BSOD's and boot errors on HP Blackbird 002

Hello,
I have a HP BLACKBIRD 002 LC with Quad Core - Intel(R) Core2(TM) Quad-Core 2.4GHz Q6600, 2 GB 1066MHz CORSAIR PC2-8500 DDR2 SDRAM, ASUS Striker Extreme, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX, with 768MB of GDDR3 SDRAM running Microsoft Windows Vista Ultimate.
I’ve had it since December 2007 and have had no problems whatsoever until this past December (2011).  Around the 30th or 31st of December, I started getting Blue Screens of Death (BSOD’s) at random points all with multiple and variable errors.  I’ve tried going into SAFE mode and SAFE mode with networking to resolve the issue, but would eventually get a BSOD.  Sometimes now, it won’t even power on the monitor or it shuts down completely when I try to enter the BIOS setup.  Other times, it boots into the NVIDIA boot agent and then exits due to some error.
Prior to December 2011 and the errors, I did not install any new hardware nor any major software, besides routine software upgrades that would pop up.  I conducted weekly scans with AVG virus software.  Last major thing I did was uninstall a game.
Since then I have tried changing the power source cabling, checking the seating of components and cabling inside, recovering Windows to earlier images (20 and then 15 December), re-installing Windows, replacing the CMOS battery, and running whatever memory or hardware diagnostic tools that I can find in the internal menus and the Vista CD.  My brother-in-law, who works as an IT help desk guy, took a look at it remotely and couldn’t figure it out.  I sent him some of the Minidump files(which I still have and can send) and the best he could isolate was consistent errors in the Minidump files with this “ntkrnlpa.exe    ntkrnlpa.exe+1026e0    0x82411000    0x827cb000    0x003ba000    0x4ea6b87e .”
I did not make a recovery disc since the shadow copy backed everything up.  I do have a full system image from earlier in December that I can use to recover my files, so at this point I’m fine with restoring the factory settings if that’s even possible.
I have no idea what to do next, so would appreciate any advice.  Thanks.

I'd pull the "backplane" (the PCB out) and run power and data cables to the drives which I would keep in there caddys.
...and as you said if you need the LED lighting, you can always find a power source for those somewhere.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
That alert codes does suggest there is a USB related issue. If you haven’t already, try the troubleshooting suggestions in the article linked below.

  • The boot selection failed because a device is inaccessible, not the usual boot error though?? (0xc000000e)

    Hey,
I need some help fast please. I recently booted up my gaming rig after swapping out a 7970 graphics card and upon system boot up, as the windows 7 logo appeared the system crashes and a BSOD appears for a split millisecond and I'm asked to start up repair windows
or start windows normally however when I click start up repair a black error screen appears with the following message and error: The boot selection failed because a device is inaccessible error state and an error code:0xc000000e. Now of fixed this before
multiple times except this instance nothing seems to work Ive tried the following:
    - check for any unplugged or loose cables
    - Re installed my ram
    - Booted with on board graphics
    - unplugged all usb devices and external devices with the exception of the keyboard and mouse
    - Booted with system installation disc and attempted system repair several times only with the same outcome of wanting to restore from a previous system restoration point however it always fails
    - changed the boot type to IDE which made the system boot furhter past the logo screen however it still crashes with the same error
    - From the system installation disc I ran a chkdsk /f and no corruptions or bad sectors were found
However, I did run from the installation disc a "bcdedit" and my osdevice was  unkown and my boot manager and boot loader were set to two different drives on being D: and the other being C:. So I re-linked all three back to the D: drive as the
windows installation disc says thats where Windows 7 is installed, although in the actual windows 7 My Computer its listed as C: drive which is weird? anyways after re-linking them using bcdedit /set {default} osdevice partition=D: and the other two commands
my recovery partition disappeared  which was listed as C:, and now I can only see my local drive? That did not fix the error so I tried one last thing and ran another chkdsk D: /f /r which is taking for ages and I'm assuming my hard drive and its contents
are still intact ( thank god!!) because its taking so long and there are 612080 files to be processed!
I thought I might try and rebuild Master Boot Record?
I don't want to loose any of my data, well I hope I haven't lost any because I have over 150+ games and their saves :(
Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated :D
    thanks guys!

    Hi,
Repair the current OS using the Windows 2008 / 7 DVD:
    Boot to the Windows DVD
Select Next > Repair your computer
    Select Next > Command Prompt
    Change directory (cd) to x:\Sources\recovery
then type Startrep.exe to launch a quick automated startup repair utility which corrects boot environment values. This step may require more than one attempt and should be repeated a couple of times if the first repair fails.
If step 3 fails, open the command prompt and type bcdedit This
will display the values for Windows Boot Manager.
Review the values for Device. Is it set to unknown, as shown below? If so, proceed to step 7.
At the command prompt, type the following commands (c: is the default system partition. If your original partition was another drive letter, this value can be set to that drive letter):
    bcdedit
    /set {DEFAULT.EN_US} device partition=c:
    (press enter)
    bcdedit
    /set {DEFAULT.EN_US} osdevice partition=c:
    (press enter)
    bcdedit
    /set {BOOTMGR.EN_US} device partition=c:
    (press enter)
Reboot the system after removing the OS disk.
    Hope it helps,

  • BSoD after installing Boot Camp 3.0 into Win 7 Pro x64

I installed Windows 7 Professional x64 into the partition created by the Boot Camp Assistent (3.0.4), the whole windows setup worked just fine and finished as usual. Then, after the final reboot to finish the windows setup I installed the Boot Camp software and drivers from my 10.6 DVD. The setup finished and promted me to restart the system - no problems so far. But just as Windows rebooted and was about to show the desktop, it crashed with with a BSoD providing no precise imfomation as to which driver could have caused it.
I have re-installed Windows and Boot Camp about ten times now, and no matter what I tried, the result always remained the same.
I booted in Safe Mode and tried to update to Boot Camp 3.1 and 3.2, but near the end of the setup it shows that Keyagent and MacHAL could not be installed (Setup said the Updates were installed successfully though).
When I rebooted Windows normally it was still the same - BSoD just when the desktop was about to be shown.
I have absolutely no idea what causes this. The BSoD only shows a hex-code, but I wasn't able to write it down since it disappears too quick and I don't know how to 'pause' using the integrated keyboard.
    • Computer is a MBP mid '09 running 10.6.8 with all updates
    • Boot Camp version is 3.0
    • Provided drivers on the Snow Leopard DVD are for XP and Vista/Vista x64 only, but since the setup completes without any error message I assume those Vista drivers are OK
    • Windows - as stated above - is a 7 Professional x64
So, does anyone have an idea what might be the problem and/or how to solve this issue?
If any possibly useful information missing please ask and I'll add them.
    Thanks in advance

Well, at least my Windows won't boot after renaming them to *.sys.old.
But anyway, these two drivers aren't the cause, instead it's actually BootCamp.exe and/or the trackpad or keyboard drivers.
This guy had the exact same problem and the 'solution' was to disable BootCamp.exe.
    https://discussions.apple.com/message/10301692#10301692
I finally managed to install all Boot Camp updates but still nothing has changed; as soon as I launch BootCamp.exe or change settings for the trackpad the system crashes.
It seems I have two options now: Use Windows without "Tap to click", "Secondary Tap" and modified keyboard settings, or find suitable trackpad/keyboard drivers.
Speaking of which, is there any chance to get Boot Camp drivers for Win 7? Maybe this would solve my problem since I only have Vista/x64 drivers which I used for Win 7.
    Thanks!

After power up PC and boot with windows 7 all usb devices works normaly.
I checked all internal connections. 2 times disassembly all hardware and re-built system, nothing changed. All windows updates and latest drivers installed.
I'm sure other H/W is OK, but I thnik this mobo have a fault.

  • Satellite L300D - recovery error BSOD+imagex.exe application error

    Hi,
My Laptop lost function a while ago due to some unknown errors. I managed to get most of the data out through safemode and have transfered them to my desktop.
The problem I am having now is repairing my laptop. I have since lost my receipt and therefore unable to claim warranty; but I figured I could restore my computer to its factory state with the recovery disk I created. The original problem and the one I am facing can be seen here...-> http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=153146#153146 <-
As you can see from that thread, the recovery disk didn't work. So based on the advice I received I went to a Toshiba authorised computer repairs centre today and they replaced my Hard Disk Drive with a Fujitsu SATA 120GB. I then attempted to use the recovery disk but ran into a few hiccups. 1) A BSOD comes up randomly during the restoration i.e. During image copying it would pop up... sometimes it would pop up when it is finalising the recovery. 2) Sometimes, the BSOD will be bipassed and instead, an error would come up at 3% of installation finalising saying that img could not be copied from HDD to C/:! 3)Sometimes an image.exe application error would come up saying 'The instruction at 0x77c45a20 referenced memory at 0x00000000. The memory could not be written. Click on OK to terminate the programme.'
NOTE: None of the these problems occur in the same recovery trial. But they DO come up randomly and when they do, I have to restart the computer and try again.
My question is this. Since the last piece of advice was to replace my faulty HDD, and I have done so, why am I still unable to repair my computer? And if it is not the matter of HDD, then what is the problem here? I am desperate in fixing my laptop as it is meant to be my 14 year old desktop replacement. Thank you all for your kind attention; I only hope that there is someone out there who has faced and overcome such a problem before.

    Hi!
Its not easy to say what the reason is for this. It could be a faulty RAM, mainboard or maybe the HDD again. So it could be bad luck that the new HDD is also faulty
I think you should test something on your notebook with special diagnostic tools.
    http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/download.htm#DFT
With the Drive Fitness Test you can test your HDD. Download the CD image, burn it on a CD and boot from it. Then you can test the HDD.
On the same website is a user guide if you want to know more.
    http://memtest86.com/
Memtest86 is a diagnostic tool to check the RAM. There you can also download a CD image.
Its easy to use. Run the test 3-4 hours and then you will see if the RAM has some errors.
After this post your result. Maybe one the tests can find an error.
If not you should try it with a Microsoft installation disk. Maybe the recovery disk is scratchy or so
In you cant find something you should go to the ASP again. Speak with the technicians and explain the situation. I think they will try to help you as fast as possible.
    Bye

  • Frequent and chronic Slowness on Late 2009 21.5" iMac, Issues with Display, Fan, and Booting

    Hello,
Sorry for the repost, but I realized after the edit period had passed that I left out a lot of information from my original post, and that I misrepresented my problem in the question heading. Because of this, I am posting again with the updated information.
I  am using a 21.5" iMac from Late 2009 with OSX Mavericks 10.9.2.  Recently, I have been experiencing several signs of failure/aging during  use:
    Frequent:
Mail.app slow opening, closing; messages opened in large batches do not get marked as read
Terminal.app experiences noticeable lag when opening (it sometimes takes between 5 and 20 seconds between launching the application and getting an active prompt)
Processes lag or become unresponsive, even when not many applications are running
Browswers frequently become unresponsive, pinwheel, or lag considerably, frequently requiring a force-quit.
    Mouse Pinwheels Frequently
    Intermittent
Computer  generates loudly audible fan noises, persists even when computer is  briefly powered off during a reboot; does not always stop after  rebooting
    Finder often becomes unresponsive
    Rare (one time only)
Machine  powered on in "Safe Boot" mode for no apparant reason; red text reading  "Safe Boot" in menu bar of login screen; background picture slideshow  mode became very glitchy, phased and flashed in horizontal grey bars  before loading next background image
    Chronic (Consistently Happens)
Machine  will not boot if plugged into normal powerpoint after being unplugged  from that power-point; cable must be plugged into a different A/C power  outlet for machine to boot, at which point it can be switched off again,  moved back to the original dedicated outlet, and booted again. This has  never failed to happen, and is mind-boggling.
I followed some instructions from a similar thread,  but I felt that my experiences were sufficiently different that I  couldn't troubleshoot from someone else's solution. I would greatly  appreciate any technical advice and help that the community can offer.

This indicates that your Bootcamp partition is still FAT, which also indicates that the Windows Installer has not been used to reformat it to NTFS yet, as required by Windows Installer. No Windows installation exists yet.
2: If I don't hold down option key with my USB plugged in, it gives me a black screen saying "Non-system disk, press any key to reboot". My keyboard is unresponsive. I have to hard shut down my computer.
The NVRAM in the Mac (as set by Bootcamp Assistant) is telling it to boot from the built-in Optical drive. Is it fully functional and has Windows Installer media in it or broken? Since no drivers have been loaded, the Keyboard/Mouse which are BT/USB, will not function.
From iMac (21.5-inch, Late 2009) - Technical Specifications, it has a built-in Optical drive...
    Optical drive
    Slot-loading 8x SuperDrive (DVD±R DL/DVD±RW/CD-RW)
Writes DVD+R DL and DVD-R DL discs at up to 4x speed
Writes DVD-R and DVD+R discs at up to 8x speed
Writes DVD-RW discs at up to 6x speed and DVD+RW discs at up to 8x speed
Reads DVDs at up to 8x speed
Writes CD-R discs at up to 24x speed
Writes CD-RW discs at up to 16x speed
Reads CDs at up to 24x speed
3: If I don't hold down option key and it is without my USB plugged in, it gives me a black screen saying "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key". My keyboard is, again, unresponsive. I have to hard shut down my computer.
No bootable media in Optical drive, hence this error.

    Hi
    Error -2125
OK Error code - 2125 usually indicates that the movie is to large.
It use to pop up when going to iDVD !
iDVD - DO NOT CARE ABOUT Gbs at all. I got movies on 500Mb that do not fit and 50Gb that fits nicely.
iDVD - ONLY CARES ABOUT - Duration. Duration is Movie time + MENU TIME. Choice of
menu and animation of this can take lost of "DURATION" 15 minutes or even more.
Choice of encoding method and use of SL or DL DVDs determine the DVD limit.
    iDVD 08 & 09 & 11 has three levels of qualities.
iDVD 6 has the two last ones
    • Professional Quality (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - BEST
    • Best Performances (movies + menus less than 60 min.) - High quality on final DVD
    • High Quality (in iDVD08 or 09) / Best Quality (in iDVD6) (movies + menus up to 120 min.) - slightly lower quality than above
DL DVDs can store about double of these times.
ALTERNATIVE - The Error Code can indicate that free space on Start-up (BOOT) hard disk is
    less than 25Gb (my minimum)

If you are getting OSStatus error -2125, I've seen this caused by the computer display sleep settings.
Try changing the sleep settings to never and see if you are able to export.

  • How to get system and boot on one volume - currently on 2 volumes

I have ended up with 2 hard drives one of which has Windows 7 on one partition and the other one has 2 volumes each with Windows 8.1 installed.  This 8.1 drive has one volume (D) marked as Active, Boot and the other volume (C) marked as System.

  • Win 8 boot error; Dual booting Arch/pre-installed Win8.1

Hello everyone! My name is kuhi and I have this problem that's driving me insane. I've tried all sorts of things... googling here and there, up and down.
The setup worked splendidly until one morning I turned my computer on, booting into the Windows Boot Manager from grub. Suddenly, out of the blue, I get this error:
Required device isn't connected... Error: 0xc0000225
Now none of the options in the recovery mode work... Refresh, reset, particular command prompt commands, you name it.
Another thing is, this error seems to have locked the windows partition itself, thus hinding it from itself, I guess. Now I can't even mount the drive on linux. It just tells me that I'm not authorized to do that. All I want right now is to access the filesystem and retrieve some of the personal files left in there, then It can all go to hell.
I don't know what to do. I've tried different BIOS and Boot options thinking it might work, but with no avail. I'm lost, is there anyone out there, who has ever met this kinda error? Or at least someone, who can point me in the right direction? I'll be happy to provide any information I can get.
    Thanks in advance,
    kuhi.

YOU ARE AMAZING! Thanks a lot... it seems that after getting the packages you listed I am now able to mount and access the Windows8 partition. Doesnt neccessarily fix my issue, but at least I can retrieve lost filed. You are truly the saint
Edit: now i dont know how to open Docs & Settings as it seems to be an unsupported file, but ill try to figure that out
Edit2: hell its probably like password locked
Edit3: turns out its a broken symbolic link to /mnt/.NTFS-3G/C:/Users.. any way to fix this broken link

I have had my iMac for 55 days now and twice I had to power off/on and then It does not power up correctly.  I verified my disk and found errors that could not be repaired (errors were associated with boot drive)  I erased the drive and restored system back to the previous day.  Has anyone else experienced this problem?

Since it's a new machine, contact Apple's Support and let them deal with it. Allen's already recommended an Apple repair station visit. Do note that if you have AppleCare's protection plan and you're within 50 miles (80 KM) of an Apple repair station, you might be eligible for an onsite repair since yours is a desktop machine (depends on where you're located).  BTW, the AppleCare Protection Plan's the best warranty policy available for desktop machines. Get it if you don't have it before contacting Apple.

  • Boot error in OS8 -- no CD-ROM, how do I fix it?

OK, I have an old PowerBook 2400c. It was working fine when I got it, running OS8.something, but the previous owner hadn't deleted any of their programs or files before giving it away. Since the hard drive is so small, I went through and deleted all their old crap (a bunch of teaching and networking programs I either have no use for or don't have the hardware they're supposed to support, documents and pictures, etc.). I was careful not to touch the system files, but something still got screwed up (the files on this computer were such a mess, I wouldn't be surprised of some system files had gotten moved from where they belonged). Now when the computer starts up I get an error message saying it can't finish booting because some system file is missing. The message asks for me to restart the computer and boot from the system disk that came with it. Well, I didn't get any system disks with it. I picked up a 3.5" external floppy drive on eBay that connects to one of the weird round ports on the back (whatever they're called), so I can load software off floppies onto it.
Basically, what I need to do is get some of the programs backed up, along with the handful of my documents that are on it (I have a way to back all this up now). What I'll do then is a clean system install. But I need a boot disk so I can get the data off the computer, and I'm not sure what system I'm supposed to buy. I know it was running OS 8, but it looks like that only comes on CD, and the only drives compatible with this computer are floppy. The one version of OS8 comes with two floppies, though. Is that what I need to get the computer up and running again? Should I buy the 8 CD and make floppy copies (and, if so, how do I do that?). It looks like OS 7.6 comes on floppy disk. Is that the system I should get instead of 8? It's very important that I get the computer up and running so I can retrieve the programs and data before I reinstall anything. Thanks in advance for help.

Ripping the clamshells down is very easy for me because I do it 5-10 times a week to refurbish them. I could probably replace the motherboard in a clamshell with my eyes closed.
I've gotten the powerbook up and running perfectly again. I'm going to post how I did it for the benefit of anyone else who encounters a similar problem (keep in mind I'm used to taking apart Apple laptops, though I'd never worked on an old PowerBook before).
I used the guide posted here http://members.aol.com/kim/computer/duo/2400cpu/2400upgrade.html to disassemble the PowerBook. The guide's technically for upgrading the CPU, but, since that requires taking the entire computer completely apart, you can use it for doing just about any upgrade or repair. There's two extra screws on the opposite side of the electronics board from the hard drive that will need to be removed to take the hard drive out that aren't mentioned in the guide. The pins on the hard drive connect sideways, so you'll need to lift it up in back and pull it away from the connection, rather than trying to pull it up.
Once I had the hard drive out of the PowerBook, I put it into a waiting firewire clamshell (when I was first learning how to repair the clamshells I used the ifixit.com guides, which are pretty good). The PowerBook's hard drive isn't actually quite the same size as the clamshell's hard drive (it's a little thicker) but the pins connect right. Clamshells are roomy enough inside that you can get the essentials (optical drive, LCD, keyboard, trackpad, etc) put back into place with the the thick hard drive in (not sure this would work with a less roomy type of laptop). I then firewired the clamshell with the PB's hard drive in it to my lime and booted it into target disk mode. This worked flawlessly and gave me access to all the information on the PB's hard drive.
Once I had all the programs and files I wanted transferred, I put a retail CD of OS 9.1 that I found in my 'software I never use' box into the clamshell's CD drive. I erased the hard drive and did a clean install of OS 9.1, and installed a bunch of other software (Appleworks, kidpix, etc.) off CD. I then reconnected with my lime in target disk mode and transferred all the other programs and files I wanted.
Once I was sure I had everything and all the programs were running, I took the PB's hard drive out of the clamshell, put it back into the PowerBook, and put the PowerBook back together. The only problem I encountered was that the PowerBook wasn't recognizing it's RAM chip after the disassembly. I took it apart down to the RAM again, took the chip out and carefully put it back in making sure it was tight, and tightened some little white pin connector beside the RAM chip that looked loose. Then it recognized the RAM and is working perfectly (obviously something was knocked out of place when it was taken apart).
I think the PowerBook was much more difficult than the iBooks are to take apart (though you don't need the special tools you do for iBooks). I did end up with one screw left over, lol (obviously it wasn't an important screw).
You could use an external hard drive enclosure for the PB's hard drive if you didn't have a compatible computer to take apart, I guess. I've had too many issues with OSX not wanting to install on external hard drives to bother trying, though (OS 9 might be more co-operative).

  • Windows 7 64 and Boot Camp

I installed 64-bits Windows 7 on my iMac 24 (end 2007) and it works perfectly. The only problem is the the Boot Camp drivers cannot be installed. (Snow Leopard disk).
Somewhere I have read that the Boot Camp drivers are not compatible with the 64-bit version on this iMac.
    What shall I do now?
    I also have a 32-bit version.

I don't see any help in those links.
What works for most, other than some of the issues with quality of Apple's drivers and graphic driver issue... the whole idea that somehow a Mac from 2007 isn't officially endorsed as supported, and Boot Camp 3.0 drivers are over a year old; came out before Windows 7 was out (but end of public RC phase).
which hinges on the Mac's firmware being EFI32 instead of UEFI 2.x (EFI64).
Copy the whole contents to a folder on your Windows volume.
    Navigate to Apple\Drivers\Bootcamp64
control + click on that file and choose "Troubleshoot Compatibility Mode"
    (or you can change Properties)
And you will then be able to overcome the "incompatible" error message and have them install
I have a 2006 Mac Pro also on the "endangered species list" as well.
Windows 64-bit versions from SP1 or later officially support UEFI, but that has not meant PCs couldn't install and use Windows 64-bit either.

    Hi,
I think you can start your computer and long press F8 or other keys  (depends on the PC model) to enter the BIOS, set the boot option, make the PC boot from CD\ROM Drive, then customize the installation, resize the partition, you can refer
