C40/C60 TC upgrade

Hello,
We are currently upgrading the software on all of our Cisco C40 and C60 video codec's to the latest version TC7.2
Our video units are all part of integrated rooms using Crestron devices.
Can anyone please advise if there have been any significant changes in the API which might impact the communication between the video codec and the Crestron devices.

To make an update to my post that Jens has directed you to, there is a newer security advisory than what I linked to in that discussion that will provide access to newer C Series TC software, cisco-sa-20140926-bash. This is if your codecs don't have active support contracts.

SX20 connecting usb camera / why no support for C40,C60,C90?

Hi, i noticed that the Cisco SX20 running software versionTC6.2.0 now supports usb cameras. Looks like UVC-camera drivers are loaded with the sx20.
I tested it with HD Precision USB camera and it worked fine. (Mainvideo source: 3).
I was not able to find any information about this new feature in the release notes so i am guessing its not official yet?
I noticed that C40 with TC 6.2.0 does not have the same option available. Is the support comming for C-series aswell?
This feature might come in handy when you need a second camera temporary or the main camera breaks.

however yes i was not able to find a formal update on this part.
cannot comment on the USb usage on C series as the ports are not presently active however on the Sx they are used for as serial interface.
May be we can expect in furture for C series however its (may be)

Hi Raúl,
No, it is not possible to use the SX20 table microphone, and keep the Mute function operational, on a C40. The C40 uses a balanced XLR input which does not include any of the Mute functions, and there's no way to do it with a standard microphone.
You would need some external device to send API commands to the C40 or to replicate the IR commands for pressing the mute button on the remote.
As far as I am aware, there is nothing freely available on the market that does this out of the box.

Tandberg C60 software upgrade

Hi folks,
I can't find any suitable reference for software upgrade. Currently using software version TC3.1.0.215436. Upgradable to TC7 or? Is there any upgrade path/compatibility matrix required for software upgrade?

If I can find the thread references, I'll add them here, but a search there should find the discussions.
Yes, you can go straight from TC3 to TC7, but it has been suggested that an intermediate step can help with possible touch panel and/or camera firmware upgrade issues.
From memory, the suggested upgrade path was TC3 -> TC5 -> TC7.

C60 OUT OF THE BOX QUESTION

Does anyone know if the same firmware is installed in both sw1 and sw2 on a C60 out of the box???
SECOND QUESTION: What if any is the process to factory reset a C series codec if for some reason unable to use the serial port????

Only one of the memory banks should be populated with a software version out of the box.
The second question depends on which C-series codec you mean. C20 can be hard factory reset (power button sequence) while C40, C60 and C90 cannot and must be done either through serial, web, touch, telnet or ssh where all of them except serial requires a network connection.

our endcustomer has some endpoints (C40,C60) which all run Software Version TC6.2.1. I can not find this Version in the affected or non affected list. Could you let me know if it is affected and if yes, which fixed Version would be the best to update?

To be perfectly honest... I've gotten different temp readings everytime I've changed a BIOS in my Neo2. No matter how diligent that have followed correct flashing procedures (or not). I used to upgrade frequently, just because I could. Now I just stick with what works on my kit.
For example when I went from 1.5 to 1.8 (that was supposed to report "correct" temps), instead of my 1.8 reporting lower temps from 1.5 (like just about everyone else), my reported temps increased. Even though the settings/voltages etc., between the two were unchanged.
Go figure.
It just seems that MSI never got it's collective hands around temp reporting on the nf3 chipset, no matter what fixes they claimed.
I've begun to take the temp reporting with a grain of salt - I know that I've got plenty of cooling with the proper amount of Artic Silver on all applicable surfaces, I don't run crazy voltages, got plenty of airflow through my case & my system is stable.
Only if I see a temp rise over a short period of time, do I become concerned - means it's time for a cleaning!

Cisco MCU5310 external call in issue

Scenario: Currently I have a Cisco MCU5310 sitting on internal network using only Port A with internal IP address settings but I could not call in from external network. There is no NAT settings option like normal Cisco C40/C60.
q1. if I would like to make a mix of VC sessions with internal and external parties, do I need to use Port A for internal network connection and Port B for external network connection?
q2. Or rather I can use only Port A for both external and internal VC session just like a normal Cisco C40/C60 but would need the IT firewall team to do the NAT routing of the traffic from external to internal vice versa for the MCU to work connecting both internal and external VC parties?
q3. What would be the firewall ports that are required to be opened and the settings needed to set in the Cisco MCU5310 in this case?

It's possible for external and internal endpoints to call into the MCU at the same time with only one IP assigned to the MCU, but it depends if you have your network routing setup to allow both internal and external traffic to reach that one IP. We did this with our MCU some years ago, we used a single IP on the MCU and was open on the firewall to allow incoming external endpoints to connect directly into conferences, while at the same time internal endpoints were doing the same. You can either open up the IP of the MCU completely or just the required ports needed on your firewall.

Ideal, if you don't have a VCS, you'd use the second port (video firewall) on the MCU, and of course the preferred method is the use of a VCS. In either case, it just depends on what you have and how you're capable of deploying it within your environment, such as having the video firewall option key on the MCU or using a VCS.

C60 BOOT UP IN MAIN MODE AFTER SOFTWARE UPGRADE

Any one aware of why the C60 would go into maintenance mode after software upgrade from TC5.0.1 to TC7.2.1???

Is it possible to upgrade the software version of the C40 from TCNC to TC?

Our end user have existing C40 unit which supports TCNC sw and is currently using TCNC6.2.
their HO tried upgrading their unit to TC7.1.4.908e4e9 and it’s successful unfortunately the "missing RK" message appear.
I believe the TCNC is totally different from TC platform.
We also encountered this to other client, wherein the client wanted to upgrade their unit from TCNC to TC; but the difference is that the upgrade is not successful.

The TCNC software for Cisco TP is software without encryption availability. Means you cannot make encrypted video conferences. If encryption is allowed in your country you can go to Cisco licensing and ask them to generate for software upgrade keys for TC software.

After upgrade to JHS Production: cannot find two standard java Classes

Hi, First: congratulations on the Production release. Great that it is there.
After making several backups, I have upgraded to JHS build 91 Production release (I came from JHS build 78).
1. after upgrade to JHS Production, I tested my application first (so before re-enabling Jheadstart on the ViewController and regenerating pages). The application still worked fine
2. I re-enabled JHeadstart on the VC project
3. I opened my Applictation Definition Files and saved them (I noticed a deprecated property OverwriteUiModel that disappeared after saving)
4. I ran the generator on my three App. Def. Files.
5. I rebuild the whole application
6. I ran the application, the first (Table-style) page comes up fine
7. But when clicking on one of the records in the Table to navigate to the Form page...the Embedded OC4J exits with a fatal error:

Fatal error: Cannot find class java/lang/NullPointerException

I have the (ugly) feeling that I am facing the problem mentioned in http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=1211326? : it looks like when a JSPX page gets too complex, the Embedded OC4J raises this StackOverFlow class notfound error :-(. Probably the (it only hits me when navigating to the most complex page) generated page generated with build 78 was fine, but the generated page after build 91 has become too complex, allthough nothing changed in between. What I can see from the difference between the before and after build 91 situation for all pages, is that you have added the <id=...> arguments to all ADF elements, like [id="PersonsSaveButton"] in:

I noticed people asking if there is a kind of 'maximum' on how complex a page can get before this error situation happens. No answer on that found (you do not want to know there is a maximum anyway).
The specific page is a master with 5 stacked detail regions and three "use as LOV" groups. Further on about 30 domains are used...
And the page has not finished yet, it will get more "complex" that this. I hope someone knows a good solution so that I can continue to use the Embedded OC4J for testing, otherwise developing wil get very time consuming if I have to deploy to AS every time...something I cannot afford since the project deadline is getting nearer and nearer.

C40 audio settings keep changing

I have had this happen 3 times now and its driving me nuts. It occurs about once a month, long enough that nothing is stored in the log files.
Some how the Mic 1 & 2 inputs keep getting switched from line level to mic level. After the first time I upgraded to 7.2.1 and after the second time I factory reset.
The system is password protected, registered to CUCM and managed by TMS. Nothing out of the ordinary.
Has anyone else seen this occur before? I have other C40s and none of them have ever done this. Only this one unit.

Do you perhaps have a configuration template defined in TMS (or CUCM) that is getting pushed out regularly (or even by someone manually) to the device?
Or, if you don't, you could use one to try to fix it on a regular basis. While not a solution to the actual cause of the issue, it could help with your frustration.
Similar to all your other C40s, none of the ones I have experience this issue, so, other than a template, or it not keeping its settings following a power outage (possibly faulty unit), I can't think of much that will cause this behaviour.

C40: Display local PC content at no connection with 2nd screen

The PC is connected to the C40 (TC7.1) as source for presentation. Is there a way to automatically display content of this PC when far end side transfers no content?
(With other words, screen should display PC content always except far end side transfers content)

It's not possible that I know of to automatically send the presentation source without some user interaction via the remote or touch panel to send it to the far-site. You can however, configure the presentation input to automatically display on the screen when it's connected to the codec, then all you have to do is, send it to the far-site.

C60 2nd Camera on Daisy chain set-up not booting-up

Hi,
I'm having issue with powering up the secondary camera after restarting the C60 in a daisy chain set-up. When the CODEC reboots, the secondary camera loses power it's and the work-around is to reconnect it's power supply. Any thoughts?
Firmware version of C60 is 7.1.4.

Having a number of very similar configurations (but with a C60 instead of a C40), I can confirm that the 2nd camera must have its own seperate power supply and doesn't get powered over the control cable. Only the first camera in the chain can get powered from the C40, but given the distance we usually have between the endpoint and the first camera, we often power the first camera seperately as well.
I have many rooms configured like this - but do have one room that often has a similar issue to what you're describing. When we reboot the C series endpoint, the cameras go back to the privacy position, and when the endpoint comes back up, the 2nd camera in the chain, on this one particular endpoint, does not show as a connected camera in the web interface, nor point to the preset position it is set to go to on startup. Unplugging the camera's power cable and re-plugging it (or in our case, turning it off and on again at the GPO as the camera is mounted 15' up a wall) restores the functionality of this camera.
As we have many working rooms, all configured the same, but have this issue on only one room, we haven't spent a lot of time investigating the issue, but expect that it's a power supply that is starting to fail, or too much voltage drop in long power cable which could be fixed by swapping out the power supply with a different one.

Cisco PrecisionHD 720p Camera with C60 codec - Firmware?

I can't find any documents regarding firmware availability or updates for this camera model.
It's connected to a C60 TC7.2.0 and in the Peripherals page, the camera model is Cisco PrecisionHD 720p
and the software ID is S01692-3.0Final [ID:30038] 2009-08-27
The problem is that the camera does not respond to the IR of the remote control. (PTZ)

Yes, that's correct about the 720P cameras not upgrading from the C series codec.
If you want to upgrade them, the best way to do it is to connect them to one of the older MXP devices (ie, and Edge 95 MXP).
The firmware you posted is the latest that is available: S01692-3.0Final [ID:30038] 2009-08-27.
Dumb question: Do you have the camera control cable connected? And are you using the correct camera control cable - from memory, there are two, a "C3000" and a "C6000" cable - only the C6000 cable will work when connecting the 720 Camera to the C series codec. The C3000 cable is used on the Edge 95.
The other problem could be that you don't have the IR turned on on your endpoint:
