Bypass Proxy not ignoring proxy

Hi,
I am connected to the internet through a http proxy but regularly have to connect to local IP's that do not go through the proxy.
I put the IP's of the machines I want connect to in the "Bypass proxy settings for these Hosts&Domains" section in the Proxies tab in Advanced Network Preferences however my browser still insists on trying to use the proxy.
Disabling the proxy allows me to connect to these machines but obviously this prevents me from browsing the web at the same time.
Could somebody advise me on this? Am I missing something or doing something wrong?
Thanks
Kev

I would expect the Proxy settings to affect things like your browser. Are you attempting to connect to other web servers local network?
At work, I connect to local Macs using Bonjour and company systems using the company DNS names, so I put
local
companydomain.com
192.168.1/8
The 'local' is for MacComputerName.local addressing for other Macs on my local subnet, where MacComputerName is set in System Preferences -> Sharing -> Computer Name:
The 192.168.1/8 specifies a subnet to be ignored. This might be what you want to try, substituting your subnet. The /8 is because my netmask is 255.255.255.0. If you have a different netmask, you need to adjust the /n accordingly.

  • Bypass proxy settings ignored

    Hi folks,
    At work we connect to the web via web proxy (Squid by all accounts). If I set the proxy manually in my browser, everything works fine but I'd rather have that set at Network prefs level.
    However, when I add *.local, 169.254/16 at Network prefs level and set Firefox (or any other browser for that matter) to use System Proxy when I call something like domain.local (setup using MAMP Pro) I get a 404 which suggests that it's not ignoring my set prefs.
    Any ideas why this is happening?

    I forgot to mention that, when I use Automatic Proxy Configuration, the above issue exists. But if I use "Web Proxy (HTTP)", the Bypass blank works.

  • Why does Web Start App ignore Proxy bypass/exception list in Proxy settings

    Hi All,
    I've been pulling my hair out on this one for a while now and finally decided to see if someone can help me out.
    In my office I have a intranet of numerous devices and pcs connected. There is also a proxy server on the network to allow connection through the the internet. I have my proxy settings setup to bypass the proxy for any addresses on my intranet. This is set in the normal way by adding ( http://192.168.1. to proxy settings exception list in IE. This proxy bypass list works fine for all other situation except the following:
    On my Intranet I have an embedded web server device I have been developing that has a java application deployed using web start. This application is a monitoring tool that allows the user to check the various settings and status of the embedded device. The problem is that when the app is launched for some reason web start tries to get the require jar file from the proxy instead of directly from the device, even when the IP address of the device it is trying to get it from is in the bypass list?? I don't think Web start is checking the exception/bypass list in the proxy settings to see if it should be using the proxy or not?? I can see this by using wireshark and inspecting the GET HTTP requests sent from my pc to the proxy server instead of directly to the ip address of the embedded device.
    If I change my proxy settings to use a direct connection/no proxy (untick the "use proxy server for your lan" box in IE settings) then everything works fine. However this is not a workable option for my customers as they don't want to have to continually change these settings when connecting to this device and then to the internet (which is the whole reason of having the exception / bypass list).
    I've tried many things including using the proxy settings in the Java console instead of getting them from the browser but the same thing occurs.
    Any help would much appreciated, as I not sure if it is something I am doing wrong, or a possible bug, or just the way it is meant to work??
    I'm using the following...
    Java version: 1.6 1.6.0_17
    Operating system: ( I've tried XP and Vista)

    I have the same problem, please anyone can help?

  • Windows 8 and IE10 not accepting Proxy Settings via Group Policy

    We have recently introduced a couple of Windows 8 computers in our network, and we are having issues applying the Internet Explorer Proxy Server settings.
    We use a Microsoft TMG 2010 server as our proxy server for accessing the internet.
     We have been using a GPO with the following settings to automatically configure our Windows 7 computers running IE9 with the appropriate Proxy settings:
    User Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Internet Explorer Maintenance\Connection/Proxy Settings
    “Enable Proxy Settings” : Checked
    “Address of proxy” : server.domain.local
    “Port” : 8080
    “Use the same proxy server for all addresses” : Checked
    “Exceptions” : Here we have a list of several internal or partner sites that should not be proxied.
    This GPO has worked beautifully for our Windows XP and Windows 7 users with IE 7, 8 and 9.
     Now with Windows 8 and IE10, this no longer works.
    I’ve therefore added a Windows Server 2012 Domain Controller to the network, and using GPMC on that new DC, I created a new GPO with the following settings:
    User Configuration\Preferences\Control Panel Settings\Internet Settings\Internet Explorer 10
    Now, seeing as these are preferences, it’s a little different.  But, I’ve “checked off” the option “Use a proxy server for your LAN” as well as “Bypass proxy server for local addresses”.
    Then I click on “Advanced” and setup all my proxy settings the way I would like them, including the proxy server name, port and exceptions list.
    When this new group policy gets applied to my Windows 8 PC, the only setting that gets applied is the “Use a proxy server for your LAN”.
    It does not configure the name or port of the proxy server nor does it configure the exceptions list.
    If I go back to the GPMC, and edit the new GPO, the settings are all there.
    However, if I just view the settings from the main GPMC screen (without opening the GPO itself),
    I don’t see all of those settings (again, only the one “Use a proxy server…”)
    What am I missing???

    Hi All, - (Revised Answer by myself)<o:p></o:p>
    I banged my head against the keyboard on this one for some time trying to get this group policy to apply.  I
    did every thing that was suggested, learning about the F6 and F7 keys to Green underline and Red underline the options required and not required.  I even gave in and used the registry settings and it still did not work.  It turned out that I had
    2 issues.  The first one is obvious and the second not so obvious, this is how it is setup:
    I have a 2012 R2 Standard DC with Windows 8.1 clients/workstations and IE 11.  As you are aware you must make
    sure that the following are underlined in green:
    Automatically detect settings - (but not ticked)<o:p></o:p>
    Use proxy server for your LAN<o:p></o:p>
    Bypass Proxy for local address<o:p></o:p>
    Next I made sure that the following had red dotted lines:
    Address<o:p></o:p>
    This still didn't work, so I went through my 'Do Not use proxy servers for addresses beginning with' removed all
    of these and then re-added one by one until the problem materialized.  The first issue was when using wildcards I had added an entry with the following:
    http://domain.subdomain.com/*
    Then caused my proxy fields not to be applied, I re-added this just with:<o:p></o:p>
    http://domain.subdomain.com/
    <o:p>This next one is IMPORTANT.</o:p>
    I had these entries in a Word document of which I had copied and pasted from the entry box for 'Do
    Not use proxy servers for addresses beginning with'.  As shown in the screen shot above provided by SVEN_BURGER I had very similar entries:
    http://domain.subdomain.com/;10.*.*.*;172.27.*.*;http://172.27.*.*
    Each time I copied and pasted the line (+ more) above the proxy field on the Windows 8.1 client
    be blank after using 'gpupdate /force' I then noticed that in my Word document the whole string was being seen as 1 URL due to the http part at the beginning, so I changed my entry to look like this:
    10.*.*.*;172.27.*.*;http://172.27.*.*;http://domain.subdomain.com/
    I again noticed that this section:
    http://172.27.*.*;http://domain.subdomain.com/
    Was being seen as one URL in my Word document.  To resolve this I had to add the URL's individually and
    apply and OK these before going back in and making the next entry.  So I ended up adding them all individually after separating the
    URL's in my Word document.
    I hope this helps.

  • "do not use proxy server for local (intranet) addresses" IEM setting

    Hi, i would like to find out where can i find the following setting in GPO which used be found in IEM.
    "do not use proxy server for local (intranet) addresses" Enabled/Disabled
    as currently im setting the IE proxy exception list via GPP, i don't see that option.

    Hi,
    As you notice that when we use GPP Internet Setting item to configure bypass proxy servers, there is no "do not use proxy server for local (intranet) addresses" option in GPP Internet
    Setting item. However, as suggested by zanderol24’s reply, we can use bypass proxy server for local addresses option under
    Proxy server to achieve the same function.

    The error is saying that for whatever reason APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER cannot proxy to the SCHEMA (APEX WORKSPACE) where the RESTful Service is defined.
    Allow me explain how RESTful Services are invoked in Listener 2.0
    - It is important that the RESTful Service is invoked as the SCHEMA user that the RESTful Service is defined in, to make sure the correct database security rules/constraints are applied when executing the query/pl sql block associated with the service.
    - The mechanism Listener uses to do this is called connection proxying, which is a facility provided by the Oracle database to switch a connection from one user to another.
    - Of course if you could switch from user A to user B without restriction that would not be good. Instead user B must grant user A the privilege to proxy to user B's identity.
    - Thus when an APEX workspace first has a RESTful Service created in it, it performs this grant, giving APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER the privielge to proxy to the workspace/schema where the RESTful Service is defined.
    - Then when the RESTful Service definition is being evaluated for execution by the listener it proxies from APEX_REST_PUBLIC_USER to the workspace schema user immediately before executing the query/plsql of the service.
    - It looks like the granting of the proxy privilege has not happened/failed for some reason.
    Can you tell me:
    - If the workspace where the service was defined is a newly created workspace, i.e it was created after installing APEX 4.2?
    - If the workspace was created before or after running apex_rest_config.sql?
    A manual workaround for your problem would as the SYS user, do:
    ALTER USER <apex_workspace_name> GRANT CONNECT THROUGH apex_rest_public_user;

  • Safari ignoring proxy username and password

    I have an iPad2 and an iPad1. If I enter a username and password in the proxy settings for our company WiFi network, the iPad1 works flawlessly, the iPad2, however, ignores the username and password, and prompts for it onscreen. If I enter the username and password in Safari, it only remembers it for that session.
    I have tried in both iOS 4.3 and 4.3.1, no success.

    Unfortunately the problem is still present after upgrade ios to 4.3.4 or 4.3.5 . Some ipad2 (and iphone4) ignoring proxy username and password.
    Has anyone solved this problem about authentication proxy  ?
    Thanks.

    I am new to REST in ColdFusion, and it seems to me that the CFC's are being handled in an unusual way.  They do not appear to be initialized (init method does not seem to run) and now it seems that ORM is not handled the same either.  Am I missing something?
    Here is the excerpt of my code producing this error:
        component rest="true" restpath="item"
            import model.beans.*;
            remote item function getitem( numeric id restargsource="Path" ) restpath="{id}" httpmethod="GET"
                var item = entityLoad("item",{ id = id },true);
                return item;
    And the bean:
        component persistent="true" table="item" output="false" extends="timestampedBean" batchsize="10" cacheuse="read-only"
            /* properties */
            property name="id" column="id" type="numeric" ormtype="int" fieldtype="id" generator="identity";
            property name="title" column="title" type="string" ormtype="string";
            property name="description" column="description" type="string" ormtype="string";
            property name="status" column="status" type="numeric" ormtype="byte" default="0" ;
            property name="user" fieldtype="many-to-one" cfc="user" fkcolumn="userid" inversejoincolum="userid" lazy="true" cacheuse="read-only";

    I also noticed in the stdout log that Hibernate is logging the query, but then it logs the "No session" error:

    I am new to REST in ColdFusion, and it seems to me that the CFC's are being handled in an unusual way.  They do not appear to be initialized (init method does not seem to run) and now it seems that ORM is not handled the same either.  Am I missing something?
    Here is the excerpt of my code producing this error:
        component rest="true" restpath="item"
            import model.beans.*;
            remote item function getitem( numeric id restargsource="Path" ) restpath="{id}" httpmethod="GET"
                var item = entityLoad("item",{ id = id },true);
                return item;
    And the bean:
        component persistent="true" table="item" output="false" extends="timestampedBean" batchsize="10" cacheuse="read-only"
            /* properties */
            property name="id" column="id" type="numeric" ormtype="int" fieldtype="id" generator="identity";
            property name="title" column="title" type="string" ormtype="string";
            property name="description" column="description" type="string" ormtype="string";
            property name="status" column="status" type="numeric" ormtype="byte" default="0" ;
            property name="user" fieldtype="many-to-one" cfc="user" fkcolumn="userid" inversejoincolum="userid" lazy="true" cacheuse="read-only";
            property name="field" type="array" fieldtype="many-to-many" cfc="field" fkcolumn="id" linktable="items_fields" inversejoincolumn="fieldid" lazy="extra" batchsize="10" cacheuse="read-only";
    I also noticed in the stdout log that Hibernate is logging the query, but then it logs the "No session" error:
        Hibernate:
            select
                item0_.id as id0_0_,
                item0_.dtcreated as dtcreated0_0_,
                item0_.dtmodified as dtmodified0_0_,
                item0_.title as title0_0_,
                item0_.description as descript6_0_0_,
                item0_.status as status0_0_,
                item0_.userid as userid0_0_
            from
                item item0_
            where
                item0_.id=?
        Dec 2, 2014 15:23:00 PM Error [ajp-bio-8014-exec-3] - failed to lazily initialize a collection of role: field, could not initialize proxy - no Session The specific sequence of files included or processed is: service.cfc''
    I should probably also add that this "item" table is part of a many-to-many relationship, so "collection of role: field" is referencing the foreign table.

  • Ignore PROXY settings for a given IP

    Hi,
    I use a socks proxy to reach email outside the corporate lan. One account on my Mail though is local Lan (Exchange Server). I put the IP of the Exchange Server to the ignore proxy configuration text box but I still cant connect to the local server.
    Please Help

    Hi,
    My problem sounds really similar. I connect to an exchange server at one university but when I am physically located in another university that I also work at I cannot access the server using the Mail program.
    I don't really understand the details but I was able to use a program called PROXIFIER to force mail to use a SOCKS proxy (or something like that).
    Result... Mail now works from behind the university firewall.
    Good luck!

  • Admin proxy not allowed

    We require SSL on all connections. We use a third party certificate with multiple SANs. Since the probe is trying to use https://localhost, it fails because the name doesn't match.
    I figure I have a few options: first, is there a way to change the URL that the probe uses to check. This seems to me to be the 'rightest' way I could fix this. Second could I alter the binding of the site so that the localhost hostname uses a dedicated,
    self signed, trusted cert? Last, is there any way to simply disable the specific probes? We're a single server low volume setup and I'm not convinced that I need the probes anyway.
    IS this a common issue? Outside of the warnings that SCOM throws at me, it is also causing a large volume of logs to be generated.

    Hi,
    I am afraid it’s hard coded. Just like the “Test-Outlookwebsiervices” command, it will also try the “localhost” and reports errors about certificate host name mismatch issue.
    We can safely ignore this report.
    Thanks,
