your email will be undeliever. In marketing term we say it as 'Bounce'. this is the same way happen as when a person give a bank cheque to bank and don't have sufficient money to his/her account the bank people say the cheque got bounce ..
As we are aware emails are bounce for variety of reason such as.
         - In case the recipient email address is invalid.
         - recipient email address is inactive or closed
         - recipient mailbox is full or mail server have some technical issue etc
In general all these bounces emails categorize in two category.
Hard bounce- When email address is not active. example wrong email address, email address de-activated, deleted,or closed
Soft bounce-  recipient mailbox is full, mail server have some technical issue, Out_of_office is setup .
Now finally we come to know about the cause of bounce email and types. Now the question arises why this is so important when we have bounce management functionality active in sap crm marketing ? as described in above url.
suppose that there is a campaigning happening for an product where 3000 person visited it. Now incase 2000 visitors shown interest so have qualified as prospect bases on the information they have provided such as name, address, salary or employment detail.
After successfully execution of campaign now senior executives create a mailing list for all the prospects in the target group of campaign and sends email to all the users. Now if I say to how many customers really company have reached reached after campaign execution answer will be we can not have the correct fact and figure as there could be some bounce happened.
Now incase bounce management setting is configure in your CRM system than system will receive inbound e-mails for each bounce.Suppose we have received one thousand bounce emails than we would say actual customer contacted is 1000. this is the correct fact and figure and very much useful for marketing people.
After than executive could remove email address which were hard bounced and for soft bounce they can use some other channel to contact like telephone calls etc to reach them.
The correct facts and figures are very much important for marketing strategy and planning and also to know success level of each campaign. Assume a scnario where in day a company launches more than 5 campaign. I feel the importace is transparent now.
I hope you would find some interest in above blog.
    Thanks

  • Bounce Management - Retrieving Mime Information

    Hi Gurus
We are implementing Bounce Management to allow processing for Bounced Emails as part of Marketing Campaigns.
Our Campaign Mail Forms include MIG values and based on how the EMail Configuration is set-up this information is visible in Transation SOIN as part of the MIME data returned with a Bounced Email.
Our trouble is that we have created a custom Fact Fathering service, as a copy of the SAP Standard Service for Bounce Fact Gathering. I copied the standard Class and added a breakpoint into it so that I could debug the process. When a bounce comes in, it only retrieves a small number of the available characteristics of the email.
The MIME information does not appear to be accessed at all.
Could someone please advise on how to access the MIME data via a Fact Gathering Service
    Many Thanks in Advance
    Panduranga

    Hello Stefan,
if you check SAP code, it will not change anything in an eMail which comes back as a bounce from whatever mailserver, it just update some data to execute the rules which are maintained in ERMS.
Therefore the problem you have with Borderware mail server is the standard behaviour of all external mail servers, which normally send back bounces as an attachment and that is how it works in standard SAP CRM system.
Moreover, there are many different mail servers, some do not attach the original eMail. Try one if you can if that crucial one for you.

  • Forward Mail in Bounce Management

We are sending out newsletter email through campaign management. We want to configure bounce management functionality for emails that are bounced. There is a standard functionality available wherein in case of hard bounce business partner address data is updated. In our business scenario besides updating the Business partner data we need to forward the bounced email to a specific email address for review. Can anybody kindly help how to implement the Forward mail functionality of ERMS in bounce management context. I have tried to use the Forward email SERVICE of ERMS into bounce but I am getting error in class CL_CRM_ERMS_AH_FORWARD at line 85 wherein Forward TO and Forward from email address is not taken up from email addresses defined in Rule Modeler.

  • Bounce-Management in Email-Campaigns

    Hi everybody,
we, SEW-Eurodrive, try to get the email-bounces from our email-Campaigns back into our CRM-System. For internal email-bounces everything works fine. It does not work for external emails.
Our email-gateway from Borderware give as bounces messages of type "message" back and all the bounce-information as attachement. Can that be reson why it does not work?
How has the bounce to be structured that SAP-CRM is able to handle the bounce?
Has anyone experiences with Borderware gateways?
Since there is no way to cutomice the Borderware gateway: What can we do, if SAP-CRM is not able to handle attachements?
    Thank's for your help!

  • Bounce management  query

    Hi
I  am trying to carry out Bounce Managemnet scenario.I have made all the settings required for the same as far as Rule modeler and category modeler is concerned.
My problem is that I am unable to test the scenario.
can anybody help me with how i can incorporate it in my email campaign.
    Regards
    Itty

to test it you can do the following.
    Hard Bounces.
    1. Create a business partner with a bad email address
    2. Add that business partner to the target group and send them an email.
    3. Confirm in SCOT that the email ended in Error.
    4.  Check the business partner email address and validate that the "Do not use" flag is set.
    Soft bounces.
    1. Depending on your rules reply to a message with the appropriate text in the search criteria in the subject line.
    2. confirm that the desired actions in your rule take place.
    3. Check the IM_Mail tables to make sure that soft bounce status codes are set.
    hopefully this answers your questions.

  • Rolling bounce - Managed Servers

    Hi All,
We have 3 node cluster. My question is can we restart the servers one by one.
When there is a problem in one of the managed server, we can restart that particular managed server alone correct. Once the failed server is in RUNNING mode, what happens is all the composites in SOAINFRA is initializing in all the managed servers. All the transactions are failing due to this and it takes 10-15 mins of time for initializing the composites in all the servers.
My question is it should initialize the composites only in failed server(post restart) but it is happening in all the servers.
During that case weblogic doesnt aware that the composites are not initialized, but it start sending request. How can we avoid this.
Once all the composites are initialized it should accept request. Is there is any possible ways to do this.
    Kindly help.
    Thanks,
    Maanik

    Hello Kumar,
that's actually a very good question. Does every managed server
    run in its own process?Yes.
I will have to investigate this. All I
can say at the moment is that the web console shows the server
as not running. There's a known issue in 61 sp2 that admin console loosing the discovery
of managed servers under load. May be this is what you are seeing.
Then I start it again, and it runs fine... for aRegardless i want you to check the process id of that managed server and
see if it exists or not...

    while.

  • Buonce Management: Hard Bounce Question

    Hi,
I want to distinguish between a bounceback from an invalid e-mail address and one from an undeliverable e.g. because the ISP is down.
Is this possible in bounce management and if so how do I distinguish in the rule modeler?
    Thanks
    David

    Hi,
Sorry to say, but the marketing bounce management scenario can only be used for marketing campaigns. It is not a general-purpose bounce management application.
Here the follow-up steps, that can be triggered in case a bounce occurred, rely on a reference to a campaign that has been persisted during the campaign execution. The identification of a contacted business partner, who "produced" a bounce, relies on the fact that she/he has been contacted within a marketing campaign.
In case you need to identify email bounces in another scenarios besides campaign management, you need to rely on the general features offered by the SAPConnect layer.
    Best regards,
    Frank

  • Bounce Handling

    Hello Experts,
We are executing a recurring campaign which will pick date as an attribute and filter, that will trigger sending of emails about the Happenings of a particular quadrant to all the stake holders.we are worried about the bounces now.
How do we handle it? what are the various settings involved?
    Any help Greately appreciated.
    regards,
    Muralidhar Prasad.C

    Hi Muralidhar,
To Set Up Bounce Management, you will have to first create Policies and rules in the Rule Modeler.
**We create a rule where we say that if the Email contains the word bounce update the business partner address data.
The Rule Modeler can be set up using PCUI. There choose context BOUNCE MANAGEMENT, with policy Default. Create the rules as u wish to like if email body contains word bounce than update the business partner address.

  • Soft bounce

    Hi,
We are trying to set up bounce management for newsletter campaign management. Hard bounce functionality is working fine and "Do not use" indicator is flagged in the BP records but the soft bounce functionality is not working. For soft bounce like out-of-office notification and mailbox full, we need to send the email again after 7 days. We have done all the settings required as per the document "Prerequisites for bounce managment" in SWETYPV transaction and SO50 transaction. (Please note out-of-office notifications are coming in SAP System and can be seen in trace in transaction SOST).
Secondly, we are not able to use any other Services for hard bounce that are available as standard for ERMS context for bounce context like Forward Email etc.
Thirdly, for hard bounces where delivery errors are not classified as "permanent" e.g. mail sent by receiving server that so and so person has left the company and is no longer available. We tried to set up by setting up a rule that if "Particular words are in the email body" then "Bounce Address Data Update". But this does not work.
Any help will be appreciated and suitably rewarded.
    Thanks,
    Deepak

  • Bounce - Soft error type

    Hi all,
I'm setting up automatic campaign and bouncing. I was wondering if it's possible to resend bounced email (soft errors..like full inbox) automatically.
    Do you have any tips?
    Thank you

    Hi Antonio,
1> In SPRO , Goto 'Define Receiving E-Mail Addresses/Fax Numbers', here you you define incoming e-mail addresses and fax numbers for the Agent Inbox
2> In SPRO > ERMS > Service manager > Define service profiles, then assign Service profiles
(. Service manager profiles determine which services and related properties are executed or performed and in what sequence when called by the service manager).
3> In transaction 'SWETYPV', create a new entry : (select from F4 help correct values)
    Example;
    Object Category = BOR type
    Object Type = CRM_DOCU
    Event = BounceRecieved
Receiver Type = WS14000111 , Type link box checked and No error in list box.
4> Then in WEBUI , create corresponding Rule Policies , having Context as "Bounce management".
Define correct details in Policy and also can attach Actions.
Hope this information is useful and answers your query.
    Regards,
    Anup
