BT email times out far too fast

(Please answer by email, not by phone.)
When I am logged in to BT Email, the email page shuts down in a minute or two and I must re-open it. Why is this? Earlier today the BT Email kept on dropping while I was typing a message. Please allow the BT Email page to display on my computer for a least ten minutes before it sloses down.

gg's right. I wouldn't want to suggest that the webmail service should be anything less than perfect, but the fact is that many of the sundry problems reported here simply do not arise if you use an email client. Relying on webmail is also intrinsically less secure because it entrusts storage of personal records to a third party as well as providing a useful contacts list to anyone who manages to hack into your account.

  • DVD drive spinning far too fast on Equium

I have a problem with my DVD disc drive spinning far too fast to me. I have Windows XP on my Toshiba Equium laptop.
I haven't found any way to set CD / DVD spin speed.
I don't know if there is any, but I have used such feature in an other computer, and I would really much like to slow down the speed.
The problem with speed is not malfunction.
I don't face the problem with DVD:s, but the drive is too effective with CD:s, its literally too powerful.
The speed and noise are insane. If I touch the computer or the table where computer is, the shaking hurts my hands.
It's like a motor saw, and also sounds a bit loud.
I can't hear the game I play while CD is spinning.
I wonder the sturdy construction of my computer, while it's still not broken.

    Hello
I don't know which notebook model do you have but Toshiba has designed small tool for such purposes. It is acoustic silencer. When you watch DVD movei or when you listen music CD you can switch into silent mode and you will not hear that DVD drive works.
Visit Toshiba support page and check if this tool is available for your notebook model too.
    Bye

  • Time is running too fast

    Hi there
I've got an iphone 2g, FW 3.1.3 and a very strange issue:
The clock is running too fast. After one day the time on my phone is 1 hour ahead ( 1hour/each day). When i connect and sync, the time on my phone jumps back to the normal time, the time on my macbook.
I did a total reset (came from version 3.0), but with no luck.
Ive got no option "Set time automatically" in my Firmware version.
I hope somebody has any idea what's going wrong.
    Thank you for reading anyway.
    regards

Reset the page zoom on pages that cause problems, make sure that the window is not maximized:
    *<b>View > Zoom > Reset</b> (Ctrl+0 (zero); Cmd+0 on Mac)

If you have increased the minimum font size then try the default setting "none" as a high value can cause such issues.

Make sure that you allow websites to choose their fonts.

  • Email times out?

I just wrote a long email and when i pressed "save in daughts" it said it had timed out. It also does this when i press send. This has happened one too many times. Can i retrieve my email or have i lost it forever? My windows account never does this.

What you say doesn’t make sense to me. Are you talking about Mac OS X’s Mail or about .Mac mail on the web? This forum is for discussing issues related to the Mail & Address Book applications included with Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger). If you’re not talking about Mac OS X’s Mail, but .Mac mail on the web instead, the right forum for such questions would be .Mac Email On The Web.

  • BB Torch (unlocked). Cant setup email (times out when selected) via Virgin Mobile

    Hi Everyone
    I have a BB Torch 9800.
It was originally registered on the Rogers network, and everything worked fine.
I recently unlocked the phone, and switched to Virgin (ie new SIM card), including a data plan.
Im not able to setup an email account now.
When I go into Setup->Email Accounts->Internet Mail Account, it says "Check for updates'.
After a couple minutes it will timeout saying it can't connect.
In searching the fourms, I came across Host Routing Table settings. My HRT has  "* No entries *'. I have "Register Now", which tells me the Registration message was sent, however I havent had a response back.
Im also wondering if this phone is still "registered" with Rogers somehow?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks

From what I can see in the official Download Portal, Virgin Mobile Canada indeed does support the 9800...you can double check here:
    http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html
If a carrier lists an OS package for a specific BB model number, then the carrier supports that model, and everything should be fine.
But, that is step 5...what about the things included in steps 1 through 4? Those, of course, are all steps...requiring the success of a prior step before considering proceeding to the next step. So, for instance, if your voice services aren't yet working from Virgin, then you should not even be thinking yet about getting data to work.
    As to your questions:
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Do I request this through my BB?
Normally, I suggest the following steps, in order (again requiring success before proceeding), even if they seem redundant to what you have already tried (steps 1 and 2 each should result in a message coming to your BB...please wait for that before proceeding to the next step):
    1) Register HRT
KB00510 How to register a BlackBerry smartphone with the wireless network
Please wait for one "registration" message to arrive to your Messages app
    2) Delete and Resend Service Books
KB05000Delete the service book for the BlackBerry Internet Service email account from the BlackBerry smartphone
If you have no CMIME entry, then skip the deletion
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
Please wait for "Activation" Messages, one per already configured email account, to arrive in your Messages. If you have no already configured email accounts, please wait 1 hour.
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Unfortunately, we already know that your BB fails on step 1 here (register HRT)...which then precludes moving on to step 2. Which leads me back to the prior steps...did steps 1 through 4 all result positively?
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Would the providor do this for me automaticall?
Sometimes yes, sometimes no...when in doubt, the steps above are the way to force it.
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Would I request the providor to do this?
If it does not work with what is above, then the next logical step would be to contact the carrier for formal assistance...after all, it's their network with which you are attempting to get your BB to communicate.
    phantasie wrote:
How do I go about registering the BB onto their network - namel generating the proper Service Book delivery.
Do I login into BB to do this (ie I found this link https://bis.na.blackberry.com/html which I tried logging into, but it says my device isnt registered on the network. It told me to setup my Host Routing Tabels to fix that, which I tried, but hasnt worked yet).
There is more than one way to accomplish many of these things. But, until your BB properly registers to the carrier network (HRT), attempting to go any further is pointless.
With all of that, we're back to steps 1 through 4 of what I previously sent...if those are not completed properly, then nothing else will be useful.
    Good luck!

  • Windows Live Mail 2012 - Outgoing Email Times Out due to Lost Server Connection

Using Windows Live Mail 2012 on WIN7 64-bit.
Been receiving emails seemingly without issues, but...
Haven't been able to POST any outgoing emails now since September 16th for any of my main/sub accounts.
Indicator is a Norton Internet Security popup stating:
"Email Error. Your email message was unable to be sent because the connection to your email server was interrupted. Please open your email client and resend the message from the Sent Messages folder." Then it lists the from/to/subj.
I recompose and try to resend; same results.
I've rolled WIN7 back to September 6th, but results are the same.
I thought perhaps NIS was blocking the SMTP port, but same results when I turn off NIS and Antivirus. I don't see anything of significance in NIS's logs.
Of course, Verizon's mini-app that sniffs out and corrects email problems does not know or care about Live Mail. Just Outlook and OE.
    Ideas? Things to try? Thanks.

I noticed my email account server settings don't match what is defined on the FiOS email setup page on verizon.com.
The server setting I have for my POP3 is "incoming.verizon.net" (not pop.verizon.net) and my SMTP server setting is "outgoing.verizon.net" (not smtp.verizon.net).
    Why don't these match?
Also, my port settings don't seem to match what's posted online.
My outbound port is 25 (not 465) and my inbound port is 110 (not 995).
Doesn't seem right to me, and I'm wondering what changed in the past week?
The changes to pop/smtp from incoming/outgoing have been in the works for a while. Maybe Verizon finally go around to disabling the old servers?
Either way, you should update to the latest settings.
For the sake of example, we are going to pretend that we are setting up fictional account "[email protected]" and the password for logging into that account in webmail is "fakepassword" - Again, this is a fictitious account for the sake of an example.
The settings for using Verizon's servers would be:
    Incoming Server: pop.verizon.net
    Server Requires Authentication: Yes
    Username: fakeacct
    Password: fakepassword
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 995
    Outgoing Server: smtp.verizon.net
Server Requires Authentication: Yes (You can set it to use the same settings as incoming, or manually enter the username and password.)
Requires a Secure Connection (SSL): Yes
    Port: 465
If you are given the option anywhere for Secure Password Authentication (SPA), set it to No or Normal

  • Email time out

    Hi,
We have DSL and a mix of a PC, and a Mac running Leopard, using the router via wireless connection. Internet works fine on both. Outlook works fine on the PC. The Mac mail program worked fine up until a week ago.
The Mac email program will no longer send or receive email. Attempting to take my email accounts on-line gives a rotating pinwheel in the email program and an exclamation mark to the side. Clicking the exclamation mark gives back the message "There may be a problem with the mail server or network. Verify the settings for acount "Gmail" or try again. The server returned the error: The connection to the server imap.gmail.com" on port 993 timed out." My niece brought her Mac laptop over, and connected to the internet fine, but has the same problem with the email program.
This problem did coincide with moving the modem to another location in the house. Unfortunately, Verizon technical assistance was of no help, and transferred me to Apple. However, this seems to be connection related, and not computer related.
    Thanks for any help.
    DWN

    Hello Dwn_Jkm,
I just read your post and I do apologize for any frustration. However, the error that you received "The connection to the server imap.gmail.com" on port 993 timed out." is advising that there was an error when trying to access Google's email server. There could be many reasons that this is not working properly on the program MacMail.

  • Brand new HP Printer cartridge ran out way too fast

I just bought a new HP 60 cartridge for my printer the all in one Deskjet 4480. I was printing out piano music that I have purchased online, and the ink ran out at 100 pages. I had it on fast draft, so if wouldn't use that much ink. The cartridge is completely empty now. When I look up the page yields it says for the black cartridge (which I was using) should yield 200 pages. How do I get a replacement cartridge or my money back? This is ridiculous.

    Hi,
It says 200 pages and the best we can get is around 85% or 170 pages with 5% coverage. Please check your output, are they 5% covered or a bit more ? Please note: many music symbols will NEED more ink to print. Probably on average each page is covered 8.5% and 100 is the right number.
    Regards.

  • TS4002 Scrolling in iCloud e-mail is just too fast. How can I slow it down?

That small e-mail scrolling bar just moves too far too fast. I want to be able to view my e-mails a few at a time then move on to the next few. As it stands now, it skips way ahead with the slightest touch. There are no arrow heads top and bottom to control the movement. How can I control the scrolling??

    Aha! Sussed it!
Click 'Follow Tempo' in the inspector on each track. This activates the Transposition function in the inspector. I've reduced the tempo by 20bpm and set Transposition to -2 on each track.
Hey presto, no longer do me and my mates sound like we had been drinking way too much caffeine two decades ago!

  • Session time out in Websphere Application Server

    Hi ,
I am using Websphere Application server 5.1 . I need to set the session time out for my web application. Actually, i edited the web.xml and set the value
    <session-config>
              <session-timeout>10</session-timeout>
</session-config>But when I am refreshing my jsp page, after 10-15 mts, i am able to get a valid page without any problem. Actually since the session time out is 10 mts , I should not get a valid page after 10 mts . I tried one more option for setting the session time out . I opened the admin console of my App server and set the session time out there too. But session not seems to be timing out after 10-15 mts. I am still able to get a valid jsp page. I have many session attributes in that page. So after 10 mts, i should not get a valid page.. I dont know, what's wrong in my configuration. If some body knows the answer please help me.
    thanks in advance.

So what you're trying to achieve is that the ui closes or becomes invalid if no action has been performed for a certain time? That should be easy enough, install a javax.swing.Timer somewhere in your application and set it to the time you desire. Whenever the user performs an action, invoke reset() on the timer (it's a fairly cheap operation). If the timer fires, you know the timeout occured.
You have to decide for yourself what you consider a 'user action' in this context. If you want the session to stay alive as long as the user is still doing something, just install an AWTEventListener, which can react to pretty much anything, mouse movement, keyboard input etc.

I receive emails just fine in my MobileMe account but when I try to send them they get stuck in outbox ****. It is an IMAP account and I have tried the connection doctor - which shows the server times out - as does the message box that pops up. I have a Genius Bar appointment for tomorrow but this is driving me crazy. Any insight would be much appreciated!

I had this occur several times before, some time ago & wish I wrote down the fix. I too am experiencing the same issue for the last 2 days; so my guess is it must not be my computer since nothing has been changed except I did a "sync" & that is the only thing different in the last few days.
