Calculating Overhead in Process Order

Hi Gurus,
We're confirming process orders on a daily basis and we're seeing very odd results in the calcuation.
- First, the process orders are being created for the same product, so we're using the same material master each time.
- Second, we're using the same resource for making the product.
- Third, on the confirmation, we're entering the same times for cleaning, setup, duration.
However, if we confirm four orders, we will see the overhead costs calculated on two or three of the four.  One the other one or two, the overhead wont be calculated.
Bottom line, sometimes we get the cost, sometimes we don't.  The formula for the costing is in the resource, and we're using the same resource for all the process orders; so we know the formula works.
Any ideas on what we can look for?
Thanks,
Xamaica

HI All,
Kanapon - I'm using the same product for all four orders.  As you suggested, I checked the orders and the activity types are being copied to the right places.
Sundaresan - we don't have a CO consultant, unfortunately it's just us.
kent9999 - I've been checking the orders with the CORT transactions; as far as I can see, there are no differences with the orders.  Also, I checked and there are no goods movement reversals in the order without the overhead costs.
Thank you all for your help.  Any thing else I can try or look at?

  • Overhead Cost in Process Order

    Hi All
I need your expert inputs  / suggestions to apply the correct method of calculating overheads in process order.
    Requirement:
    To calculate
    a. Labor cost
    b. Overhead Cost
    c. Depreciation Cost of Machine
in a process order. Also .b. and .c. are dependent on labor time entered (a.)
    What I have done:
I am new to PP and CO, so with my limited understanding I have done the following:
    1. Created activities for labor, overhead cost and depreciation.
    2. Created secondary cost elements
    3. Created Standard Value Key
    4. Added all the parameters (Labor, OVH, DEP)
    5. Created a formula for these parameters
    6. And used them in Resource and KP26
    Problem:
With the above setup I get three values (Labor, OVH, Dep) to enter in the process order confirmation. However I need just one field : Labor time, for all the values to be calculated.
As OVH and Dep should use the same time as for Labor parameter but with different rate (as mentioned in KP26) is there a way out where I can just show Labor variable to be entered to the user and other two use that time also!
Or if you feel there can be different approach for the overheads and depreciation to be calculated kindly write back
    Thanks in advance
    -Rahul

    Hi rahul
I understand you want to use same formula for cossting for the
    a. Labor cost
    b. Overhead Cost
    c. Depreciation Cost of Machine
Then in work center->  costing tab you can mention same formula for the overhad and Depreciation which was using for  labour cost.
    Please check and come back.

  • Process Order Quanity based on Component Quanitity

    Hy,
In most cases the component qty. are depends on prodcution/process order quanity, but we have a scenario in which Order quanity is only decided on the basis of Active component's avalable qty of a single bacth which is based on its potency.
    For example
1.0) If available stock of a single batch of a active ingredient is 5.5 Kg (Assay is 97.5%) then we can take process order quantity of 5000 Nos.
2.0) If available quanity of a second batch of a actuve ingredient is 3.1 kg and (Assay is 98%) then we can tak process order quanity of 2800 Nos.
Due this we can not set our lot size. For every single bacth of active ingredient we have to do manual calculation of a process order quantity.
So pls guide how we can map this scenario for both planing and process purpose.
    Regards,
    Dhaval

    Hi Dhaval,
I can suggest you to search any planning strategy available where you can create the planned order based on component.
If it is not there then create one custom transaction where you can get the component availability along with batch ids. and use the same quantity for creation of Header material production order.
We have developed custom transaction for PO creation where we adjusting or assigning the batch on availability.

  • Settlement of the month end process order KKS1 & C088

    Hello all ,
we are trying to settle the variance & upadte WIP for the month end but facing some  problems.
When try to Run KKS1 getting the errors for some ordera as
Only remaining var. in version 0 - no target costs for 000001003928.
Should we just ignore these errors & proceed with the settlement which is using Txn CO88.
Also if I run the CO88,I  hope it just updates the WIP account so whether there is any high risk of running this transaction.
Any documentaion on CO88 will be helpful  & also if you can explain what is reasons for  the errors on KKS1 then it will be quite helpful .
    Thanks,
    AG

    Hello All ,
One more question . I have done the variance calculation for my process order via KKS2 but when I run CO88 it does not settle this order . Not sure what is the criteria for order not considered for the settlement.
Order already has the delivered & Techoed status.
    Thanks,

  • Actual Template Allocation - Process Order Handling

    Hi all
Could somebody give me some input to an issue I am facing.
I am working on a best practice baseline for Chemicals and have setup a Template to allocate overheads to materials. The allocation is fixed no matter the lot size of the process order.
At month end when running the closing process I use the transaction CPTD to allocate the actual template overhead to each process order.
However this transaction picks up and re-allocates overhead to process orders already confirmed, delivered and settled.
This is of course not what I expected as these orders have been fully completed, so I am thinking that I am missing step in closing down the process orders correctly.
Is there a status on the process order that will cause that order to be excluded from the CPTD, or am I missing some configuration?
    Thank you in advance

    Hi
I am using environment 9 yes.
    My formula is very simple:
    On Object I have:
    SenderCostCenter = '130570' AND
    SenderActivityType = 'LABORA'
And then I have simply put "1" in Plan Quantity and Actual Quantity.
So what it does is it allocates the unit cost of the combination of cost center 130570 and act. type LABORA one time to each material/order no matter lot size.
Should I perhaps have put "1" into the Plan Fix and Actual Fix instead?
    Thanks

  • Actual Over Head Calculation for process order

    hi!
I have created a costing sheet for  over head, which will be based on labour activity cost.
the base is labour cost for which I have given secondary cost element ( assigned in activity type for labour hours) in costing sheet and maintained over head rate for planned & actual. in credit of costing sheet for over head I have given secondary cost element with internal order.
first question is : when internal order posting will happen? I am assuming , when production order settlement is done, over head cost has to be accrued to internal order. is my assumption is correct? because in line items of internal order , i couldn't see any thing.
second question is : in process order, system is showing over head cost under planned cost, but it is showing ZERO in actual cost column. I have executed KGI2, system is not showing any senders or receivers. but when I executed KGI2 with dialog dipslay check box, system shows the calculations as per cost sheet correctly under condition value column.
Please let me know where I missed ? how to get actual over heads in process order.
in process order in cost analysis in the actual/target cost layout, system is showing the over head costs. but where as in "cost trend" layout, system is not showing over head cost.
can any one help on above points.
    regards,
    ramesh b

    Hi
Maintain the Overhead rate in KZM2 or KZZ2 as the case may be
Then execute CO43... The moment overhead is charged to Process order, it would post credit to IO

  • Batch determination issue in process order Material quantity calculation

    Dear Gurus,
We are facing issue in auto batch determination in process order (Material quantity calculation ).
eg Material X  is active material 200 KIA used in BOM as
    10  X   200  KIA
    20  Y   10           Filler
    30  Z
    40  X   200  KIA
    50  Y
    60  Z
We select line item 10 and 40 and do Batch determination system proposes 2 batches for line item 10 as Batch A and B
and for line 40 again Batch A (with 0.01 KIA) and batch B proposed which is wrong.
For line Item 10 Batch A and B
For line Item 40 Batch B and C or as per FIFO logic.
As Batch A should be consumed in Line item 10 then it proposed Batch B and so on....
We have already maintain data in COB1.
Can any body explain what is wrong in determination.

  • Process Order Base Quantity calculation - WPL

    Hi,
In COR2 when changing Total order quantity (Litres) (CAUFV-GAMNG) the Base quantity (Kgs) automatically re-calculates (CAUFV-BMENGE).
As far as I can see this is calculated from the WPL found in the material master > additional data > units of measure e.g. 1000lts = 1255kgs.
However if I create a process order it calcualtes with say 1.255 Kg/l, I then change the WPL in the material master, come back into the order and then change the Total order quantity. The base qty is still using the old WPL.
My question is where does the base quantity calculation take the WPL from? If it does take it from the material master is there anyway of making the process order pick up the current WPL in the calculation and the not the previous one?
    thanks

  • Basic and scheduling  dates & time calculation in process order creation

    Hi guru's,
i have one requirement, i need to calculate and display the basic and scheduled dates & times based on the given input i.e material , plant , process order type , quantity , UOM and scheduling type ( for corresponding scheduling type user will provide either start date or finish date ) using RFC. can  u plz provide any function module for this purpose or logic for calculating the same  , as i am working on version 4.7ee .
    Awaiting for a quick response.
    Regards,
    Madan

    Dear Rohan,
1.Check the length of break timings defined in the resource that is assigned in the phase.
2.Check in OPUZ whether for the process order type and plant combination whether scheduling is to include the break time also
(whether the check box for scheduling with breaks) is included.
    Check and revert back.

  • Variance Calculation In Process order

    Dear All Gurus,
We have produt cost by order.
In process order variance calculation I am gatting variance  being calculated on Input v/s output costs.
While settlement also same variance is being posted.
I want variance to be calculated target v/s Actual
    Please advice
    Thanks in advance
    Bhushan

I think in production order the variance is calculated between actual costs vs planned costs which is nothing but the input costs minus the gr coss of material produced at std costs.
    Is that happenning or not??

  • Actual Cost Calculation in Process Order

    Hi All,
I updated Standard cost of a raw material through a cost estimate and also ran cost estimate of the FIN that is using this raw material but when I am creating a Process order, it is taking the cost of this particular raw material from the previous estimate not the recent one to calculate the target cost. Can any body help me with this.
    Thanks
    MKR

    Hi Ashok,
My Valuation variants for the Costing Variant of Cost Estimate and Production order (Actual/Plan) cost calculation are in Sync to get the prices according to the price indicator in material master. But when it calculates cost for a production order, it is picking up cost from the previous period for that particular raw material. I have updated the standard cost by running the cost estimate but still its not working.
Any lead on this. This will be really appreciated.
    Thanks

  • Process order variance calculation not taking the GI+Activity confirmation Cost

    Hi,
Process oder was settled in the Month of June,2014. Accounting document was generated, but system only considered the GR cost. System was not considered  the GI as well as activity cost on variance calculation. Variance posted GR= Variance.
22nd June,2014 Variance calculated, on 30th WIP entery also reversed with the same amount.
1st July,Order done untecho and no transactions are posted in the Month of July.
Now they would like to settle the Process in the Month of July. system is throwing the error " Status DLV/TECHO reversed after settlement period 006.2014"
Order status was TECO PRT  CNF  PRC  CSER BASC BCRQ CRF No variance calculation status.
Any one faced any similar issue , please suggest me how to proceed.

    Hi,
Please check SAP Note 386816 for error KV181.
In general it is recommended to use the Cost estimate of the Process Order (Planned Cost Estimate) for the WIP at target calculation. In additional please pay attention to SAP Note 386816 which explains this procedure and which prerequisites must be met to calculate WIP at targets or the scrap variance. Even if the group counter of the routing is different you can still calculate WIP at targets but only if the message type of message KV181 is set to SPACE by Customizing settings.
Hope this will a bit help to you.
    Best regards, Takashi

  • Target cost calculation in Process Order based on Variance Calculation

    Hi all,
I have a question on Target cost calculation in Process Order. My understanding is, the Target Costs gets calculated when the confirmation and GR is made for the Process Order.
But if the confirmation/GR is not done, whether the target costs gets calculated for only the activity types after the Variance Calculation (KKS2).
I have two scenarios. In one, the target costs got calculated for the activity types without the confirmation/GR after the Variance calculation.
In another scenario, the target costs are not getting calculated for the activity types without the confirmation/GR if I try to do the variance calculation in KKS2.
SO i want to know which scenario is correct?
    Can anyone answer this question?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Brijesh

    Hi,
In general, the target costs are calculated once you deliver the order.
Target costs for the components and the activities are updated only once you deliver the order and the target cost for the finished product gets updated when you do the variance calculation.
Consider your scenario number 1 - you said the target costs got calculated for activity types without confirmation / GR after variance calculation.
Now, if the order is not having any status like PDLV, DLV or TECO it will not calculate the variances in the first place.
Your second scenario is correct - without GR the system does not calculate any target costs. Also it will not calculate any variances because the order status is still not DLV.
    Best Regards,
    Sameer

  • Is calculation of variance in Process Order Mandatory

    Dear PP Gurus,
I would like to know is Variance Calculation is Mandatory Befor Performing Settlement for Process Orders ,Once the Order is Technically Completed. What implications will be  there if I perform Settlement Transaction(KO88) Directly with out Perfoming Variance Calculation.
    Regards
    Varma

as per my understanding,Varinace key  in Material masster costing view controls whether order has to undergo Variance calcualtion or not before Settlement.
If Varinace key is maintained the variance is calcualted between the Target and actual paramentes.
If not, still the varince is  seen in the cost analysis report.but against the Planned and actual parameters.
However you can do the Settlement without Varinace calculation.

  • Requirement calculation of material in process order

    Dear Friends,
we have one raw material whose base unit of measure is maintained as CAR (cartons) and the unit of issue is in EA in material master.
now, when we create the process order of Header material, the system calculates the requirement qty of raw material in EA and this is properly shown when i click the material icon for the details of componen.t
but when i click the icon of material availability check the system gives the message as missing part list even if the current stock fulfills the reqmt. qty.
hereafter when we click the missing part list overview the reqmt. qty is calculated as per the base unit i.e. in cartons , it rounds of the figure obtained and re-converts to the unit of issue as in EA.
    for eg.
one carton contains 1472 pcs EA
required qty of x material as per process order is 16000 EA ,
when we click on materials icon it shows the figure as 16000 EA correctly,
but now when we check for material availability and seee the missing parts overview , here the requirement qty is shown as 16192,
system calculates as follows:- 16000/1472 = 10.869 cartons,
here it rounds off to 11 cartons and equivalent of 11 cartons is 16192 EA.
so if, say for e.g. my stock of raw mat. is 16000 EA which can fulfill my reqmnt as per BOM but due to the above calculation shown the release of order is rejected.
please suggest for the issue to get resolve.
    thnx in advance
    rgds
    Amitabh Rathod

    Dear Amithab,
Frist thing is always ur base unit of measure should be the minimum one. in ur case u hae done ulta.your BUM sholud be EA and yor altrnative unit of measure should be CAR this u define in material master basic data view. at this piont of time system will not allow u to change unit because stock and other movement document exists.
Now the only solution to get CAR in exact decimals ask ur MM consultant to enable 3 decimal placess for the unit CAR in SPRO, then ur issue will be resolved
