Can i install eclipse on win98

i try to install elipse on win98, but i always get install errors at configuation file as:

Are you using eclipse 3.0 or 2.1? If you are using 3.0, just get GEF version 3.0. Works a treat.

Can't install eclipse plugins

Hey guys.
I've just installed arch since yesterday. pacmanning & configuring xorg and a DE (xfce went pretty smooth), also installing a jre and eclipse went nice.
But now, i want to install many plugins for eclipse. (EMF, subclipse, phpeclipse,...)
So i add the urls, i select the ones i want, i accept the licences, i choose mirrors, the files download, i click "install all" when the warning prompts me that the plugins are unsigned.
But then it fails, no matter which plugin, the problem is always pretty similar:

okay, it worked.. sort off..
i had to do those commands on /opt/eclipse, not just on /opt/eclipse/plugins, because some data had to be written in other subdirectories then just plugins.
But now my problem is: i'm in an x-session as user dieter, i start eclipse, so it runs as user dieter, i install plugins, i'm prompted if i want to restart ecliipse, i choose yes.
After that: eclipse prompts me for what my workspace should be, it suggests: /root/workspace?? And when checking out the "new software" thing, most of my url's for plugins are gone?? It's like eclipse is running as user root, instead of user dieter? (since it doesn't use my settings, but those of user root?) Even when starting a new x-session and launching eclipse again, it keeps on behaving like this :?
However it's not running as root, here's a piece of ps aux

Oracle forms 6i (Pentium 4, Win98) "Can not install"

I have a "customized" Oracle interface that was created in Oracle forms 6. I have successfully used this form on Windows 95 Clients but now I must switch to a Windows 98 O/S on a Pentium 4 machine. I actually had to download a special Oracle Installer to install the 8i Client, but I now need to load a newer version of the Forms "run-time" and can not install it from the 6i forms download. Any suggestions would be more than appreciated.

Forms 6i installation in Windows98 should not give any trouble. Hope you
have checked the memory. You should have 128MB memory to install
Forms6i. In Runtime you may not actually require that much of memory but
to install you reuire that (Please see Hardware requirement for Form6i).

Can anyone make sense out of this? It looks as if the swt library is missing but that isn't a dependency of eclipse. I tried to install the swt package from the repo but that doesn't help. I also get the same error with jre+jdk and openjdk6.
EDIT: I also tried deleting ~/.eclipse and starting with a clean workspace directory, didn't help.

That's a good idea. I've looked at this post every time it comes up (obviously don't know the problem, and neither does anyone else I think).

TRYing to install Eclipse

I bought CR 2008 to do a stand alone Java project. I downloaded the "One-step" Eclipse package and installed it.
It ran - well it came up. I could not run any samples, because there were no library utilities installed. I added them, but they didn't really add to the system.
Now if I try to run Eclipse I get VM errors.
Let's go back to square one. Is there a working file that will install Eclipse correctly. It would help if there are steps to be done after the install - that they are documented.
I understand that Crystal Reports 2008 with Eclipse is what I need to develope Java applications for use with Crystal Reports 2008.
Can somebody help me get that running????

Easiest thing to do is to install the "All in one build": http://downloads.businessobjects.com/akdlm/crystalreportsforeclipse/2_0/cr4e-all-in-one-win_2.0.1.zip
This contains all the plugins needed to run Crystal Reports for Eclipse. That will contain all of the runtime libraries for creating a Crystal Reports Java SDK standalone java project.
Once you have downloaded the above zip, you just need to unzip it to a location of your choice and run the eclipse.exe file.
To obtain documentation on how to create a standalone Java Crystal Reports for Eclipse project, you can find what you need on http://www.sdn.sap.com, in the Business Objects portal | SDK Library | Crystal Reports for Eclipse 2.0 Developer Guide.
The above gives you the ability to create your project for viewing reports at runtime. To create the reports themselves, you can do this using Crystal Reports 2008 and then import those reports into your project.
Some other things you should review before you start are the Supported Platforms and Release Notes. You can find these on http://www.sdn.sap.com, in the Business Objects | Crystal Reports for Eclipse portal at the bottom of the page in the Knowledge Center.

Installing Eclipse on Windows XP

Hi all
I have been trying to install Crystal Reports Eclipse. I am new to this development environment. Please forgive me if I am asking questions that may have been answered.
I do not know where to get the dk1.42.1 file. At the top of this forum it says to go to the following sites. I went to the sites and found a lot of sample code but nowhere to locate the latest sdk. I did a search on google and went to sun to get the latest jre found the j3sdj1.42.1_19 which does not work with eclipse.
Any suggestions to solve this would be extremely helpful.
Is there an installation guide for Eclipse as to what is needed and the best install procedure? I have installed eclipse at least 5 times and have gotten nowhere.

This has been extremely frustrating experience as now the Crystal plugin no longer is available in Eclipse. I tried to install/update eclipse from the software update manager using this url

I have gotten past the first hurdle and have reinstalled Eclipse and now can access Crystal.
For those who do have problems the install documentation where it references which sdk for the jre is misleading. Version dk1.42.1 is no longer supported. Based on what I read the lastest is version 6 which can be downloaded from. http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads
I loaded version dk1.5_19 and this does work but make have issues.
I know that these things happen all the time but it would be nice if there was a reference or doucment that would gives this info.

Can't install Personal Oracle 8i for NT

So that we may better diagnose DOWNLOAD problems, please provide the following information.
- Server name NONE
- Filename NT817 Personal.zip
- Date/Time 2/7/2002
- Browser + Version IE 5.5
- O/S + Version NT 4.0
- Error Msg NONE
I downloaded and unzipped the above named file. When I try to run setup.exe, the cursor blinks to an hour glass for a milisecond and then nothing. Some advice I've had from others has been to:
1. Check for a folder called c:\ProgramFiles\oracle\inventory\locks and make sure there
is nothing in there. Folder does not exist.
2. Make sure I have sufficient free space on drive c: to allow for the log files. I have approx 500mb free space.
Any assistance would be most appreciated.

Can not install JRE since Update 23 on Windows 7 x64

There's something different with JRE since update 23. I can install until update 22 just fine, but update 23 and 24 just does not install. I always install with offline installer. I have the error from event manager

Reviewing the preceding posts, I saw the suggestion to remove a java folder in c:"Program Files ..."
Imagine my surprise to discover that there was such a folder on my system after my uninstalls of java using Revo Uninstaller.
There were also java executables in the windows, System32, SysWOW64 subfolders.
After I again uninstalled the jdk 64 bit, I deleted all folders that seemed to contain java
When I reinstalled jdk 64 update 24 to c:\s\java, I was again not asked where to install the jre.
Inspecting the folder tree at c:\s\java I can see c:\s\java\jre but no folder c:\s\java\jre6
However, after this install I am able to execute the java command without seeing an error.
I don't think I'm fully functional yet because an attempt to start eclipse 3.6 (Helios) gives an immediate error windows "Failed to load the JNI shared library "c:\s\java\bin\..\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll"
Since the file c:\s\jre\server\jvm.dll does exist, I'll try re-installing eclipse.

Updated to 1.4 and can't install any apps.

I upgraded to 1.4 and everything seems to work correctly, except that I can't install any apps on the phone.
All of my previously downloaded apps are missing. If I check in the My Application section of the App Catalog, it says "You have no applications installed".
When I view an app I've purchased, the App Catalog shows the "Download for free" button. When I click it, I get the following error popup.
I am a developer and also cannot install using Palm-Install (SDK) or Eclipse.
Is there a 1.4 WebOS Doctor available somewhere? I'd hate to have to Doctor back to 1.3.5 and then upgrade again, especially if it didn't fix the problem.

It sounds like to me something "odd" is going on, and you need to directly contact Palm Support, as they can look at your account and perhaps see what is going on.
I've just upgraded, and see none of what you're seeing. All apps still there, can install apps, don't see the pop-up you posted a screenshot of. Sounds like to me something is going on with your Palm Profile account.
FWIW, the 1.4 Doctor is up now, via www.palm.com/rom.

I have the same problem too, when installing Eclipse, see
[configuration folder *.logfile] errors occured etc. I knew I has a relationship with other Java VM eclipse is calling.
When I am executing
{ECLIPSE_HOME}eclipse.exe -vm C:\j2sdk1.4.2_08\bin\javaw.exe Eclipse
executes,but then When I am Clicking the Eclipse Icon itself it displays the mentioned error.
In my case I just Installed Oracle then It assigned its owned Java VM variables:
if your are about to look at the Path Environement Variables, you can see some oracle parameters SOMETHING LIKE this:
C:\oracle\ora92\bin;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\1.3.1\bin;C:\Program Files\Oracle\jre\
Just cut this variables and then PASTE it the last line of the Path ENVIRONMENT variable, DO NOT DELETE!
and IT WILL WORK FINE (^-^)
