BT Premium mail & Broadband - at my wits end

Converted my free @btinternet addresses to BT Premium mail last Sep.
Opted for BT Broadband in April.
Have been trying ever since to get my Premium mail moved to the BT Broadband so I don't have to pay.
Have been in touch many times with the BT Premium mail team.
Have written (yes paper, envelope stamps and stuff) to Customer service and had two calls from them saying it will all be fixed.
Got an "Overdue" reminder today that my BT Premium mail isn't being paid (the BT Premium mail team cancelled my DD in April but failed to transfer the email account over).
I ring BT Accounts today and there is NO note at all on my BT Premium mail account about any of the above.
1) How do I get this fixed?
2) How do I make a more formal complaint that will actually be dealt with?
3) Why did I stick with BT?  (Rhetorical but I don't currently have an answer).
I'm terrified now that my email account will just be cut off without a 'by your leave' and I thought I was doing a clever thing taking out BT Broadband

Sounds to me that this will further confuse things as I doubt that they will have full access to my letter of complaint (8th May) - or will the
don't know what happened to the rest of my reply - never mind it probably was best "censored" but thanks for your response.

  • Premium Mail after discontinuing Broadband

I hope somebody can help me.
I stopped BT Broadband at the end of last year and asked about keeping my btinternet.com email address.  I was told I had to wait until on my bt.com page the my extras listed premium mail.  I waited, but nothing appeared.  I called again and was told the same.  I waited.  Still my extras didn't show the option.  Then I saw a message saying my emails would be deleted imminently. I emailed BT and received a message saying they hoped to respond within 48 hours but it could be 96.  That deadling has passed.  Today I called BT, I was told exactly the same, log in to BT.com and select my extras - the option isn't there.  The lady I spoke to today said it has now been over 30 days and I will lose my emails.
Having been a customer for a very long time and moving away due to BT no longer being competitive I am extremely angry and reallyy need help.
Pleease can somebody tell me what to do now?
    Thank you,

i Tunes will not let me play purchased songs from a computer that is broken, and which has a previous e-mail address. I am at my wits end, as whenever I try to play the songs I receive a message to authorise the computer I am using with my dead e-mail address. I end up in a mess, changing I-Ds, etc. I have paid an IT company to sort  things out, with some success, but still I keep getting thiese messages. Surely iTunes should be less complex than this. • At my wits end re Saga of erratic Broadband connec...

I guess there are many people with connection speed problems but are they general or related to local exchanges or what.
I have been a customer of BT Broadband based in Tavistock Devon, for 2 years or more and during this time my connection speed has been consistently reliable and fast.  It started of at around 7.5Mb and increased last year to 14 Mb as they switched me to a faster link at the exchange and I have consistently achieved those speeds until 14th April 2012 when after losing web access totally and being put through the test hoops by the BT support people in India, it was agreed that my Home Hub 2 had failed.  I could only finally prove this by connecting up an old Netgear hub I had and proving that everything was then OK, despite the fact that I kept telling them that everything had worked satisfactorily for two years and had only just gone wrong.  They seem fixated on - either the amber light comes on the router - in which case it's the line, or no amber light shows on the router in which case it's a wireless fault and it's down to you the user to fix it.
They agreed to send me a new hub and after 3 days (despite them promising it would be a next day delivery) I recieved a new Home Hub 3 which I duly connected up and everything seemed OK.  However, my wife uses a DS connected over the internet to play online with friends around the world.  The problem is this game will only work on a hub with WEP security set ( It doesn't like WPA or WPA2) so I have had the previous router set to WEP and everything has worked OK.  When I try this on the Home Hub3, the game will not work and having spoken to Nintendo, they cannot explain why that would be.  BT also cannot explain why it would be different with HH3 and decided to send out an engineer to me but to also ship me a brand new Home Hub 2.  The engineer duly came out and checked my internal connections, checked the line between my house and the exchange and pronounced everything in order.  I had to agree on that day running my normal BB Max speedtest, I was getting nearer 10Mb and assumed that as I had switched routers there would maybe be a learning curve again and the speed would get back up to full speed after a few days.
As everything seemed to be working apart from the DS, I assumed that I would be able to replace the HH3 with the HH2 when it arrived and everything would then be back to normal.  Well, it wasn't and after a few days the speed dropped back to almost zero.  Over the next couple of days the speed jumped around from between 436Kb to 4Mb but nowhere near the 14 Mb I had been getting.
So back on the phone to India, and having gone through all the basic tests yet again, they agreed to send an engineer out who "understood" about wireless as they thought this would be more helpful.  The engineer was booked for 26th April and over the ensuing days, the connection speed bounced about from less than 1 Meg and up to 14Meg.  I had checked my home wireless network, paying paricular attention to the wireless signal strength using InSSIDER which shows the amplitude of the wireless signal from any router in the vicinity.  One thing I noticed was that th HH3 signal was almost as weak as my neighbours HH2 and also seemed to be quite erratic.  I tried changing channels which did improve it a bit. On the 25th April in the afternoon, I lost my telephone connection for about 15 minutes and then amazingly, the internet connection speed jumped up to 14 - 15Mb almost immediately.  I was looking forward to the Open Reach engineer visiting hoping he would be able to determine what was wrong.  He arrived at 8:15 on the morning and I first asked him whether anything had been changed at the exchange end yesterday as things had now seemed to be back to how they had been originally.  He said, I don't know, I'm not based at the exchange but from what you describe it could be a "cut and move" or some similar term, I can't remember exactly, but he implied that they may have moved my connection to a different port in the exchange.
We then went upstairs where I have all my system and where the line comes up from the master socket downstairs by the street entrance.  He then asked me how many devices I had connected to the HH3 router.  At that moment I only had my own desktop and my wife's laptop.  He asked how many devices I usually have connected to the router and I went through a list - 1 Desktop PC , 2 Laptops, A PS3, a Nintendo Wii, a nintendo DSiXL, A Humax PVR, an Epson printer and finally my daughters Android phone when she was visiting.  I made it clear that not all theses devices would be accessing the internet at once, and at most I might have three or four devices connected at the same time.  Well that's what your problem is, he said, you can't connect more than 3 or 4 devices to this router!  Who says I asked,  I just did he replied.  Yes I know that but where are you getting that information from?  Well you can't just connect loads of devices to the router, it's like telephone extensions, you can't just connect any number of phones, there's a limit to how many the router will take.  I was astounded by this comment and said so.  He seemed to know nothing about wireless networks and when I said that I had used similar set-ups in an office environment, he said well you only have a domestic router and that has a limit to the number of devices.  I said, but BT offer the same router to their Business customers.  He was really aggresive and patronising and I was becoming very frustrated by his attitude so I said maybe he had better do his tests and then leave.  At this he just said, I don't have to put up with this, and stomped out of my home without doung anything.
On 3rd May the Home Hub 2 arrived which I then connected up and everything seemd to work OK.  The connection speed seemed to be more or less stable at around 14Mb, so I concluded that something had been done at the exchange which had corrected the fault.  This was later confirmed when I spoke to the Indian support people again who recorded that there had been a line fault (low voltage on the line) which would have explained why my connection was erratic.  This had been corrected on 26th April.  I had contacted India again to complain about the way I had been dealt with and why it had taken so long to correct the problem.  They said they would arrange for a rebate on my Broadband rental as I had lost my service and I asked them also to look at compensating me for the trouble I had been put to trying to find the cause which they continually treated as a "wireless connection fault".
They said they couldn't deal with that so they transferred me to the "Customer Service" department who then proceeded to ask me to phone back in few days, when the fault might be cleared.  I was at a complete loss as to what they were talking about, so just gave up.  Later I made a complaint about the Open Reach engineer and the loss of my time, on the BT website complaints form and yesterday I got an answer back saying that it sounded like a wireless fault and I should refer to their self help guide on the web.  This despite me telling them that the fault had been an exchange fault and nothing to do with wireless and had been working satisfactorily for the last two years.  Does'nt anybody at BT support listen to or read complaints properly? I have replied to that email accordingly, but I am now at my wits end because today the connection speed has been bouncing about from less than 1Mb up to a maximum of 4Mb again and I just don't know what to do.
Is there anybody at BT who is prepared to take ownership of this problem and actually resolve it?  I heard on the news that BT's sales were down 4%.  Mr BT Chairman, have you thought that it might be something to do with the level of service you are providing to your customers?  I for one will be considering very carefully whether I renew my contract with you.  Any commecnts or suggestions would be very gratelfully received.  Paul Burton

  • Transfer Broadband Email Account to Premium Mail

I am in the process of separating from my partner and we wish to separate our email accounts.
We wish to retain the broadband service but move the primary email account and one of the secondary accounts to Premium Mail.
Does anyone know how to make this happen? The call centre person that I spoke to said that it could’t be done without cancelling the broadband service but other posts seem to indicate that it is possible.
    Can anyone help?
    Thanks

    Hi JonMars,
Thanks for posting. If the primary ermail account is staying attached to the broadband then there wouldn't be any need to change that and we can change the sub account to premium mail. If the sub account is staying connected to the broadband it will need to be upgraded as the primary account and then the old primary account can be changed to premium mail. I hope that makes sense. Drop me an email with the account details and both email addresses plus a link to this post for reference. You'll find the address in my profile.

  • Keeping my BT Yahoo Premium Mail Account, I am hav...

I cancelled my BT Broadband Option 3 subscription around Nov 20th 2011 and I discovered on the internet that my BT Yahoo Premium mail would be terminated 90 days after my BT Broadband was cancelled, I've had my bt email account for around 10 years so I don't want to lose it.
I've been running around in circles trying to get the £1.54 monthly charge setup so that I can keep my exisiting BT Yahoo email account all have lead to a dead end .. could you please help me .....
Here are some problems listed below that I've encountered:-
    1) I navigate to the following BT website link where it advertises to 'keep my email' account for bt yahoo premium for £1.54 / month, I enter my email account and it states "there is a problem with the status of your account" and doesn't allow me to progress further with the upgrade. Here is the link...
    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=26508&s_cid=con_FURL_...
I still have a bt.com/btyaoo account and a BT landline and I can setill see broadband being billed for Nov 2011 so I don't understand why it will not allow me to upgrade here on the link above.
    2) I was advised by BT operatives to go to the following alternative BT web page to upgrade to BT Yahoo premium mail and most of you will be more familiar with this one... however it only allows the user to generate a NEW BT Yahoo email address NOT KEEP your EXISTING email address despite the link advertising that you can keep it..... after entering my bank account details and I enter my btopenworld email account the web page stops with an error stating that my BT Yahoo email adress is 'already taken': here is the link, also there is a link from my http://home.bt.yahoo.com/  'my account' page to the very same link stated below... the link is named 'Upgrade To Premium Mail' which is very deceptive as it is not an upgrade of your exisiting email account its an entirely new email address that it allows you to create only and this is no good. Here is the link .. with the premium link right at the bottom...
    https://register.btinternet.com/cgi-bin/registernow?version=ie5&ex=1&product_type=PMR
    3) I was advised by a BT operator to contact the BT Yaho premium mail team on the phone (I have a BT phone landline btw) and I called 0808 100 6778 Option 2 (email) Option (1 Change email) on a Sunday at 11am and all I got was the following message then the line cut off, the team should have been there as the message stated but the help service team was not available which is perplexing .. here is the message is this service dead ?
"Welcome to BT our advisors are available from 9am to 9pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 6:30pm Saturday to Sunday"
     Not true...
I remember calling the yahoo premium email team around the 20th Nov 2011 (about a month ago) and they told me that I would receive an email warning me that my BT Yahoo email account would be cancelled in 90 days with an option to upgrade to premium... this email has not been received (I even checked bt yahoo spam folder) hence why I am getting worried about not being able to renew my BT Yahoo Email Account.
    4) I called up other BT Broadband and technical numbers but they can detect from my BT landline that I no longer have BT Broadband so those numbers are not availale to me for help.
In summary it seems that you do have a service to upgrade to BT Yahoo Premium Email for BT users who have left BT Broadband but it is EXTREMELY difficualy to obtain to customers who are willing to pay for this service. Can anyone out there please help me. If I lose the email account it is a very serious matter to me as I have had it around 10+ years.

I'm moving from BT Broadband. I'm wanting to keep the email address and have found that going here...
    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/12682/~/what's-the-difference-between-bt-yahoo!-premi...
and then clicking on www.bt.com/premiummail gets you:
Sorry, this page is currently unavailable
The tip (as stated above) about phoning the number above worked well.
I was told by the support person there is a 90 day grace period after the end of the BT Broadband and an email will come through on about day 86. The guy on the phone said ring the same number again then to upgrade to subscribe to the service.
If there is a department in BT that looks at things that don't work on their website it might be worth fixing this.

  • Re: BT Yahoo Premium Mail

    Hi,
How do you apply for BT Yahoo Premium Mail and associate the application with an existing @btinternet.com e-mail account?
I only got the option to create a new account and an error when I tried to re-use my existing e-mail account.
    Thanks

Following moving from BT Broadband to another supplier I wanted to keep my btinternet email addresss.
Having just wasted a lot of time trying to get this sorted out, this how I got it sorted out.
    THE FOLLOWING DOES NOT WORK:
    1) The BT website options do not work. The web page is not set up for chrome. When using internet explorer it just came up with "problem with account" when I tried to log in.
    2) Ringing 0800-633-5335 - option 3 - the operator (David) did not really know what he was doing and I got nowhere. In the usual BT way was very polite and the same time completely unhelpful.
    THE FOLLOWING WORKED:
In the end I rang 0800-633-5335 option 2. I got through to someone called "Sid".
He eventually took my mobile number and rang through to another department to "downgrade" my email. This is a requirement of BT before upgrading to BT Premium email.
Sid rang me back and said it was all sorted and that the charge was £ 1.54 per month. Therefore my emails and the email address would be preserved.
He said there was a fault with the system in which a password change would be asked for. He said to ignore this - for this situation password change is not required.
Sid then said that billing would be separate and could not be included on a BT bill. Therefore bank details were required.
This didn't sound too good, however I didn't have much choice.
When logging into my email I then got this message:

With this service change, you will be receiving the following level of service:

  • Signing up for BT Premium Mail

Okay, I know there has been chat about this, but does anyone know how to actually do it?
I left BT BB about 18 months ago. Tried repeatedly to sign up for BT Premium Mail. Always failed. No clues as to how to make it work.
Now, my BT Yahoo email account still works... I have been signing in via PAYG (well, I haven't as that doesn't seem to work nowadays ... but let's not go there right now).
The error I get is always :
... after I click on the 'sign up' page
    So, from page:  http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/consumerProducts/displayTopic.do?topicId=27277
Click on the 'Get Premium Mail' == https://register.btinternet.com/cgi-bin/registernow?version=ie5&ex=1&product_type=PMR
And then you get the above screen.  Always.  For over 18 months.  I've tried this in various browsers ... all give same response.
Can anyone suggest how to resolve this issue.   I've raised this before, but no-one from BT seems capable of answering this very basic question.
    Anyone?

  • OK...I am at my wits' end here!

    Hello all,
I just received my iPod shuffle in the mail today (it was ordered on eBay from Circuit City, a major retail electronics chain in the US). It was sold in excellent working condition, according to Circuit City (I have dealt with them before).
Now, When I plug my shuffle into the computer, the amber light blinks steadily. BUT! The Shuffle does NOT appear in iTunes (I am using 6.0.1 or whatever the newest version is, and when I click preferences->iPod, it says "No iPod connected), and it does not show up as a disk in My computer. As a matter of fact, when I open the "Safely remove hardware" dialog, nothing shows up! According to documentation, the amber light blinking means "Do not disconnect", but according to my computer, it's not connected at all! I have tried restoring it, but the iPod updater (1.1.3) won't recognize the shuffle; and from what I have read about the new update, I am mighty reluctant to download and update the shuffle with this new software (after reading the horror stories about it).
PLEASE, I am at my wits' end! I desperately want to be able to love my shuffle, but it is being an impossible &#$%@ right now! Unfortunately, I don't think Apple will repair it under warranty because I bought it used from Circuit City (it was not in the original packaging...sigh)...and it's not the first problem I've had with an iPod product (my 4g 20GB's click wheel died on me, and I can't afford $249 to replace it). Alas, I think this may be the last Apple product I'll ever buy...
I do apologize for the length of this rant, but I really really need help! Thank you all in advance...

  • Switch to Premium Mail

I have had a BT email address ever since I took out a broadband package ten years ago.  I stopped being a BT broadband customer a long time ago but continued to use the BT email address.  I recently had the email to say that the service would be stopped unless I took action.  So, I dutifully signed up to have BT Premium Mail at a cost.  I requested that the Direct Debit form be posted to me.
It's a couple of weeks later now and I haven't heard anything.  I keep getting emails to tell me to activate my account but it requests an accoutn number which I do not have.
I cannot afford to those this email address or the emails in the mailbox but I don't know what to do next.  The BT support site sends me round in circles.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks

I am in the same situation. I had BT broadband for over 10 years then switched to Sky a few years ago. I've been using btyahoo for free since then but it now it seems BT want to charge for email. I set up the DD to BT and am now at the activation stage. If you click the link in your email about activation it takes you to the relevent page where you need to input your account number. Being a non BT customer (apart from Premium Mail) you need to click the link on that page to have your account umber sent to you by post. I did this and the account number arrived but when i enter it the continue button does nothing, even though a tick apperas next to my entered account number to confirm it is a valid one. Any ideas guys?
I should add that you only need to pay the  monthly amount of £1.60 for your main mail email address and you get to keep up to 10 sub account email addresses that you might have set up. This is handy as I thought I would have to pay a further £1.60 for my wife's email address.

I recently moved my broadband and telephone service to another as I cannot get a date for availability of BT Infinity.  I received a letter from BT saying that my email account will be downloaded to the pay-as-you-go dial up service, which I will have to access by dial up at least once in the next 60 days, and thereafter once every 90 days thereafter, or the account will be closed automatically.  I note, however, that the BT Yahoo dial up service terms state that at least 14 days will be given before closure.
In practice I am continuing to access my email account over my new supplier's broadband connection and wish to know what conditions I must meet in order to retain the account.  I understand that I will have to pay £1.54 pm to retain the account by upgrading to BT Yahoo Premium Mail, but by when will I have to do this and will I receive the above 14 days notice of closure of the account if I have not done so?

    Hi David,
Not too sure how I missed this, sorry.
You’ll not get a 14 days notice per se for the email account but sometime before the 90 days are up you will get an email advising how you can sign up to Premium Mail.
After the 90 days the account goes on to a deletion list, and once the account is deleted it’s gone.
    Thanks,
    Stephanie

  • Premium Mail link broken for months - Please help

I have been trying to upgrade to Premium Mail (as per many of the other posts I read on here)
Every time I click on the Premium Mail link it tells me the page is broken. Thsi has been happening for a long while now. I can't find any way of doing it on Yahoo Mail website either. This is driving me nuts. I just want to keep my email address. We have already cancelled our broadband with BT since my boyfriend moved in and we consolidated phone lines.
    Please help.
    Heather

Your only hope is to contact Yahoo, as BT will have no more involvement as you are not one of their customers any more.

  • Return from Premium Mail?

    Hi
We had BT Anytime dial up years ago and then went off to another ISP when ADSL broadband came about. We opted to keep the @btinternet.com email address and have been paying for Premium Mail ever since.
Earlier this year we came back to BT and signed up for Infinity. We now have another @btinternet.com address which we don't use, it just comes with Infinity. Is it possible to make the old email address the one associated with our Infinity broadband? It seems silly to be paying for one address when we get another one free which we aren't using.

    Hi colin79666,
Welcome to the forum! And if you fill out the contact us link located in the about me section of my profile we can take a look at this for you.
    Cheers,

  • How do I get BT Yahoo Premium Mail?

I am about to move from BT to another broadband provider, but I want to keep my btinternet email address. I understand I need to move to (and presumably pay for) BT Yahoo Premium Mail (I am on BT Yahoo Mail not BT Mail) but I can't find out how to do that?

You can call BT on 0800.100.6778 who should be able to move it for you or see this link
