BP for Assets - Installation question

Hi everybody,
I'm going trough the installation guide for BP for Assets (SAP note 446426).
It says in order to create the systems nessecary, I have to edit systems.xml and jcoDestination.xml by hand.
Is there a way to create the system(s?) using the portal interface, and if so, can you tell me how or point me to the right documentation?
Thanks a lot!

Are You working on EP5 or 6?

  • Architecture for Disco installation question

    Scene setting:
10 centrally managed sites want a discoverer solution. sites access to applications managed via rules on firewall which restrict access via an IP range comig from a site.
I want to run a nightly database refresh to a reporting database. the database can be single instance with 10 schemas or 10 instances with single schema.
On front end, I install discoverer and point it at the reporting database(s).
    Question
what options do I have for installing discoverer?
I can have multiple installs, is there a problem with this on one server?
Or preferably have 1 install and point at
    a) multiple databases instances, or
    b)multiple schemas on 1 instance
from a sinlge disco install can I present out multiple URLs, example, http://discoverer/site<#>, where URL to site<#> is tied on firewall and site<#> is also a business area in discoverer.

    Hi
In chapter 20 of my Oracle Discoverer 10g Handbook, available on amazon, I cover configuring Discoverer. Pages 803 to 808 specifically cover managing Discoverer for high availability, which essentially means load balancing. Here is the first paragraph from that section:
Two fundamental advantages exist to having multiple Discoverer middle tiers. One is high availability, ; the other is load balancing. If your organization does not have a hardware load balancer, you can configure Oracle Web Cache to perform the load balancing for you. The fundamental challenge to load balancing Discoverer is that each user must stay connected to the same Discoverer server for their entire session. Fortunately, Oracle Web Cache has a feature called session binding that will guarantee this. If you are going to use a hardware load balancer, this is known as “sticky-bit” configuration.
There is plenty of documentation on OTN for Discoverer, http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/appserver1012.html, documentation that in the configuration guide covers the setting up of load balancing. So you can either download Oracle's excellent guide or you can look in my book.
As for being able to present multiple URLs out of the same Discoverer server it depends what you are trying to do.
If you're trying to limit what users can see then you might want to consider using a VPD to control what users can access.
Or are you saying that you want to make different EULs available to the users? In this case you can add a switch to the URL that will prefill the EUL section of the log in form. For example, if you have an EUL called SALES you can do this:
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/plus?&eul=SALES
Other setting you can make could be the userid and / or the database, like this:
    http://<machine.domain>:<port>/discoverer/plus?us=michael&database=salesoffice&eul=SALES
    Does this help?
    Best wishes

  • X79-gd45 (8d) - Windows 7 Pro x64 installation questions

    Hi,
I have a MSI X79-GD45(8D) board with i7-3930k processor that I am trying to install Win 7 x64 Pro on.  I have a Sandisk Xtreme 240 SSD that I will be using as a system disk and 2X WD 1TB Black SATA 6GB/s (faex) drives that I will be using in a RAID 1 configuration for storing quickbooks and other data.  This machine will run a quickbooks enterprise server serving 10 people
I want to get the installation right from the get go so that I can start testing it asap.  Here are the steps that I will be taking to get this going.  Could you folks comment on it so that I can modify it as needed.  Thanks.
I have already installed the main board, 32GB RAM, Processor, fans etc and have setup the case.  It does post without issues so far.  Now for the installation, I have not partitioned the SSD (intend to make use of the full 240 GB) and leave the WD disks in a Raid 1 taking up the whole disk space (no partitions).
I am installing Win 7 x64 Pro on the SSD.  Here I have several questions:
    1. Do I set the SATA mode to RAID or should I just leave it at AHCI? I am assuming that this board recognizes drives in AHCI mode and installs Win 7.  I ask this question because I will be using two WD SATA drives in Raid 1 for storing data later.  Will the SATA mode be AHCI irrespective of that fact or should I change it to RAID after installing Win 7?
    2. Should I install Intel RSTe iaAHCI or iaStorA (ver RSTe_Win7_8_64bit_3.5.0.1101_F6) with the F6 option for the setup I mentioned.  I know the F6 installation in Win XP, but a little confused with Win 7.  I ask this because, I have read some discussions of Intel drivers vs Microsoft's version for AHCI.  Raid is confusing though.  Please explain in detail if you can.  Appreciated.
3 If I do F6 installation, do I install the AHCI/RAID drivers again after Win 7 is installed or does Windows properly load the F6 installation?
SSD, AHCI are all new to me with this build.  I have tried to educate myself, but have some of the confusions that I listed above.  Please explain how I can properly install it to the spec that I outlined above.
Your time, patience and help are all appreciated.  Thanks

1.) IF you are going to be using the mainboads raid controller for the data drive. You need to set the mode to raid for the os install as well. Unless you are going to use the extra chipset for the SSD. (Ports 7 &8) You won't be able to enable raid later w/o re-installing the os.
2.) I put the os(Install) on a usb flash drive, I also include all of the drivers on this flash drive and load the newest versions even if it detects the drive right out of the gate.
3.)Once inside  the OS, you would install the irst drivers there as well. (They are combined the raid bios / drivers and os drivers)
If this isn't going to be a very high I/o server, I probably wouln't bother with the SSD but since you have it you would just use it as a non-member drive of the raid. Have a fast drive for the os, isn't going to help the server all that much as most of the I/O will be on the data drive.
If this is going to be a heavily used server(high i/o) you may want to look at a raid 5 configuration for the os and data drives. As SSD's degrade over time and aren't really optimal for contant use like in a server. Raid 5 requires 3 drives minimum and is striping and mirroring so you get the best of both worlds.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Standard_RAID_levels
However, the board based raid controller isn't really the best for this set up. I am fairly loyal to Adaptec Raid controllers although you need to contact Adaptec (or whoever) in regards to compatiblity as MSI doesn't test server compoents on thier desktop products.
This is the one I last used:

  • Derivation of Funds Center from cost center for Asset PR/PO in FM

    Hello Experts,
We configured new FM area and relevant BCS settings. It is working fine except PR or PO for Account assignment category A.
Issue: system is not able derive funds center from cost center in the asset master. cost center is not updated in EBKN table for Asset PR.
    we have maintained the following;
    1. Funds center is activated in Asset account assignments
    2. Maintained derivation rule with function module: FMDT_READ_MD_ASSET
    3. Derivation rule for cost center to funds center also maintained
If maintain funds center manually in PR it is working fine and consuming budget also.
Requirement: How derive funds center from cost center assigned in asset. I have verified all tickets raised in this forum, but nothing has answered my question.
Request you to provide solution for above issue.
    Thanks in advance for support.
    Regards,
    Chalapathi

    Hi Venkata,
You have two derivation rules, first related to Asset function module and second one is related to CC and FC combination.
You need to maintain the function module derivation rule first then you need to maintain the derivation rule related to combination of CC and FC. Because first you need to derive CC from asset master and then you need to derive fund center with reference to this CC.

  • Document date is earlier than acquisition date for asset

Client has an asset which they want to post an acquistion for as of 1/1/2011. They are in December of 2011. They first put an acquisition in with 12/31/2011 and then cancelled it, realizing they needed a docdate of 1/1/2011. When they try to redo the acquisition with a docdate of 1/1/2011 they get the error "Document date is earlier than acquisition date for asset xxxxx"
The capitalization date on the asset is 1/1/2011. I looked at the acquisition date (thorugh SQL) and it is "1899-12-30 00:00:00.000"
Does anyone know why it is preventing from posting?
(Posting dates allowed are 1/1/11-12/31/11 for period 12 of 2011 and the period is unlocked)
    Alan

    Hi
I do believe that the problem is in the capitalization date 12/31/2011
Even if you have cancellled the first acqusition , and the acquisition date has taken the dummy date that assets have when there are no acqusitions 1899-12-30 00:00:00.000
Still the capitalization date remains 12/31/2011
and this will deter any transactions earlier than 12/31/2011
    My question is,
can you still edit the field capitalization date?

  • Wrong profit center on material doc (Goods Receipt against PO for Asset)

    Dear SAP Expert,
When our company upgrade our SAP version from 4.6C to ECC6, all Profit Center on Material document (Goods Receipt on Purchase Order for Asset) is filled by profit center DUMMY.
This condition not happend in our previous version (4.6C). Is there any new configuration on ECC6?
    Many Thanks
    Maickel P

    HI Werner,
    Based on Note 684659
    Question 10:
"Why aren't the correct profit centers derived from the account assignment objects?"
    Response[1]:
You first have to maintain the account assignment objects as described in the response for question.
    Action:
I Already assign account assignment object PS_PSP_PNR "WBS Element of Investment Project", transaction type '*', account assignment type 'APC Values Posting' because our transaction is using WBS element as an account assignment on purchase order.
(Before I assign this account assignment object on t-code ACSET all transaction for asset which account assignment using WBS element doesn't generate controlling document on GR process)
    Response[2]:
You also have to make sure that the profit center is ready for input in the field status of the account and the posting key.
    Question:
Where I have to check this condition?
Please check the field status of the account FS00 if Profit Center and Cost Center maintained optional.
    Action:
I Already check on "FS00 - Edit cost element" and found that "Default account assignment" is blank

  • Asset accounting-QUESTIONS

    Hi Gurus,
I got some questions for asset accounting request all of you to kindly extend your help
    my questions are
What is Asset History? ( OAOA)
    2)     How the data flows from Asset Accounting to Controlling?
    3)     When the asset value is zero and the Company is still using the asset then, how the Company generally proceed to calculate depreciation further? (Curb) (SPRO>Financial Accounting>Asset Accounting>Depreciation>Valuation Methods> Depreciation Key>Calculation Methods> Define Base Methods)
    4)     In asset accounting, why 0% Tax code is created for not taxable transaction and why it is compulsory to do it before assigning the chart of depreciation to company code?
    5)     What configuration is required to bring all the “Fields” in depreciation area tap of Asset master creation?(AO21) and (AS01)
[If we make any changes in Tcode AO21 and they are not getting reflected in depreciation area (Last Tab) in creation of asset master (AS01). So how to make the configuration to get those changes reflected in dep. area (last tab) in creation of asset]
    6)     What are difference between Germany Chart of Dep. and Great Britain Chart of Dep. (UK)?
    Be assured about the points
    Thx
    Vinod R Khelani

    Hello
Charts of depreciation are used in order to manage various legal requirements for the depreciation and valuation of assets. These charts of depreciation are usually country-specific and are defined independently of the other organizational units. A chart of depreciation, for example, can be used for all the company codes in a given country
In the simplest scenario, all of your company codes are in the same country and are subject to the same legal requirements for asset valuation, meaning that you only need one chart of depreciation.
The chart of depreciation consists of the following parts:
In general, you are required to calculate values for assets for different needs, both internal and external (such as book depreciation and cost depreciation). Therefore, the Asset Accounting component enables you to manage values for assets in parallel in up to 99 depreciation areas. The chart of depreciation, therefore, is a directory of depreciation areas organized according to business management requirements. You define the characteristics, and thereby the significance, of the individual depreciation areas in each chart of depreciation. A depreciation area is always assigned to only one chart of depreciation.
You flexibly define the keys for the automatic depreciation of assets in each chart of depreciation. They are based on elements for calculation (calculation methods, period controls, and so on) that are available client-wide.
    Use
SAP supplies typical reference charts of depreciation for each country. They have different depreciation areas and depreciation keys depending on that country’s specific requirements. You cannot use these charts of depreciation directly. You must create your own chart of depreciation by copying the reference chart of depreciation. Delete any depreciation areas that are not needed.
You can document the meaning of any chart of depreciation you set up in the system by writing a description for it.

  • EPMA Server not starting for New Installation of EPM 11.1.2.2.0

Hi i am having problem of EPMA Server not getting started .... i installed many times and configured but problem still persists that's first time i am installing the EPM suite so plz bear me for any stupid questions.....
    I am using :
    Oracle Version: 11.2.0.1.0
    EPM Version: 11.1.2.2.0
    Note:
    1. While installing Oracle Client i used first option to install "Oracle Instant Client " with minimum configuration.
    2. While configuring Database in " EPM System Configurator" window...in Server name it was not taking exact server name instead was taking "localhost". So i used localhost...Can this be an issue?
In EPM Configuration I got message that "Oracle data access client not installed" is it related to EPM Server.
I am confused about installation is "ODAC" and "Oracle Data Access Client" are same or different. As i am not getting "Oracle Data Access Client" to download.
I just want " Essbase , Planning and Reporting Applications".
Please do help as i need to solve this problem urgently.
    Thanks in Advance.
    -Sushil

Is this a personal install of the EPM? If so you may need to install the MS Loopback adaptor for Oracle db first
For EPMA it may be easier just to install the full Oracle Client as it should work then.

  • Post-Capitalization of Cash Discount for Asset

    Hi,
We are in ECC 6.0 and have activated Document Splitting.
Further, have provided asset field in Define post capitalization of cash discount to assets in Document Splitting of SPRO.
After the both, my expectation is to see the entry as stated by SAP in the scenario of Post-Capitalization of Cash Discount for Asset.
But unfortunately, the discount amount is not being capitalized on the payment date, but is being posted to cash discount account.
Kindly let me know what mistake i might have carried for this.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Purna.
Scenario: Posted invoice for asset purchase using F-90 with payment terms as 2% cash discount if paid within 15 days.
Assume: Asset purchased on 06.01.2012 and as per the payment term if paid before 20.01.2012 i will get 2% cash discount.
Have made the payment to vendor using T-code F-53 on 10.01.2012, even though i see a cash discount is being calculated as required, but the account is an cash discount received account. Instead, what i was expecting is the asset account.
Hope, my question is being clear and i will look forward for a reply.

    Hi,
    Please check your config below.
    IMG->FA->AA->Transactions->Acquistions->Prevent Subsequent Capitalisation of discounts...
If the indicator is set for your company code, system will not capitalised the subsequent discounts.

  • Posting not possible in Purchase Order created for Asset.

    Hi All
I have created a Purchase Order for Asset. While making down payment for the same through f-48, I am not able to post the same. How I will take care of this?
Please guide how to make the posting.....
    Thanks
    Ruby

    Hi,
your question is not clear. There are two possibiliteis-
    1. you are making the payment with reference to PO. In this case enter PO number and the line item number in po in option Purcgase doc.
2.You are making the down payment against the asset. In this case you need to configure in AO90 the DP Accounts. And put the asset number in f-48 while entering the data.

Which table contains net book value for Assets created with AS91.
I have a problem locating where the net book value is stored in SAP.  Is it simply calculated and not stored in any one place?  I am trying to predict how SAP will calculate the net book value for some assets we plan on converting, but my formula doesn't always work consistently and I have not idea what is going on.  If it is stored in a table some place, can anyone please let me know!
    Thank you all

    Hi anar.samadzade & Michael Stewart
It is not possible to directly get net book value of an any Table. You must migrate the gross book value (acquisition cost) and the accumulated depreciation. SAP will then calculate the NBV.
Gross Block & Accumulate Dep you will get from Table: ANLC

How can I tell if my software installed properly? The software came with three discs, and it only installed the first disc. I am new to Photoshop, and do not know if my software installed properly? Can anyone help?

    Gautham K,
    Thank you for your quick replies. I have checked,and my OS is indeed 64 bit. I have been using the 32 bit version of Adobe Photoshop Elements 10, since I installed it last evening. I have a few quick questions;
Will I loose any functionality if I stay with the 32 bit version versus un-installing and installing the 64 bit version from disc 2?
If I decide to un-install, and re-install from disc 2, will there be any software registration issues (as I have already registered the software)?

    Hi,
I bought a mac office for 2008 installer and it's good for 3 macs (3 genuine license keys). I was thinking of creating DVD copies of it so I have backups for the other macs where I will install it.
Is this possible? Can I just copy the contents of the mac installer. I'm slowly switching to mac and i'm not sure if the process is just the same as in windows.

We are looking to install Documaker 12.3 Enterprise Edition and have the following installation questions:
When installing Documaker can we have our own VM in our own OU for the WAS application servers? This will make maintenance easier on our side.  There doesn’t seem to be anything in the documentation saying this is a good or a bad idea.
Our WAS Admins would like to know what the scripts in the Post-Setup documentation actually do.  Is it possible to use our existing scripting environment to build the necessary pieces instead of using scripts from the documaker install?  If it’s not possible, can we get a look at the documaker scripts before we run them?
We would like to know if WAS 8.5 is supported, or if version 7.0.0.27 in the requirements pdf is the only version supported?

When installing Documaker can we have our own VM in our own OU for the WAS application servers? This will make maintenance easier on our side.  There doesn’t seem to be anything in the documentation saying this is a good or a bad idea.
The typical installation scenario is to have 3 tiers - application (WAS), application (Documaker), and data. WAS tiers host web applications (Dashboard, Administrator, Interactive) as well as providing database connection pools and JMS queues for messaging - it is expected that the WAS environment is a clustered environment and that the applications are deployed to the cluster members, which can be physical or virtual. For the Documaker application server, these can be physical or virtual as well. It's recommended to install Documaker on single-purposes environments, however there's nothing to prevent you from doing otherwise. The Documaker applications are self-contained JVMs and can be tuned accordingly.

The installation process (currently) writes the scripts according to responses provided during the installation process. The scripts can be reviewed/modified prior to execution.

The official supported version of WAS is 7.0.0.27, however WAS 8.5 may be suitable (I believe there might be a fix pack requirement there - would recommend you submit a question to Oracle Support for verification).
