Summary report w/over 90 summary elements

Using CR XI Professional edition ..... What would be the best approach to provide a summary report with over 90 different database element summaries from a SQL Server database? I've created one document with all of the categories to summarize and also have started creating subreports to summarize the related report sections.
Problem is, the data seems to get out of whack. When I change selection criteria (only slightly) it can change a summary count in a whole other section.
Any ideas?

There are 12 'sections' (A thru U ... obviously not including all letters) to the report
each section can have as few as 2 or as many as 25 summaries relating to that section's data/table source in the database. In other words, section 'A' gets data from one table; section 'B' gets data from one or more tables ... and that's where it goes whacky.
each of these sections has been already 'built' in the MS SQL Server database by the stored procedures and resides in temporary tables that, again, i can't access because of the error mentioned previously. And because of this restriction, I am trying to recreate the SQL process in Crystal ... and it's giving me fits!
Here's a crude text of what the report looks like (exported from CR). Each section's entries are labeled like 'B1', 'B2', etc. The values at the end of the line represent the calculated (Running Total) value when the report is presented.

ASO reporting cube over Planning application

Hi All,
We have a requirement where we need to create an ASO reporting cube over a HP application (1 plan type only). (The HP app is deployed via EPMA but with local dimensions.)
(v11.1.2.1)
Note that this needs to be automated for monthly load process so the solution needs to be dynamic in nature.
1. Is there any way to automate BSO to ASO conversion?
2. Is there any way to automate 'Map to reporting' option in HP application?
Can any one suggest the best practice to do this.

You can copy dimensions within the Shared Library, within an application, or between the Shared Library and an application. You cannot copy a dimension directly from one application to another.

You can still make your Planning dimension local and Share them to Shared Library. You can then move the shared library dimension to Essbase application and keep that as Local (but why all local dimensions and use EPMA?)
2. To resync you have a dimension resync command (load them to Shared or individual app, I still don't see a point why you are using EPMA if all dimenions are local)

3. I never used that one, however tried it on Sample Basic and found that it is not converting BSO formulas to MDX formulas. (Not a very helpful one, it just converts your BSO hier to ASO hier)

Connection issues of Historical Reports Client over a non-Cisco VPN/third party VPN

When trying to run the Cisco Unified CCX Historical Reports Client over a non-Cisco VPN, the user receives an error.
The major failure is the connection problem between Historical Reports Client and Cisco Unified CCX Server.
Error :
An error occurred while communicating with web server.
All available connections to database server are in use by other client machines. Please try again later and check the log file for error 5054.
This works fine when connected to through Cisco VPN .
Is the third party VPN/ customer's web based VPN blocking the connection between UCCX server and HRC machine ??

How to load one report page at a time for heavy reports of over 100 pages.

Three banks merged together and now my reports have to pull massive combined data of all 3 banks. Even after tuning the queries, applying indexs, its taking long to load. A normal report now has over 100 pages.
Do you know if I can just load 1 page at a time and show it to user so the user donot have to wait for all 100 or more pages to load before they can see the whole report...? Kind of spooling...or something.

I am not aware of a simple solution to set the file name. You need to set the content-disposition, but I don't think this is possible with any of the report parameters. A workaround is to save to save the report as a pdf file (destype=file&desname=myreport.pdf), and then open it in the browser after the report is finished.
About the timeout: this can be set in the repserver conf file (engineResponseTimeOut) or override it in the url with parameter ENGINERESPONSETIMEOUT. It's all in the documentation, so always start your search there!

SCEP date range reports change over time

Not really sure how to title this, but here is the scenario. I have altered a canned report to run the first Monday of every month and dump a Word file w/links into a folder. The alteration of this report is simply changing the end date to be -30 from today.
So I am getting a 30 day report of all computers that were infected. The report runs and looks to be accurate based on alerting I have setup. The problem comes when I take this report and start to drill down into the data using the links in the report. Let's
say my report shows a virus name with an infection count of 3. I can click on 3 and see a list of PCs that were infected....well not so much. If between the time the PC was infected and the time I look at the report, any of the 3 PCs were cleaned of the infection,
then they will not show up in the drilldown. So if a single PC was cleaned...the count still shows 3, but clicking on 3 only shows 2 computers now. This pretty much goes for any data on the main page.
So essentially the report is pretty useless to go back in time and see detailed info on the incidents since the status of every bit of info in that report has changed over time. I am not a SQL person, but I did have one of SQL team look at the database and
she can't see anywhere that she can pull archived data from. Any idea what direction I can point her in to get the type of reports I am looking for?

Report Generation over the net?

is there ANYTHING out ther for this? (ie crystal reports designer)
i want to add something to create ad hoc reports over the internetweb, but from what i can see there is nothing out there that is a "viable" solution.
am i going to have to develop something by myself? if so what do you think the best approach would be, javascript? perhaps flash?
i must stay away from anything that is IE centric, for obvious reasons

We use jfreechart. It is not as fully featured but it does the job for us and is free.

Crystal Reports 9 over network: slow initialization

We have a VC++ application that uses Crystal Reports RDC (actually 8.5, and trying to change to 9.2). By design our application is installed on a file server and users execute it directly from the server, without copying or install any component in the local drive. We just register the minumum Crystal Reports DLLs needed to point directly to the location of this DLLs in the server. So we don't copy any Crystal Reports Runtime DLLs to c:\
At this time, with Crystal Reports 8.5, the minimum runtime DLLs on the server needed to run our application and print reports have a size of 8Mb, and the first time our application tries to open a report it hangs for about 5 seconds (with FileMon I see that Crystal Reports is loading its runtime DLLs). But now I'm trying to change it to use Crystal Reports 9 (due to unsolved CR8.5 limitations). With this version our minimum required runtime DLLs have a size of almost 12Mb, and the load time of this DLLs become almost 10 seconds (too big).
I did tests with Crystal Reports XI and it was even worse. If I copy and register the DLLs in the local drive it loads very fast, but we need to make it to work directly from the server without copying the files to c:\
Is there any way to reduce the loading time of this runtime DLLs without having to copy them to the local drive? Thanks

Well, I think the problem you had with CR XI is that you can not just copy the dlls. You have to use the merge modules and create a deployment project using a utility such as InstallShield, Wise, MS Visual Installer, etc.
As far as the issue at hand.
Here is a basic list of possible issues that may improve the performance:
Report Design Issues
u2022     Linked OLE object inserted into a report is not where the report expects it to be. If this is the case, the report will attempt to locate the object, potentially consuming large amounts of time.
u2022     The subreport option "Re-import when opening" is enabled (right click the subreport(s), choose format subreport, look at the subreport tab). While this is a great design time feature, it is a time consuming process and should be used judiciously.
u2022     Specific printer is set for the report and the printer does not exist. Try the "No printer" option (File | Page setup).
u2022     Also, see the Article u201CHow Printer Driver Options Affect a Reportu201D regarding printers and Crystal Reports;

u2022     The number of subreports the report contains and in which section the subreports are located will impact report performance. Minimize the number of subreports used, or avoid using subreports if possible. Subreports are reports within a report, and if there is a subreport in a detail section, the subreport will run as many times as there are records, leading to long report processing times. Incorrect use of subreports is often the biggest factor why a report takes a long time to process.
u2022     Use of "Page N of M", or "TotalPageCount" special fields. When the special field "Page N of M" or "TotalPageCount" is used on a report, it will have to generate each page of the report before it displays the first page. This will cause the report to take more time to display the first page of the report
u2022     Graphics, while a powerful feature of Crystal Reports, need to be used with care. When displaying a report using the Web Forms report viewer, for each chart or image on the report page, the report engine must create a temporary JPG file and the browser must make a separate request to the web server to retrieve it. The Web Forms viewer also periodically searches through the images folder for old images and deletes them. This disk access and creation of temporary files will reduce report performance.
u2022     Remove any unused object from the report. This includes database tables, formulas and parameters and running total formulas. Even if these objects are not used in a report, the report engine will attempt to evaluate the objects, thus affecting performance.
u2022     Suppress unnecessary report sections. Even if a report section is not used, the report engine will attempt to evaluate the section, thus affecting performance.
u2022     If summaries are used in the report, use conditional formulas instead of running totals when ever possible.
u2022     Whenever possible, limit records through Record selection Formula, not suppression.
u2022     Use SQL expressions to convert fields to be used in record selection instead of using formula functions. Since SQL Expression Fields are added to the SELECT clause of the SQL Query the SQL expressions are evaluated server side.
For example, if you need to concatenate 2 fields together, instead of using a formula, create a SQL Expression Field.
u2022     Using one command table or Stored Procedure or a Table View as the datasource can be faster if you returns only the desired data set.
u2022     Perform grouping on the database server. This applies if you only need to return the summary to your report but not the details. It will be faster as less data will be returned to the reports.
Report Options
u2022     u201CVerify on First Refreshu201D option (File | Report Options). This option forces the report to verify that no structural changes were made to the database. There may be instance when this is necessary, but once again, the option should be used only if really needed. Often, disabling this option will improve report performance significantly.
u2022     u201CVerify Stored Procedure on First Refreshu201D option (File | Report Options). Essentially the same function as above, however this option will only verify stored procedures.
If the above does not help, perhaps that is the best performance you will get over the network and going to a web based solution may be worth considering(?). Let's see if anyone else can provide any help.

When exporting a FR report to excel in Query Ready Mode, the report breaks over several sheets in Excel. We use SmartView and FR-Studio version 11.1.2.924 Reportserver 11.1.2.3.505.0924

This happens after we upgraded from 11.1.1.2.
The reports have not been changed after the upgrade.

Had the exact v11113 issue with 2003, so it forced people to move to ver2007 xls.
Attempted to change settings in IE, but did not get far, users got FR further in 2007.
Bug was noted in previous forum.

EtreCheck Report way over my head - major slow down after upgrade to Yosemite

This is my first post here, but I upgraded to Yosemite the other day and my Macbook has been painfully slow ever since.   I read about Etrecheck today and downloaded and am posting it's report below. WD - Time Machine doesn't need the WD software, and in fact that software will interfere with the proper running of Time Machine. I would recommend that you repartition the drive which will prevent the WD software from running by removing it entirely. Then redo your Time Machine backup.
I am not sure what the Pace stuff is for. It may be a part of Avid software. If you don't know what it's for, then most likely you don't need it.
Uninstalling software can prove quite a chore. Here's a little something to help you out:
Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash. Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder. Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space. If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application. In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder. You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder. You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder. Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item. Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder. Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences. Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab. Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS. Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term. Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default. You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, EasyFind, instead.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder. Usually with the same name as the program or the developer. The item generally has a ".pkg" extension. Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.

New Report Req over Planning ( real time) cube

Hi gurus,
I have Planning Cube which is being populated by Template,
Where we set the Account Status from unlock to lock, and once saved all the
Lock accounts only get saved in the cube using some exit in background which populate one table also..
So now we have a Report which runs on this cube and gives details for all the Lock accounts , but now we have requirement to get all the UNLOCK ACCOUNTS
Also .
So kindly guide me way forward

You could write an exit function that deletes the planning data. There is a reason that they removed the deletion of requests during planning mode. If anything is in the planning buffer while you delete a request that contains the same key your data could become corrupted.
I recommend to my customers to compress the requests very often to prevent the deletion of requests.

Reporting Point over remote multiple instance SQL Server

Hi,
The scenario is the following:
1 CAS SCCM 2012 R2
1 Primary SCCM 2012 R2
1 SQL Server 2012 SP2. 2 Instances. Each instance has Database Engine Services and Reporting Services - Native.
The CAS and Primary installation was OK.
The reporting point for CAS (default SQL instance) installation was OK.
The reporting point for Primary (named SQL instance) installation is not possible. The reports node at SCCM console is empty. Both of the SRS instances was automatically configured, at installation (Install and Configure).
The question is:
Is it possible to use the same SRS to host 2 reporting points? (1 for CAS, 1 for Primary. Each at different instance)

At another customer I get the same scenario. They want to use the same server for hosting DBs and reports for CAS site and 2 Primary sites.
The message is:
Site Component Manager detected that site system "\\ECBPPRQSM.MYDOMAIN.NET" is currently in use by ConfigMgr site CAS.
Possible cause: You accidentally configured this site system as part of this site and as part of site CAS.
Solution: Remove this site system from the list of site systems for this site or for site CAS.
The question remains basically the same:
Is it possible to use the same SRS to host 3 reporting points? (1 for CAS, 2 for Primary. Each at different instance)

I bought a song in iTunes on my iPod Touch. It's a Second Generation, if that helps any. When I downloaded it and listened to it; however, I noticed that it wasn't the right song! iTunes had mislabeled it. I reported it to Apple more than a month ago and got the automated reply, but I haven't received any word since then. Meanwhile, I'm stuck with a song I don't want. I tried reporting it again, but I can't for whatever reason. Can anyone help me, please? Oh, the song was Sailing by Pieces of a Dream.

Spreading report lines over several regions

I'm about to despair!
I'm using the wizard to create a master detail form having an updatable detail report. Since the detail table has quite a lot of columns, users are forced to scroll from left to right to view the last columns.
To avoid this, I tried to split the detail report region: One region for the first n columns and another one for the remaining m columns. I tried to copy the region within the same page. This didn't work. Then I copied the region to an intermediate page and from there copied it back to the original page. In the resulting page I modified the first region to just display columns 1 ... n and in the new copied region to display the remaining columns.
The visual effect was exactly what I wanted to see, BUT:
As soon as I try to do any DML I get Error in mru internal routine: ORA-20001: Error in MRU: row= 1, ORA-20001: ORA-20001: Current version of data in database has changed since user initiated update process. current checksum
Maybe this behavior is exactly why APEX did not allow to copy a region within the same page, however there certainly exists a method to achieve the visual effect explained above.
Can someone give me a hint?
